The guy knows how to help people, build rapport, and earn loyal customers. I hired Saber Roofing for addressing things mentioned in the home inspection report when we first bought our place in 2019. Ryan came, walked the roof with me and inspected it, told me how I could do these things myself (and encouraged me to learn how to do so), and then gave me a reasonable quote for installing a spark arrester (which he explained I didn't really need), to install some gaskets/shields to better seal vent penetrations, and to remove a satellite dish. Best experience I've ever had with a contractor in my life. Following a negative attempt to fix my problem I found Saber roofing. Ryan was in constant contact with me leading up to our appointment. He tried to diagnose as much as possible remotely. He was five minutes early to the appointment. He then fixed my problem. NO CHARGE! We have a mix of a pitched shingled roof (majority of habitable house) and a flat roof (over the garage). Our main pitched roof is doing fine, but our garage flat roof was in terrible shape -- tears, weather-worn, leaking where bad patching attempts were made. I did enough research to know I didn't want a tar/gravel or some other standard application because I don't want to deal with leaks or other issues anytime soon... and those tend to be issues with applying standard membranes over flat roofs. We also wanted to tear down to the bare boards and redo the plywood because I had no confidence in the prior work on the overlying roofing system. I knew I wanted PVC or TPO, but found TPO has questionable variable chemical make-ups with inconsistent results. That narrowed it to PVC. There's only a few well rated Bay Area PVC roofers that are licensed with IB (the PVC membrane manufacturer that extends a long warranty), so I did my research on those companies. Saber stood out given the volume of work and satisfaction of customers. Our experience was consistent with this. Jake handled all my (many) initial questions, and Ryan was my point of contact during the project. His crew did the 500sq.ft. roof in just three days. They got the permit pulled and passed inspection the next business day after completion. Each day Ryan kept me updated on the project, and he and his crew talked through specific points I asked about (e.g. whether there was any wood rot -- thankfully there wasn't, reattaching a coax line, aesthetics of the cap flashing/color, drainage, caulking, etc ). His crew was immaculate in covering the garage, vacuuming, and cleaning up -- I've had poorly managed GC work done before that made (permanent) messes to our house, and so I'm speaking from experience when I say "it's like they were never here" is a complement of honor. The roof looks fantastic, and I'm actually looking forward to the rainy season to no longer have our cars dripped on inside our garage. We had to wait three months for the window units to arrive (not Saber's fault), and they were good at keeping in touch on the delivery date. When the units had arrived, we were able to agree an installation date at the start of the following week. The whole job took two days: first day, ripping out the old windows and installing the new ones; second day, finishing the flashing, roof patching etc. The crew made sure the room below was fully covered to catch the dust and cleaned up afterwards. I contacted Saber Roofing the summer of 2023 about replacing our 46 year old tile roof with fiberglass shingles. Ryan Saber said the roof should be good for several more years, but as I wanted to add solar, I decided to proceed with the new roof. Between weather and the popularity of their business, it was March, 2024 when the new roof installed. The project manager, Juan, kept me well-informed of progress and issues that were found that caused extra work and materials. The crew even worked on a Saturday to keep the project on track and coordinated with the solar company on their installation. They cleaned up around our home every day, and very thoroughly when done. The pricing was appropriate for the project size, and all extra charges for fixing issues were well explained. The new roof looks great! Saber did an outstanding job sealing our solar racking standoffs and performing some repairs on our foam roof that has a modified bitumen cap sheet. We wanted the best possible sealing and they installed metal flashings with multiple layers of tar + cap sheets using a torch-down process. Before adding the upper layers of sealing the flashings were secured with large screws going into the wood of the roof (rather than nails). Then they added an extra layer of white elastomeric sealer + mesh on top of the tar seams to protect the tar from the sun. I really appreciate all the extra steps they took. The communication and flexibility from Ryan was excellent. Juan did the initial site visit and leveraged decades of roofing experience to give us the available options. There was some risk for us leaving the roof exposed between the installation of the solar mounts and the sealing so Ryan pulled in the schedule and completed the work much earlier than we had expected. The guys that did the roof work were very helpful and considerate. And they worked a long hard day to get everything done. They left everything cleaner than when they arrived. Saber was the perfect vendor for this job. We will definitely hire them again the next time we need any roofing work. read more

Had a great experience working with Saber so far. During a storm a huge branch fell from a tree and punctured 5 small holes on a flat roof. Also damaged where the roof connected to the fascia. They came out to give me a quote and gave me some temporary sealant for free to fill the holes. Gave me a 6-8 week time estimate and met that. They fixed it before the rain arrived! As with other reviewers, my primary contact was Ryan Saber, and he is every bit as communicative and responsive as others have said. It was great to have a daily update on progress and a forecast of the next day's work. I also interacted with Juan, who supervised the actual work. Juan was very knowledgeable and professional and something like a MacGyver when solving some problems that plagued us with the old roof. He clearly has dealt with every roofing problem we had and more. They delivered all the fixes he promised they would, and now I am actually looking forward to a heavy rain to confirm they work, as I am certain they will. The crew varied in size based on the work that needed to be done that day. They worked well together and made sure the job site was clean and clear of debris at the end of every day. In all, it took one day for demolition and five days to install the new roof, taking only a Sunday off, completing the job within the time Ryan had estimated. If I had a complaint, it would be that it took Saber Roofing 4 months to get to our job instead of the 2-3 months initially estimated, but all I really cared about was getting the roof done before our kids come home for Christmas, and Ryan made sure that happened when I told him that was my goal. We are luck to have Saber Roofing to replace our gutters for our two-story house recently. The whole process was silk smooth. I initiated a quote through Yelp and got response from Ryan within a few hours. Their onsite estimate was booked for a few weeks so Ryan offered an e-estimate. I basically took a few pictures of the existing gutters and did some rough measurements. Jake from Saber Roofing promptly emailed me a thorough project proposal with a reasonable quote. We decided to retain their services and signed the contract. Great experience so far. We had some siding work going on before replacing the gutters. We learned that the downspouts are actually in good condition. So I emailed Jake if it's ok to reuse the downspouts. No problem at all! Jake revised the contract and reduced the cost to 2/3 of the original proposal. I planed to change the gutter guard to a different kind but kept reusing the existing one. Jake was very accommodating for an inexperienced homeowner's back-and-forth ideas. During the installation day three crews worked hard on taking down the old/debris-filled gutters and putting brand new gutters. Our house has irregular roofs. They spent quite some time crafting the gutters to make them seamless. Yes, they are artists for gutters! They installed an additional downspout for easier water flow at a nominal cost. They generously installed the gutter guard for free!!! I think that's a few hundred $$$ value. They also cleaned up the roof and the yard! Before I didn't want to look up our roof.
