I had to travel downtown for a work training and was so excited to see that they have a location near where I was. I used to go to the Tempe one all the time and I'm so obsessed with our food. Everything I've ever tried is incredible! You'll get me shorted on the cookies. I know that your meal comes with a free little cookie, but I always buy one or two more because of that delicious. The spice tea is also a huge staple, and I would drink a whole gallon of it if I could! The staff is friendly, nothing that went out of the way as far as providing customer service, but they definitely got the job done. Absolutely love Sacks. My go to is the egg salad sandwhich (Sacks Dali). The best hands down in my opinion. Service is always friendly. I believe they are the only location that has the brand of cream soda. It so good. The bonus is you get a sweet treat as well in the form of a cookie. Check them out. I was reading the good reviews and had high hopes but it was the worst sandwich I've ever had!!! I got the Symphony on 12 Grain, but the bread was so stale and crumbly you could literally scrape it with your nails. It was all crumbly and falling apart, so I was just picking at the inside of the sandwich. What a terrible disappointment. For me the bread is the most important part. It's like they gave me bread that had been sitting out for weeks. The small chocolate chip cookie was the only thing worth eating. Was looking for a quick bite before hitting the road and had heard great things about Sack's Sandwiches. Overall was really impressed with the service, flavor and overall options! The team was so friendly and helped answer questions as we worked through the menu. My husband and I opted for the Sacks Symphony, a turkey base sandwich with all the fixings, and the Sacks Dali which is an elevated egg salad sandwich. Both sandos were stacked, made to order and overall delicious. We also got their lemon bar, a large cookie and then two small cookies came with our sandwich (I am not sure if this is normal or they threw them in for us, but they were warm and delicious!) Everything was tasty and it was a perfect pre-road trip meal on a hot day. The overall value was awesome and we left happy and full. I've been a fan of Sack's for years, although I've only been to the Tempe location before now. This location has a nice big dining room with a beamed ceiling and string lights. There is also a covered patio with additional tables. I like it a lot! The gentleman at the register was very helpful, especially when I asked about the feta dressing, which had been recommended to me. I am a creature of habit and ordered my usual, the "Overture" without horseradish sauce. I always add my own touch--i stuff my jalapeno potato chips inside my sandwich. . Don't knock it . . . I visited this location because it is across the street from St. Joe's, so when hubby is released, I'm not likely to return to this location. Been here before and was always fast and good. The other day I was done placing my order for 16 sandwiches by 9:50 and said I wanted to pick up at 11.30. got there At 11:30, wasn't ready so I paid and tipped 20%. Between 11:30 and 11:45 more than 12 customers came in, placed their order and got there food. I would have thought that orders placed early would have been ready at the pick up time. No "sorry for the delay". Wish I would have waited to tip in cash after getting the order. I normally get lunchtime delivery from this place. It's usually the same. The Improv for me. Sometimes the oriental noodle salad, too. Sometimes the potato salad. Chips are also in the rotation of sides. My co worker usually gets the Symphony. All the food has been consistently fresh and tasty. I finally visited for the first time after a nearby doc visit. Their customer service is pretty awesome, too. Friendly, smiling faces. Clean facilities. Ooh, great selection on cookies, so I bought three. Don't judge me. This place never disappoints. Except when they close on weekends. Their sandwiches are craveable! I kid you not. They are one of the few reasons I look forward to Mondays over the weekend. I will always recommend them. Sacks' is a legand to me, they have the best sandwiches and salads. I usually get the Cesar with Wing sauce (yes I know that defeats the purposes of healthy) but it's still good. They deliver so it's great for those in-office meetings when lunch is needed. Kenny runs a great shop and is always so friendly when I call to place an order...typically for delivery! Everyone loves what they get and my go-to's are the chicken salad, tuna salad, and the make-your-own sandwiches with turkey or roast beef. They will customize everything for what you want and all of the ingredients are freshly made, cut, curated, etc.! It was approaching lunch hour and we were by downtown Phoenix. They have their signature sandwiches and salads and you can also create your own. I got a Sacks symphony which is turkey with alfalfa, cream cheese, tomato, avocado, bacon and mayo on 12 grain. Hubs created his own turkey sandwich with lettuce, mayo, pickles and cheese. We also got a potato salad and chips. The wait wasn't long and we had our sammies in hand. The bread was so soft and fresh and these sandwiches were HUGE! They definitely do not skimp on the fixings. In my typical (little sister in law) fashion, I copied her this afternoon when I popped into sacks with my dad (Marky M.) Having gone to ASU, I spent a lot of time in college eating Sammys at their location in Tempe but have only eaten at the Phoenix location once and it was outside. Wow, the location is huge! I get the Reuben whenever I go. It is my favorite Reuben in PHX and has never disappointed me. Even if you order in it never takes more than 10 min to receive your food. The sand which is made to order, all the meats & condiments are fresh. They offer a variety of sides & desserts which is different and are all pretty good. They are higher end subs so they are a little bit pricier but healthier option than McDonald's! Alright so for $10 you get a large sandwich, a small cookie, and a bag of chips. I came in for lunch at noon on a Monday and I was still able to find parking and the line was very short which I was relieved to find. I ordered "The Impressionist" which is, "Choice of 2 cheeses, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrots, avocado, onions, sprouts, cream cheese, mayo, on 12 grain bread." And they have plenty of cheeses to choose from, "Swiss, American, Provolone, Jack, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Havarti, Cream Cheese." Although the menu is "art" inspired, the shop is hunteresque with arrows and animal skulls. I liked it, it just didn't seem to match the menu. Neat sandwich shop, definitely more to look at here than at Subway.
