I discovered a shiny nail prominently extending from the tread of one of my truck tires but the tire was still inflated. Instead of removing the nail and risking deflation on the road, I stopped at a S & S Tire Center near Nicholasville, KY and asked if they could pull the nail, then repair the puncture. A technician returned from the service area and shared the nail didn't completely pierce the tire and that I was good to go. When I asked what I owed, he smiled and said "nothing." Jimmy at S&S Tire in Brannon Crossing sold my dad four tires. A few weeks later, dad discovered a flat in his parking lot. We went back to S&S Tire, and as soon as we walked in, Jimmy said, "I remember you. How are those tires doing?" We told him about the flat, not far away, and he grabbed an air tank and said, "Let's go." Jimmy discovered a leak in the sidewall, which is not fixable. But without hesitation he said he'd replace the tire (for free). He's got just the right disposition for his job. What a friendly fellow, who you feel is "on your side". Big thumbs up for Jimmy. Fun Fact: He is the youngest of 8 siblings. UPDATE: Posting this so I don't get Jimmy in trouble for giving away free tires. The replacement tire was NOT free. Our family takes our vehicles here for our routine oil changes. They stay busy and wait is usually pretty long, so I recommend dropping it off in the morning, although they do have a nice waiting area with coffee, tv, etc. (pre-COVID) The staff here is always really friendly and I feel comfortable knowing they're not trying to sell me things that aren't needed for my vehicle. I also like that tire rotations are included with oil changes which many places charge separately for and you can download a coupon from their website. read more

I have taken my 2001 Subaru Outback to this location multiple times and honestly the experiences are OK. Eventually the problem was resolved but it was always the same dance. I drop the car off, wait a few days or at least a day, pick up car, get home & realize that the problem is STILL a problem, bring car back and leave it, problem is fixed with no extra charge. I really do appreciate them always re-fixing the issue but just once i would love to pay and leave with it fixed the FIRST time. Their prices are fair. Woah!!! My experience here was so bad that I totally forgot to leave this review a month ago!! I left it on multiple sites as well to warn unsuspecting customers. The manager/owner is too cowardly to address it. In case you don't want to read this long drawn out review, I will go ahead and tell you what happened: They charged me for a service (alignment) that they didn't even perform. I guess they thought that because I'm a woman that I wouldn't be able to tell whether they did it or not. ****************************************** December 2016: This little pillhead town is located on the outskirts of Lexington and since I was in Lexington on personal business, I decided to drive my Mercedes Benz to this place because it was badly in need of an alignment, due to driving the pothole-laced streets of New York. I found the place by doing a Google search and called to ask if I needed an appointment for this service or if I could just walk in. Barry told me that I was looking at a 3-hour wait so I would need to leave my car and they would get to it whenever. I told him that leaving my car wasn't possible because I had no one to pick me up. After the phone call with him, I was walking through their doors within 25 minutes. I walked straight to the counter and told Barry that I was the person he had just spoke to about the alignment. He put my information in the system and I handed my keys to him before having a seat in the lobby next to the windows. There were 4 people already there waiting so I was sure my wait was going to be at least 3 hours as Barry said. About 30 minutes later, I looked out of the window and saw my car being driven up the street. My car windows are tinted so I could not tell which tech was driving it, but it was no big deal because sometimes mechanics need to test drive a vehicle to determine the issue, but I already knew the issue. Twenty minutes later, I saw my car being driven again in the opposite direction. After 30 minutes, James walks into the lobby to tell me my vehicle is ready. Mind you, this 3-hour wait that Barry claimed I was looking at suddenly became a 1.45 wait. I had a funny feeling that something wasn't right because James would not make eye contact with me nor talk to me about my car. Usually mechanics have a lonnnnngggggg laundry list of things or suggestions for your vehicle e.g., wiper blades, air filter, transmission, brakes, etc, but he never mentioned anything vehicle-related to me. Instead, he struck up a conversation with me about my cold, after observing me coughing and sneezing at the counter. His words were, "You sound like you're sick. My wife is sick too. You need to drink some alcohol like Yeigermeister." I said, "I don't do Yeigermeister," and he responded with, "Oh maybe some Hennessy." Really, dude? Then he proceeded to tell me the price in a very hesitant manner before I handed him my credit card. An hour later, I was driving my car on Interstate 75 and immediately noted that there had been no alignment performed on my car at all! I called this place back while driving and James answered the phone, but we got disconnected before I could tell him this. Once I made it to my destination I tried to call again but they had already closed. I called again the next day and told a guy named John that I was there the previous day and there was no alignment performed on my vehicle and he kept telling me, "just bring it back so we can look at it. Just bring it back." Wtf? Did you not look at it while I was there? They were driving my car up and down the street but never actually took a look at it?? I phoned my credit card company and told them I paid for a service that I did not receive (fraud/deception). My credit card company credited the money back to my account with no issues. S&S didn't even attempt to defend themselves or fight back so this just confirms what I knew already. I read reviews on Google about how they ripped off other people too and I wish I had read them beforehand before bringing my car here. I ended up taking my vehicle to another auto shop who aligned my tires with no shadiness attached. They even allowed me to come out into their work area to show me how terribly off balance my tires were before correcting it. I took photos too!! See photos!! There is no telling how many other people they have done this to, or attempted to do this to. Save yourself and your vehicle from this shady business and go elsewhere for service!! read more

