There was only one employee and tons of customers. Very cute cafe there was a good amount of seating for how small the cafe is. Violet Garden latte was so good, real ube and coconut flavor, matched the espresso very well I highly reccomend getting this drink if you like ube and coconut. Mango breeze was so good and refreshing for the hot day it was. I wasnt feeling anything with espresso in it so I had sips of the violet garden latte and the mango breeze was perfect. Highly recommend coming here just make some extra time for a wait. Ordering was very easy, they had a couple menus displayed, easy to read. We ordered on their Square POS system that was efficient. Great study Café for a quick coffee pick up spot in Fullerton. The owner is always here to greet you with a smile. It sometimes gets backed up when it gets busy, but I don't mind :) They have lots of indoor seating tables with a few outdoor patio seating. The parking is in the lot behind the store or you can do short term street parking. I love their Sakura Matcha latte. I think it's their seasonal drink. I get full sweet. As many other yelpers have reviewed, their phoenix oolong really does taste somewhat similar to the beloved, now closed Orobae in Irvine. Orobae was hands-down my favorite milk tea. It's similar but i wouldn't say it's an exact replica of Orobae's version. Good alternative and also very reasonable pricing! The only thing i would comment on is that the boba was a bit harder. Not as soft as I would've liked so I think they could improve on making their boba. I'll come back to try their Sesame latte. read more

I started ordering my drinks for delivery since we started home renovations -- my search started and stopped with Ryo. I mean just look at the paper filter to keep the drinks from leaking? We love thoughtful packaging. I make my own oat milk strawberry matcha lattes every morning since it can get pricey to buy one on the daily and was worried I would be hard pressed to find a suitable replacement for the time being, but Ryo came throughhh. The coffee, the tea, the matcha, the slushies? Everything slaps. Sweetness and ice levels are adjustable, I'm pretty happy with 75% and less ice. I have been on the hunt for an Orobae-adjacent tea-forward shop and I think this place is the closest one in the local OC area so far with Vietnamese and Japanese influence. It's small and easily hidden next to the Fullerton college campus, but there's a decent number of tables inside to sit. The owners were very friendly and said they were big fans and tried different recipes until they got the current one for the Phoenix milk tea (reminiscent of the Rising Phoenix). The tea flavor is very strong and fragrant. I went with 30% sweet with additional coffee jelly and it wasn't overly sweet. Very solid drink overall for sure. Ryo Coffee & Tea is a small mom-and-pop-style cafe that's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it spot ... but you'll be pleased you dont miss it! Location: Like I mentioned, it's small-ish and if you drive on busy Chapman Avenue you might not have noticed it across from Fullerton College. There's no parking lot in the front, just limited street parking -- but there's a small parking lot in the back. This is really the only complaint I have, as I first went to the back, but saw a bunch of homeless people hanging out there. So I circled to the front; fortunately, there was a spot in the front on Saturday around noon. Of course, Ryo has no control over the homeless situation, but it's something to note. Atmosphere: Once inside, I found it clean, pleasant, and inviting. It's not crazy big, so you might have trouble finding a spot during peak hours; there's about 4 small square tables and two long tables. Drinks: We've only gotten two drinks so far but both were great: creamy matcha and sesame bliss. The former had a strong matcha flavor we were seeking without the grittiness of a lesser tea. The sesame bliss was a filter-brewed coffee latte with black sesame foam. The foam had a nice nuttiness with a hint of sweetness, nicely balancing the solid coffee. Service: Our barista was friendly and knowledgeable -- we couldn't have asked for more. Conclusion: It's sometimes hard to find a cafe that serves drinks that are both strong and flavorful, while still offering good customer service. I'm happy to say Ryo does both. I couldn't decide which collection to include Ryo in since it's both a coffeeshop and tea house, so I figured I'll just do both ;) Ryo Coffee & Tea opened in November, so about four months ago, and in that time they've already built a reputation for quality drinks and service. I met the owner Peter during my first visit, and he was warm and welcoming. He was even kind and hospitable to my dogs. Ryo is a Vietnamese and Japanese inspired coffee and tea shop, with a variety of Asian influenced drinks. I ordered the Phoenix milk tea, which tasted pretty similar to Orobae's version. Peter described how it took alot of experimenting before they were able to replicate the taste. I love the Phoenix milk tea at Taty's, but I have to say the version here is definitely more tea-focused, making it one of the better Orobae substitutes I've found since Orobae shut down. I also tried the earl grey milk tea, which was delicious. The earl grey really came through, making the drink another tea-focused milk tea. Lastly, the violet garden latte (ube) wasn't my favorite, but it was pretty solid nonetheless. