My wife took a ring into Farid Saatchi at the Irvine store he was at to see what it would sell for. He told her it was worth only $1500 retail. He said he would sell it for her and take a 10% commission. My wife agreed. She went back to the store in Irvine many times only to be told that "no, it hasn't sold yet". When my wife learned that the ring (gold ring with 3 diamonds weighing over 1.2 carats) was worth much more, she went to get the ring back only to be told that Farid Saatchi moved his store to Mission Viego. I went to retreive the ring in Mission Viejo. When I asked for the ring back he said he didn't have it, that it could be at a different store, it could have been lost or it could have been stolen. He offered to give me credit for $1,350 from his jewelry catalog. I told him I wanted the ring back or its full retail value. I am pretty sure he sold the ring for much more than the $1,500 long ago and was hoping he'd get away with never having to pay for it, especially having to pay 90% of what he sold it for. My wife was not aware of the gemologist appraisal done in 1984 that showed the ring with a retail value of $4,650, 27 years ago. Added response on 3/28/2012 after Mr. Saatchi replied to my review: Isn't it interesting that if you read the other comments before mine there is a pattern. Two people give the highest possible reviews, 5 stars, and basically sound like they are advertising for Mr. Saatchi. One of them even includes a link to Mr. Saatchi's website. The other four reviews are very specific in their stories and all give Mr. Saatchi the lowest possible rating. At best, four out of six people had a terrible experience with Mr. Saatchi. At worst, one or two of the 5 star ratings are not real. What do you think your chances are of having a good experience? Why are all reviews either the best or the worst? Take a look at Mr. Saatchi's response to my review of 8/21/2011. He doesn't deny any of the facts of my review, not a single item His response is eight months after my review. Mr. Saatchi states in his reply, "...please give me a second chance to make good what i missed, i will work harder to fix this problem...". Mr. Saatchi has done nothing for eight months to make this situation right. He didn't contact me to make it right, he wrote a response on Yelp. Would you call that "working hard to fix the problelm"? In his defense Mr. Saatchi says, "...being in business for over 10 generations, and working 7 days a week from 7 am to 7 pm and handling over 1 million clients by my self, i'm not perfect and i'm human". Apparently Mr. Saatchi is on his tenth life time. Is that human? Let's assume that Mr. Saatchi has handled a million clients in his life time, by himself, as he says. Let's do the math. We'll assume he has been in business for 30 years, is open 360 days a year, works 12 hours a day and has a million clients. Here is the math, 30 years X 360 days = 10,800 days of work X 12 hours a day (just with his customers) = 129,600 hours worked. A million clients serviced in 129,600 hours equals 7.716 clients per hour. (1,000,000 divided by 129,600 hours equals 7.716 clients per hour or 7 minutes and 46 seconds each). If he services each of his million clients only once and gives them equal time, he has spent less than 8 minutes with a client on average. Maybe you can service fast food clients at the rate of 8 minutes each. However, I don't think people buying jewelry average less than 8 minutes each. How long does it take to pick out a diamond or an engagement ring? How long does it take to size a ring? Can all that be done 12 hours a day, 363 days a year for 30 years at 7 minutes and 46 seconds, each? A million clients and only six reviews, four of them bad, eight minutes each. I am a bit flabbergasted at the amount of positive reviews for this store... I went in for the $0.99 battery change and he offered to change the pin on the watch strip. I agreed not thinking it would be much but he ended up charging me $10 for the pin! The guy is a crook. Beware and don't let these bogus 5 star reviews fool you! read more

A charlatan company. Never trust this Saatchi company. I took my gold coins to Saatchi in January 2018 and we agreed on a number that he would sell them for me. I specifically asked him to sell the coins at the same time and pay me in a lump sum. He took 4 months to pay $500 and when I asked him to return my coins he said they were sold on ebay and it was out of his hands. Every time he told me a new story and refused to return my coins or pay the remainder of the money he owes me.. He lied and never paid the amount that he promised for my coins. It has taken more than 8 months and even today he says first I have to deposit the money in the bank in order to get my coins back. I don't trust him. I don't want to return the money without getting the coins. I offered to bring cash and get my coins back but he says it's not possible. The account he gave me to deposit the money is his store's account and he says I have to pay back ebay. The ebay is a big lie. He refuses to give me the coins back and doesn't pay the remainder of the money he owes me. I will get a lawyer and put an end to this shenanigan. What a shame. read more

