Went to Philly's famous Reading Terminal market. I saw Saami Somi Khachapuri and had to try it after trying bread boat in Austin. Khachapuri is the famous "bread boat" from Georgian cuisine. I got the classic one which just has cheese, egg, and butter in the middle. You mix it up, tear off a piece of the bread, and dip it in. I got the recommended adjika sunflower oil to pair with it and IT IS A MUST. It adds a more complex flavor that is spicy and just makes every bite taste so much better. I felt like compared to bread boat it feels a bit more shallow but it still smacked and my family enjoyed it

I dream of this place. The khachapuri (cheese boats) are delicious. I've tried most of them and never been disappointed. Warm, cheesy comfort food-- what's not to love? The soups are also homemade and tasty. Everything is made with care, fresh, on site. Georgian food is a favorite in the winter months. I bring out-of-town guests here as an example of great Philly food that you may not easily find elsewhere. A friend taught himself to make khachapuri in Colorado after trying it here! If you swing by later in the day you might get some fresh bread on sale to take home for dinner.

With a neon sign declaring "cheese boats", Saami Somi was calling my name! A sourdough bread boat filled with melted cheese? Say less! Their menu is all so appealing but ultimately I went with the shakshuka option which was SO GOOD! The sourdough is AMAZING already on its own but top it with a poached egg and tomato sauce? Perfection. If I lived in Philly, I'd be here all the time. And I'll definitely be stopping in to try another boat and maybe some of their pastries!

Saami Somi was one of my first stops the week I was in Philly and was right up there with my favorites. I'd never had Georgian food before. I talked with the staff member at the counter to guide my decisions. He was helpful in giving recommendations. The cheese boat is the star of the show. It came out looking amazing. It tasted equally as good as it looked. There's so many choices in RTM but Saami Somi should be up there near the top. Definitely recommend for trying something different and for carb and cheese lovers!

I have never had Georgian food before going to the Reading Terminal in Philly. It did not disappoint. We tried their original khachapuri, which is a hot bread dish with cheese in the middle. It was unique and delicious. This was a really nice place in the market because there was seating there so you could take a seat and eat it there. The employees were super friendly and helped us navigate a new food!

Delicious cheese boat. If you are a fan of fresh bread and cheese, don't hesitate, just get it. Very unique spice sprinkled on the top. It's yellow and very herby and earthy. Be prepare for a wait, 15-20 mins. They make it fresh.

I'm always on the search for Georgian food and khachapuri can never go wrong. An absolute must-have when visiting reading terminal. There's a bar with about 8 stools, and seating is a hot commodity in the market. No less than 3 strangers will approach you to ask what you're eating and then they will immediately get in line.

AMAZING! It was my friend's and my first time having a cheeseboat and we went with the Red Shakahuka and a small Adjapsandali Amazing. None of the flavors were too overpowering. The bread WOW is the best we've ever seen used in a savory meal. We went around the time they just opened on a weekday morning. Service was kind and personal. I love the aesthetics and colors of everything even on their website. It was generally easy to navigate.

Food was amazing i went back the second day. The borodinsky cheese boat was very flavorful. I also tried a pear sweet fluffy treat and a focaccia bread. I'd go back to try more. Service was awesome. Highly recommend inside the Reading terminal market

The oxtail cheese boat was so delicious. A very rich dish! There was so much cheese and flavor. The oxtail was seasoned perfectly. My husband and I shared it. He also enjoyed it! The young lady explained the items on the menu and helped with recommendations. I wish we had a shop like this near me!

Modern space among the utilitarian food stalls of Reading Terminal Market. Fast and friendly service, especially if you're not familiar with kachipoori. Food was excellent.

