    Everyone at my table loved this cheese bread

    I trudged through snow and bitter cold to try this place with three co-workers. We all fell in love with his place after one meal. Its got a clean, quaint atmosphere where you feel like you're in someone's living room. Everyone loved the meals they ordered. We all shared a large cheese bread, and we couldn't get enough of it. The kabobs hit the spot as well. The Georgian Sauce made for a great dip for various meats and bread we tried. My co-worker needed to find out what it was called so he could try to get some for home. The Georgian Sodas made for a unique drink different than your typical Coke or tea. We all agreed we would be back again as we finished our satisfying meals. Overall its a comfortable and unique little spot that wasn't crowded. Its a tad pricey for a weekday lunch, so it might become your go to spot, but its definitely a cool place to put on your must try list for those working in the area.

    Anna S. and her partner treated my husband and I to dinner at Sakartvelo last month to celebrate my birthday and wow was it a treat! We shared a bunch of dishes including the: 1. Pkhali Trio: Pureed walnuts formed into balls. For this dish, we got to try 3 different flavors of pkhali - eggplant, beet and spinach. Unfortunately, this was our least favorite dish of the night. The only flavor that appealed to us was the spinach one. 2. Chkmeruli: This dish tastes a lot better than it sounds. To be honest, if not for other reviewers' recommendations, we might not have tried it. This chicken dish was cooked in milk, garlic and coriander, making the chicken incredibly flavorful and juicy. The sauce was cooked down to a creamy consistency and was very delicious. 3. Cheeseboat with steak and mushrooms: No meal at Sakartvelo is complete without a cheeseboat! We went with the steak and mushroom toppings, but there are other toppings you can choose from as well. The mushrooms were sauteed nicely. The steak, cooked to medium was delicious! The cheeseboat itself was also dangerously good. I could keep eating it. 4. Georgian barbecue: The meat was seasoned well and grilled to perfection. It was so juicy and tender. Definitely would get again. Dessert was a Napoleon Cake. Anna S. and her partner had stopped by the restaurant earlier that day to drop off cake decorations for the kitchen staff to adorn the cake with it, and they did a great job! The cake was beautiful. What a lovely surprise and the perfect ending to a wonderful dinner. I have to say Sakartvelo blew me away! The food is tasty, portions are generous, and the prices are incredibly fair. The staff was also very hospitable and sweet. Last but not least, they're BYOB! Places like this in Center City are super rare! I highly recommend checking out Sakartvelo.

    Yes! Sakartvelo, who earned it's place on the Top 50 Places to Eat in Philly list, is great. Yelptern Emily F and I enjoyed a lunch here and it was fabulous. I tried: MEGRULI KHACHAPURI: The cheesiest thing I've ever eaten! Soft dough covered in cheese and stuffed with more cheese. This was delicious and a fun alternative to the usual Georgian cheeseboat. KHINKALI: We went with the mushroom and I didn't love this, though I would try the same dumpling again with a meat filling. The dough here is really thick and comes to a somewhat undercooked point at the top. ADJAPSANDALI: Very good and delish to pair with your meat dishes. LULA KEBAB: This is the must order dish, in my opinion. I went with the beef and pork option per our server and this was the right call. So tender and packs a huge flavor punch. Service is brisk and little chilly and I recommend being ready to order when your server first comes over, but regardless this is a great spot for business lunch. I made a reservation but that probably isn't necessary for lunch hour. This is a BYO so plan accordingly!

    Came here with a party of six before noon, no reservations required. It took awhile for us to be served. The "closed" sign and threw us off. Lamb "Mtsvadi" - fries were good, lamb was a bit gamey but came with a nice red sauce to accompany it with. Plain Adjaruli - fun dish to tackle by breaking the egg and pulling bread from the side and picking up the cheese! Mushroom with cheese- lots of cheese lol Mushroom dumplings- broth inside was so flavorful! I was excited to try Georgian food for the first time! The flavor profiles, spice level and item selection is similar to Uzbekistan food. Would I come again? No. Do I resonate with the hype and exceptional reviews? No.

