Convenient and friendly pizza shop located near OCC. Pizza is pretty decent. Not the best hit certainlybit the worst I've ever had. The wings were slightly overcooked which unfortunately dried them out. However, I am sure had I ordered a flavor that had a sauce these would have been much better. All and all I would definitely order again. The large pizza and wing special was more than enough to feed a family of 5. For $45 I can't complain. Service is great. I've been coming to this place for their spicy chicken tender sub since my OCC days in 2007. I order it with bleu cheese. It's basically just four chicken tenders on a sub roll with whatever you put on it, but somehow it's completely irreplaceable. If I haven't been to Onondaga Hill in a while, I make a point to visit this place. Over the years, I've talked with a hand full of people who were already familiar with this place, and they all specifically raved about the chicken tender sub before I even brought it up. I might have eaten here 50 or more times in my life, and I honestly can't say with certainty that I ever didn't just go with the chicken tender sub. Velasko Pizzeria has some of the worst service. If you try calling to place an order you're put on hold and they never come back. If you're not place on hold when you call either it keeps ringing until the call ends or you get user busy. When you go to pick up the pizza you'll end up waiting another 15 minutes to get your pizza because all the workers are just talking to each other ignoring the customer and your food is eventually cold. Don't get me wrong, their pizza is good but because of their terrible service it's hard to recommend velasko as an option for dinner. read more

Tried two slices from here today after hearing a lot about this place. The slices were decent, not amazing though. They weren't very warm. Every other pizza place I know of usually rewarms the pizza before serving to make it hot. They had it stored in a warming container, but it wasn't hot. Also, the toppings were very lackluster. During the school year I really hate eating here because their college kid staff is just as horrendous as pita and sardos BUT the food here is always consistently good. They have the best slices (not super thin like everywhere else up here) and their mozz sticks and sandwiches are my favorite. During COVID they have had excellent customer service and have significantly improved the overall experience for customers. I would normally give 5 stars since Velasko has been my go-to pizzeria and has been for 12 years but the Buffalo Chicken Pizza hasn't been good ever since they substituted out chicken finger meat for chicken wing meat. It simply tastes like regular pizza with buffalo sauce, not a Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Uncle Mike's Pizzeria in Camillus or Nick's Tomato Pie in Armory Square will become my new "go-to" for Buff Chicken Pizza until this changes. As a paying customer, I would gladly pay 50 cents or a dollar more per slice for the difference between chicken wing meat and chicken tender meat and I know that other customers will agree. read more

Service is inconsistent but mostly bad. The owner hires young kids to run her restaurant and they have run it into the ground. The phone rings and they purposely don't pick it up. Sometimes they pick up and state that they are closed or no longer delivering, despite calling well before posted closing time. Staff is so busy socializing that they fail to properly make food and are always out of something, even slices! Food and prices are great, but I do think that they could benefit from having a few adults working there. When I went, it seemed as if the entire place was being run by teenagers. This isn't bad in and of itself, it just *really* wasn't working out at the time; orders were getting messed up, service was slow, and the line was getting larger and larger. I have been a loyal customer for many years. Service is always up and down but not horrible.....until tonite. Ordered a simple pepperoni pizza and wings. Was told 45 minute wait. Went down after 50 minutes, waited ten and was told they "hadn't started the pizza so you want the wings?" Not even a we're sorry after a hour plus wait. I had been going to Velasko Deli for years until a string of poor pizza and service issues forced me to find somewhere else to order from. However, last Sunday, I was running late and in the area so I decided to stop in for a quick slice for lunch. The two pieces of cheese pizza I ate were the best I've had in years!! They were so good, I decided to order from there for dinner as well, which was just as good, if not better than lunch. Hats off to you, pizza guy with the blue hat! Great job! This place had great pizza and subs! Easily one of the best I've had in Syracuse. However, I have never gone to a place that has had worse customer service. When I call they take more than minute to answer the phone and they always sound irritated. Also, I have to dial the number at least twice before someone answers. Though, I've never had a problem with their delivery people. They're efficient and friendly. I think they would win me over 100% if they took care of their customers a little better. read more

You know that saying, you never get a second chance to make a first impression, well that is true of this pizza shop. We had 2 pizzas delivered and were very happy with the delivery guy. Unfortunately we can not say the same about the pizza. We had 2 different pizzas with different toppings and neither had any flavor. For a house full of people who like to eat and love their pizza, we struggled to get through the first piece. The sauce was bland as was the dough. I don't know if the dough was old or cheap premade frozen dough but dough can make or break a pizza. With this pizza shop, it was a complete break. I didn't bother trying the wings. Delicious chicken wing pizza . I mean the top 3 chicken wing pizzas I've ever had . They have a "famous chicken tender sub" I tried it with hot sauce lettuce tomato and blue cheese . I was disappointed in the service and the wings. Cashier was not friendly. She asked me if I wanted my receipt. Nothing out of the ordinary, I have been asked this before. She then slid the Styrofoam box to me. I asked, if I could have a bag. She gave me one. Here is the disappointing part. I get home and there were only 9 instead of 10 wings that I paid for. They were tough like rubber. The little drumsticks were a bone with a ball of meat at the end. The appearance was so strange. I think I better try wings somewhere else. read more
