This story is a harrowing account of greed, unethical behavior, betrayal, and manipulation. It details how Keenan Valdes, the owner of Sachi Fine Jewelry, who presented himself as a capable jewelry designer, took advantage of a customer at every turn, failing to provide any documents, receipts, invoices, or certifications, and breaking every promise made in their verbal agreement. Nearly four years ago, in the spring of 2021, I entered Keenan's store to inquire about designing a ring with a yellow sapphire. I had narrowly survived a life-threatening incident while traveling and was struggling with my health, hoping for a miracle to aid my recovery so I could care for my daughter. A friend's guru, an enlightened yogi known for his expertise in stone healing, recommended that I get a yellow sapphire ring and wear it constantly. I showed Keenan a photo of the design I wanted, stated a budget of $5,000, and requested a stone size of 2-3 carats. Keenan quoted a price of $2,000-$2,500 for the ring, based on the weight of the metal. He was exceedingly charming, assuring me that I was in the right place and that he had a dealer who could get the stone at the best price. When I asked about a down payment, he said I would pay the full amount upon completion if I was satisfied, and that the ring would be ready in six months. Based on consultations with other jewelry designers, I knew that 1-carat should cost around $750, so I believed the total cost would be under $5,000. However, with each meeting, the design and price drifted further from the original plan. Keenan ordered a much larger stone, 4.15 carats, claiming it was a rare find that would make my ring unique and valuable over time making it a family treasure passing through generations. His enthusiasm convinced me to agree, and he told me that I needed to pay $7,777 in cash for the stone within 30 days. I sold my company's stock to make the payment, believing I would receive the ring in six months and that Keenan didn't profit from the stone. (Only 2 weeks ago by pure incident I learned that he made 300% markup on that stone.) Despite the lack of paperwork and the higher cost, I was captivated by his stories and trusted him completely. As time went on, Keenan's behavior became more manipulative. He claimed the stone was too high-profile for the design I wanted but assured me he could create any design. I proposed a few more designs but none of the designs I suggested worked for such high profile stone, and he had no interesting creative ideas of his own. In February 2022, he tried to sell me a premade ring that was completely unsuitable. Realizing I had made a mistake in trusting him, I felt trapped because I had already paid $8K for the stone. The ring was supposed to be ready in August 2022, but Keenan prioritized other orders and suggested I take my business elsewhere. When I asked if he would buy back the stone, he refused, claiming the stone and ring were separate transactions. It was another lie to keep my money. Along the way he pressured me into adding diamonds and making design adjustments to fit those, so the prototype I finally saw in April 2024 was far from what I had envisioned. Finally, after a long wait the ring in platinum was ready on December 14th, 2024. I paid $2,222 in cash and picked up the ring, but upon closer inspection, I found numerous flaws. The stone was set incorrectly (wrong angle) and too high, and the band was twisted in an awkward way. The ring caused discomfort (made my finger to swallow). It was poorly designed, bulky, unstable, and absolutely unwearable. Feeling betrayed and emotionally drained, I requested a refund, but Keenan refused. He lied about taking the money to the bank and paying for materials but after pressuring him to stick to the contract agreement he finally returned the same bills I had given him. He suggested creating a new design, but I had lost all trust in him. When I asked if he wanted to keep the ring setting to sell in his store, he said it was only good for melting down. This meant he knew the ring was so poorly designed that it couldn't be sold, yet he still wanted me to pay for it in the first place. Throughout this ordeal, I received no documentation, invoices, or certifications (even though I requested those). I have no proof of the materials used, their weight, or the authenticity of the stone. After nearly four years, countless appointments, and significant financial loss, I decided to seek legal action. Keenan's refusal to take responsibility and his unethical behavior left me with no other option. When I offered him to settle this case outside the courtroom, he didn't bother to respond to my emails. (I read in another review that he just ignored his clients when he doesn't want to return money for the unfinished work). I went to Sachi about replacing a very special pendant that I wore for 30 years, but lost from my necklace. Working from a photograph, Keenan designed the perfect replica! I couldn't be happier! While I was there about the pendant, he inspected my wedding ring and immediately said that it must catch on everything! In fact, it did catch on clothing, towels and more. He reworked the prongs and it doesn't catch on anything now. I will use Keenan for ALL of my jewelry needs. His prices are reasonable and has an amazing variety in stock. This is my favorite jeweler. We just need to put some adjustments on a longer chain and attach a gold heart for my wife. The place in Lake Stevens closed down and I didn't wanna go to Fred Meyer. I want to find a replacement place. This