    Came here two days in a row and the waitress gave a double take lmao It's a great Georgian restaurant -- tons of space and great air conditioning. Things are delicious and fun to introduce to people. That said the prices are noticeably higher than a year ago but it's not unfair

    I came here with a party of 6 on a Sunday for 1130 AM lunch. We made reservations since it was our first visit, but may not be necessary since we were the only ones in the restaurant until noon-ish. We started off with 3 appetizers between 5 adults: Adjaruli (cheese boat with egg and butter), Khinkali (Georgian dumplings) mushroom, and mushroom and cheese in claypot. I enjoyed every single one. I've had the Adjaruli before, at Georgian Bread in the northeast and it is soooo good. I highly recommend that everyone tries any version of these if you've never had it before. Light fluffy bread, you mix the egg and butter with the cheese.. and dip all of that carby goodness until it's all gone! I was so pleased to see they offer mushroom or cheese dumplings, since I don't eat red meat. The dumpling was delicious! It's almost like a Georgian soup dumpling, I thoroughly enjoyed the savory flavor of this mushroom dumpling. The mushrooms and cheese in a clay pot - what is not to like.. if you like mushrooms and cheese don't skip this. I opted to try the chicken skewers (Mtsvadi). The skewers at Georgian were better in my opinion, juicier and more flavorful. But theses were still very good. The sauce was interesting, I couldn't put my finger on the flavor - but definitely tomato based. The potatoes were okay, a bit bland and soft although they visually looked like they would have some texture or bite. Overall we had a solid experience, they're also BYOB! I would definitely return for my next Georgian craving, and so happy I don't have to trek to the northeast anymore!

    It was a cold rainy day but thankfully reservations were made for this brightly lit Georgian spot on Chestnut in Center City. Walking through the doors you smile as the various aromas reach you. You can't help but notice the delicious array of plates on one diner's table by the door. Those dumplings sure look good. A friendly greeting keeps the positive vibes going! It's a simple menu and a nice grouping of "cheese boats" on the special sheet. BYOB by the way but the litre of water on the table is all that is needed. Chose boscht to start and went with the "w/o beef" option. The entrees were Chicken Mtsvadi and Mushroom Okakhuri. The beet soup was a nice blend of flavors that were enhanced by adding in some of the sour cream that was plate side. The entrees looked and smelled great. They replicated the images on the restaurant's website. But ... you could immediately notice the heavy dose of potatoes. The huge pieces of perfectly seasoned chicken from the kabobs in my Mtsvadi were accompanied by "fried potatoes" that were essentially french fries. Long, flavorful and hot French fries. Only a few circles of red onion completed the plate ... I really wish there were more onions and less fries. Perhaps another vegetable. The "satsebeli" red sauce was tasty (Rather than just posting "sauce" on the menu I think they should have named it for what it is.). The "Okakhuri" was beautiful to look at and tasted great but amidst the field of potatoes where were the mushrooms??? This dish had plenty of fried onions adding to the flavor and was also accompanied by a pitcher of satsebeli. Warm, friendly, and a comfortable place to eat Especially if you like potatoes.... we left many on our plate.

    Amazing Georgian food in Philly! The staffs are super friendly and were able to accommodate some requests for a birthday celebration. We had a good time here trying all the food. I highly recommend eating family style.

    My first time trying Georgian food was an exceptional experience. What was supposed to be a quick dinner before my late flight departure opened my mind up to delicious georgian bread. The steak in the adjaruli was perfectly cooked over a hot and tasty cheese surrounded by a soft border of bread. The bread itself was already good and paired with the cheese and steak made the dish phenomenal. The chkmeruli contains whole chicken in a garlicy and creamy sauce. The chicken is cooked perfectly tender and the sauce pairs nicely with it. The service was attentive, friendly, and welcoming! The ambiance feels warm and pleasant, and added to the wonderful experience. *BONUS: do not underestimate the adjaruli, it is easily shareable amongst 4 people and pairs well with any dish you get!

    Some authentic options and delicious. Nice to have a piece of Georgian cuisine downtown. There is another place or so in far Northeast Philly. Some people have hit or miss here depending on what you have. Come here to try local style cuisine and not American stuff you can get anywhere. The typical American items are for those with weird allergies or weird food texture sensations but what they do best is their local food cuisine. There was no cream for people who ordered coffee if that tells you anything. The beet soup had onions and peppers w it and purposely a healthy choice I made. I remember from my own travels that beet delicacies are something Russia proper is very good at and not just Georgian cuisine. I had a steak bread special which was flavorful and juicy with the cheese and a slight alternative from the classic break with poached egg and cheese dish. The quince is a sweet juice very palatable with a mainstream crowd and the feijoa is also good but has a crisp flavor that some people might not care for. I personally enjoyed both and wish I took the leftover feijoa juice and quince fruit in the bottle to someone on the street . The ideali cake is not too sweet and flavorful with nuts. Two layers of cake and a clean taste and not overpowering. The flavor is hazelnut or similar. Nice cultural items decor on the wall and an upstairs banquet room. The kitchen or part of it is upstairs. So makes it easier to serve banquet room but harder to serve on first floor since things must be carried by hand up and down stairs by the servers. The servers were polite and seemed very localized to the food style served here.

