I gave him $9000 and my steam boiler is still loud and banging, he admitted that he subcontracted the job out to a man that had lied about his knowledge of boilers. I have talk to him a dozen or more times and he just makes broken promises. This boiler knocks and bangs so bad we can barely get any sleep. Our boiler went out late Saturday afternoon, and I imagine everyone here knows how hard it is to get someone out to deal with this stuff on a weekend. Our regular guy was MIA, so my contractor phoned around to businesses he's worked with, and found S&S willing to help. The technician, Brad, came out that evening, diagnosed the thermal coupling right away, fixed that, then realized that there was something more going on. He was here until 10:30 that night, and went back to the shop to check for us on a part. He found what we needed (Gas valve) on Sunday evening and came out to finish the job. A friend, who had also worked on the boiler, was in the house and Brad never hesitated to ask him if he would like to take a look at what was done, which to my way of thinking was reassuring, not just as to the quality of the work, but as an indication that there was no leg-pulling going on. Given the weekend and evening work, and the cost of the parts, the bill was not outrageous, and I even got a senior discount. (I believe they also discount for veterans, something I approve of as well.) I phoned the owner this afternoon to tell him how pleased I was, and I wanted to leave a good review because I think these guys are terrific. read more

THIEVES & LIARS!!! On or about December 15, 2011 S&S Heating and Cooling was engaged to replace a hot water boiler in a 21 unit apartment building. An estimate of $40,000 was provided and accepted by TFP LLC and provided a $20,000 deposit toward the work. S&S subsequently replaced the boiler and was required to provide documentation for the insurance claim for TFP to receive insurance reimbursement and subsequently pay the balance due to S&S. S&S provided erroneous and incomplete information to the insurance company delay payment and resulting initially in the denial of the insurance claim. S&S reviewed its documentation and realized that they had failed to provide information that was required and later did so. The end result was the insurance company paid S&S the final balance due for the work that was performed in the middle of February 2012. On May 1, 2012, I received a letter postmarked April 30th, 2012 stating that there was a mechanic's lien placed on the property that work was done for a balance of $15,464.87. No prior conversations or correspondence was received. When the company was called, Natalie who answers the phone and takes nearly all customer calls in the six months that I have done business with S&S stated "yeah we know about that." She went on to say that Tom, the owner, was going to have to call me back. I have not heard anything back. S&S Heating and Cooling received one-hundred percent of the monies due to them 75 days prior to filing a mechanic's lien. They are using improper collection tactics to overbill for work performed. read more

Had a leaking radiator that needed a fix, ASAP. Called Sunday night and had our call returned first thing Monday morning. Due to nature of our leak, they had someone at our front door by 9:30 AM. The guy who showed up (Pat?) was awesome - solved the problem in 30 minutes. He also did a checkup on all of our other radiators in the apartment and made sure everything checked out. Price was also very reasonable. Would recommend to anyone with heating issues. read more

This was an absolute nightmare! It took them four visits to fix our problem. My husband and I woke up one morning to to water leaking through our kitchen ceiling from the AC unit. I was excited at first, because S & S said they could get out there the next day. Well, one gentleman came. He did something to try and fix it, but warned me that may not work. He had a back up plan if it did not. I was ok with that. Well, a few hours after he left I noticed it was leaking again. I called the original gentleman and he said he was busy and hung up on me. I then called the main office. I explained very nicely, the first guy was very nice and had been honest. I wasn't calling to complain about him hanging up. He may have been on a ladder or something. She was nice, and got someone else to come out the next day. The guy came out, saw the problem, but said he'd have to come back the next day with more supplies. The next day he came, he still didn't have the right tools. Well, later that night it started leaking really bad, like he had made the situation worse. This was a Friday night. Meanwhile, our dry wall is getting more and more damaged. This was supposed to be a 24/7 service, so we called. No answer or call back!!! Finally, get a text from the tech Saturday morning. He did come out, and at least for now it seems to be fixed. That took four visits and much stress, though! I call Monday to see at least about getting our service call fee refunded, and had mentioned we were disappointed they didn't provide the 24hr service they advertised. After talking with the owners children, I was told we wouldn't get that refunded. The reason was ridiculous. They didn't want to refund it since, because we didn't stress in the first call we were choosing them because they had 24 hr service. Oh yeah, they record your calls without telling you. That is illegal in the state of Illinois. I was also told I called the tech an ahole. I used no such language! I most definitely did not appreciate that attack on my character. I had been super nice and reasonable up to this point. I asked for the owner or the owners children to call me, and I'm still waiting...This was an absolute nightmare. This is probably the most unprofessional company I have ever encountered. We will be filing a small claims case. read more

