I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this company was so frustrating that I feel other customers should be aware of it. The only reason I gave this company another opportunity was because of the positive relationship I had years ago with their grandmother, Mary. She was always honest, professional, respectful, and straightforward. Out of respect for her and the reputation she built, I decided to contact this company again despite concerns I had from previous work they performed at my home. One of those concerns involved a prior job where roof tiles were damaged while work was being performed around my solar panels. That experience already made me hesitant to hire them again. When I recently contacted the company, I specifically requested an estimate for pressure washing. That was the primary reason for my call. I also mentioned that I might have a limited number of living room windows cleaned. I was very specific. I never requested a quote for washing every window in my house, and I never expressed interest in a full-house window cleaning service. Despite that, during the first visit, one of their representatives began walking around my property counting windows and discussing a full-house window cleaning. I never gave permission for someone to walk around my property counting every window, nor did I ask for an estimate on all of them. Shortly afterward, I began receiving communications focused on full-house window cleaning even though that was never the service I requested. The reason I was not interested in having all of my windows cleaned was based on a previous experience with one of their employees. During a prior window-cleaning service at my home, I was uncomfortable with the employee's behavior inside my house. In my opinion, he appeared more interested in looking around my home than focusing on the work itself. I found his behavior unprofessional and intrusive, which is why I specifically limited the windows I was willing to have cleaned this time. The pricing issues were even more concerning. During the first visit, I was given one pricing structure. I specifically asked to speak with the owner, Noah. The person who came to my property did not tell me he was the second owner. Instead, he identified himself as the manager. I repeatedly requested that Noah contact me directly, but I never received a call. I then contacted the office seeking clarification because the pricing information I had received was confusing and inconsistent. At that point, Maria, who is an employee of the company and not a member of the owner's family, provided me with pricing information for the pressure washing service. I have written documentation of that pricing, including an email and screenshot, which show information that differed from what I was told during the first visit. Based on Maria's pricing and our conversation, I believed the matter had already been resolved and that workers were being scheduled to perform the pressure washing service. I was not requesting another estimate. In fact, the entire purpose of my earlier calls was to obtain clarification regarding pricing so that the work could move forward. Instead, another crew arrived and informed me they were there to provide yet another estimate. I never requested another estimate. I had already spent significant time discussing pricing and scheduling. At that point, I expected the work to begin. While at my property, I was then presented with additional charges, including equipment charges that had not been clearly disclosed during earlier conversations. Once again, the explanation I received differed from what I had previously been told. The pricing discussed by the second representative was different from the pricing I had received from Maria, creating even more confusion regarding what the actual cost of the service would be. At that point, it felt like every person I spoke with had a different version of the pricing, a different explanation of the services, and a different understanding of what was supposed to happen. The lack of consistency was unbelievable. What should have been a simple request for a pressure washing estimate turned into multiple visits, conflicting pricing information, repeated requests to speak with ownership that were ignored, discussions about services I never requested, and a complete lack of clear communication. The final email I received from the company attempted to suggest that they had simply spent time providing estimates. What that email failed to acknowledge was the confusion created by their own representatives and the contradictory information provided throughout the entire process. Customers deserve transparency, honesty, professionalism, and consistent pricing information. Unfortunately, that was not my experience. Pat installed our lights this year and he was the rudest employee ever. They installed our neighbors lights and they said he was very honorary. Pat installed our lights and on November 17. We wanted the lights installed so we could have them on for our grandkids on Thanksgiving. This is a family tradition that did not happen 2025. The lights did not work after an hour of installation. S & J sent out a team on Friday November 28 the day after Thanksgiving. That team was very professional and got the lights working. They also installed our sons lights and they did not install them correctly.3 strikes and you are out. All 3 households will never use or recommend S & J Home Maintenance. Further more my wife called and spoke to Maria about the situation. She called my wife back and said the owner said that they will longer be servicing your home. I would like to give 0 stars, the system won't let me. I arranged for pressure washing the exterior of a building and also cleaning the exterior windows. They gave me a price which I agreed to. I called in a second time to make sure we had an understanding it was the whole exterior building they were going to wash, she called the guy in charge to verify, had me on hold, came back and said yes, they were doing the whole building. Then they called me the morning on the job and tried to charge me more money for doing the exterior of the building, after I already verified it twice with them that the exterior was getting done. They packed up their stuff and left the job. This is absolutely HORRIBLE business, HORRIBLE communication and they obviously screwed up multiple times and were unwilling to fix the problem and honor their multiple mistakes. Really BAD business. I can see why they are getting other bad reviews if this is how they operate. I refuse to deal with companies that don't honor their prices or their agreements. This company is a master class in how not to treat your customers. Thankfully we've only used them to put Christmas lights on our house. In years past the work has been acceptable. However, this year, they sent out a crew that did a very poor job. They daisy chained 3 extension cords together which caused a GFCI to trip in the laundry room (since it wasn't at either upper or lower subpanel or the main panel, it took me a while to find where the issue occurred and I was without power on that circuit (which include an upstairs bedroom for the night). Once I realized the issue, I called them out to address it, which they did after a couple of days. The crew that came out the second time did a better job. Credit where credit is due. They came and took down the lights and when they called to collect, I felt there should have been a reduction in price as a goodwill gesture due to the fire risk introduced by the shoddy workmanship. Huge disappointment with Christmas lights. They broke a number of light bulbs on few LED STRINGS. SHORTENED