These guys claim they engrave when they actually send it out. All I asked on a sig. ring was to remove my initials and engrave my last name in kanji. Came back with scribble and couldn't make out what was scratched in. To simplify this issue I asked for them to once again remove that mess and engrave my initials in block style. The ring came back fine this time however I asked them to engrave the initials in black and guess? So another week passes comes back fine! Within a week the paint began to come off! Dropped off again they tell me next week I call and they say the following week! If you want to stress yourself out this is the place to come! So I arrive to pick up my order a 5th time to my disbelief tomorrow! WTF! These guys need to close their doors! read more

I brought in a necklace for repair and he said he would have the next day. I came back the next day and he tells me he had to ship it out to get the right piece (the pt that went missing was the most basic loop in a necklace, typically easily fixed). When I came back 3 days later, I wait for 20 mins while he looks for it and tells me he must've left it at his other store. He also rudely talks on his bluetooth in the middle of our conversation. Saatchi then promises he will call me and will deliver it if I need. This is a Wednesday and I needed it for the weekend. He never called and never delivered therefore I didn't get to wear my piece with my outfit on my vacation. Today, the following Wednesday, I personally went there to pick it up and will never EVER go there again. read more

I had gone back many times to see if he had any cash to give me and it dribbled in. In the end, he gave me a ring for the last $4,000 that he owed me. I came here to have my 2 watches polished & a bracelet re-sized. I have an LV & gold Michelle Serein watches. It was not bad of scratches but I'd like to keep my jewelry nice and new. I needed a watch service that can do it fast since the vendor takes about 4 weeks or so in service. So I took it here to see if they can do it. They quoted me $100 for all 3 items. Well, my LV turn out fine but my gold Michelle Serein watch side of the watch bezel and some links gold color turnished. At first I was hesitant to do the Michelle watch since the guy that was working on it had some comments but since he cannot speak very good English I could not really understand him. Saatchi and him were talking and it felt like he insisted him to do it anyway. I was in a hurry that day, and told them I'd come back another day but Saatchi was quite pushy that he said it ok it can be done in about 40 minutes or less. He can get their money worth for a quick job. But I wished he could have been honest and say they can't do it or it will harm the color of the watch. When I picked it up, it was hard to tell the color was turnished due to the light and since I was in a hurry, I did not bother to look more closer and check it on a different light. Now, I had to take it to the store I bought my watch from(Nordstrom) and they said that the wtach don't normally turnished like that considering it's only a year and half old. They'll have to send it to the vendor to re-work it. Perhaps, this place can only get your battery done quick and cheap. That's it! read more

No one was there to change it out. He went to pick up his watch on Saturday (when there is a HUGE sign out front advertising "Watch Batteries .99 cents"). Guy charged my son $10.00. What a jerk!!!! I went in this summer to have my ring cleaned before a trip. I stopped in because it was a last minute decision and it happened to be the closest jeweler to where i was. I asked if they cleaned rings and he said yes, took me to a back room and proceeded to clean it. I stayed in the same room he was cleaning my ring a majority of the time so hopefully no diamond switcheroos happened because I don't think there would have been time but when he finished and gave it back to me he told me it would be $40. $40 for a ring cleaning?! He never told me a price upfront (I know, I should have asked but he didn't give me a price I figured it was complimentary or a small service fee) He said he did some special scratch remover thing yada yada yada so it was extra. NOT to happy about being charged $40 for a service I didn't even ask for. It was sticker shock for sure and I feel I was taken advantage of. read more

I was drawn in by the sign that advertises "watch batteries replaced". I got the watch battery replaced and was treated very fairly. Then I took in some jewelry for repair. Again treated fairly and the repairs were done on time. My wife wanted a Rolex watch, and Mr. Saatchi showed me some brochures and urged me to research it online. It took me three trips into the shop (he is a very patient man) and some internet research to finally make the buy. I ordered the watch from him and I received a very good price and got the watch as promised. I recommend this vendor. read more
