Hidden coffee shop across from the college, there is street parking and parking in the back. I was a little put off because when I walked in there was only one worker and she didn't say hi or acknowledge me when I came in... it's my first time so i'm standing there trying to figure out what I want and I was gonna ask for her opinion but she kept walking off to the back (still hadn't greeted me at this point) I then realized you have to order yourself on the kiosk so I did that... The inside of this place is quaint, a decent amount of seating and chill music. Probably a good study spot. Very clean too. I ordered the Caramel Bliss latte (got it half sweet)... it's a caramel latte with vanilla cold foam and caramel drizzle. The prices here are good! The coffee is advertised as $5.99 and after tax comes out to about $6.50 which is still cheaper than most coffee shops these days. The drinks itself tasted amazing! Not too sweet and great flavor. I liked that you can actually taste the coffee. I think since it has cold foam it's still on the sweeter side so if you don't like coffee too sweet maybe skip the foam.
RYO Coffee is such a fun spot if you're looking for unique coffee and matcha drinks! I tried the Iced Vanilla Latte with foam, Banana Blast Latte with foam, Banana Matcha Cloud, and the House Fusion Coffee. Everything was flavorful and fun to try, especially if you like creative drinks beyond the usual coffee shop menu. I also loved having so many different options to choose from. Definitely a spot I'd recommend checking out if you're in the area and want to try something different!
Ryo Coffee & Tea is located in Fullerton! It was quite easy to pull over and park here for a quick coffee fix. There are a couple of parking spots in front of the store, on the street. I'm not sure if there is a parking lot or any other parking spots nearby. Upon walking inside, it was bustling with other patrons playing a card game. It was nice to see liveliness inside the cafe on a calm morning. I can see how this place would be a hit with the college students. They offered pastries and ramen noodles for patrons, which would be the perfect hang out or study meal. We ordered on the kiosk and got to look at their drinks with pictures next to it. I opted to try their banana blast latte that was a bit over $6 in price. We sat down and waited quite a bit for our drinks. There was only one person manning the front, so it was understandable. He was very kind and approachable when we had ordered. My banana blast was definitely banana. I actually got soy milk as an alternative and I could taste that, too. The best part is amidst the banana and soy milk, I could also taste the coffee. Not bad! We would definitely come back to try their other drinks whenever we're in the area!
I came across this spot on social media and bookmarked it for the next time I was in the area. We happened to be nearby, so I knew we had to give it a try and I'm glad we did! Ordering was easy through the kiosk, and I appreciated that the menu highlighted the best sellers and recommended customizations. We ordered: * Banana Matcha Cloud * Matcha Bliss * Banana Blast Latte (recommended with oat milk and vanilla cold foam--trust the recommendation!) * Mango Breeze Every single drink was delicious. The flavors were well-balanced, refreshing, and exactly what we were hoping for. The Banana Blast Latte with oat milk and vanilla cold foam was especially good. The drinks came out quickly, the prices were reasonable, and the overall experience was smooth from start to finish. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Highly recommend if you're in the area!
Stumbled into RYO near Cal State Fullerton and instantly understood why people keep talking about it. The vibe is super chill, fun, and has that perfect college-town energy where everyone seems to be either studying, catching up with friends, or hunting for the perfect Instagram photo. I ordered the Banana Matcha, and wow!! it was smooth, rich, creamy, and somehow tasted like a matcha and banana decided to become best friends. The inside is also designed perfectly for a quick photo op with your drink..so don't be surprised if you leave with both caffeine and new profile pictures Great drinks..cool atmosphere.. and definitely worth a visit.. I'll absolutely be back for another matcha adventure.
This place is one of my favorite places to get a Hojicha latte!!!! This place has great vibes, clean, easy to find, and service is always great! If I could, I'd come here everyday!
It really gives off mom & pop vibes. It was nice seeing the interactions of the students who came to support the owner (who teaches at fullerton college and now owns Ryo Tea). The owner is also really funny. When the drinks came out, he jokingly said "don't even ask me which one is the ube". The ube was really strong and the matcha itself was yummy. It is on the sweeter side. The london fog was light but good.
There's a kiosk at the front, but you can also order directly with the cashier. There's plenty of seating inside, making it a good spot to study or get some work done. The Uba Matcha Cloud with ube coconut milk was really good, though it was on the sweeter side. I wish there had been an option to adjust the sweetness level. The Creamy Matcha wasn't as creamy as I expected, but it did have that rich, slightly chalky matcha texture. I just wish it had been a bit creamier overall.
I never realized how close this place is to Fullerton community college! You're in for a treat if you go to school there. They specialize in their matcha drinks I believe, but I'm personally not the biggest fan of matcha. So, I got their phoenix milk tea, which is actually dairy-free! They use a non-dairy creamer and oolong tea, which you can really taste in the drink! I got 50% sweet to get more of the tea flavor, but if you want it a little sweeter, definitely do 100% sweetness. I also got their crystal boba with the drink, which has to be one of the tastiest crystal boba pearls I've ever had! You do order from a mini screen, but the service was very good when they bring your drinks out. The shop itself is pretty small and they do have board games for you to play as well. I'm happy I finally got to try this place!
This place was easy to find as it is facing the busy street of Chapman Ave and it is right across the street from Fullerton College. Parking was easy to find, as there is parking in the back, behind the building. And you can park in front of the street if there is any available. When I got there they were a bit busy as it was a long line in front of me. I saw one of the QR codes that said "order online and pick up in store." So I ordered on line and finished my order before actually getting to the self order kiosk and it gave me a pick up time. As I was taking my pictures and waiting, I noticed that the girls behind me in line got their order even before my order was called out. As my pick up time was approaching, I went to go check on my order. And it was already done just waiting in the back. I am not sure how the pick up ordering service works, but I am pretty sure they usually have drinks finished before a pick up time. I felt like I waited all this time when my drink was already ready. I really enjoyed the Phoenix milk tea. Oolong milk tea is one of my favorites. I also like how this is one of the few drinks where you can make adjustments. I am not too sure about the texture of the Boba, as it is not your regular round tapioca balls. I wanted to try the genmaicha latte because I was curious how it would taste in latte form because I drink genmaicha tea everyday. I like how they notify you that this is not a Matcha drink. But when I ordered it, I got Matcha foam on top.The drink is very genmaicha forward. And when you mix in the matcha cream foam, you get hints of that matcha upon every sip. It was delicious and I loved it! I like the ambience of this place. It has a very modern feel with a few tables and chairs as well as benches where you can sit and hang out. They also have some games for you to play while you are waiting or if you want to hang out with friends. It is also a nice study place as it is quiet inside. Very helpful for those students across the street. Definitely a place I would like to try again.
Banana Cloud Matcha: sweet, creamy, and still had a strong matcha flavor. Not usually my favorite combo since it's mostly cloud foam, but it was still really good 8/10 Creamy Matcha: matcha w a matcha cream stop, EASY 10/10. fantastic. you can definitely taste the quality in their coffee! they have such fun flavors too! i got to try the coconut pandan einspanner and LOVEDDD it. i will definitely be returning to try other drinks great space to do work here as well. i had no trouble finding parking (they also offer parking behind the building)
I got the Phoenix Milk Tea and liked that it had a strong tea flavor. I personally wish it was a bit sweeter, but I tend to prefer sweeter drinks, so if you like something more balanced or less sweet, you'd probably enjoy it as is. The service was good and the cashier was friendly. Parking was in the back, but it was a bit tricky to find at first since it's tucked away in the area.
Really friendly service, May was so kind and accommodating! Sesame iced latte was strong and tasty. Phoenix drink which is basically their black milk tea was decent but the added sesame cream on top made it amazing. Boba was nice and chewy - semi sweet. read more

