Please save yourself the trouble of this service. While I genuinely like Sabrena, I've had so many issues here. I began looking into laser and electrolysis, and started this service in August before anything else. Sabrena had me in the next day and the rushed process should have been my first red flag. When I arrived, she was nice but upon signing contracts, I seen that I had to waive my rights in case her treatment resulted in scars. Frightened, I asked her directly about the treatment and if it was common to scar (my face has always been silky smooth but I have thick coarse hair), she told me "There's always a risk but I've been doing this so long you'll be fine." Well, she looked at my facial hair, I told her would she recommend me to do laser first to remove most of the hair, she said "this is the best service" and immediately began. I wanted to do a test patch to see how my skin was to react, she told me no and that she decides that SHE wants to go immediately for the upper lip and chin because "that's the area where people see first." She found herself doing the left side of my mustache and the right side of my chin (YES, HALF AND HALF). Her treatment was ONE OF THE MOST PAINFUL EXPERIENCES OF MY LIFE, but the hair was gone and since my face was halfway done, I felt obligated to go back. I noticed that I had raw flesh in certain areas after treatment but assumed I would heal. This was the first of many sessions. Over the next few sessions, I noticed that my skin looked TERRIBLE especially on my upper lip (reminder: my skin was always flawless) and I always took to google to make sure my skin was going to heal, many people online said yes because "electrolysis rarely scars." Over the next few sessions, I repeatedly told Sabrena about my insecurities with the treatment. As with Google, I changed the verbiage- quoting "hyperpigmentation/discoloration/scarring/pitting" WHATEVER it was going on with my face due to her treatment, she gaslit me and told me she "didn't see anything," and quoting that it always looked and healed really nicely." I knew this was a blatant lie but I still held out for hope. She always said "let's clear up that hair and my you attractive," as if I'm already not even decent looking as is. On one occasion when I told her I was nervous about treatment and what's going on, she said "do you want to look younger or not?" looking younger was never my goal, as I look young as is. I don't care to look like a teenager, my goal was to get rid of my thick facial hair that I've always had to appease my gender fluidity. I always talked to my friends about the visible scarring and they agreed that it didn't look right. I finally found the right trigger word: texture. My face had gained a new texture directly caused by Sabrena's treatment. During my final appointment, as well as over $1000 later. I told her to be completely honest with me and this texture I have on my lip. She said "it's the space where I removed the hair follicle," I left- finally satisfied that she acknowledged that there was INDEED something wrong with the treatment area. Then I realized that too was a lie because I previously waxed my face before ever seeing Sabrena and again, it was always smooth. I haven't seen her in more than 3 months and my skin has yet to make a recovery. It looks terrible (to me) even with make up, the texture is there. Electrolysis is painful, strenuous, expensive, and a very long process. I never cared about how others view me, only how I view myself. I'm still hoping my face recovers, it's one of my few insecurities and I would have rather dealt with stubble than whatever Sabrena did to me. I had the displeasure of working with her twice. During our first session, I could tell our personalities weren't going to mesh well. She acted very authoritarian and claimed because she's a flower child from the 60's somehow that gave her a no bullshit tell-it-like-it-is attitude as if being a hippy and a dom are somehow anywhere similar to each other. I could tell there was something underlying there that didn't sit right with me. Sure enough, after our first session I ended up with two to three large sores on my upper lip where she performed services. I make a living with my face, so that wouldn't do. I had followed protocols verbatim and was using witch hazel as directed. It was painful and very unattractive for about a week, but it finally subsided. Prior electrology services with past technicians had never left such a result. The second and last time I went here was Xmas Eve. She berated me the entire 30 min session (if I even got that) like I was a child or a cheating lover because I had visited my other electrologist briefly inbetween sessions. She was heavily offended and told me it would be our last session because once you see her you're basically her property or some other bullshit. Sorry, no one gets me exclusively without my express consent and I don't believe I signed any of her pre procedure/new patient paperwork stating that once I see her for services that she is the only person that gets to conduct services on it. Not even an MD gets that privilege. I should've just walked out then and there. Her attitude was unprofessional and I believe, she intentionally missed obvious spots because of her offense making her petty on top of it. Once she started berating me while shoving electric needles in my face about how she doesn't deal with "casual clients" because "I am HER project", and refused to stop continuing for the entirety of the session was disgusting, shaming, and down right bullying behavior that no one should tolerate. I paid and tipped (which I shouldn't have) because it was Xmas Eve and I wasn't going to let her get to me. For this reason, I will never recommend her to anyone. read more

Sabrena Smith is a good electrologist. She is precise, fast and has a new Apilus machine which enables her to do various methods, including microflash, thermolysis, and blend. She is also pretty flexible on appointments. I've been to several electrologists and go to someone else now is due to the issues below. If you can deal with them, they shouldn't dissuade you from going to her since the treatments are always high quality and she does accept credit cards: - She doesn't track the time of your appointment via a timer like some other electrologists I've tried and answers the phone etc while "on the clock". My preference is for the electrologist to do cleanup/setup and return calls on their own time considering you're paying for every minute of electrolysis and it's not cheap. She does happen to be one of the cheaper options in LA and also one of the fastest, so that probably makes up for it. Also, I don't remember being told that I would be charged for the entire time of appointment if I was running late, though I understand the reasoning behind this. - There is barely any street parking in the area and no free lots around. Sabrena has done around 50 hours spread across my face, chest, stomach, and pubic area. The results have been amazing, my skin is clearer than it's ever been, and at this point in the process I no longer have to shave. I still have regrowth to remove, and a lot of other areas I want to complete, but each week that I go back there's less and less to do. I have fairly light hair, so laser removal is not really an option, but even if it was I till think I would choose electrology over laser removal given that they take about the same time and laser removal seems to cause more damage to the skin. Also, not all electrologists are created equal. I've read that some that are new to the field are take much longer to achieve permanent results, and some don't have any effect at all despite all the effort and money you spend. Sabrena is not one of those, the results I've had so far are permanent, and I feel extremely lucky to have found an electrologist that is so effective. That being said, most people underestimate how much work is necessary to completely remove hair, hair grows in cycles and some hairs stay dormant and take months to develop, so expecting to completely remove your hair in only a couple visits is unrealistic. I've have had wax, laser, and electryolis done and I'd have to say each have different skin reactions depending on your skin obviously. I have never had anything not heal or look bad or any discoloration like I did with waxing. GOING TO SABRENA SMITH FOR THE LAST 9 MONTHS HAS CHANGED MY LIFE FOREVER!!!!! From the 1st treatment, I was in absolute bliss. Here is a little story about me. I don't write a lot of reviews, but I actually looked forward to writing this one! I had my first visit with Sabrena a few days ago (I'll write follow-ups as we progress) and I have to say that I am duly impressed! I'd read reviews, but withheld any judgement because I'd never had electrolysis done. I'm post menopausal, which translates to 'beard and mustache,' and it's not a look I can pull off well. I'd waited too long and so was unable to do laser treatments because the majority of the hair was turning white. Imagine being a professional in an office and having to shave daily so you don't have a white forest growing! Sabrena put me at ease right away, explained the anatomy of hair growth so I fully understood what was going on, and then she set right to work with some great Beatles music playing as a backdrop (which helps to drown out the 'zaaap' of the machine. I did use LMX numbing cream (5% is available through Amazon!) and it was fabulous. Sabrena was gentle, professional, talked only a bit (as I couldn't answer since she was working on my face) and was killing hair at lightening speed! Her phone did ring 3 times while I was in the chair, but she only said, "Call back later..." to the air, and never answered it.