STRING WITH STAPLE AND CLAIMED STRING NEEDS REPLACEMENT. Blew up fuses from 4 other strings for no reason as it was obvious there was a short. After they left I confirmed string is fine (except for broken lights). I'm really disappointed to give this review. As a realtor, I have used S&J for several years to have windows and/or gutters cleaned at my listings. I've also used them at my own residence. So of course, I called them to clean my most recent property. They were timely and got to work, but I was not present when they finished. That evening I went back to find windows with huge spots on them, some windows that were never cleaned on the inside, and they did not clean the tracks. I contacted them to see how we could rectify the situation, but I had already paid them and I needed the windows cleaned for the local agent tour the next morning. So the next morning, my seller and I spent an hour cleaning the windows. Once Maria called me back that day, I told her that I had to finish the job myself and asked if maybe I could get a refund or partial. I sent her pictures of the windows and she had to go to the owner to find out if they could accommodate. After more than 10 years of utilizing S&J Windows I will never contract with them again. In late May I requested services for two residential homes in Gold River. Upon my initial request I asked if a specific technician could service my homes which was granted. Tom a technician was requested due to his professional attitude and ability. On day of service no Tom. My residence is a two story home upper windows rear and front entry. After completing inside and out S&J left the residence. Next day upper rear window screen fell out exposing an open window not a big deal on its own. Upon inspection I observed white paint or some substance on my freshly painted wood siding. Seeing this I went and checked the entire house with the shock of finding the same issue on my front entrance window area. I then made a call to S& J to have someone take a look at the issue. Today partner owner Brett arrived and denied vehemently responsibility for the issue. S&J utilized a ladder with safety bracing which matched the area and measurements exactly. I personally observed upon arrival the technician with a ladder wrapped with a towel or rags which must have had paint or some other substance which was transferred to my siding. After some discussion I explained and expressed my concern with the owner. At that point Brett stated that he hated working in Gold River and drove off. After spending more than $400.00 that day and six months prior I would have hoped for more concerns. Given this recent issue this will be the last time that I will use S&J Window. We used S & J window cleaning in the past and had a good experience, however things have changed. We recently hired them to clean our windows and explained that our front door is very fragile and extra care should be taking when cleaning the beveled leaded glass. We said it needs to be done by hand, so be extra careful! Unfortunately, the crew didn't listen to the instructions we gave them before they started the cleaning and we also explained this to the office when booking the service. The two cleaners hooked up a high pressure machine with solution and sprayed down our front door and washed out the glaze seals around our beveled glass and caused it to leak into our house. Now we are left with leaks and a compromised door because of lack of consideration and poor work. We sent in an estimated to fix the glazing and we get no response from from the company? This is not what we have experienced before and are shocked of the poor customer service! It's not right to do poor work and not to do something to fix the problem they are responsible for causing. We express this lack of consideration to the owner President Jon Livesay and his response was very negative. When he first started his company, Jon himself washed our door's always by hand. Jon didn't want to claim the damage caused by his inexperience workers on his insurance? Why do they carry insurance then? This could have been avoided if your workers listened to the homeowner's instructions, instead of using a first time system to save time that caused the damage. The workers didn't even have the consideration to move the area rug at the door until my wife told them stop! Stop the spraying, it is coming into our house! We have all this high power washing on video the workers mentioned that it was going to save time, but they didn't know how to operate the machine and they were calling each other geniuses. This is the type of worker at S& J, very inexperienced and unable to understand homeowner instructions. Please be careful using S & J to clean your windows. I would never recommend their work. We had the unfortunate experience of having this company come out and clean our gutters. They use blowers to blow everything out onto our privately owned patios below. Clearly taking an easy way to do a job and making a complete mess. And did a less than thorough clean up of the mess they made. So much that my HOA has to send our landscapers to come fully clean up my patio to its previous state. It's very unfortunate that our landscapers have to clean up after this company. I had my roof cleaned on Oct. 4, 2023. It's basically blowing or sweeping the roof, because I have gutter guards that cover the gutters and they can not be removed. I have used this company before with average results, they also charge $50 to come to my home. This time around the pictures speak for themselves. Wasn't very impressed with the guy on the outside (while the guy "chase" on the inside was great at explaining everything) the guy on the outside lacked common sense about cleaning and moving his vehicle when asked. When I complained to the company about the streaked window and dirty screen track Mary responded telling me my window looked failed and they didn't clean frames unless I paid more. It wasn't a frame but a screen track. I talked with her on the phone and texted pictures - to which she defended her statements about a failed window and would send someone to clean if needed. It was one track and one window so I felt I should just clean it myself. In the end I showed her the before and after pictures of a clean window and clean track with no response. I wouldn't recommend this business for Gutter Cleaning. They left a huge mess behind saying they don't clean up what they wash out of the gutters. This left several places with gunk and mud they refused to clean up. There were a few leaves in the gutter grills they refused to remove. They left dirty water on the window and car and mud on our storage units. No pride in their work. And they charged $150!! The price was adjusted after I explained how they left the job. The cleaning was inadequate by the one guy. They did come back out very willingly. The job was better, but some of the windows still had spots and missed areas. They came New Years Eve to clean our gutters. My husband paid them and gave both men a $100 tip each in addition to $450 for cleaning gutters. In addition to smearing and splattering black goo on the walls, one of them broke our gate. Neither of them mentioned it. They took the money and left. When I found it and called Mary, she denied it was them. When I sent the security camera footage clearly showing them breaking it, then standing it up against the hinges before leaving, she sent the same guy who broke it back to our house to fix it. She suggested the gate was old and probably dry rotted as a cause of the damage. It was a shitty repair job and they did it twice, badly, then we gave up and had a new $4500 gate custom made.
