I called Saber Roofing after meeting with four (yes 4) local roofing contractors. See, we want to install solar however to do that our roof must have 7-10 years of life left (so as to not need to uninstall/reinstall the new panels). After meeting with the four roofing companies we all agreed our roof had 10-12 years left however we had two possibly leaking areas. We hired Ryan and his crew back in 2013, so this review is long overdue. Back then, we had them do a complete new roof installation. At the time, we were debating just doing part of the roof, and Ryan walked us thru the different options, pros/cons, etc. In the end, we went with the full roof and were very happy with the results (i.e. no more leaks, repaired some stucco, new tiles, etc.). In the last year or so, however, with the various weather events, debris accumulating, etc., it seemed like a leak had sprung. I emailed them late one evening and within 30 minutes, Ryan messaged me back and we went back and forth via email trying to diagnose location, source, etc. Already, I was impressed with his responsiveness and conscientiousness. If I could give Saber Roofing more than 5 stars I would. We had a new roof put on by another roofer 6 years ago. A leak in that job appeared over our garage after last years heavy rains which required a repair by Saber Roofing. Saber's attention to detail, expertise, wonderful communication skills, excellent assessment of the project, and more than a fair, honest and reasonable estimate was a breath of fresh air compared to some of the other local roofing companies in this area. I put a bandaid over the area in question and stopped the leak until Saber fixed the issue. I sent Saber photos of the area that needed repair and I got an estimate right away based on my photos and description. This an easy review to write, Ryan and Saber staff and crew were great. They communicate like college boys and work like ants. Saber did a PVC flat re-roof project that included some modification and skylight replacement. Got many bids and some contractors didn't even want to bid the job. Ryans bid was competitive and promised to get it done within 6-8 weeks, most others were 6-12 months. Done on schedule (thru some difficult times), staff and crew very professional, communicative, and easy to work with. Provided honest and informative options and crews did their jobs well and cleaned up. Hopefully they'll be doing my sloped roof replacement. If the product lives up to its reputation this will have been a great roofing project, I'll update in 30 years. However, in the meantime I had a roofing emergency at my father's house and these guys were so helpful again. Recent storms did some roof damage and I couldn't get anyone out there in a timely fashion, but Saber got the team out there in the storm to assist minimizing the damage. GM/Field Supervisor Juan Godinez came out to check the roof, flashing around the chimney, gutters and everything else roof related. Saber roofing replaced our aging asphalt composition roof late in 2021. Every aspect of this interaction was top-notch. Juan came by to gather info for the estimate, and explained every detail perfectly. Ryan (the 2nd-generation company owner) even came by once to measure a skylight we planned to replace, and just to prove what a local-guy he is, he said he remembers selling us gift-wrap in a fundraiser decades ago when he was in the local junior-high! We didn't remember him specifically, but we only just used up that gift-wrap maybe 5 years ago! Happily, it turns out that the job they did on our roof was every bit as good as that excellent gift wrap! The crew they sent out to take off the old roof had it done in less than a day--efficient, careful and amazingly clean. If I remember right, they even used a vacuum after sweeping up the debris. The main crew was just as efficient, respectful, and tidy. They showed up when they said they would, did great work and cleaned up meticulously. Maybe the best thing was the way that Ryan coordinated with our solar company (we were installing solar at the same time as the roof). He coordinated timing of both jobs flawlessly, and worked hard to get both jobs completed before the end of the year, which we were very anxious to have done because of potential impact on the financial part of the solar installation. They were not the cheapest of bids because they proposed PVC which is a more expensive material. But for a roof I hope will last 50 years I want the best not the cheapest, and Saber is the best. Although the project was delayed by the whole global pandemic thing, once construction was able to begin Ryan delivered on his estimates perfectly, even in the face of the unexpected (an old gravel roof underneath the roof).
