I arrived two hours before closing to retrieve my belongings from my car after it was totaled, Instead of being guided or helped, I was met with unnecessary attitude and impatience. I simply didn't know where to go or what the process was, and no one made an effort to explain it to me nor lead me in the right direction . This is my second time using S&T to help with my car issues. Both times Scott was very polite, honest, forthcoming and showed great knowledge to help me understand the mechanics of my car and its issues. He was cooperative and made me feel like I can come to him for help as a woman without the fear or worry of being hustled or cheated- a common fear women have in the mechanics world. He leveled with me and heard my concerns, and offered very fair pricing for the work done. He was very professional, and comforting. The only reason this is 4 and not 5 stars is I think Scott's other mechanics on the team as well as office staff could brush up on their customer service skills and how they handle customer concerns in the office, when Scott is not present. Worst service I have ever had. I take my car in and they supposidly fix the problem, I bring it home and in less than a week something else goes wrong. They don't even test drive the car to see or hear for themselves what's going on. They may tell you everything is OK and then you drive it and it is doing the same thing-- because they don't test drive it. They put it on the computer and if everything checks out OK then the car is OK-- well there is more to check other than the computer items, like breaks for instance! Waisted my time going to them. The poor work they did ended up costing me more because it did more damage to the car! They will NOT stand behind their work. These guys are a class act. I had a shattered windshield from a cement block hitting it and the state police had my car towed to S&T. I used Gerber to replace the glass. Worst experience ever. I give it four stars because aside from being very close to my home, I know I can trust these guys to only do the work that needs to be done, do it well, charge me a fair price, and not make up unnecessary work just to get more money, unlike most of the other spots around the neighborhood. I've gone there for tune ups, brake lines, and exhaust work and I've always been happy with the work and price. I ONLY give it four stars because every time I bring my car in for some basics like an oil change they leave me without a car for two days. I realize they get a TON of business, and I don't expect an in-and-out Jiffy Lube experience, but I've never heard of waiting more than a few hours for an oil change anywhere else. They've never charged me storage fees, which I especially appreciate, but it is still frustrating to be inconvenienced for so long due to basic maintenance. Even so, I do highly recommend S & T if you are looking for a trustworthy, friendly, honest shop. Just be sure to have other transportation options lined up for a few days, no matter what the job is. So long as you are not in a rush they are worth the wait. Maybe it just helps to set up an appointment ahead of time. I might try that. read more

S&T can do oil changes for Mini Coopers. (A special tool is required which many places don't have.) Soooo much easier than trekking out to the dealership. Less expensive too. S&T were also able to get run-flat tires for about half the cost of what a Mini dealership in Schaumburg quoted me. read more

Called in today concerning a problem that I had with my brothers car. My kid brother got activated to do a year long tour in Germany so I have his 2006 Lincoln Zephyr so I'm keeping an eye on it till he returns. In truth, I don't really drive it that much at all only cause I have an suv and I only take it around the block or take it a short distance only to keep the engine running.Well on todays date, I decided to take my brothers car to work and as I was driving I hit a small speed bump along the way and the entire car just shut down, literally shut down as I coasted to a stop near an open parking spot. I did everything in my power to start her up again. So after 10 minutes of utter frustration I decided to call any tow truck company that would pick up. After 3 calls to other tow trucks I managed to get ahold of S&T towing company and spoke to a Bill White. I explained to him the problem and he advised me that many of these new fords and Lincolns now carry these fuel shut off me his jam that I myself was totally unaware of. So after talking to him he advised me to just YouTube the process and I managed to save myself $100.00 simply be self correcting the problem. This my initial review. I reserve to change it ...I was planning a trip to Wisconsin and I wanted to make sure that my older Van was ready for the trip. I have several neighbors that recommend "S &T" highly. So I decided to give then a try. Stan was able to take me in the same day. I was hoping I only had minor items but with a older car... you never know. It turned out that my back brakes were bad and the rotors too... That was the bad news... So, I have a 1999 Jeep Cherokee with a bazilllizion miles on it. 220,000 actually. I was having problems with getting the car started and made it over to S and T on a recommendation from a few of my friends who have lived in the city for a while longer than I had. (also I read the first yelp review and thought...eeeh....we'll see- because I'm kind of an asshole.) Tim is the guy I met up with. He's the son of the owner. I was taken care of and paid a fair price for the work done. They also replaced some minor stuff under the hood for me for free. Not bad! All and all, awesome. I loved this place, everyone was super down-to-earth and made me feel comfortable about what was happening to my jeep. I drive a VERY old car and Scott has done the best job of making sure I can keep her on the road and be safe. He never charges for anything he doesn't do, his prices are fair and if it's something he feels would be too expensive for the remaining life of the car, he tells me not bother and how to adjust and live with it. He could do all kinds of work, charge me and I'd never really know the difference, but I have brought her in on more than one occasion and he has taken the time to carefully look her over and test her and not charged me a dime. Horrible service. Got a flat tire on the highway, called for a tow truck. Two hours pass and no call or tow truck so I called the company and asked them if they were on their way and the guy had no idea who I was and claimed I never called them and had the wrong number. Really. Called a different towing company and was picked up in 20 minutes. wow, scott is awesome and did me a huge favor. i have been working for awhile to fix a couple bugs left in my restoration of my baby, and it was recommended that i just throw in the towel and order a new body control module. i found the part for 25% of what another shop wanted to charge for the install, and even though i know scott spent way more than the 1.5 hours labor he billed me for, he knocked it out and now my baby works perfect! here's another clue that he is awesome - he was recommended to me by another mechanic! thanks scott and s&t for a job well done :) read more
