It's a bigger portion than the dish I had more than a year ago. Also, this doesn't have wonton strips and peas. You order at front, and food and drinks get sent to your table. There's also a 3% surcharge to your subtotal for using a card. They cook your food to order here, and I could smell the fried rice getting prepared on the stove. The fried rice is strong in flavor but not too salty. It's similar to what you might get from a teppanyaki restaurant. The chicken was also good, but I felt that the rice had much more flavor. Saturday was a beautiful and warm day and I wanted to eat outside. It was the perfect chance to try Sabor. It is a casual Peruvian restaurant, but I appreciate the food was plated with glass plates and real silverware. You order at the register. There are a couple tables inside, but the best seating is on the covered patio. My husband ordered the lomo saltado with steak and shrimp, prepared with fries and rice. I usually order mine the same way at most places, but this time I had mine with pasta. Oh my gosh it was so good! The noodles were packed with buttery/ garlic flavor. Any way you look at it Pollo a la Brasa is the perfect entree--scrumptious rotisserie chicken perfectly seasoned, a plateful of fries, and one of the most exquisite sauces known to man in the aji verde. Sabor perpetuates this reputation by having a nigh-perfect example of how to make this dish sing. I loved every bite of this, even at $21 for the half-chicken version of it. The service was okay--quick to answer questions and getting our food out to us in a relatively timely manner. What was nice too is Sabor didn't go the route of charging for each aji verde sauce, which I liked. When you're used to going through half-a-bottle with every polla a la brasa meal, it's very important that that wonderful concoction is ready to go when you're ready for another bite of chicken, fries, or sometimes by itself. The space is kind of limited and I really wish it had more diners coming through. But as it was it had an okay vibe to it, like you're eating at your local spot that the tourists and gawkers haven't caught up with. I think it's a prime candidate for just bringing a book to allow time for your food to digest after. I have been twice so I can say that the food has been consistently delicious. I love the ceviche de pescado, lomo saltado, platanos, the green sauce they provide, and the passion fruit juice . I tried the passion fruit cheesecake and it was tasty however I can tell it was in the freezer for a while or perhaps the cheesecake hadn't fully cooled prior to putting it in the freezer. Anyway if it didn't have the frostbite element it would have been tasty. That's the only reason my rating is a 4 and not a 5. Another thing that was disappointing was In my ceviche they only gave me two very small slices of sweet potato lol I thought that was silly. The place gives more of a whole in the wall vibe. You order your food at the counter and they bring you your order of dining in. Not too many seats inside but they do have a few more tables outside in the front patio. Wow, absolutely amazing Peruvian food. I am always on the look out for good Peruvian dishes and most of the time, am a bit disappointed. This place definitely changed my losing streak. I ordered 3 dishes togo; fish ceviche (Ceviche de Pescado), chicken soup (Aguadito de Pollo), and filet mignon (Lomo Saltado). The ceviche, I ordered it spicy. It was not over the top spicy, just the right amount of kick. The fish was fresh, the red onion on top crisp, and of course the crunchy hominy with a smooth piece of sweet potato gives you all the textures in one beautiful dish. Very citrusy and bright just a perfect example of what Peruvian ceviche is supposed to be. The lomo saltado, was seasoned expertly. Not overly salty, not greasy. High quality cuts of meat cooked to perfection over the crispy, but softened with the sauce french fries. Served over white rice. My only complaint was the way it was packaged did not travel well. The sauce spilled all over the napkins and brochure in the bag. Easily remedied by just wrapping that item singularly in a bag by itself. Just something to note if you're ordering that to go. Normally, that type of thing would've really annoyed me, but the food was so good. It immediately erased my annoyance with that situation. The soup was very hot. It allowed me to enjoy the other dishes first as it cooled. It was comforting, flavorful and packed with veggies, rice and chicken. Has a citrus undertone to it, and was a healthy end to an amazing meal. I added my own cilantro and green onion to it which elevated it to absolute deliciousness. The green sauce served with the food was so good. I could literally drink that stuff. It was delicious on top of everything. Not that the food needed anything else, as it is great all on its own. The food is great. Its a small peruvian place. (I've been to another peruvian resto and its too salty for my taste.) They have small selection, but sometimes its best that way for small store. We arrived about 1:30pm on a Sunday, and the place was busy- but not full. We ordered Saltado De Vegetales (Veggies), Anticuchos de Pollo, and sweet potato fries. The prices are fair and the portions are good. The vegetable stir-fry was very tasty with enough for 2-3 meals. The chicken skewers came with potato and corn and an insanely delicious dipping sauce. We ordered online. It took about 20 mins for it to be done. We came a bit too early to pick it up. And the server was very friendly, enough to let us try the ice cream that they have. All of the ice cream we tried was really good and I would get some when we actually dine in. The restaurant is small inside. Probably only 2 parties can sit inside. But I believe they have seating outside, as well. The food was worth the wait. It was delicious, every single bite we had. The meat wasn't too dry or too hard. The rice was perfect. In honor of Latinx Heritage Month, decided to try this Peruvian spot while in was in the area. Wow - pleasantly surprised by this gem of a restaurant. I walked in and knew I wanted to try a noodle dish from Yelp pics but did not know which one to go with. The man at the register recommended a few options and I decided to go with the Fettuccini a la Huancaina with Lomo Saltado (+$8 for the protein). This dish is amazing in every way - the fettuccine noodles were soft and coated with the most delicious sauce and the Lomo Saltado was tender and flavorful. I have had Lomo Saltado before but Sabor makes it the best! Service was amazing and the staff are so nice! The restaurant itself was small but had both indoor and outdoor seating.
