Arrived on a Friday evening. It was located in a strip center, so parking was complimentary and plentiful. The eatery reminded me more of a fast-food restaurant. Place your order at the counter and take a seat in the small dining room. We were hungry, so we ordered two entrees. Lomo saltado and the Jalea Marsico's. The seafood arrived first and consisted of fish, shrimp, squid, octopus, and yucca. This reminded me more of an appetizer, although it was large enough for probably three people to share. The lomo saltado arrived shortly after, but the beef was tough, lacked flavor, and was disappointing. I was surprised since most of the reviews spoke highly of this. Service was average, and female at the counter was not welcoming and friendly - maybe she was having an off day? The food is delicious. We get the Lomo Saltado every time we go. The flavor is great. The beef is great. The flavor from the beef, onion, tomato, and whatever seasoning they put on, is a magnificent mixture that gets soaked up into the rice. Mmmmmmmm. The green sauce that they serve with it is usually this decently spicy and is a must to combo your beef/rice/fry mixture. Even though I don't like onion nor tomato, I've ordered the Lomo Saltado without them and the flavor was NOT the same. So I continue to pick it all out and enjoy my plate. Everyone that has served me has been very pleasant. I've NEVER had a bad experience with anyone here. The atmosphere is usually pretty quiet. The tables are clean. It's also usually not busy, which is why I'm reviewing Inka. Didn't know there was an inka express on east side. We really like the inka locations in South Bay. Place is quite small but the menu was extensive enough. Again we ordered / paid on yelp for picking up. We had seafood in spicy tomato soup, ceviche mixto and beef fried rice. The portions were very impressive and the prices were fair. Seafood was fairly fresh and the soup broth was very flavorful. Hubby liked his fried rice so much too. The ceviche mixto was just like what we had at the PV location. The restaurant is located off Whittier Boulevard in the near Northgate Gonzalez, but clear across the other side, closer to the Hacienda Boulevard. I actually thought this was affiliated with POLLO Inka, but they are their own place. Good Peruvian food, but I must admit, Pollo Inka was a bit more flavorful, as they also add cilantro and other ingredients to five their Tallerin Saltado a little extra umph. Portions were good, cost me about $14 and change. Plenty of food to share if you're not starving. I had some for dinner and leftover for lunch the next day. First time went here we noticed they had several tvs with different programs. 2 tvs had sports so when we went in the other night, we were thinking we were going to enjoy our meal & watch the Lakers game. We went up to the register & stood there waiting to be spoken to but this boy was clearly annoyed of being there. I finally said, "we're ready" & he said ok. I gave our order & we paid. Before heading to our table I asked if he could put the Lakers game on but he said "to be honest, I'm not sure I can do that because it's not cable, it streams through internet but I'll try." I turned to my hubby & asked if he wanted to take dinner to go or stay? My hubby said we'll dine in it's ok. I then tell the worker, well can you plz try & if it doesn't work it's fine. He then tells me "there's a pub next door if u want to go there". I told him I'm aware of the pub but we want to eat here. He then PROCEEDS to tell me "people don't come here to watch tv" & I responded to him by asking, why they have 5 tvs if it's not for the customers or is it for employees to sit around & watch? He then tells me "I don't even work here, this is my fathers business & I'm just helping him out. I asked him to stop arguing with me & leave it alone. All he had to say was he would try to change the channel & leave it at that but to tell us to basically leave by offering the pub next door & then making a rude comment that people don't go to watch tv was not needed. The fact he's supposedly the owners son is SAD. His dad must be embarassed to have a kid that isn't interested in treating the business with COMMON COURTESY. The service is friendly, and helpful for those like me who have questions about the menu. The dining area is spacious and clean. They serve the food in glassware and provide non-reusable utensils. The food is tasty and flavorful. The lomo saltado was well seasoned but sometimes the tomatoes and the onions are over cooked. Tallarines are amazing. Super bummed out that they don't have a dairy free option for the Aji verde sauce ! Very disappointed. I ordered several items through Grubhub and one of them was a fish dish with french fries and rice. When I had the items at my door, it was missing the french fries and rice. When I called the restaurant, they said that that wasn't on the menu that Grubhub made a mistake, but they did not make a mistake because if you go to the actual website which I pointed out to Emily one of the workers there it does say that the fish Dish comes with french fries and rice. All I got was half a container of some fish stew and I was charged almost $20. Great thing by crediting me for the missing items in my dish and I appreciated that. But I believe the restaurant should've taken responsibility for their menu and for the items that were missing. Needs to be updated. I hope they updated so people are not misled. read more