My car seemed badly out of alignment, and I magically received a coupon in the mail for this service at S&S. So the choice seemed obvious. I went up to the desk to drop my car off, and the attendant actually asked me how my car was riding and tried to sell me a cheaper service (balancing). I have little car experience, so I said "Just go ahead and do both. It probably needs it." A few hours later, they call me to pick it up and inform me that one of my wheels is bent. I could have it replaced, but they moved it to the right back tire just in case I didn't (apparently it's not a safety issue). I only spent $30 (for balancing) above what I expected, and now my car drives like a dream! The service did take a few hours, but for as busy as their Friday seemed to be, it seemed appropriate. read more

Cannot recommend highly enough! Called for a last minute oil change and they were very accommodating and able to get me in as a drop off the same day. They also called to inform me of a sensor that needed replaced (that I had knowingly ignored) and were able to replace it in the same day. Great people, great service! I am not sure how any one has had a positive experience here. Price for service is competitive. It is too soon for me to comment on quality of service. Lack of professionalism merits 1 star. I received a mailer with coupons and thought I would try this place. The coupon was for a $24.99 oil change with conventional oil. The "salesperson," John Shadeh advised me that my car (Camry) cannot use conventional oil and stated I would need their "best" option for oil. This was my first oil change since buying the car. I was ok with the $69.95 price and would choose the "best" option regardless of the price, but wish I had left then to avoid his condescending and confrontational attitude. I called my dad who works on cars to verify the merit of synthetic vs conventional oil for a Camry. I also reviewed the owners manual at this time. It was clear John Shadeh had overheard my phone conversation as he kept asking if I had questions for him, I stated I did not. I felt uncomfortable with him continually asking me that and I went to the window to check whether my car had been taken back as I was going to request my key and leave. It was taken back and I was not sure whether the work had been started so to avoid any conflict, I resolved that I would accept this as a lesson to do my research before requesting a service. The exchange when my car was ready solidified why I will not return. Perhaps sensing I was not pleased with S & S Tire, John Shadeh told me that it is on my oil cap that my car only uses synthetic oil then took me to my car to show me and told me it was in the owners manual. I told him I had already reviewed the owners manual. He said, "and it says you can't, doesn't it, do you want to get the manual out of your car and check." He then stated that it will void the warranty if used conventional oil. My car is no longer under warranty. Then he stated, "you seem like you are mad at me because your car takes synthetic oil." It is inappropriate for him to comment on my demeanor. I had not raised my voice or expressed any anger at him. At this point, I wanted my car and to leave as I was no longer comfortable dealing with his condescending and antagonistic attitude. I paid for the service and left. I will note that after the service was done, at check out, he honored the $5 discount with my mailer coupon. The total was $83.66. Next oil change, I will pay the $10 extra to go to their competitor. read more

