After dinner we wanted milk tea and coffee. So we went to Ryo Coffee & Tea! Mmmm this place was so good and it was our first time there. The owners (Peter & Gwen) were really nice and explained everything on their menu and made some great suggestions, they even gave us some samples. Peter was funny too! I would definitely go back when we are in Fullerton area. Inside the cafe was chill and with quite a few tables. There was some seating outside as well. Cozy and clean spot located across Fullerton college.The cashier warmly greeted us and gave us samples of the hibiscus tea and oolong milk tea (both were very good). They also said to let them know if we needed any adjustments after we tried our drinks. The coffee is good (for real), but the service is not. I went in when it was pretty close to empty, and I walked up to the register and nobody noticed or asked about my order. I decided to use their kiosk because that's what I thought I was supposed to do and nobody noticed that either. If I hadn't stood up when the next couple of people came in and Ben like where's my coffee with a confused look on my face I don't think I have my coffee right now. Five stars for Ryo Coffee. I stopped by on Thanksgiving and couldn't believe they were open until 9pm; already a win in my book. The place is clean, welcoming, and has way better specialty drinks than your usual chains. Their seasonal drinks are legit, the teas and fruit smoothies are super fresh, and everything tastes like they actually care about what they're serving. Staff was friendly even on a holiday, which says a lot. This is my new go-to spot when I'm in Fullerton. Highly recommend. read more

First off, I love this place and I frequent all of the time before/after class. The ambiance is cozy and friendly, and it's always kept nice and tidy! The drinks are fantastic, with more variety of coffee. I tried this new flavor latte and it's creamy and velvety but not too thick so it's easy to drink down! The staff are all incredibly sweet and will answer any questions on the menu and provide the best service I haven't seen in other shops. Go visit them and enjoy their delicious drinks! read more

The service time here is unreal. I'm sure the two people working are trying their best, but when the entire shop is filled with people waiting for drinks instead of drinking them then it is a problem. I arrived at the shop when there was no line, waiting for 25 minutes for my order as I watched the place fill up with confused customers. When I asked about the status of my drink after twenty minutes, the staff was master of fact. The drinks tasted fine, except that the specifications were all incorrect (ie sugar level and ice etc that customers are asked to complete at the kiosk order machine). A TRUE HIDDEN GEM. This spot is nestled in a little area right next to Fullerton College. It's a great place to study and also catch up with friends. The thing that stood out to me most was the service and drinks. I had a small talk with the owner and I could really feel his passion for the place and drinks. His enthusiasm really shined through his drink recipes and qualities. If you've been sad that orobae closed down then this is a great place to go. The phoenix oolong milk tea has a great tea flavor come through without too much sweetness. The creamy matcha had a nice matcha flavor come through without feeling too milky or sweet. Side note: I got less sweet for both drinks. Overall, I will definitely be coming back to try more drinks and spend some more time in the shop to just chill and hangout with friends :). I visited a few months ago and did not get a chance to write a review. The best thing about this place is the people who work here. The owner was there the day I visited and was so wonderful. He really wanted to get to know his customers and was so great to talk to. Everyone who worked behind the counter was so nice. I visited with a friend to read our books and the ambience was so nice. Recently came here to get a quick study session and wanted to try something new. Found this spot on Yelp and learned that they have only soft opened so far and did not officially opened yet. When I arrived I was enthusiastically greeted by the owner. He was super helpful and really wanted to ensure the drinks tasted great. I got a chance to sample the phoenix oolong milk tea as well as the hibiscus sunset tea. The tea was very strong and the balance of bitterness and sweetness in the oolong milk tea was pleasant. The hibiscus sunset tea was decent but not my favorite. I ended up ordering the tropical blend fruit tea with black tea. It was pleasantly refreshing and I could taste the kumquat which is usually a fruit I don't normally get to order in my drinks at a cafe. Overall this is a decent spot to study at with plenty of seating and not in the heart of downtown Fullerton. Parking was great with there being a parking lot just for the cafe in the back of the shop. Would come back again and looking forward to the grand opening. read more

Exceptional service, tasty drinks, and quality coffee. I believe it was the owner there working on his own today, and he was awesome. We were greeted with friendliness immediately. There were a few drinks ahead of us, but he made us feel taken care of and kindly let us know it'll be a few minutes. We ordered the ham & cheese croissant pocket, a caramel cloud cold brew, and I had the sesame latte with cold foam, 50% sweet. They even have signs inside instructing you how best to enjoy the drink. The sesame foam was absolutely decadent, and I could still really taste the coffee - nice and strong. They took note of my request for 50% sweet, and it was just right. I had a bite of my brother's ham/cheese croissant pocket, and that thing was dynamite, too! Warm, squishy, rich, & delicious. Also, when I needed the restroom, the barista was quick and gracious to give me the key despite appearing to be working on his own making the drinks. Lastly, the ambience inside is quite peaceful, clean, and calming. Menus and selection of drinks are nice and visible. Had a really great experience the first time I came, the second time fell a little short of it but it wasn't terrible. I've heard from other reviews, people had received samples but both times I went I was told they don't have samples that day. Not sure if they just discontinued sampling, which is fine, or they were unwilling to help- though it wasn't busy at all both times I've visited. On the menu it had stated we could add a maximum of two espresso shots, the first time, I added two extra shots for free; the second time, the worker wanted to charge me for the second shot. The inconsistency bothered me a little but the drinks both time wasn't bad. I had the black sesame latte with oat milk. The oat milk substitution added a bit more nuttiness that really compliments the black sesame. I would also recommend asking for less ice so you could get more of that black sesame foam, otherwise the black sesame flavor could easily be masked by the coffee. I forgot to ask for less ice the second time I came, so my drink tasted like any other average latte... I've been on a roll with black sesame flavored items so I'd consider coming back. The reviews on this place has been great and I'm around this area a lot so I'd come back to maybe try the new flavors. I've noticed this banana flavor trend going on and I'm into it! Going to try their banana latte if I come back. there's a lot of competition around the area so I can see that being a challenge for this store if they don't keep up with service, consistency, and quality drinks. The closest orobae rising phoenix dupe so far, but it's slightly more bitter, creamy (a little too much creamer even), and definitely more caffeinated here.
