We heard about this new seafood-centric Mexican restaurant in Avon and thought we would give it a shot for lunch. Small place 10-12 tables. Food is wonderful with plenty of spice. The lunch menu is traditional Mexican fare (tostadas, buritos, etc.) and reasonably priced. We opted for the huge dinner menu. My wife got the marinated tuna/watermelon tostada on the waitresses recommendation. It was wonderful and refreshing. I got the aquachile verde (sort of ceviche/cucumber/onion in a cilantro chile broth) it was pretty spicy but again wonderful. My wife also ordered two sopas (way to much food) which were great and $3 a piece. She could have easily did two sopas and a drink for an $8 lunch. read more

Came in on a Sunday afternoon, they were busy and probably overwhelmed so I'll give them that. But we sat down and the waitress told us they're out of red salsa but she has some spicy green salsa and leaves us with that and some chips. Then for 10 mins, we were completely ignored. She never came back to ask for a drink order or if we were ready to eat. Another couple came in after us, sat down right next to us, and was served immediately. The family on the other side of us kept ordering drinks, extra sour cream, whatever and they were served immediately as well. It's like we were invisible. The waitress never acknowledged us again, even when we stood up and put our coats on to leave. Can't comment on the food but the service was terrible and we felt like we weren't welcomed there. read more

Dinner was good but menu only in Spanish so a little difficult but we managed. Surprised that draft beer cost more than bottled. Plenty to eat. But chips and salsa (esp salsa) was limited unless you paid extra. Was really a pico de gallo with tuna? Probably will try another Mexican restaurant in future. read more

Had a great dinner. Our first visit to Sabor M. Service was great. We started off with two huge margaritas and shared an order of guacamole. All excellent. We are vegetarians so I ordered the tilapia burrito and my husband ordered the vegetarian enchiladas. Both were delicious. Portions were generous and the food was fresh and beautifully prepared. This place is excellent. I'm from Arizona, so I've had my share of good Mexican food. The food was amazing... from the chips and hot sauce to the mochajete that I had . Tasted delicious with just the right amount of heat. Our server was super friendly . I certainly recommend, enjoy! read more

First time here and we absolutely love it! Authentic Mexican, house margarita is huge and food was delicious. We travel Mexico frequently and this reminded us of some of the best places we love in Sayulita. We had the shrimp ceviche and seafood rellano. We will be back! We grabbed an early dinner here on a Sunday evening, ordered the chicken and the shrimp fajitas. It's pricey compared to Mexican restaurants where we live (in the Bay Area), BUT the portions are big and the prices do seem on par with most of the other restaurants in the area. Yummy! This place is amazing. Went with my boyfriend and we love Mexican cuisine. And this place was stellar. A little pricey for sure, but it's all seafood so its definitely understandable. Plus the portion of the food you get is outrageous. We had to get a box right away cause we knew we could finish. Plus they bring out queso and salsa when you get there and that's a rare thing to come by in this valley usually for queso you have to pay an extra 5 plus dollars, but not this spot so that's a major plus for me. Our family of 5 loved the fresh and authentic food at Sabor Mazatlan. Although the kids menu is fairly limited, they were open to making whatever our kids wanted. The sopes were awesome; the shrimp ceviche tostada was super fresh and delicious, even the salsa and guacamole tasted like they made it to order. The margaritas that we had were also fantastic with the homemade sour mix. We will definitely return. And our menus were in English in case that is an issue for you. read more

As a So. California girl who loves most Mexican food, I'm always on the hunt for good tacos in the Vail Valley! There's some yummy places... some average places... but my current "go-to" is Sabor Mazatlan! Clean, bright & friendly... The food is fresh ... great margaritas (Kelly's is my fav!) chips and salsa are always crisp, spicy & Smokey! Their house made green salsa that's served with the tacos is addicting! My "usual" order is the carnitas & asada tacos... the flavor is deeeelish... and the portions of meat generous! Today I had the La Diabla chicken ... served with light & fluffy rice, house made retried beans & tortillas... the spice in the sauce was no joke... but right where I like it!(not for everyone though) they'll always modify your order to your preferences. Pricing is average, especially for this valley... but it's nice to have $1 taco Tuesday!! I wish they had a happy hour or Apres Ski deal for locals! read more

