Ceviche 19 is one of the best Peruvian restaurants in Anaheim! The flavors are exceptional, and they have a great variety of dishes. I've tried many items on the menu, and everything has been delicious. The service is always pleasant, friendly, and attentive. The atmosphere is calm and clean, with beautiful touches of Peruvian culture throughout. It's a smaller spot, but they accommodate guests very well. It is a bit pricey, but definitely worth splurging once in a while for great food. We'll continue coming back! read more

A fellow Peruvian I met at the hotel we were staying in Irvine recommended this place. It's a small restaurant in a strip mall but the food, service and cleanliness, make a huge impact! We went with my son, his wife and kids. My grandson is highly allergic to dairy and other foods. When ordering, my son emphasized the level of allergic reaction he could get with minimal contact. Eli, the apparent owner, kept us informed with great detail on the care they took in ensuring, no trace of dairy was in the dish for my grandson. An example, instead of French fries that are part of the Lomo Saltado, they took the initiative to substitute them with steamed fries! They took every precaution possible. The pictures of the food included in this post should speak more than a thousand words. Not only was the presentation fabulous, the taste was authentic and delicious. Since we had never tried Peruvian food before, we decided to give this place a try -- and we're so glad we did! As soon as we walked in, we noticed the ocean-inspired décor -- seashore elements, fish, seashells, and fishing nets on the walls. It gave the restaurant an exotic charm and made the cozy space feel warm and inviting. We ordered the signature Ceviche 19, Pulpo a la Parrilla, Arroz con Mariscos, and Tamal -- definitely more than enough food for the two of us, but we wanted to try a variety of dishes. The food arrived surprisingly quickly. The moment we saw the generous portions and smelled the aromas, I had a feeling we had found a hidden gem. Every dish tasted delicious, and some flavors even reminded me of food we enjoyed in Spain. It's honestly hard to pick a favorite because everything was so good. The ceviche came with such generous portions of fish -- it felt like fillets from an entire fish! The Pulpo a la Parrilla was unique and beautifully prepared, with a variety of vegetables including tomatoes, potatoes, green onions, and huge Peruvian corn. Ordered the Ceviche Clasico and it was amazing! Tangy, salty and full of flavor! Different textures with every bite. Theres sweet potato in it and it surprisingly elevated the dish. Ordered it with medium spice and its perfect and a manageable spice level. Ordered tallarin de Cameron with huancaina. Never had it before and it was good! Its a creamy, kinda nutty, spicy sauce. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and had a charbroiled taste. Lastly got the chaufa de mariscos; similar to an Asian fried rice. The dish is is drizzled with a sweet sauce. Its a little sweeter than I'm used to but still good. Plenty of seafood like shrimp, calamari and mussels; all cooked to perfection. Plenty of seating, well lit and cute decor. Good food, but the service needs improvement. We came to Ceviche 19 as a group of 6, so I completely understand that larger groups can take a little longer to accommodate. That being said, the wait time for our food was much longer than expected. We were waiting quite a while before our order finally came out, and the overall service did not feel as attentive or efficient as I would expect. Once the food arrived, it was actually good and we enjoyed what we ordered. The issue was more with the overall dining experience and the amount of time we had to wait. I also understand that gratuity may be required for a larger party, but when a mandatory tip is included, I expect the level of service to reflect that. A tip should come with excellent and attentive service, not simply be expected regardless of the experience. I'm not opposed to coming back because the food