This is definitely a throwback to back in the day when men would call grown women girls. They had the staples: roast beef, Salisbury steak, fried Chicken most of which were part of the GAF menu. I was thinking someone of this generation would say must stand for Good As F*$& but nah. It stood for Great American Favorite. Which includes a bread with a pat of butter and 2 vegetables. Drinks are not included. When we left we went to pay and of course the guy behind said, put an extra dollar on there for the "little girl" that helped us. Bad thing I was not even surprised considering the "little girls" were nature women. Not a bad experience but not one I want to relive but once every 6-7 years if that.

S & S Cafeteria is an awesome place to get a full meal with all of your favorite dishes all in one place for a really good value. I have been coming to this location from ever since I could remember and it has remained consistently great throughout the years and that is an accomplishment. This is a place that everyone can agree on and there is something and usually multiple items for everyone. You get a really good value for all the food you get here and everything is well prepared and tastes home cooked. The staff here is perpetually delightful and friendly and they will cheer you up if you are having a tough day. There is also plenty of room in the dining area for larger groups or meetings if you need the space.

S & S Cafeterias - Charleston has been around forever since they were originally located on St. Philip St. downtown before opening the Sam Rittenberg Blvd location in 1978. The selection and variety is outstanding and the portions are great for the prices. Delicious southern recipes and consistently good service and good food are why this cafeteria chain just celebrated its 85th anniversary. It's a Charleston family tradition in the heart of west of the Ashley.

Good food and a good value. Nostalgia is a draw, too. And who wouldn't like to see their food before they order it?

Rarely busy. Good food. Fair pricing. However, it's a far cry from a fine dining experience.

Their order came with fries and I ordered mashed potatoes and coleslaw with my dinner. Hush puppies and a corn muffin came with my meal. It took about 25-30 minutes for our meal to arrive. My dinner was delicious. Country fried steak was tender and crispy. Mashed potatoes had chunks which I like, the coleslaw was creamy with great taste, hush puppies were fantastic, and the only disappointment was the corn muffin was not warm. My wife loved her burger. Our son enjoyed the hog dog. Service was adequate. For me considering that the food was cooked to,order, I was quite satisfied with the service and the food.

The prices are pretty typical for Charleston prices, but you're getting what you're pay for. I've been here eight years now and it's some of the best food I've had down here in the Low Country! While we were out walking on King Street, a local recommended Stella's, and I'm so glad they did. We walked over from our Airbnb and immediately loved the space. The restaurant has two U-shaped bars in the center, which is my husband and my favorite place to sit when dining out. We went in with zero expectations and hadn't even looked at the menu beforehand, but everything ended up being incredible. The drinks were fantastic, and our bartender/server was so sweet. Even though we were one of the last couples seated that evening, we never felt rushed and were able to enjoy the meal at our own pace. We ordered the non-breaded calamari and a shrimp dish, and the calamari was honestly the best I've ever had. It was incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and the artichokes that came with it were so delicious. Every bite made me happy. We finished with the tiramisu, which our bartender recommended, and it was absolutely outstanding--easily the best tiramisu I've ever had. I'm still dreaming about this meal and would come back in a heartbeat the next time I'm in Charleston.

We were surprised when we walked in and the bar was actually low, with low, spinny bar seats. But it actually was pretty unique and fun! Our server was excellent and gave us great recommendations. We started with the Stella's Kalamari that had sun-dried tomatoes, capers, and artichoke hearts. It was very flavorful and delicious. Something to keep in mind here is that the portions are pretty large. Perfect for splitting dishes and a lot of food for your buck. The stand out dish for me was the spanakopita. It's a flaky, crispy pastry with spinach and feta inside that you dip in tzatziki. What's not to love about all of that?? We splurged a bit on our entree and split the braised lamb shank. The lamb itself was pretty good, but what I enjoyed most was the pasta it comes with. I would maybe suggest trying a different entree. It wasn't my favorite, but it was good. For drinks I got the Cretan, which had cucumber infused gin, lime, rosemary and thyme. It was so refreshing and just what I wanted. I will definitely be coming back here and recommending it to others!

The restaurant is nicely spread out, so even when it's busy, you don't feel crammed in or shouting over the table next to you. There are plenty of TVs and good sightlines, making it easy to stay locked into the game without feeling overwhelmed. The Eats The food holds its own for a sports pub. I've ordered the wings and a couple of burgers, and they've always been enjoyable. That said, the real MVP here is the nachos. Loaded, satisfying, and perfect for sharing -- they're easily the best thing on the menu in my opinion and my go-to order every time. The Service Service has been consistently solid.
