I'm begrudgingly adding a 2nd star, because their food is average or better. Their pizza is fine, what you'd expect from a corner store type of place. Same with the subs. I do like the way they melt the top layer of cheese onto the cheesesteaks and meatball subs. Their wings are breaded, but they didn't have a lot of meat. And in true south side fashion, whatever you order will come with piles and piles of potato wedges, which are always delicious. The quality of their food is fine. I haven't had anything that would draw me here over anywhere else, but I wouldn't turn it down. With all that said, I will never set foot into this place again. I couldn't be more easygoing, and when I'm in public I try to blend in without making an impression whenever possible. But I have never been into this place without witnessing, or being a part of an altercation. Every experience I've had in there was like being in a weird movie. On multiple occasions, the workers were incoherent and showed almost no lucidity. I'm talking intense blank stares lasting until I back away and look for somebody else. The first time I tried to order wings there, the guy took my order and told me it'd be about 10 minutes. I waited in the store, and after about 15 I walked back up to the guy who hadn't moved from his spot. He froze when I asked about my order and responded "Riiiight. Uhh, that'll be ready in 10 minutes." When he didn't move again, I asked if he was the only one here, or just what was going on. Without responding to me, he walked over to the food area and started to prepare the order. That night I ate some place else. And this is just one of several times I've actually questioned whether I should be calling an ambulance for the dude behind the counter here. It's not just the employees who straight up weird me out. An unrealistic proportion of the customers I encounter every time I'm here seem to stagger into this place absolutely manic and ready to engage whoever they run into. One evening I left my dog in the car while I went in to grab my food, and had to shoo some lady away from my car who had her hands on the window and was making barking noises back at my dog. I noticed it happening, but intervened about a minute later when I realized she just wasn't going to stop. Eventually I realized this wasn't just one-off stuff, but this is just what this place seems to be. Nothing they offer is worth going through a scene from Mad Max to get instead of just going literally any place else. This is the most uncomfortable place I've been to so far in Syracuse.

The "bacon" sheet pizza I ordered.

Because it's 5 dollar pizzas and they are open very late.. it's not the best ambiance, but the price of pizza is good

Wings were good actually. Meaty and good wing sauce. Pizza was pretty bad, and location was sketchy.

East of Chicago is an excellent addition to the Syracuse pizza scene (is there a scene?). While…read moreit's typical to get the NY-style slice around here with thin, crispy crust and mounds of cheese, East of Chicago pivots a bit into the pan-style, deeper dish pizza which is a refreshing option. We have eaten here twice and both times we walked away with happy bellies and some new favorites. For our most recent visit, we ordered a sausage topped pan-style pizza along with their garlic cheesy bread. The staff working the counter were VERY friendly and welcoming when we came to pick up - very appreciated. Inside, it's small and there isn't a place to dine in, so you'll be doing take out here. Parking is on the street out front and seems to be available each time I roll by. The order took about 25 minutes to get ready and was available as promised when I picked up. The pizza was really buttery, soft, and just what you'd want from a deeper style pizza. The garlic cheese bread may have been the star of this order though. It was nice and garlicy, buttery, and cheesy...the way that GARLIC CHEESE BREAD should be :) We will be back!

The taco pizza from east chicago is one of my favorites. I am all about a ton of toppings and am never disappointed with that. It feels particularly worth the money and you're never left missing something on a bite. Crust is crispy. Service is a little slow, we always do takeout/pickup and its nearly always off by about 15-30 minutes in timing, even when we order online we are waiting that extra time after ordering. The inside is your typical pizza shop, and the workers are nice