was good, but I would hope the restaurant can improve the service and communication with larger groups. For our appetizer, we got the Piqueo Fragata, a sampler of three different dishes--fish ceviche, arroz con mariscos, and chicharron de pescado. Perfect for me, since I like to try a little bit of everything. I really enjoyed the ceviche! It taste fresh, and the leche de tigre sauce it was in made it tart and refreshing. The Arroz con Mariscos was good too, it had shrimp and squid mixed in. The Chicharron de Pescado was a fried fish served with one piece of yucca. It wasn't that flavorful...I thought this one was just ok out of the three. We also got the Tallarin Verde for our entree. The pasta has a traditional Peruvian pesto, which is a striking green color! This also comes with a pretty large grilled chicken cutlet that appears to be pounded until thin. Not my favorite Peruvian restaurant but I only come here because my uncle likes the ceviche here. Which it is good to. Well the one that he got this day. He said the other ones weren't as good as this one. What I didn't like.... That they brought out my uncle's ceviche first and we waiting awhile for my plate. That's my uncle's pet peeve. Not getting our food at the same time. I understand cold food comes out first. But they didn't have to bring it at once. They should've brought it all out together. The tallarín a la huancaina was spicy. No where on the menu did say it was spicy. I wouldn't have gotten it if it was. The server never came to ask if everything was OK after we got our dishes. He didn't ask if you needed anything. I had to ask him for a spoon. I had to ask him for the water. Overall service and food can be better. It's nothing to hype, it's not a place I will take people to eat from out of town. The chicha morada was soooo good that I loved. I wanted anticuchos and they didn't have any of the cows heart that day. What I did HATE was that they had a dog in the restaurant. Come for the ceviche! It's excellent and a true 5 star experience. This ceviche is prepared Peruvian style, which is my all time favorite prep. The serving was very generous. The fish was very fresh and delicate, marinated in that amazing lime sauce with secret spices, and served with all the authentic side tidbits that make Peruvian so unique: hominy, sweet potato, pickled onions, cilantro, and my personal favorite, the Conchita (Peruvian popcorn). It's a very special dish beautifully prepared! Get it. But of course, the menu has much more than just that. So besides the ceviche, we convinced ourselves to give a few other dishes a try. Mixed results. I was surprised to find Grilled Octopus on the menu. What a temptation, but turns out, I could have taken it or left it. It arrived, sizzling, on a hot plate with lovely grilled, glazed vegetables. A beautiful presentation and I loved the caramelized veggies. But unfortunately, the octopus was not tender, rather chewy and under seasoned. I have had better. I would give this a Pass. The Lomo Saltado was not one of our favorites either, but not without appreciating the excellent quality of the meat. Very tender, cooked perfectly. Unfortunately, it was the French fried potatoes. They were not crispy and missing the amazing flavor we have been accustomed to, of a good frying oil. They were just soggy, and the saltado gravy was lacking something that is usually rich and complex. But there is one more dish I had decided to try, based on several other reviews, that turned out to be delicious. The fried fish. These were small nuggets of wonderfully tender, moist fish, lightly breaded then quickly fried in a good oil. The final touch was the pickled onions on top. Delicious, very memorable, and one I will definitely return for. It really doesn't need the creamy tartar sauce, but a small cup of it comes with the dish. This was actually a fun, unique adventure. Historically, Peruvian cuisine has been heavily influenced by the Chinese and Spanish in many forms, so makes for a interesting meal regardless of what you choose. I would return. read more

