Review specific to waiter- Not food. Local place, for us at work, we often call and place orders for food, but there is 1 male waiter there that isn't friendly. So we deal with it and order and eat from there any way... Today, was a different story, we came in got greeted by the cook as we walked in, sat down, 10 mins later the waiter finally acknowledged us siting, after passing by us multiple times. We place our order, Thankfully the food came out, and was good (thanks Mr cook). 1 one of us at the table asked for the salsa, they normally give you with the food, He doesn't seemed to please and come back with 1 small salsa for 2 adults with large plates, non the less we didn't say anything we ate our food, and did not anything, at this whole time we finished out meal and our amazing waiter had yet to come see if we perhaps needed water or something, 10 mins later we stand up and go pay at the counter, with him because he was now cooking. . After terrible service from him we close the check, and he tells my brother "you don't know how to say thank you?" My brother hadn't really heard him so he softly said thank you and waived goodbye, he starts walking to the door and says "hey! " you don't know how to say thank you or what? For the second time... Again my brother just smiles and waives it off, no avoid any issues. We get in our car, and we see him walk outside, clearly hot and bothered, So now I get out the car to see what the deal is.... After watching my demeanor change... he changes his and with his attitude says ohh there's no problem here.... And we end it there... horrible horrible horrible service from that man.... IF YOU ARE HAVING A BAD day!! IF YOU HAVE the wrong attitude than your in the wrong business, don't be in the customer service area!! Most definitely not return... Food is great.... Grabbed a quick dinner here while charging our car in the same shopping mall. Place is small and cozy. I'v always liked Peruvian food even though the varieties are small. We decided on ceviche mixto and seafood fried rice. Also cookies and ice cream to go. Inca kola and Perrier sparkling water as beverages. I don't drink regular soda but I drink inca kola occasionally cause it tastes too good! The food was very delicious in big portions. I prefer Peruvian ceviche over Mexican ceviche because of the less acidity in it. The service wasn't exactly the friendliest but very fast. I see this restaurant on DoorDash all the time. I've been loyal to the Higo family restaurants for years, so my recent experience was really disappointing. I ordered multiple dishes for takeout, including tallarín saltado de carne, lomo saltado, tallarín verde, and chaufa, and right away it was clear something was off, their signature flavors were missing. One of the first things I noticed was the use of fettuccine noodles in both the tallarín saltado de carne and tallarín verde, even though the menu still depicts spaghetti noodles. Had I known they switched noodles, I would not have ordered them. The texture is completely wrong for these dishes and it sucked up all the sauce. The chaufa de carne was bland. The ají verde sauce was also noticeably different and lacked its usual kick. Across all dishes I ordered, the beef was tough and roughly sliced, nothing like the tender beef I'm used to here. I checked their website afterwards and found it's no longer active. Between the disappointing food and the inactive site, it feels like this location may have changed management or ownership again. I ordered the arroz chaufa de camarones; they definitely don't skimp on the shrimp. My meal was delish, rice cooked perfect, no mush at all...The perfect amount of red pepper and onions totally complimented this dish! We were immediately greeted by the hostess which immediately seated us.. I ordered and within 8 minutes my piping hot dish was served.. Located in the super busy plaza juxtaposed to the dead PH mall across the street, Higo Peru is a great place to get some casual Peruvian food. We actually came here during the summer when our Norwegian friend was visiting and he's never had this kind of food before, especially Peruvian sushi. Great dish to try especially since he's a bit of a weeaboo dude too. Service was super friend and inviting, all smiles and our food came out decently quickly too. We had to kill some time here before linking up with our other friend and I am glad to say that this is a TCG friendly place since my brother and friends opened up their MTG packs and booster boxes and played a bit here and didn't get any dirty looks or encouragement to leave and open up a table. There were a couple other customers there too, but enough seating to go around when we went. During our visit, since we were going out to eat again, we got 2 of their rolls and they don't skimp out on the sauces, filling and ingredients. We also got their lomo saltado, delicious fries and went great with their famous green sauce. I'm not sure if it's still on the menu, but we got the Papa a la huancaina which is boiled potatoes with egg and a creamy sauce on top. I love the Higo brand of Peruvian Japanese fusion so decided to give this place a try. However I think they've changed ownership a few times. Ordered the chaufa, tallarin saltado with carne. The chaufa was good, had the smokiness of the wok and