12/2/2024 SESAME BLISS As instructed before I took my first sip, I swirled my coffee and mixed it. First sip hits you with a strong dark roasted coffee flavor. The cold black sesame foam and milk comes through after. The black sesame foam and milk does bring a sweetness, nutty flavor and balance to the whole drink, yet the bitterness of the coffee overpowers and lingers. The coffee is super strong, so if you wanna try it for a jolt in the morning before work or even during your lunch break, it will definitely keep you awake for many hours! I did not adjust the sweetness level and kept sugar level regular. It wasn't super sweet and I think it helped balance the bitterness of the coffee. I'm happy having tried this drink once. I might come back and try their other drink offerings. Other than drinks, they did offer some breads and Shin Ramen cup noodles. SELF-ORDERING KIOSK There is a self-ordering kiosk and you can scroll on the menu, order and adjust your sweetness level for your drinks too. CUSTOMER SERVICE Very sweet and nice people who were making the drinks. Not sure if one of them was the owner, but they were friendly and welcoming. SEATS There were about 3 tables for two, bar tables and stools that seat about six people and 2 bench seats. Indoor board games were available while people wait for their drinks. LOCATION / PARKING This is right across from Fullerton College on Chapman. Pass Lemon St. and the Fullerton College bridge and you will see it on the right. It is right between Alegro Taco Bar and Subway. The best parking spot would be street parking right in front of the shop. 1 hr parking from 7:00am - 6:00pm except Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Additional back parking lot behind Ryo Coffee & Tea. There were several 30 minute parking spots there. Cross streets to get there is Newell Pl and Chapman Ave. Turn into Newell and you will see Ryo Coffee's backdoor on the right. It is right next to Fullerton College's staff parking lot. read more