After having a bad experience the first time around, this place really turned it around. The manager, Paulina, reached out and convinced me to give this place a second chance and I am so glad I did! The food was beyond excellent! The Jalea de mariscos was an absolute fried seafood feast, fried to the perfect level of golden and totally delicious! We were planning to only eat half and save the rest but we ended up eating the whole thing! The cameron con ajo was also awesome! Lightly breaded fried shrimp paired with sliced garlic sautéed in butter, yum!! The ceviche mixto, again very delicious! The citrus and onion mixed with the different types of seafood was great! The tallarin de mariscos (pasta with seafood) was also very yummy! Think of it as sort of a seafood chow mein with Peruvian seasonings and flavors. I really like their Jalea de Mariscos (mixed fried seafood)! It was made fresh, golden brown and the portion was very generous! It also came with fried potatoes, which was a nice touch since they were slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The lemony sauce that comes with it was amazing, especially that I love lemon on my seafood. I tried their mixed ceviche and their garlic shrimp (Camaron al Ajo) as well and they were both really good! I'd also like to mention that they have great customer service! :) So yes, I do recommend this place, especially the Jalea de Mariscos and the Camaron al Ajo. read more

Got takeout from here one evening. It was the end of the night, but they were super friendly and were happy to help make dinner possible. Options can be limited with curfew, but this was a pretty solid meal. Lomo saltado, pollo saltado, and tallarin saltado are all pretty good options. I wish they had more sauce so the rice can sop it up. The aji sauce here is really good...packs a fun punch. Service was very good. They were busy with last minute orders, but efficient. 01/07/2022 Dear Mr. Andres, My name is Andrew S., and I was at your restaurant Inka Express in La Habra Heights this evening of January 7, 2022 at around 5:40pm. It is about the fifth time my family and I have gone to eat there. The food is generally very good, and it is one of my dad's favorite places to eat. We are in that area often; and, when we are, he insists on eating there. Unfortunately, we experienced a big problem tonight. I ordered a Pescado Sudado ($15.95), Papa a la Huancaína ($7.95), Yucca a La Huancaína ($8.95), two maracuyas ($7.00), and one horchata ($3.50). The subtotal for this transaction is $43.35. After 8.25% tax, the total came to $46.93. The receipt is not itemized, but a copy will be attached at the end of this text for your review. Almost everything was fine, except for my order - the Yucca a la Huancaína. My parents' food arrived at the table first, then I received a side order of fried yucca ($3.95) with a small cup of Huancaína sauce on the side. Though delicious, I did not order this. The description of Yucca a La Huancaína on the menu board behind the counter reads as follows: "Sliced boiled yucca, black olives and a hard boiled egg in a creamy Peruvian dressing," but this is not what I had received. When I pointed out that the order was incorrect, the counter person apologized, but told me that the manager, who also happens to be the chef, was adamant that I had gotten the Yucca a La Huancaína. When something is advertised as being "a La Huancaína," the implication is that it will be served in that fashion (Huancaína sauce poured over sliced, boiled potatoes or yucca, with olives and sliced hard-boiled egg on top, with a garnish of lettuce leaves.) This is what it means to be "al estilo 'Huancaína'." I'm of Peruvian ancestry, and I am very well-acquainted with this dish. I received yucca which was fried, not boiled, had no olives, no egg, no lettuce, and the Huancaína sauce was in a cup. Big difference. What is worse is that the young lady behind the counter was acting as an intermediary between me and the chef (who, as I stated previously, is also alleged to be the manager,) instead of him coming out to speak with me directly himself. Another young lady who had come in to work her shift after we had gotten there was also insistent that I had gotten what I'd ordered and was trying to convince our order-taker of this. When I pointed out the discrepancy to the person who took my order, she apologized profusely but she would not refund me the difference between what I had paid for and what I'd received ($5.00), nor was there any effort whatsoever to correctly prepare what I had initially ordered so I could either have the option of eating it there with my parents, or taking it home. The staff simply dug in their heels and insisted, basically, that I was wrong and that there was nothing they could do about correcting the situation. I don't like spending my time complaining about terrible service, but I cannot let this go unnoticed. If your business is important to you (as I imagine it must be,) the reckless conduct of your employees when you are not around should be of great concern to you. If what happened to me happens to other customers, Inka Express will receive poor reviews and you will lose revenue. In closing, I don't know if we will return to your establishment after my complaint was nullified by those in your employ. I don't like being gaslighted. When mistakes are made or misunderstandings happen, management should bend over backwards to see to it that the customer's complaints are taken seriously and that, ultimately, there is satisfaction. I hope, as the owner of Inka Express, you train your staff members in the proper etiquette of customer relations, otherwise word will surely get around about it, and this will have a negative impact on your business. When I got home, I sent the above-referenced text along with a copy of my receipt. The following day, 01/08/22, I located the Facebook page for Inka Express and found the email address "inkaexpress562@gmail.com" to which I sent the same text and receipt. It is now January 13, and there has still been no response. This happened. It happened to me, and it might very well happen to you; and, if it does, who will come to your defense? The owner?? The owner of this establishment did nothing. The question is: Are we content to play the fool, wandering away quietly in appeasement of this sort of belligerence, or do we fight back? read more
