A quick search while traveling through Binghamton brought up Paul & Sons Pizza as one of the best options for New York style pizza in the city. They are located in a modest unassuming brick storefront that you probably would just drive by if you weren't specifically looking for it, and they primarily stick with pizza on their menu. The interior is sparse with one table and a couple stools alongside the window if you're quickly looking to eat a slice, but primarily a take out type of place. The smell of a proper pizzeria hits you as soon as you walk in, with several employees hard at work in the kitchen. They aren't open every day, but are clearly popular when they are open, as it took about an hour for the order to be ready, so best to call in advance to check on status. We wanted something simple, so stuck with the standard large cheese pizza (4/5) for take out. The pizza was delicious and prepared using high quality ingredients, with a chewy crust. The base of the pizza was pretty floppy without much firmness to it, but it was thin enough such that it didn't detract much from the experience. The pizza was a slight bit on the sweet side with Parmesan and I think either basil or parsley on top, which added a bit of a stronger flavor profile to the pizza. Personally, I'm not a fan of Parmesan on top of a pizza, so probably would ask for it without it if I were to order from them again, but some parm lovers may like it a bit more. A little less parm and crispier crust would warrant a higher rating from me, but overall the pizza was solid and prepared well, so I would recommend giving Paul & Sons Pizza a shot if you find yourself in the mood for pizza in Binghamton. read more

When I mean this was some of the best pizza I've had in my life! It's a small establishment with one table in the middle, and about 7 counter top tables along the window. We drive from Endicott to buy pizza here. Having been born in NYC, this is just like a New York City pizza. Ingredients are fresh. Staff is friendly and courteous. Parking may be a bit on a challenge in this neighborhood and you may need to walk a half block. They are next to Cavanaugh's market store and across the street from The Beef. I live in Brooklyn and have been in Manhattan and Brooklyn for decades. My daughter goes to Binghamton and lives off campus across the street from Paul& Sons. I pulled up to this place after reading reviews and was underwhelmed by how the restaurant looks from the outside. Oh dear it needs a makeover, BUT the staff was super friendly. I was hoping to get pizza by the slice but they were so busy that they were unable to keep up with orders and keep slices available to order. So...we got a pie instead. To keep the kids happy we went with a basic pie and I asked for extra sauce just in case because nothing is worse than a glorified dry ass bread stick posing as a pizza. The pizza was great, sauce to cheese ratio was great and it was little spicy. I guess it was the pepperoni?? Idk. The kids did not complain and neither did I. I was quite happy to have extra left over slices to eat the next day. There probably is not much I can say about Paul & Sons Pizza that hasn't already been said but I will at least attempt to describe how much I love this place. I moved to Binghamton from Long Island a few years ago and was pretty disappointed at the quality of Binghamton's pizza until I went to Paul's. The exterior is nondescript which I feel is a good sign that the food inside will be great since amazing chefs usually let the food speak for itself. Paul is an award winning chef who is well known in Manhattan. He spent his career working at some of the finest eateries in NYC including a Michelin starred restaurant. His Pizza DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! All of the pies are insanely good, from the classics like cheese, pepperoni to his specialty pies like Gorgonzola, walnut, balsamic or his weekly specials which includes a mouth watering ramps covered white pizza or gyro styled pizza and many more. I can't recommend Paul's enough. Paul & Sons prioritizes quality over quantity which is rarely seen anymore. They are open 4 days a week Wed-Sat. It's pretty common to see a line forming outside before they open at noon so try and get there after 12:15 if coming for lunch. Stop in and try their pizza for your self if you haven't already. Hands down, the best pizza in Binghamton. Both times we've had their pizza, we've wanted to order on a day that they're closed but decide to wait till Wednesday and haven't regretted it. My family and I are Southern California transplants and have STRUGGLED finding good pizza. From the moment I saw the photos and reviews I knew this was our place and came closest to our favorites back home. The Sausage, Pepper and Garlic pizza is amazing, my favorite once I get it home. I bet though that the Tomato, Basil and Mozzarella would be equally amazing right out of the oven...well, a few minutes later since that stuff is hot lol High quality ingredients, taste and supporting a small business really can't taste any better. Price is great, and the workers are nice, but there really aren't many so sometimes the wait is a bit long. Not the cleanest place either, but not to the point where it is an issue.
