Sacks is a local sandwich shop that is almost ALWAYS busy during lunch time hours. They offer an order online option to make it more convenient for pickup. Even if you order in it never takes more than 10 min to receive your food. The sand which is made to order, all the meats & condiments are fresh. They offer a variety of sides & desserts which is different and are all pretty good. They are higher end subs so they are a little bit pricier but healthier option than McDonald's! Alright so for $10 you get a large sandwich, a small cookie, and a bag of chips. I came in for lunch at noon on a Monday and I was still able to find parking and the line was very short which I was relieved to find. I ordered "The Impressionist" which is, "Choice of 2 cheeses, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, carrots, avocado, onions, sprouts, cream cheese, mayo, on 12 grain bread." And they have plenty of cheeses to choose from, "Swiss, American, Provolone, Jack, Cheddar, Pepper Jack, Havarti, Cream Cheese." Although the menu is "art" inspired, the shop is hunteresque with arrows and animal skulls. I liked it, it just didn't seem to match the menu. After a bit of convincing, I gave in to having Sacks Sandwiches for lunch. Although I was a bit skeptical at first, I went against my better judgement and tried it anyways. Oh boy, am I glad I did!!! I looked up their menu online and, after reading through some of their options, I opted to go with the Sacks O'Keefe (Hot!). Once I got my sandwich, I was excited to take that first bite... and let me tell you, it was DELISH!!! The baguette was jam-packed with flavorful, juicy, grilled seasoned chicken breast, sautéed mushrooms, Swiss cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard dressing. Mouthwatering and filling; I definitely could only eat half -- it's very savory. Each sandwich came with a ooey gooey freshly baked chocolate chip cookie; baked to perfection -- crunchy on the edges and ooey gooey in the middle. Perfect dessert after such a great sandwich! Why haven't I reviewed this place yet when I've been enjoying it for years! The first time I remembered we had it catered in for lunch at work was during Covid... it was at that time I discovered their thanksgiving turkey sandwich. It's filled with sweet cranberry sauce, stuffing, crisp lettuce, and of course, turkey! Flavor blast in your mouth! Every time we do our group orders, that is my go to! Decided to stop in the for the first time for lunch today and didn't have many expectations going in. But once we were greeted with the family vibe and helpful staff, we were excited to try our food! They also have amazing combinations of flavors in their featured sandwiches. My personal favorite is the Mona. Lox, avocado, sprouts, and onion on fluffy pumpernickel hits the spot when its warm out. Every sandwich comes with a small chocolate chip cookie, because they love you at Sacks. They have a large area with plenty of tables inside but be warned it is a zoo around Noon and rightfully so. We stopped for sandwiches to take back to the hospital and the cashier went out of her way to give is a drink carrier and a box to make it easier to carry. My husband was scheduled to have an outpatient procedure at St. Joseph's across the street, so I scouted out places for a quick, healthy lunch. Sacks fit the bill nicely. It was a quick walk over. The dining room was full--all tables were claimed, though there were empty seats--but there was no line ahead. I ordered a Symphony and bought a bad of Fritos for my son. The cashier immediately told me there were cups for water over to one side; I really appreciated that she brought that up before I could ask! I stood off to one side to wait. A huge mass of people came in. I was impressed with how quickly the cashier took orders and how fast the kitchen was completing them. My sandwich was done in five minutes! We went out to the patio, which was almost totally empty. It was a hot day, about 108 forecast for the high, but the patio was completely shaded and quite comfortable. I felt like I'd found a top secret hidey hole. The Symphony sandwich was good. It reminded me of the kinds of sandwiches I used to make when I was a kid! It wasn't gourmet or fancy, but it didn't need to be, and it sure was a lot fresher, better, and healthier than what it offered by fast food places. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at Sacks, but the menu is diverse, the food is good, and it's always nice to know of reliable places like this. My mother and I like to try new places in midtown every Monday, and this week it was Sack's Sandwiches. As I pulled up, I was not hopeful. Most of the locally owned restaurants in midtown have very modern, updated looks to them, but Sacks looks a bit out of sync. However, my low expectations made the food all the better. My mother and I ordered two sandwiches, pardon me for forgetting the names, but one had a bunch of peppers and vinaigrette on it, and the other was roast beef and horse radish. We each ate half and both were fantastic. I cannot even begin to describe the wonderful flavors, you must go and try them yourself. Also, the chocolate chip cookies were fantastic to add to the meal. I go here for lunch. It's not a big place and can be loud at times. You order off of a menu board. They write your order on a paper sack with your name. For the most part the the service is fast. The food always tastes good and fresh. You do have a hard time getting connected to the internet on your phone there which is a pain sometimes. Some of the tables feel sticky that have a varnish on them which may be a turn off. This is an average place. If you're looking for good food give it a try. Nothing fancy here though. read more