    This place has it all. We grabbed a table for 2 Friday night with no wait. The space inside is large and open -- great for groups; take your friends; take your family. The menu features options for everyone. The staff is so courteous and friendly -- we felt very comfortable here. Last but not least, the food is amazing. We ordered a bunch of dishes, each executed perfectly as you'll read below. We'll certainly be back here. The food and experience were wonderful. "Adjaruli" Khachapuri - We wanted to try their classic cheeseboat before moving on to the specials, which feature veggies, steak, or prosciutto along with other fancy fixings. The classic is loaded with cheese and topped with a little butter and an egg, which is all mixed together for dipping the crisp and fluffy bread around it. This was delicious, and it's quite large -- good for probably up to 4 people to be honest. We had a good chunk and only got through about half to ensure we wouldn't spoil our entrees. Check out the pictures -- plated elegantly with a nice cheese pull once mixed in. Mushroom Khinkali - First off, these were much larger than we were expecting -- hands in picture for reference. The mushroom filling was rich and plentiful. The dumpling dough held up very nicely upon eating. Our server gave us the basics on eating these -- best eaten with your hands to properly enjoy. Very tasty, and again, plentiful. Veal Rib Mtsvadi - The Mtsvadi features your meat of choice topped with onion along with fried potatoes. The dish was filling. The meat was seasoned well and very tasty. The fried potatoes weren't very crispy, but still delicious. A solid dish overall. Value: 5/5 Quality: 5/5 Quantity: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5

    This was such a nice way to spend the evening. I had little idea of what to expect but this place did not disappoint. Khachapuri or "cheeseboat" seems to be an important order, so we ordered the steak adjaruli. The bread was delicious and filled with steak and mushrooms in red wine sauce. The flavors were tasty, however the steak a bit tough, but it had great flavor and we devoured it. We also ordered an appetizer of mushrooms and cheese that were served in a sizzling pot. So good dipping the edges of the bread from the khachapuri. The prices are reasonable and it's a byob. I intend to go back and order different items from the menu. I'd never had Georgian food before and appreciate this place that offers it. I'll be back!

It was a wonderful experience to share and try food together, get to experience some new things, but still feel confident that there will be something up your alley. We LOVED the food so much, the beef soup dumplings and hot apps were the highlight for me, the service was wonderful, the ambiance is different depending which side you sit on (I prefer the right personally, while the left is more modern) but it's beautiful no matter what. It's BYOB, which is very easy and personally I love bringing my own bottle. There are also drinks, including a fun tarragon Georgian soda for non alcoholic options. I'd definitely come back, I'll be enjoying this spot as much as I can before it's too hard to get a table! It's also nice that they are open relatively late. One suggestion: print a prix fixe menu! Our wonderful server was so knowledgeable about the food and explained everything to us, but it would be nice for people to see a menu describing it in advance so they can see all dishes they get with this option.

Out of the three flavors we chose, we all agreed carrot tasted the best! Chicken Skewer (3.5/5) - I had a taste of this and it wasn't anything special compared to the rest of the dishes. But then again, I'm not usually the biggest fan of chicken skewers so I could be biased. Chicken petite (5/5) - Chicken was nice and juicy and came with a delicious tomato sauce. Imeruli Khachapuri (5/5) - A classic, everyone loved these! They're like a super cheesy calzone, but better. They are heavy so one for the table should be enough!! Khinkali (4/5) - the dough on these soup dumplings are on the thicker side. The original is the meat dumpling, but I think I preferred the mushroom one! Chashushuli (4/5) - Nice stew, did not taste spicy though. It leans more on the sweeter side but I still enjoyed it. Kuchmachi (5/5) - wowowow I was so obsessed with this dish!! The mushrooms paired with the mashed potato and chef's sauce were delicious!!! I couldn't get enough of the flavors and was the highlight of my meal!! Tolma (5/5) - I love stuffed cabbage and this did not disappoint. All in all, I'm so glad I was able to try Kinto and would definitely return to try the rest of the menu!

The place was almost empty at 6:15pm on a Saturday so we got to move and give us some more room. The place was clean and also the bathrooms on the lower rear level. $305 not including tip for six adults which included two steaks, two Plov, chicken fingers with fries, three breads, and a compote. I mention a lot with my reviews that I'd come back to a place. I really can't wait to return to Samarkand! It was just a lot of fun with excellent food and service. I hope it's just as good when the place is slammed and full.
