Then I saw Dead River advertising $2.39/gallon. When I called Matt about matching a better rate, he initially offered $3.79, and only matched Dead River's price after I said I was leaving. The final straw was a boiler service call: The tech replaced a thermocouple, but the issue persisted. Turns out, one of our two tanks (which they've filled for years) was empty--they forgot to fill the main house tank. We were without heat and hot water during a big family gathering from out of town. As a 'will-call' customer, I was told emergency delivery would cost extra, though they provided 100 gallons as a 'courtesy.' Worst part: The thermocouple wasn't faulty; the problem was the empty tank. Yet they still charged the full service fee for diagnosing their own delivery mistake. I've switched to Dead River (along with several friends and even some Ciardelli employees I've heard from). It's disappointing--wanted to support a local, family-owned business, but I felt treated more like a profit source than a valued long-term customer. Received an invoice for an account which was closed two years ago. The first agent I spoke with…read moreunderstood and agreed to fix the problem. Written confirmation was requested but not received. A week later a second agent could find no record of my prior call, leaving the question open as to whether the invalid charge was reversed. A third call routed me to an agent who cared enough to open the customer file and read it. I believe that the issue is resolved, pending promised written confirmation. The lesson apparently is .. keep calling until you get through to an agent who is willing and able to help.

If you want to come home to a bill for a service you didn't request, use McLaughlin Oil…read more We had 150 gallons delivered a month ago and they took it upon themselves to decide we needed more! When we called about this we were told that they had tried calling and the voicemail was full, which apparently means they are able to make the executive decision to deliver and charge for a service that wasn't requested. The day of the un-requested delivery, we told them we will not be paying for it and they can come drain it. They had to review everything and discuss with their supervisors - fine. The first call back (not from a supervisor) the woman admitted it was an error on their end and when we again said we will not be paying for it said "can we at least set up a payment plan?" Again, no - you can come drain it and again "we will call you back." No call back for hours, so we reach out again and "manager is reviewing and will reach out tomorrow. 9:30am - still nothing so we call again and are told the manager will reach out later. Finally get a call around 11:30am today from presumably the owner. He states yet again that it was an issue on their end (they signed us up for automated refills and their system notified them it was likely time for a refill) We have a 275 gallon tank, they added 144.9 gallons. I'm no mathematician, but I'm pretty sure that means we still had 130 gallons. After stating again, I will not be paying, I was offered a whole $75 discount. When I again stated that we will not be paying for it and they can come drain it, I was told to "stop getting so worked up," and "it's not like it leaked and my house caught fire," or "there are worse things that could be happening like being diagnosed with cancer and having one week to live." Well sir, you have no idea what is going in other people's lives. And I will leave it at that.

After the delivery McLaughlin submitted a POS charge to my checking account for $778.76. So either they charge $7.78 a gallon for oil, or they fit 317 gallons of oil into my 175 gallon oil tank (that was 1/4 full.) I'm inclined to believe they didn't achieve a miracle. It's more likely they billed me three times what I owed them and hoped I wouldn't notice. You may consider doing business with a different company.

He told me it wasn't his department but he could help me find what I was looking for. He started looking on one end of the tool isle and I went around the corner of that same isle to see if there were more rachet items on the end cap. There was nothing there so I went back to look in the same area that Todd was looking. Unfortunately when I went back Todd was already half way down the hardware isle heading to the back of the store!!!! I dont think its specific to this Lowes, its a corporate thing. I wish I could give a better review of this Lowes, but this is my only experience with them and they are complicit for outsourcing and hiring such a terrible company.