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find a coffee and tea place that delivers quality at high value with but Ryo Coffee & Tea has managed to do both - it's more impressive when you see that the store is near but not too close to busy downtown Fullerton. Spacious and staffed by friendly people as well as a friendly owner, Ryo Coffee is clean, bright, and offers a pretty wide variety of drinks on the menu. My wife and I think very fondly of the Genmaicha and Houjicha lattes, which are incredibly processed at less than $6. Back in my coffee drinking days I also really liked the sesame bliss and iced coffee. And while I thought there was nothing super exceptional about the drinks, it was exceptional that all the mentioned drinks were all at least very good - powerful, not too sweet, and well portioned. Ryo Coffee & Tea is definitely the kind of place with consistent quality that makes you want to keep going back and try the rest of the menu! What we ordered ~ Garden Violet Latte definitely recommended. Has Ube in it. Loved it w coconut milk. Requested it at 50% sweetness and is still sweet. ~ Almond Delight Latte has a hint of Almond. Is good and not too strong of a coffee taste along w the next 2 Brew below is recommended and good. ~ House Fusion Brew. Loved the cheese foam on top. ~ Caramel Cloud CoLd Brew cheese foam is perfectly topped. Like icing to the cake. ~ Phoenix Milk Tea is good. Very cute coffee shop in downtown Fullerton. It was very spacious inside with lots of seating. They offered games for people to play as well. They had a lot of drink options to choose from. I decided to order an Iced Banana Blast Latte. It said that there was fresh bananas inside and you can taste it when you have the drink. The banana didn't taste artificial or overwhelming. Tried the sesame bliss and it had a strong nutty sesame flavor in the cream- and the saltiness balanced really well with the sweetness. Also ordered the mango breeze for my kiddos and I kept wanting to drink their drink! Love the fresh fruit flavor and the cheese foam on the side of the cup - perfection! Today, we had the phoenix milk tea and it had a strong tea flavor, which I prefer in my milk teas, but also tasted a little watered down. Genmaicha latte is made with powder. I've never had one with milk before. Very strong nutty flavor from the genmaicha and the oat milk adds a nice depth of creaminess. Very good and reasonable price for the large quantity. My boyfriend got the banana blast latte. It's well balanced between the banana and coffee flavor. Thomas was so friendly and since we had never been here before I wanted to try it. I saw my Yelp friend Les tried this place. I met my bff and her son with baby girl. Was so hard to find though lol, we parked in the back you sort of go by the college and go through the parking lot. Look for the building with the green trim on the roof top. We parked in the back they had handicap thank goodness i didn't know you could either walk from the back or the front. Lol so we walked in the front area, they have outside and inside seating so nice. They also have games you can play too adults or kids of course. So the kids went straight to those lol a giant tic tac toe, Monopoly, Janga how cool! We had no clue what to order, thank you so much Thomas for being so helpful and fun to talk to. He is awesome he helped us make a choice and explained the drinks to us. They also have small samples of some of their drinks in a plastic little cup which was awesome of them by the cashiers area I knew I was tired but I went in wanting to try Toro Dream, looked so pretty lol it's so creamy and cold and not to strong of a flavor, I got it 75% sweet you can choose your sweetness. My bff ended up getting the Violet Garden latte it was delicious I tried it lol. We sat down talked for a while hung out let the kids play games. The cold black sesame foam and milk comes through after. The black sesame foam and milk does bring a sweetness, nutty flavor and balance to the whole drink, yet the bitterness of the coffee overpowers and lingers. The coffee is super strong, so if you wanna try it for a jolt in the morning before work or even during your lunch break, it will definitely keep you awake for many hours! I did not adjust the sweetness level and kept sugar level regular. It wasn't super sweet and I think it helped balance the bitterness of the coffee. I'm