it was a huge portion. The tallarin saltado was too salty to eat on its own and the beef was not very tender. I've passed this place many times and finally stopped in. You're greeted and seated once soon as you enter the location. There's plenty of seating in a welcoming atmosphere. As the music plays you get comfortable and peruse the menu. Our server made a couple suggestions and provided us with the Peruvian salsas, one green and one red. Remember this is Peruvian, it sounds different, but it's truly amazing. Not long after we had Saltado de Pescado and Tallarín Saltado de Camarón. Now you ask what is this ? The Pescado appeared somewhat similar to having fajitas and white rice. I promise you it was far from that as the flavors are completely different. The pescado was light and refreshing. When accompanied by the veggies and Peruvian sauce it was a symphony for the taste buds. Tallarín you ask ? Some may compare its appearance to shrimp chow mein...but once again, it is not. The noodles are tender yet not overcooked, the shrimp are abundant and plump. When paired with the sauce and the occasional addition of the red and green salsas it's a palate pleaser. There's not a lot of Peruvian restaurants near us, so we were excited to try this out. It's an easily missed store sandwiched between a couple of other restaurants, all tucked away in a bustling plaza. We came just before the dinner rush and noticed there was a lone server working as host, server, and cashier. Despite being clearly overworked, she handled it all with a calm, friendly demeanor. If you're coming during peak hours, patience is your best dining companion. They provided a complimentary cup of toasted cancha (corn nuts), which had a crunchy, salty bite. It was the perfect snack to hold us over as we waited on our meal. They also brought out two sauces: a creamy, herby aji verde with a gentle kick and a mystery orange sauce (rocoto?) that packed some heat I wasn't expecting. For drinks, we got diet Inca Kola (a rare find!) that had its iconic bubblegum sweetness and Maracuyá (passionfruit juice) which was tart and tropical. For entrees, we ordered: Lomo Saltado: This classic stir-fry of beef, sautéed onions, and tomatoes, served with fries and rice, hit all the right notes on flavor. The beef was a bit tougher than expected, which took away from the otherwise comforting dish. Pescado a lo Macho: A fried fish fillet topped with seafood in a creamy, aji amarillo sauce. This one leaned a bit too salty for my palate, but the mussel on top was surprisingly tender and packed with flavor. If you like briny flavors, this might be your dish. For dessert, we ordered Helado de Lúcuma (I was hoping for alfajores, but they were out). The flavor was mild, almost earthy-sweet, topped with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. After a few bites, I noticed this wild yam-like aftertaste which was unexpected, but not unpleasant. Higo Peru offers an authentic, homey taste of Peruvian cuisine. It's definitely filling since it has rice and fries but the flavor is bland. The server is nice but slow, she's on her phone while a customer is trying to get her attention. The place isn't busy yet it's just before the dinner rush. Overall a mediocre experience I've been wanting to try Peruvian food for a long time. I'll try the food again but somewhere else. read more

A nice variation from the concentration of Asian especially Chinese cuisine in the local area. Owner was very nice. Checked on all the customers to make sure everyone was happy. Gave us alfajores to try. The prices seem a teensy bit high but the quality was there so I felt it was still woth it on the whole. I really liked the Arroz Chaufa con Mariscos. The dish is influenced by Chinese immigrants in Peru so I feel it's applicable to say I tasted the "breath of wok" or "wok hei" that's highly regarded in fried rice. I like my Lomo Saltado saucy and this fit the bill. Fried Fish with the Tallerin was also fried perfectly. I've only had a few Peruvian meals so I cannot speak on the authenticity but all I know is it tasted great and I would definitely visit again when I'm in the area. read more

There were just a few tables opened up though. Had to order their Lomo Saltado. It was pretty good. Not to say it wasn't good but I've had better though. It was juicy which I like. Don't like it dry so that was a plus. They did warn you about the green sauce which is why they give you a little first. However, you can ask for more if it's not that spicy for you. Nice hidden gem in a small plaza near the mall located across street. Plenty of parking available but it can get crowded quickly. Service is very courteous and the food came out fast. Lomo saltado is prepared like back in the days, the original style, with all things mixed together, and not with the fries on the side like it's done now in many places nowadays. Prices are very affordable and portions are very generous so bring the whole family. My favorite dish was definitely their Lomo Saltado but I wouldn't skip their Jalea as an appetizer to share because the portions are too large for one or even four people. The noodles with shrimp was tasty too and it's absolutely a dish for sharing as well, they don't hold back on their servings so be prepared to get your belly full ;) read more
