If you like Mac & Cheese, you will have a hard time making a selection. James was our server. He was above and beyond amazing. His passion for this place and his job make him the perfect person to be here. We can't thank him enough for the wonderful history lesson and exceptional service he provided us. He is a keeper.... We really enjoyed our first visit- watching a local band play here. Beautiful woodwork throughout the place and stage. Good acoustics, not too horribly loud for a four piece band. We're good friends with the bass player. Normally we have our open mic night on Thursdays but needed a couple of days off to recuperate after the holidays. So this was a treat. Nice setting a inside and out . We were welcomed in by a friendly guest. Tables were left with drinks on them for too long. It didn't seem to be overly busy. read more

Road tripping back from Canada, my girlfriend and I were hungry for dinner and didn't want to grab a boring fast food / rest stop meal. We searched around and found this place just off our route and headed in. The waitress was friendly, service was quick, and the food was fantastic. I got the buffalo chicken wrap, absolutely packed with good quality shredded chicken and buffalo sauce and very tasty. My girlfriend got a salad that she really enjoyed - very big portion as an added bonus. The place itself looks really cool and I would love to go to see live music there if I were in the area. I wish there was a venue like this near my home. If I ever find myself in the area again, I know I've got a solid option with the Ransom Steele Tavern. read more

Love, love, love the atmosphere of this bar! Live music and amazing wood interior. Every detail of the place was added with the patron in mind. Ledges to place your drinks on the balcony, second bar and bathrooms upstairs for convenience, and so much space!! The vibe last Saturday was really laid back and chill. A few people danced, but most stood or sat around enjoyed the music and chatted. The bands were good and the bartenders were really quick and efficient. Love the Ransom Steele Tavern. Great food, and great music. My go to meal is typically the chicken spedies, the cheese they use just makes the meal. The pizzas are phenomenal, I tried them all more than once. The music that Mike and Denise bring in is top notch. I especially like Next to Kin and Bug Tussle, but I have discovered many new bands too. This place is a gem, not just for Apalachin, but for the triple cities region. read more

Ransom Steele is a gem in a small town! Many local performers play here. It's an old hotel that has been refurbished with a gorgeous wooden interior, indoor deck like area surrounds the stage from above, allowing everyone to view the stage area. They draw quite the crowd on the weekends! I have yet to try the food but plan on doing so. read more

The service this Saturday evening was absolutely embarrassing. There was one other table of maybe 4 or 5, and 2 guys at the bar. It took an hour to get our food. We basically ordered nachos and Mac and cheese. I can't say I'll be back any time soon which is a bummer because the food there is usually good. We went here on a whim and loved it. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The updates to the historic building were modern and sleek but retained the historic charm. The place advertises that they're open from 3pm to 2am. We've never been there and we're excited to try it out. We showed up at 6pm for dinner. The doors were locked yet we could here a band playing and people inside. After knocking on the door, someone who works there showed up and told us to come back at 7pm and shut the door on us. Pretty poor first impression. Probably never go back to try it. There are plenty of other places around the area that are equally good that want your business. read more

Not really for kids, limited selection for food. I.e. No French fries which I thought was strange for a bar. Pizza was good and French onion soup was good and really nice bar to hang out and watch live music, but I just don't recommend as a family restaurant to eat. We went to Ransom Steele's last night for the first time. My wife got a turkey burger and I ordered a Sausage, pepper and onion pizza. My wife said her burger was really good. Now I'm the kind of guy that will never leave pizza behind. I either eat it all or take the leftovers home. I have to admit, this was by far the worst pizza I have ever eaten and I have eaten pizzas for over 60 years from all over the country. It was horrible and at a cost of $17.00. They should take pizzas off their menu because they are charging extra high premium prices for a horrible product that they have no idea how to make. Just go to the Dugout down the road for a five star pizza if that's what you're looking for. IF I ever go back, I can assure you that I won't be ripped off for a garbage pizza again. Went here on a Wednesday with a friend who goes there a lot, but had never tried the pizza. It was a very quiet night. Service was very quick and friendly. The lack of a crowd may have helped. We got the sausage, peppers, onions pizza and it was awesome, a nice balance of the toppings. They have a nice selection of beers on tap, including local craft beers. It was also open Mic night.