I've never gotten good customer service here since my initial visit for four new tires in November 2016. On that occasion, I was supposed to get $50 off because I bought four, but the service person didn't know anything about it. It was a promotion I received in the mail and was the only reason I went there in the first place. I ultimately was given the $50 when I called on another day and spoke with someone else, but he acted as though I was bothering him by asking for the promotion that was promised. Part of the enticement, to get my four tires there was that I received coupons for four free oil changes in the coming year. However, they don't seem to be able to accommodate that coupon unless you drop your car off the day before for a Saturday oil change. I would've waited but I was told I would have to have gotten there at 7:00 a.m. (I arrived shortly before 9:00 a.m. yesterday & was turned away.) I was told, "We're doing drop-offs only now. You don't want to wait." During the week, they close at 7:00 p.m. I said I couldn't possibly get there in time then since I work at a hospital and I don't get off until 5 or 5:30. This isn't a major repair; it's an oil change. Call me unreasonable but I took my car elsewhere and got my oil changed on the spot. It seems those free oil change coupons aren't worth the paper they're written on if they can never accommodate them without my going without a car for a long time or without my taking off work. read more

Today I bought some new tires, S & S It started out as a good experience but didn't finish that way. I liked that it was new and the waiting room was clean and comfortable. I thought the price seemed high but apparently I have an expensive tire size. I thought it seemed fair enough and I asked specifically to my salesman are there any other fees you'll be tacking on at the end? Like environmental fee or disposal fees or whatever? His response was a very confident " oh no it's built right into the cost of the tire." Sounded great so put 'em on I said. Now here's where it went bad - first he kept calling me " young fella" I'm 45 and we were close to the same age or he was even younger by a few years - it was very patronizing- but ok whatever. Then came several attempts to upsale me, no no and no , and again whatever it's his job. So it was ready pretty quickly that was good and I paid but it seemed just a bit more than we had discussed. After I went out to my car I analyzed the receipt and there it was 2 fees per tire for the "disposal " the old ones . Not much but it's the principle sometimes. So back in I go and they say oh He just left sorry- I had only been outside for a couple of minutes. I explained the situation and was told that they change everyone these fees. I again told this guy that I asked specifically and was told it was built into the price of the car. He said well that's too bad your guy shouldn't have told you that ( if he did?) I said he hasn't gotten far call him and get him back here. He refused and said " well do you just want the old tires back then" I let him know his smart mouth was not appciated and he quickly refunded part of the fees. Our car which also needs replacements will not be rolling into this shop. Liars and smart mouths are not what I'm looking for in good customer service. read more

I have taken my 2 cars here the last 4 years for oil changes and bought a set of tires from them for each car and had brakes replaced on 1 car. They missed my break bads being worn down to the rotors the first time and now again less than a year later on the same car. They tell me that just happens sometimes and offer no solution except to replace everything again for $800. They are TERRIBLE to work with and I will not being giving them any future business. Very disappointing because I have stuck with them throughout to give them the benefit of the doubt with average service. Not any longer. read more

Took my car in for an inspection for Uber. I told them a had a brake light out and asked for them to replace that bulb for me when they did the inspection. Left my car there for 6 hours and when I called to see if it was ready they told me it was almost done and sent someone to pick me up from work, which was really nice. They failed me on my inspection, saying I needed new tires and brake pads (at a tire place, imagine that!). Failed to replace the bulb, and when I mentioned it, the mechanic went out and came back with a bloody hand, saying my socket was broken and he cut his hand trying to get it out?? So today I took my car to a different tire place and they said my tires still had more than half of their life left. Currently checking my brake pads and fixing the socket that the mechanic broke. So it gets even better. I replaced the bulb myself that the mechanic told me was a broken socket, and it's working just fine. And by the way, my brake pads checked out just fine also. Now I have to go pay a different place another inspection fee to get back on the road. read more

I had been going to S&S Tire for years at other locations and thought there would be some consistency of cost of services, but not so. These guys seemed to have a cozy client base that they're pulling in from somewhere and not interested in developing new customers coming in off the street. read more