I came here for a friend's birthday and liked the clean, tropical decor- the space itself was inviting. Our server was friendly, but the staff seemed short-handed; we were only checked on once throughout the meal. I ordered the Lomo Fusion. Sadly, the soy sauce was overwhelmingly salty- and I actually have a higher tolerance for salty food but this was beyond that. It completely overpowered the dish. The beef was another disappointment. We asked for medium rare, but what arrived was closer to medium, a bit tough, and clearly a cheaper cut. For $25 before tax, I expected better quality. If you've had the same dish at VOX Kitchen, you know what a difference using filet mignon can make- same price, far better flavor and tenderness. The aji verde sauce was also a letdown: dull in color and lacking the fresh, herbaceous zesty kick that usually balances a heavy dish like this. Overall, between the overly salty sauce, subpar beef, and bland condiments, the value just isn't there. The friendly service saved this from a one-star review, but I won't be returning. read more

The main reason this place got a 3 star is the wait time. We waited about 45 minites to be sat. There was only 1 server for the entire restaurant and it was busy. He was hustling but throughout the time, he never came by to refill glasses or ask how anything was. He only had time to take our orders and drop off food. Based on the food, I think it's a 4 star. I have to start by saying that the owner of this place should be very grateful to the staff working under these conditions; the heat here is inhumane. You can see the workers melting with sweat as they try to give their best. If you plan to go there, you need to know that the heat will hit you hard; there is no air conditioning, and it is simply unbearable--you'll feel like you're eating in the blazing sun or in hell itself. We went to this place to enjoy the good food--as it had been recommended by friends--but we couldn't stay for more than 10 minutes. The service was good; a waiter kindly came over after we were seated and brought us ice water, which we really appreciated because the heat inside was unbearable. We were looking at the menu to decide what to order, but we started sweating--and sweating more and more. We could hear people at nearby tables complaining to the waiters about the heat. So, we decided to place our order to go and wait outside while the food was being prepared. The food is good and the service from the waitstaff is excellent, but you simply can't enjoy any of that when the place is in such terrible condition. In fact, I don't think they should be open to the public if they can't provide a suitable and safe environment for customers; we weren't the only ones who got up and left because of the unbearable heat. We noticed other people who, upon seeing how hot it was inside, chose to go home rather than even put their names on the waiting list. I also saw a pregnant woman at another table start to feel unwell--to the point where they had to leave as well. I'm serious: the heat inside is worse than it is outside--the "feels-like" temperature can exceed 100 degrees--so that's something to consider if you plan on visiting. read more

We came here ready to spend money and enjoy a great meal- we're big foodies and were excited to try this place. I'm Peruvian myself, and I had hyped this place up to my friend about how good it was going to be. I was especially excited for my friend to try this for the first time. I had actually been here just a few days earlier for my first time, and the food and experience were completely different in a good way- which made this visit even more disappointing. We were there yesterday, Wednesday, January 21st, 2026. When we arrived, there was only one other couple dining. Right away, the waiter showed he didn't even know the menu. I ordered ocopa, and he told me twice that they didn't serve that there. I had to tell him he was wrong because I had literally just had it there a few days prior. At 7:23 PM, that same waiter came over and said "last call." I assumed he meant for drinks, but he said it was last call for food. I asked what time they close, and he said 8:00 PM. His explanation was, "the cooks gotta clean." We were surprised, but we ordered more food anyway. However, knowing we only had a little over 30 minutes left, we didn't order as much as we originally planned because we felt rushed. Around the same time, a woman walked in excited and said she had driven all the way from Los Angeles and wanted to order food to go. The waiter told her the kitchen was closing and said they needed to clean up. His tone came off rude and dismissive. At 7:50 PM, the waiter came to our table and asked if he could clear it while we were still eating. I said no. He said, "we gotta close." I reminded him they said they close at 8:00 PM. He replied yes- so I told him that meant I still had 10 more minutes to enjoy my food. We got up and left at 8:00 PM on the dot. I said bye to the staff and got absolutely no response. To make it worse, the food itself was not good this time. The anticuchos had no flavor, tasted like they had no salt, and were cold -- completely different from how they were just days earlier. This ended up being a bad experience all around. As a Peruvian, this was embarrassing because I had hyped this place up to my friend and was excited for them to try it for the first time, and it completely missed the mark. I will never come here again. I'll be going back to the neighboring Peruvian restaurant in Buena Park that I've been going to for years instead. They've officially lost a good customer who spends money every single week. If your real closing time is 7:30 PM, then just say that. That gives your staff plenty of time to clean up and lets customers actually enjoy their food without being rushed or kicked out. Really disappointing experience. read more

I know excellent ceviche when I taste it and so does my Peruvian wife. And I can say with complete certainty that CEVICHE 19 has the best ceviche outside of Peru. My my wife and I went to ceviche 19 last night for dinner. Although most restaurant reviews are always based on the food solely, this review is based on service we received. When we arrived at the restaurant about an hour before they closed, I noticed that there was a large party of 10 at one table, and three other tables with parties of four or more. My first thought was this is gonna take forever for us to be served because there was only one server. The server's name was Victor, and to my surprise, Victor did an excellent job multitasking taking care of over 25 customers by himself at multiple tables. He was courteous, punctual, checked in on us from time to time and is truly a class act. I don't know if he's part owner of the restaurant, but he sure acted like he was, made us feel really comfortable even making small talking in between visits.