These folks are incredibly responsive, helpful and accommodating. The tech knew exactly what needed fixing and fixed it within the hour even when he had to purchase a new part. I called at 9am and by the end of the day they finished the job and my house is warm thanks to S&S. read more

If I could give zero stars I would, but that isn't possible. Stay away. If you do choose to use this company I beg that you really read up into them, who they are, where they are from, everything. Very disappointed in this company, especially the woman who answered the telephone. Oh, and the owner my goodness, never again, never ever again!!!!! I had Abbey formally known as S & S Heating and Cooling install my furnace. They did a horrible job which left me having to pay even more then I excepted ( after being forced to pay for repairs on my home and purchasing a second new furnace ). Hi Ethan-- I don't believe we ever spoke but thanks for your response. As you point out- you are in business to make money. The fact that you tried to charge me 600.00 despite my warranty and I was able to have a new company come in to do the same work for 240.00 is evidence of that. Any arrogance or discourtesy on my end came only after many long phone calls with your confused, disorganized and rude staff. I would characterize it more as sheer anger with having to deal with your company and its failure to stand by its work. Here you continue to evince a finger pointing attitude at the customer which only serves to make you look bad in this or any other venue. The unit has been well cared for (as our management co. will attest) and if you sold me an inferior product (as you suggest in your 1st point) that just points out again how untrustworthy your company is. And yes-- I did provide you with the current phone number-- for 3 years running. And using "having other customers" as an excuse for poor record keeping just makes your office people look amateurish. Again-- I understand the need to make money, but care for your customers and hire techs who behave professionally and I'm sure the money will come. These guys were really great. When my heater broke down this winter they were able to come out and fix it a really reasonable rate. A lot better then what four seasons quoted. Also, the new motor they bought happened to be defective. They came back out and replaced it right away! The repair named Mark was really fast and professional. My AC stopped working so I called a local company, to my suprise they were at my location within 24 hours. Great. The techs called meb and said it would be about $400 parts and labor, 2 hours later they said they were done but the owner had told them to charge me an additional $200 because of the time involved. This was after the work was done, obviously I was stuck. S&S... one of the "S" must stand for Scammers. Be careful with this company. read more

This company is a nightmare. Their tech was 2 1/2 hours late to come look at my rental unit and when I had finally left he had the audacity to ask me over the phone "Dude, where the f*ck are you." He then called me every swear word in the book and dared me to fight him. He also threatened my life. I wanted to warn fellow consumers about this company and their out of control and angry staff. Earlier this week I called Abbey Heat Cool (I guess they are also S&S Heating and Cooling) asking for someone to come out to my three flat building to service the boiler. I wanted someone to come out that day, but nobody could be sent there until the next morning. As promised they had a technician was there at 9:00 sharp (he had called earlier to verify the appointment). He went in and serviced my boiler which took about 45-50 minutes and came out with a whole list of problems. I was not happy! I called another company to come out and they told me the same things, but wanted to charge me much more than Abbey Heat Cool. I called Abbey back and had them fix my boiler which they did, and even gave me a 10% prior customer discount!!! This company was great, very accommodating, and didn't hold it against me that I went to another company because I thought their price was too high.