guy made an appointment with Sachi and is so cool it's on first Street in Snohomish. For many years, I had taken my jewelry for repair to Sachi's on First Street in Snohomish. I knew they had closed a few years ago. When my wedding set of 45 years needed new all new tips (20) I was at a loss where to go and was THIS CLOSE to going to Fred Meyer (yikes) when I realized Sachi's had opened again further east on First Street. I was elated to learn the same goldsmith was the new owner and craftsman. He is a master and my ring looks amazing. Ten seconds in the shop and you realize that his knowledge of goldsmithing is deep and the custom work is incredible. Not something we needed, but he has a lot of fine gems and jewelry in his inventory; in addition to custom work. Sachi's is open by appointment only, but that was not a problem. He communicated via phone or text and was extremely reliable. I will NEVER go anywhere else. A+++++ experience!!! read more

Keenan was amazing! I was having a difficult time finding an engagement ring for my girlfriend, after walking up 1st and stopping at several places I noticed someone in the little red building across from Looking Glass Coffee. I knocked on the door and was met with a very friendly smile. The owner Keenan said that he had just moved to this location after a long absence and that he wasn't set up yet but would be willing to help me with my search. After listening to my description of my girlfriends personality and what I thought she might like he said with a smile "I got it!" He asked me to come back the next day and he would have something amazing to show. Not feeling confident that I would pick something my girlfriend would like, I asked her to come with to look at some options. Best place to have jewelry made, serviced, or cleaned. They made my rings sooo sparkley! I had my wedding ring and push present ring resized and it was taking longer than we thought it would. While I could have taken my ring back to Shane Co. and had it repaired for free under warranty, I had heard from word of mouth that Keenan is an exceptional craftsman and does amazing work. I have never dealt with such horrible customer service in my entire life. My fiance proposed to me with a solitary diamond on a plain band that he bought from Sachi with the idea that he wanted us to custom make the ring together. Part of the plan between my fiance and the jeweler was that the $600 he paid for the plain band would go towards our customized ring. We met with Keenan the jeweler about every 2-3 weeks for 2.5 months and it was so much fun! Keenan met with us personally for about an hour at a time. Keenan seemed so nice, and every meeting with him we would focus on a different detail on the ring with much intensity. The plan was that we would have the fine details established by Christmas, and then the ring would take about 7 weeks to be made. By the end of the 2.5 months, we thought it was weird that the young helpers at Sachi kept pushing back our appointments, stating that they were busy. When we finally showed up for an appointment, we were told by the young store helper that Keenan had left for a "family emergency" in Israel, but we also heard one of the store helpers let it slip that he was on a "job interview". The store helpers were unable to say when Keenan was going to be back, whether it be weeks or months. I was of course in tears, as all of our hard work on my ring was suddenly at a stop. We could tell from the vibe of the store that this was not a temporary thing. We decided to let the Christmas holidays pass and to deal with it when the holidays were over about 3 weeks later. Being just 3 months post engagement, instead of getting to show my relatives my ring during the holidays, I had to tell them that I still didn't have a ring because our jeweler was out of town. After my fiance tried several times to get ahold of Sachi, he finally got ahold of the new store manager, who stated that Keenan still had not returned from Israel. Suddenly there was new management, and the previous store "helpers" had quit. Even the teenage ring designer who promised us that he would stay and help finish the ring even with the absence of Keenan, suddenly vanished and left Sachi. We waited about 3 months total, trying to decide what to do with our ring and Sachi. The new random "manager" told us that we could have a different guy design our ring, but we had never met him in our life or even laid eyes on him. My fiance had paid Keenan for him to personally design and make our ring, so of course we didn't trust anyone else to take over at the very end of the process. We requested to get our $600 money back, but the manager refused. Now we are left with store credit at a place that we have horrible memories at. Every time I step into that place I can't help but shed a few tears. What was supposed to be a moment of pure bliss with our engagement ring, turned into the most stressful and emotional part of preparing for our marriage. We never did hear from Keenan, as the last time we saw him was at our last ring customization meeting. He didn't even have the decency to write us a letter of apology, or to warn us that he was leaving the country or the business. We never once received a full apology from anyone. This is honestly the worst customer service I have have dealt with. It is appalling that a business is able to get away with things like this. We didn't expect any special treatment; just to get what we had originally paid for. I warn everyone to not take a single step into that store.