We've been talking about going to Saami Somi for a while ... and with a recent gift card receipt to Reading Terminal, it was our sign to finally make it in. We visited on Juneteenth, which was a SUPER hot day so was a steaming cheese boat our best idea? Probably not. But was it worth it? 1,000% yes. While Reading Terminal was quite busy on the holiday, the Saami Somi had a very digestible line. Their spot in the Terminal is super cute and well decorated with fun prints, non-tacky neon signs, eclectic plants, and a bunch of unique merch. We loved exploring all the options while we were waiting to place our order. While Saami Somi does offer various options, we had our eyes set on the cheese boats, or khachapuri. To keep things simple, I went for the traditional with sunflower oil, and my husband spiced it up a little bit, opting for the shakshuka with garlic labneh. Both were INCREDIBLE. The creaminess of the cheese mixed with the savory egg and encased in the soft dough was so delightful and made for such memorable bites. I was partial to my classic dish, although my husband's with the extra spice and ingredients was also delicious. While they would be far more comforting and warming on a cold day, we enjoyed them so much even in the 90+ degree weather. We both finished ours without issue and without feeling too gross. We washed them down with a clementine soda and a N/A mojito, which paired nicely and were refreshing. The price was quite reasonable for the quality and the portion, and having the gift card was a nice bonus too. I would totally revisit Saami Somi to try more menu items, but it would be tough to stray from their khachapuri .... highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Reading Terminal and looking for a more unique option than the classic Philly cheesesteak :)

I absolutely love this place. I really make it a habit to stop at this place when I'm visiting Philly. Their sourdough bread is delicious along with their Georgian cheese boats. I'll get whatever their special is. I also love their Georgian pear lemonade. It's light and refreshing. I just tried the tarragon lemonade. Not overly strong in tarragon flavor and also delicious. Service is wonderful as always. I usually order and walk around for a little since they make it fresh to order. And their little stall is the cutest with little Georgian decorations.

I saw some nice appetizers and chose a sandwich as well. I started with the Artichoke Hummus with Feta and Grilled Focaccia - it was excellent! Large chunks of artichoke with the creamy hummus and little balls of feta were such a great combination. However, it was the Grilled Focaccia that brought the spread to its peak. Light and slightly crunchy it was so delicious with the hummus! Next up, the Pistachio Herbed Ricotta with Lavender Honey Bruschetta. I took my first bite started to chew and had to close my eyes as I was transported to a 'heavenly' taste. The pistachio with the creamy ricotta was amazing, and with the lavender honey, it was over the top. I told the server it could be a dessert as well! After two great appetizers, I was really looking forward to my 'main dish' - the Smoked Chicken Sandwich with Cabot Cheddar, fresh tomato and arugula, and a truffle herbed aioli (I opted out of the bacon). I took a bite and of this thick smoked chicken breast with a fabulous aioli dressing and was delighted it was every bit as delicious as the appetizers! The chicken was tender complimented by the cheese, tomato and arugula-but I had the dressing come on the side and found myself adding more and more, it was so good! What a gem in Center Cjty - it's a must try!

We found out that most of the people (regulars) who usually come here are on their vacation season so it was not an issue getting a six-top reservation with only a day's notice. The restaurant is huge with at least two mega rooms downstairs and one upstairs. We actually went to the upstairs door to check in only to be told we had to go to the downstairs door and check in there. Once we did, the staff asked if we would be ok with being in the "party" room where there would be a DJ. We were fine with that and the staff was more than happy to accommodate us. Once at our table, the extensive menus made it almost too difficult to decide what we wanted. May want to consider reducing the food options here. My wife and I split a tomahawk steak. Once we ordered it, we were told we should probably move to an eight-top because we would have more space. The place was almost empty at 6:15pm on a Saturday so we got to move and give us some more room. We also had two serving of Plov, a prime NY strip, a roasted beet salad, and a chicken fingers with fries. We added some bread, too, along with some compote. The Plov was some of the best we've ever had with lots of tender meat. Both steaks were cooked to our liking. Fries were killer and the chicken fingers were fine. I did not care for the compote as I'm used to it with fruit still in the drink. At about 7pm, the DJ started but there was no separate party which is what we thought was going to show up. The DJ sang some and played up-tempo dance music but also threw in some known music like Ob-Bla-Dee Ob-Bla-Dah from the Beatles also in the dance music style. So much fun after drinking a lot of our BYOB alcohol. Service was excellent and more than accommodating for us. He even advised when we were getting ready to leave that it was raining hard and we could stay until it died down. The restaurant is colorful with lights and designs on the walls including projector lights and white linen sheets above. The place was clean and also the bathrooms on the lower rear level. $305 not including tip for six adults which included two steaks, two Plov, chicken fingers with fries, three breads, and a compote. I mention a lot with my reviews that I'd come back to a place. I really can't wait to return to Samarkand! It was just a lot of fun with excellent food and service. I hope it's just as good when the place is slammed and full.