happy having tried this drink once. I might come back and try their other drink offerings. Other than drinks, they did offer some breads and Shin Ramen cup noodles. SELF-ORDERING KIOSK There is a self-ordering kiosk and you can scroll on the menu, order and adjust your sweetness level for your drinks too. CUSTOMER SERVICE Very sweet and nice people who were making the drinks. Not sure if one of them was the owner, but they were friendly and welcoming. SEATS There were about 3 tables for two, bar tables and stools that seat about six people and 2 bench seats. Indoor board games were available while people wait for their drinks. LOCATION / PARKING This is right across from Fullerton College on Chapman. Pass Lemon St. and the Fullerton College bridge and you will see it on the right. It is right between Alegro Taco Bar and Subway. The best parking spot would be street parking right in front of the shop. 1 hr parking from 7:00am - 6:00pm except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Additional back parking lot behind Ryo Coffee & Tea. There were several 30 minute parking spots there. NEW COFFEE SHOP IN OC!! So glad I finally got to try Ryo Coffee! My friend and I came in on a Tuesday afternoon and there was practically no one, which was surprising as we thought there'd be more crowds. It's a small space but a cute place to study/do work. I love how they decorated for xmas and had free samples to try :-) The staff is so friendly too! I ordered their Sesame Bliss latte after hearing only good things and it did not disappoint. The cold foam is the perfect creaminess. Although I got 100% sweetness, I honestly thought it could use a lil more sugar but it didn't bother me. Just make sure to mix well or else it'll taste more on the bitter side. My friend got the Genmaicha Latte with caramel cold foam on top! She loved the cream top but thought the drink itself tasted like misugaru so kinda grainy. We saw them whisking the matcha by hand though so appreciate the authenticity ~ Overall recommend trying! Lately I've been on the hunt for black sesame based coffee drinks, so I came here immediately when I saw Sesame Bliss on its menu. The black sesame cream on this drink was excellent but the coffee/espresso was too bitter and strong for me. I'm used to drinking strong Vietnamese coffee at places like Re Ca Phe in Fountain Valley, but this one was just too much for me. Also got the Hibiscus Sunset for my kid, which seemed to be one of the other popular drinks here, but it was just too sweet. The description sounded great on paper (hibiscus juice, orange, peach, cinnamon) but didn't quite come through in taste. Price is better than most places, and service was prompt and friendly, so I will come back to give few other drinks a try. read more

It's a stronger type of oolong milk tea. If you like oolong or jasmine milk tea, I think you'll like this! Tea flavor is on the stronger side. I recommend getting normal sweetness as recommended by the owner since they make their drinks less sweet (I normally get 50% sugar) - Genmaicha Milk Tea with Oat Milk - one of the best genmaicha milk teas I've had! It didn't taste overly milky and the genmaicha flavor was distinct. Also got normal sweetness on this and it was perfect. This is definitely one of my top coffee places now! I love black sesame so it only made sense for me to the Sesame bliss.10/10 DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! I opted to use a straw so the owner recommended to mix well with straw to get the full flavor. You can also skip straw and gently swirl and sip. Came early on a Friday and was surprised to find that the 15% off weekend special applies on Friday (as well as Saturday and Sunday). Parked in the street right in front, though I do think there is a shared lot behind the building. Asked some questions and ultimately selected the Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea with some adjustments. The non-dairy creamer can be substituted with other mild and I chose whole milk, which was acceptable. For ice level I selected none, and you can see in the picture that there was some space left in the cup. Here the sweetness gradient is None-Little-Half-Less-Full. I was cautioned to go higher but chose little (maybe a 25% equivalent) and the full flavor and bitterness of the oolong tea shown through. I could see the Half level working too, but was satisfied with the Little amount. There are a couple more items in the menu I want to come back and try (like the fruit tea with orange/lemon/kumquat/peach). read more

I like the simpleness of the drink and the roasted tea flavor is great. The Violet Garden Latte I got with coconut milk was so delicious. They really pair the coffee well with the coconut milk. The almond delight latte with oat milk really hit the spot. That is a must try. You can get vanilla latte anywhere, but it's rare to find an almond latte. Their almond was well balanced.