NEW COFFEE SHOP IN OC!! So glad I finally got to try Ryo Coffee! My friend and I came in on a Tuesday afternoon and there was practically no one, which was surprising as we thought there'd be more crowds. It's a small space but a cute place to study/do work. I love how they decorated for xmas and had free samples to try :-) The staff is so friendly too! I ordered their Sesame Bliss latte after hearing only good things and it did not disappoint. The cold foam is the perfect creaminess. Although I got 100% sweetness, I honestly thought it could use a lil more sugar but it didn't bother me. Just make sure to mix well or else it'll taste more on the bitter side. My friend got the Genmaicha Latte with caramel cold foam on top! She loved the cream top but thought the drink itself tasted like misugaru so kinda grainy. We saw them whisking the matcha by hand though so appreciate the authenticity ~ Overall recommend trying! TIP: Customer parking is in the back lot! It only has reserved or 30 minute parking but I confirmed with the staff that no one checks, as long as you're a customer :-) There is 1-2 hour street parking out front too. read more

Lately I've been on the hunt for black sesame based coffee drinks, so I came here immediately when I saw Sesame Bliss on its menu. The black sesame cream on this drink was excellent but the coffee/espresso was too bitter and strong for me. I'm used to drinking strong Vietnamese coffee at places like Re Ca Phe in Fountain Valley, but this one was just too much for me. Also got the Hibiscus Sunset for my kid, which seemed to be one of the other popular drinks here, but it was just too sweet. The description sounded great on paper (hibiscus juice, orange, peach, cinnamon) but didn't quite come through in taste. Price is better than most places, and service was prompt and friendly, so I will come back to give few other drinks a try. read more

Came during soft opening and absolutely loved their drinks! The owner was very friendly and gave great recommendations on their drinks. - Phoenix Milk Tea - so good. It's a stronger type of oolong milk tea. If you like oolong or jasmine milk tea, I think you'll like this! Tea flavor is on the stronger side. I recommend getting normal sweetness as recommended by the owner since they make their drinks less sweet (I normally get 50% sugar) - Genmaicha Milk Tea with Oat Milk - one of the best genmaicha milk teas I've had! It didn't taste overly milky and the genmaicha flavor was distinct. Also got normal sweetness on this and it was perfect. There is a parking lot in the back that you can enter the store from with seating inside. Will 100% come back again when I visit OC! read more