I read all of the great reviews and thought I would give it a shot. Having traveled Mexico extensively, I was not impressed. Our waitress was a mess. We ordered two "aguas frescas." Mine came very watered down. When I asked the waitress to change it to the flavor my wife was drinking, she took it away and never came back. Literally never came back. Instead we saw her chatting away with what appeared to be friends at the bar. We had to ask the other waitress to assist us. She did. She brought me a drink, brought our food, and served us more chips. When I asked is she was our waitress, she said "no." And, she pointed to the waitress having a great time at the bar. When we were finished, I went to pay at the register. Our "waitress" actually came to ring us up and asked if all was ok. I told her the truth. She was shameless. The place gets an extra star because there was at least one waitress that actually paid a little attention. Good luck if you go there. Hopefully you luck out and get the one that pays attention to customers. And, if you want better Mexican food, go to the taqueria right around the corner (No Se Hagan Bolas). I was starving a saw this place on the way back to my condo, do I stopped in. I waited to be seated but no one came to seat myself and my daughter. So we sat ourself. Then we waited 20 minutes and everyone that work there just ignored us. Never even gave us menus or waters. Definitely the worst service I've had in years! And I eat out almost everyday. I'm a business owner so its takes a lot to make me write a bad review. I would much rather write a positive review. read more

Tried this place on our last visit to Avon on the advice the concierge at the Westin Villas, and we weren't disappointed. Great margaritas. I had the fajitas. They were wonderful and a large portion. Locals, first time in, we'll be regulars. The food was DELICIOUS! Our group had the whole cooked snapper, asada street tacos, chicken enchilada, shrimp ceviche, and carnita sopes. The flavors were amazing, everything was cooked perfectly and the authenticity....menus in Spanish, decor, and food presentation all added to the dining experience. Couple notes: the salsa is pretty spicy (loved it!), the guacamole didn't appear to be homemade (kind of surprising considering how fresh everything else was), the menu has a great price range ($3 tacos-$25 entrees). read more

This is probably the best Mexican in the valley and here's what makes it better it is affordable, friendly. When I went here for the first time I was greeted with very happy waiters and waitresses. I sat down to clean tables and a great atmosphere. When you sit down your waiter or waitress will go to your table and introduce themselves and ask you want you want to start out with. I always say the chips and salsa. It is home made salsa and is the best ever. Now I usually get the enchiladas why? Because they are the bomb. But also the tacos are good. Finally the dessert is good not the best though the churros are probably the best rather then the coffee and other goodies. Also at the end they don't rush you out, they let you take your time and then you are left leaving with a smile on your face. Diners beware! Recently four of us came to Sabor Mazatlán, a place we've been to several times that we will never visit again. If you want to be treated terribly come here. The staff was rude, dishonest and took a sopapilla order misunderstanding to such an extreme that they not only refused to acknowledge the mistake, they shared the situation with other patrons at the restaurant who proceeded to flip us off as we left. It was craziness, especially over something so small. We've never been so uncomfortable, disappointed and actually threatened at a service establishment in our lives like this. The waiter misheard our order bringing us 4 orders of sopapillas instead of one. Upon sharing that we only ordered one order, he assertively argued with us that we said 4 and we had to take them. We told him to take the extras back that we didn't want them. Then he proceeded to ignore us even as we tried to get his attention so we could pay our bill. 20 minutes later he finally brought us a bill with attitude and charged us for 4 orders. When we asked to speak to the manager he said we couldn't speak to the manager because it was our fault for ordering 4. He then said "OK, I can't take these off, but I'll have to pay for them," which we didn't feel was right either. The manager finally came over and agreed to take them off the bill, so we waited again. They did nothing other than exhibit very passive aggressive behavior by talking to other patrons at the bar and cash register where we could see them. Then the most unfortunate incident happened as we left when a patron at the bar stared one of us (a woman) down, held out his arm with a big bird and held his defiant gaze staring her down with the finger. Needless to say we will never dine here again. An order mistake should have been a very easy issue to rectify. The waiter made other mistakes with our order, but this was so blatant and the handling of it was so poor, especially the sharing of it with other patrons that we felt reverse discrimination. I hope they get their act together soon as they own many restaurants in the valley and we've never been treated at the other restaurants like we were here. read more

This is a new place so working out the kinks. They try real hard but this time they just kept getting it wrong. I ordered enchiladas and my husband got a burrito which he loved. First the waitress took the order w/o writing it down. Then she brought mine with mole sauce instead of red sauce. She was very apologetic and quick to replace but the sauce was sooooo salty it was inedible! I wasn't sure if it was just my taste so I asked my husband to try it. It was like they spilled salt in it. I think bullion based with red chili. It was a huge turn off. No offer to comp even though it was obvious I didn't eat it. I told her to have chef taste his pot of sauce as it was not edible. She didn't even say sorry. read more
