    a kitchen island

I spoke to Greg who got the ball rolling on our new kitchen countertops. He asked me to sketch out what we had and to send pictures to him. I was nervous because I'm no artist but he knew exactly what we wanted. The next step was to go pick out our quartz and he gave me a couple places to call/check out. We ended up ordering from a company from Minnesota. It took a few extra weeks because of Covid. Greg and Rob came out to demo for us. How wonderful to have our 80's two-tier island cut down to one level! It sure opened up our small kitchen. Then Rob came out to laser measure. It was wonderful to get to this stage. The company sent me pictures of our slabs and a mock picture of each slab cut to our kitchen specifications. Then Rob and a couple of guys came out to install. I was speechless! We have had nothing but compliments from our neighbors/friends. Rob, even came back out to do our tile backsplash. I would highly recommend S and D - especially Greg and Rob. Thanks guys!

S&D is definitely a great place to have your custom countertop fabricated and installed. I shopped around and got bids by emailing a drawing with measurements of my kitchen. I went with S&D because of the other reviews on here and because the price was very good and because of how fast they same out and installed the countertops. Heres the timeline: 1) I pick out and buy a granite slab from arizona tile in Roseville. They allow you to put a hold on slabs for free for one week before you need to pay for out and set it aside. I picked out a closeout slab and saved some money since I only needed one slab. 2) Steve measures my kitchen on a Friday. 3) The following Monday Arizona Tile says they can deliver the slab to Steve's shop by Thursday. 4) I visit on Friday after the slab is delivered and layout how each piece will be cut from the slab. 5) On Wednesday the slab is installed. That's fast!! S&D's crew came out during the one hour window like they promised and everything went smoothly even when I didn't have the straightest cabinets. They used shims to keep everything level and it turned out great. I have small galley kitchen and they did it with no seams. Here are some tips I learned when I went shopping for countertops: - Always get as many bids as possible. Do more than 3 if you have time. - Some shops act like they are too busy for your job or give you a high bid or long install date like a month away. They are out for the most money so if you don't need demo of your old countertops, plumbing, or electrical then you don't generate a lot of money so you are basically small potatoes to them. S&D was not like that and they were polite and cool people. - Read reviews like on yelp and Angies List and check BBB and the contractors license board. - Just because your friend had a good experience with an installer doesn't mean you will since every job is unique. - Always use a professional in the craft if you want a professional job. Handy men that claim they can do it all won't be as good as someone who only does one thing.

I recently used Steve and his crew at S&D tile for my kitchen granite counters. We talked to several contractors, including the leading Sacramento "pre-fabricated" granite contractor, before deciding to go with S&D. While we were initially attracted to the pre-fabricated counters due to the lower labor cost, when we compared both estimates including material and demo we found the difference in cost was negligible. We went with custom counters with S&D for 3 reasons - better install quality and less seams, better customer service, and better granite selection. Steve is the owner of S&D - when you call, he is very attentive and if he can't answer he will get right back to you. He makes sure to answer all your questions thoughly and promptly. My wife and I work in the construction management industry and expect a level of quality higher than the average customer. Steve will not only deliver the quality you expect, but will work with you on your budget. I received 4 bids from the best rated Sacramento area tile contractors. S&D's was the most competitive, but still was a bit out of our budget. He worked with us to get our project within budget by extending his contractor discount on materials and suggesting some ways we could cut costs. Once we had the slabs purchased, we reviewed the layout at his shop to ensure we were 100% satisfied. When demo day came, the house the as clean as when we left it that morning. When the counters were installed, he matched the seams up perfectly and arranged the granite to maximize the amount we purchased and to achieve the best look possible. Also, all S&D employees at my house were very courteous, respectful, and left the house spotless. Overall, I couldn't be happier with the workmanship and the cost. I will definitely recommend S&D to anyone looking for a tile/granite contractor, and will use them for my future projects. Thanks Steve for a great job!

We have been…read moreworking with Rebecca and Leah for the past two years (we took a break in between phases) and we finally completed our entire remodel. During our first phase we did both bathrooms and our kitchen. You can see the professional photos of the first phase of our remodel here: https://rwarddesign.com/portfolio/light-filled-luxury/ It was really great to work with Rebecca. My wife and I were impressed with how quickly Rebecca learned our tastes and when we decided to do the second phase, which included all new furniture, everything that Rebecca picked out was perfect-the first time. We really appreciated that Rebecca worked hard to make sure that our home looked awesome but reflected our style, not what she thought our style should be. We had a couple of furniture pieces that were passed down from my mother and grandmother that we wanted to keep. The style did not fit with our new space but Rebecca had them refinished with a more modern look that worked perfectly with our new furniture. We have been continually amazed at the Rebecca Ward Design team's ability to design spaces that we absolutely love. We bought our home in 1998 and raised both of our boys in this home and our original design was definitely utilitarian. We told Rebecca that we were ready for a "grownups" home and what she designed is both beautiful and super cozy. There isn't anything we would change-from the flooring, to the furniture, to the fixtures, to the paint colors, to the accessories. We love it all. Thanks Rebecca and Leah!

They listened to my needs and were amazing at giving me different choices and at times making changes to the plan to suit my taste. I was astonished at how Rebecca was able to integrate my great Grandmother's Asian table into the scheme as it has tremendous sentimental value to me. They asked what my budget was and they stayed within that budget. Everyone who walks into my home now are truly amazed and shocked at the transformation. Both of these designers are professional but personable too. I truly miss seeing their smiling faces once the process was finished. I would say that staging day was my favorite as they come in with all kinds of accessories that bring each room to life. I would not hesitate to hire them for another project. You won't be disappointed and you'll be as pleased as I was when it's all complete. Please realize these photos were taken with my phone camera, so definitely not professional photos. Much prettier in person. Update 5-1-18 Rebecca had been searching for the perfect abstract painting to go over my silver mirrored Buffett. It arrived today and we truly love it!

From our very first conversation, she truly listened to me and understood what I was trying to achieve. I was tired of the gray-on-gray, and light monotone look that seems to be everywhere. I wanted my home to feel warm, colorful, and personal, with browns, sage greens, and unique handcrafted pieces that reflected my personality. One of my biggest challenges was my existing dark gray wood flooring. Replacing it would have been extremely expensive, and I honestly didn't think I could get the look I wanted without changing it. Sue immediately saw the potential. Rather than trying to work against the flooring, she brought everything together by focusing on my existing furniture and adding carefully selected accessories, beautiful textiles, and handcrafted statement pieces. The transformation has been amazing. The flooring no longer feels like something I need to work around. Instead, the room feels warm, elegant, and inviting. What I appreciate most about Sue is that she didn't try to impose a particular style on me. She took the ideas I had in my head and somehow turned them into a space that feels like me. Her international design experience gives her a different perspective, and her ability to mix classic elements with unique pieces makes the design feel personal rather than predictable. She also has a wonderful eye for creating a home that feels polished without feeling overly decorated or staged. Everything feels intentional, but still comfortable and lived-in. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found Sue, and I couldn't be happier with how my home turned out. She took a space I already loved and helped me see it in a completely different way

My friend was having her floors done so I accompanied her on a visit to review samples and the visit was a pleasant one, to say the very least. The gentleman, who is also the owner, was very thorough in walking us through the samples and color of different types of laminates. It was especially neat to see how far laminates have evolved. Gone are the days of flat and plain. The laminates of today are ridged and given texture to reflect the complexities of natural wood, right down to the knots and whorls! We ended up taking two samples home to see if they matched with her furniture and to ensure consistency with the surrounding flooring.