This is definitely one of my top coffee places now! I love black sesame so it only made sense for me to the Sesame bliss.10/10 DEFINITELY RECOMMEND! I opted to use a straw so the owner recommended to mix well with straw to get the full flavor. You can also skip straw and gently swirl and sip. I loved the flavor and how the black sesame complimented the coffee. The best black sesame drink I've ever had for sure! The owner was super nice and offered recs. Came early on a Friday and was surprised to find that the 15% off weekend special applies on Friday (as well as Saturday and Sunday). Parked in the street right in front, though I do think there is a shared lot behind the building. Asked some questions and ultimately selected the Phoenix Oolong Milk Tea with some adjustments. The non-dairy creamer can be substituted with other mild and I chose whole milk, which was acceptable. For ice level I selected none, and you can see in the picture that there was some space left in the cup. Here the sweetness gradient is None-Little-Half-Less-Full. I was cautioned to go higher but chose little (maybe a 25% equivalent) and the full flavor and bitterness of the oolong tea shown through. I could see the Half level working too, but was satisfied with the Little amount. There are a couple more items in the menu I want to come back and try (like the fruit tea with orange/lemon/kumquat/peach). read more

My hubby ordered the Sesame Bliss (coffee with black sesame foam) and I ordered the Phoenix Milk Tea. We both enjoyed our drinks. The Phoenix Milk Tea has strong bold and floral flavor, and there was the right proportion of tea to creamer. This place is amazing. I am so impressed by their drinks. I'm glad I listen to their recommendations for the drinks, and it is amazingly good. I would make the effort to drive out here for their coffee. I got three drinks and I love all three of them. The Genmaicha Latte with whole milk was sweet and light. I like the simpleness of the drink and the roasted tea flavor is great. The Violet Garden Latte I got with coconut milk was so delicious. They really pair the coffee well with the coconut milk. The almond delight latte with oat milk really hit the spot. That is a must try. You can get vanilla latte anywhere, but it's rare to find an almond latte. Their almond was well balanced. It's not like overly powering. Super friendly staff is very welcoming. The shop has nice open space. It's a good spot for studying and relaxing. read more
We were super excited to try this new boba (and coffee) spot. We got the phoenix milk tea (their house milk tea) with boba. The interior is super cute and very conducive to working; and I could see how on a cooler day, the patio is perfect for friends! And the person working the counter was really friendly and kind. But the drinks fell short. In an area with so many amazing boba options - this was mediocre at best. The tea itself was super milky but yet left a bitter aftertaste. And they were really conservative with boba quantity but maybe that was okay, as it was really chewy. Sadly, we couldn't stomach the drinks. Maybe boba milk tea isn't the thing to get here but then it shouldn't be on the menu and come up as #2 on a yelp search for boba :/ read more
I was already out and about so I figured why not swing by a hot and new coffee shop in the area. Plus, it had great ratings and I'm a sucker for trying new coffee shops. This place is within walking distance from Fullerton College, but if you're driving here, I'd recommend heading towards the back entrance where there's an easily accessible parking lot. The coffee shop itself is a cozy size and looks like a great spot for studying or hanging out. The team here were super friendly and excited to answer any questions I might've had. They even offered free samples of some of their drinks! I ended up ordering the sesame bliss and and violet garden latte both with oat milk. For the two drinks, I paid less than $11 which is honestly a steal nowadays! The sesame bliss was nutty and the oat milk made it slightly creamier. The violet garden definitely tasted like ube and both drinks were at a perfect sweetness. What a great addition to Fullerton and I am so glad I got the chance to try this spot! read more

