Please don't put a lot of value on the negative reviews that you read against S&H. Those negative reviews sound personal to me somebody that has a personal problem or other issue with them..for whatever reason. I've never had bad service at S&H. They have always treated me with respect and repairs were done right, shown me the problem, and I was never overcharged. They have always worked me into their schedule, and if it's necessary to be there more than one day, they always lock it up at night inside. There was some special nuances of my new to me car and this shop was recommended by a mechanic I trusted. The shop was busy. Steve mostly answered the phone Henry was the one that handled my personal face-to-face dealing. I have learned when going to a shop with two brothers to consistently talk to the one handling the current visit. I needed and wanted a full inspection. I asked him to prioritize the urgent repairs. I found Recommendations were fair and logical for the mileage and age of the car. So I had the urgent repairs done. There were two other things that were found but I was told and just to keep an eye out on it. During a work order signatures I mentioned needing new tires and Henry listened to how I plan to drive the car. I got several quotes from other tire shops and everyone wanted to sell me competition grade tires. These tires were quoted at astronomical prices with no warranty even though I mentioned this was just my top down, cruising easy, weekend car. There was no intention of taking her to a track or any street races. I am so glad that Henry listened. A few phone calls more and Henry mentions that his brother Steve had done research on the tires. It took a bit of effort to find the exact spec and matching tread. My next concern was to get the alignment and balance done. This was outsouced and I had every assurance it was done to spec alignment details were printed out to prove it. I was told to come back just to check all the fluids in a week. I told Henry I felt a little overwhelmed with all the things about my new car and needed a bit of help learning more about her. Henry went above and beyond to show me and I felt confident with taking care of her. My car drives like a dream. read more

Henry is an excellent mechanic as well as a very helpful and genuine person. While driving from LA towards Las Vegas, I had a problem with my 350z overheating and had to have it towed to S&H. I stopped by the shop less than an hour from closing. He didn't have to stop what he was already doing but he did and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had my car repaired by noon the next day saving me having to spend money arranging alternate transportation and an additional night in a hotel. Not being from the area I didn't really know where to turn but Henry gave me plenty of helpful information on where to stay and pointed me in the right direction. These guys are really nice but I just haven't had great service. They replaced a part that kept grinding and I had to come back 4+ times because they couldn't figure out the correct part number. Even though they never charged me for the times I returned(Obviously because it was their fault) but something else seems to fail when I take the car home: Distributor started squealing. Brought it back to replace an oil seal they forgot about, took it home and the next day the power would shut off for a second everytime I pushed the brake pedal. I highly doubt it's a coincidence, they do this in hoping you will come back so they can charge for the problems they caused to make up for the "free labor" that they should've done the first time correctly. read more

Found this spot when I was staying in Lynwood about 5 years ago. The brothers, Steve and Henry were straight out and honest about what we needed. And we had a Jetta so let's say I saw them plenty. Skip to now. Fiancé and I have since moved to Pasadena. Oil change, we'll get over here. But anything major that I need, I drive to Downey to go see Steve and Henry. Our car, 2014 Fusion, had all kinds of alarms going off and I thought $$$$! Took the car and spoke to Henry and even though he was elbows deep in another vehicle, he plugged in my car and checked the codes. Told me real quick what his guesses were and asked if I can come back on Monday so he has more time to check it out. Gladly. Took it in on Monday and spoke to his brother Steve. Steve hooked it up and read all the error codes, took it for a test drive and told me it could be a sensor or the ABS module. He ordered the $20 sensor and the $60 cable. Couple of hours later, car was done, running beautifully and since he didn't need the $60 cable, he didn't put it in so we weren't charged that extra $$. I never about getting ripped off here. My parents started bringing their cars here as did my brother and sister in law and I'll be a customer for life! They love their business and take care of their customers. read more

Oh my goodness - Steve and Henry are wonderful. Had a problem with the starter on my Chevy Express. They fixed the starter, then put in a new starter, then had to find out why the new starter wasn't working. They spent all day looking for where things were shorting out. I came in at 9:45 and they told me it would take about 45 minutes for a basic oil change plus a maintenance check. Two hours later they gave me a list of what was wrong with my car. For the last 15 minutes I was waiting for Steve to guve me a breakdown of the services my car needed. He apologized but I don't understand why it took that long to get back to me. It took another 20 minutes to give me the breakdown. Once I got the breakdown he had to run to something "Really quick" which took another 25 minutes. The main reason this place doesn't get a higher review isn't the inflated prices (in my opinion but granted, I'm not exactly a knowledge source when it comes to cars) it was the time spent waiting when I could've been somewhere else having the problem fixed. My car was in need of an oil change and i didn't want to take it to Jiffy Lube like I had done before. I had noticed that my car had been leaking oil and I assumed that JL had either not tightened the filter or the oil plug enough and that is why it was leaking. I had also noticed that there was a section of the plastic under body guard that was loose. So I called and spoke with Steve and made an appointment to come in. Once there I dealt with his brother Henry and he was totally cool and began to work on my car. I explained to him about the leaking and the loose plastic and he said he would look at it. Once he lifted the car we saw that JL had actually forgot to install two bolts that hold the plastic guard in place. Also noticed that it was my steering pump that was leaking. Henry installed a pair of bolts (free of charge) to hold the guard in place and then Steve quoted me a price to fix the pump. The whole time I felt no pressure whatsoever to get the work done. The whole experience was good. Steve and Henry are a pair of great guys. I highly recommend this place. read more

I've come here a couple of times with issues with my family car. I absolutely love their honesty and great customer service. I was able to call in and drop off my car. I initially went in because my car was involuntarily honking because of a loose counter weight in the steering wheel but they found a leaky oil pan or something? Idk the terminology escapes me but it made sense because my car has ALWAYS been leaking yet no once could find the cause. But they did! They kept me informed all along the way. Super happy with the quote! At the end, I had asked if they could sell me a light bulb bc one of my brake lights was out. They offered to install it but I explained I had gotten rear ended & the trunk didn't open anymore so I'd have to crawl in but they offered to take a look & to my amazement they got it open!