Genmaicha latte is made with powder. I've never had one with milk before. Very strong nutty flavor from the genmaicha and the oat milk adds a nice depth of creaminess. Very good and reasonable price for the large quantity. My boyfriend got the banana blast latte. It's well balanced between the banana and coffee flavor. Feels like a combo of banana milk and coffee, but without the heavier sweetness of straight banana milk. Not artificial. read more
One boba store closes and another pops up to join their ranks. Ryo coffee and tea replaced R&B. Walked from downtown fullerton to this place even though there's plenty of parking in the adjoining lot and sometimes in front. The staff are friendly and for their soft opening there's samples of their popular drinks. Got the phoenix milk tea which is their oolong milk tea and I'm always a fan of oolong milk tea if it's done right and it is done right. Flavor is balanced and the oolong notes come through nicely. I can't really speak to their coffee yet since I haven't tried it, so maybe in the future I'll review that. Worth a try if you're in the area. read more

How do I give this place 10 stars?! The owner has the BEST customer service and if he had a stand up comedy show, we would attend it. FRONT ROW! We were in the shop in tears from all of the laughter. You can tell this is his happy place and we love that for him. We tried 3 different drinks. My personal favorite is the Sesame. I have never had a sesame cold foam and it is roasty, toasty, and lightly sweetened. The coffee is smooth and I opted to have the coffee with the whole milk which is standard. My husband had the almond delight and it is rich in true almond flavor, not that artificial almond taste. It's a true almond flavor. The owner recommended getting it with oat milk to amplify the nutty flavor and it was perfect. There is plenty of seating inside and along the wall. They have a bar too that faces the street so natural light comes in. Just talking to the owner makes you instantly happier. It's so nice to see someone in their true element loving what they do! I had a resurgence of wanting Banana coffee and I am so happy I took a chance on Ryo! The coffee to Banana ratio is so perfectly blended that it's not too sweet or overpowering of any of the ingredients. The coffee is bold and strong which complements the sweetness and decadence of the banana so well! They also have an Almond latte, which is pretty rare on a menu, and it has quickly become my new obsession. Every time I take a sip I ask myself, "Why is the world so good to me?" Follow the hot tips and add the coffee jelly because it takes it to a whole other level! The only con is it does not come in a larger size. My lease ends in Oct, now I have to map my distance accordingly because I need Ryo everyday! read more
This coffee shop is located near downtown fullerton on a busy street but we had a little trouble finding how to get to it. Turns out they have their own little parking lot, you just have to go around the back through the side streets! :) For drinks I got the Matcha Bliss and my friends got the Sesame Bliss. Situated right across fm Fullerton College, this boba shop shared the same structure as Subways. There is a back parking lot if you can't find parking on the street. If you were a fan of Orobae's phoenix drink then you would not be disappointed w Ryo's Phoenix milk tea. It was as good as Orobae. To me, the drink that stood out the most was their Sesame bliss coffee. The coffee flavor was pronounced. This was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had. Price was reasonable. Cute cafe in Fullerton! I ordered a creamy matcha 75% sweet with oat milk and matcha cold foam for $8.33. I would've preferred the drink a little sweeter, so keep that in mind when determining sweetness level. I asked for a sweetness adjustment and they gave me extra sweetener on the side. This coffee shop is super cute and staff was very friendly and nice. They provide recommendations to add on to your drinks and I tried the extra matcha cream for my matcha and it tasted great! Was searching for boba and read that their Phoenix Oolong was a dupe of Orobae's. They were spot on. The drink is yummy, rich, and isn't too bitter like other dupes. if you are looking for matcha, this place is MUCH better than most cafes in north OC me and my sister have tried. She got the creamy matcha and i got the london fog :D the foam is so yummers and you can really taste the quality. The cup is also bigger than many other places that tend to be skimpy, and also didn't add too much ice :) The worker there was also super nice and complimented my hair (even though i had just rolled out of bed lol) This was so refreshing after having not as good experiences elsewhere and we will be coming back ^_^ If you're looking for great quality matcha in OC this is the place! read more

I saw this newly opened shop offered a black sesame latte, so I had to try it! The interior is spacious, and I've been to this location before when it was a different business. My friend got the Violet Garden latte with boba, and it's meant to be an Ube flavored latte. It tasted more like coconut than ube, but it was still good. The black sesame flavor in my latte could have been stronger. The lady who helped us was very kind! read more
