I have been racing here for 25 years, since high school. Not much has changed. Friendly staff, ample parking, and hours of fun. It seems like the track caters to the muscle cars the most, I suppose they gave the track the most business. I now take my son here, I hope it's still open next year when he's 16. It seems that times are changing. there not enough young people interested in Dag Racing all you have to do is look at the school systems, they closed down most auto shops and machine / welding shops the classes that were available to me. Any way My Racing Partner Howard Ford and I (Dreckmann Racing) got involved with the founders of the now Super Comp class that back then called Nor Cal Outlaw Pro Gas Running heads up 8.90 sec. One rule was the race car had to have doors. The association had individuals like Bob Bunker, Dave Riolo, Howard Ford, Doc. Finley, Bonny & Leroy Felson, Cliff Cottrel and many more. I hadn't been to the raceway in over 10 years, but recently came for both Governor's Cup and Truck Mania. The two events were like night and day. Governor's cup ran smoothly and they seemed to know what they had going on. Truck Mania seemed to be the opposite. It was a great time, but the whole event seemed very clunky and poorly managed. This track has so much potential! With some spruced up stands, fresh paint, and pavement on pathways, this place has the potential to be a killer racetrack that pulls in huge crowds on the regular. read more

My car's most favorite (and LEGAL) playground! Know the rules before you come. Do burn outs when necessary. Be nice to the workers here...they're nice people. Sometimes there's a cute pug at the box after your race where you collect your time slips. Wednesdays: 15$ to race bracket!! Cheap way to partake in some 1/4 mile action They also have grudge fests, test and tunes, and specific events (CMI!!!) during the weekend. So this is what guys do when their testosterone levels are high... My man friend took me along with him so I finally got to witness what the guys do when they hangout and bring back jokes like: "13 1 is still better than 13 2" haha The drive to the track was kind of rural-ish. And you can tell you're getting closer to it when you see more of the modded and dumped cars and then you hear the squeals of their wheels. I believe we went on a weekday, and for each head in the car you had to pay entrance fee. For a weekday, it was pretty packed. There were four lines and they alternated those lines to race, so you couldn't plan which lines to go in so that you can race against your friend. Aww that kind of defeats the fun of it no? I'd want to race against my friend and if my car is fast you know, be a douche about it and rub it in his/her face :P I believe that helmets were a requirement for passengers. Therefore, I got to don one and look cooler than I really am. Too bad s2k was too fast and if you are faster than a certain time, you can't have any passengers! :( I only got to be on the track once and then could only watch from the stands. Party pooper The day I went, there were lots of muscle cars and also kind of the ghetto version jdm style cars. It was a really mixed crowd. We didn't stay too long on the track because.... the differential popped on the s2k. LOL I saw him doing a burn out and then POP *smoke* and everyone just making a hoot. hahah Unfortunately, fortunately, I didn't have to hang out at the stands by myself for long at all :) I'm glad I got to go here once with the guys. It's not my favorite past time, but it was enjoyable while it lasted. Also..... you will hear only manly car talk the whole time. Some people just breathe that ish. We live right around the corner from the Sacramento Raceway...so close that we can here the cars speed around the track at night. Totally awesome. A few weeks ago on our way home from dinner, we noticed there was an event at the Raceway so we pulled in. Finding our way inside was a bit confusing, but we managed just fine. We had lots of fun and the price wasnt too bad. We'll definitely be back. read more

Grudge Racing (call out friends or foes) all summer on Saturday nights (April to October and it is only $35 to race as many times as you can and only $5 to watch) and if you do not want your time(s) displayed you can elect not to and thus make it difficult for others to know just how fast you are... The track is also open all winter Saturdays for tuning too (as many runs as you can get in for $50 and $10 to watch). Make sure and check their website as there are many special events all year long. Lots of free parking, up close bleacher seating, a snack bar w/ hot food and friendly employees too. read more

I remember coming here with friends seeing what they could do after a fresh tune and a few more pounds of boost and regretting not bringing my own car to run. Not long after I was up here running consistently on street tires (after i learned to go around the water box :P). I am not one to push a car on the street because things get going very quickly and a felony is seconds away, but at a racetrack you can see what you can do without the mental roadblocks of kids, dogs, other cars, etc.. Every car I have driven here have hooked very well on street tires (240whp 280ft lbs of torque fwd, 370rwhp 390ftlbs mustang, Gixxer) though with the mustang it started to get squirrely about 1/3 the way down the track in the left lane but great in the right lane so they try to keep it prepped but they could do better. Just be aware if you are on a bike and not sure about your balance because the winds can pick up quite a bit here during the right time of the year. I have also seen all kinds of cars here from 1,000+hp drag cars to an impala with spinner rims to crotch rockets and everything in between. As an added bonus the staff is very friendly. read more

I was here for Mud Factor 2012 - a 5k that includes obstacle courses in mud. It was my first time here. There was $10 for parking, so we ended up parking outside the gates for free! There were cars racing during the event. Pretty cool and there were bleachers nearby to watch the race. I did not see any restrooms, so had to use a portopotty. BOO! read more

Been going here for fifteen years. I don't know what their problem is this year but the organization extremely lacking. It used to be a great place to go race but after having to eat $70 today because the traffic was so out of control I'll no longer patronize this place. This is after the new year's debacle where you were lucky to get two runs in after sitting around all day. I'm glad to see this GARBAGE establishment is closing in a few years. read more

Track is prepped well. It's an aged facility, but it's a good racetrack. Safety can be lax sometimes, but the employees are careful and courteous. I like to run my car there. They have a pretty good safety crew. They put on a lot of events every year. We travel to a bunch of tracks, and this one has it's own personality, just like the others. Be nice to the tech guys, they'll be nice to you. Act like an @$$ and you'll view from outside the fences. read more

It helps being the only track in town, but these guys still keep things running pretty smoothly in spite of a tight budget. It's always good cheap family fun at their spectator events, and the T&T/grudge nights are great fun for anyone that wants to go down the track! I like the place, even though it's been the sight of 2 transmission deaths for me. I guess there's just too much grip on that track!!! read more

Great place me and my friends come up here from Stockton on wednesday nights, sure on those nights it can be packed but you cant beat being alowed to race and not worry about getting in trouble. Great safe track and lots of fun, 1/4 mile time slips available, very legit set up. read more

I've been coming to this track since 1975. They used to have more better events then. Live entertainment, wet t-shirt contest, more than 50 funny cars qualifying at one event. Shirley Muldowny always came out to race. I remember temptation and Folsom flash race against each other all the time. John force raced here in the 80's with coke a cola funny car. Used to be 10.00 to get in kids under 12 free. 5.00 pit pass. Now it's more expensive. Since they build new housing around the track, they really can't do any upgrades. This track will not be there forever. read more

Old school and good people here. I come on wednesday nights alot! and major events. NO super strict rules here and very family friendly. Usually for an additional $5 you can park inside the track when events permit and bring your own food and drinks which can save you a ton of money. However they also sell food at their snack bar. If you are having tech issues at other tracks, come here, they are safe and responsible but not overly strict. read more

I give it 3 stars because it was where I found a love for drag racing. 1990 was around first visit and on and on from there. All my kids have been there. Over the many visits, I noticed the track and overall condition of the place kind of deteriorating. Paint, rust on bleachers, and the boards on bleachers. This has not been remedied since I can remember. I visited with my youngest tonight, Nite of fire/fox hunt, which now are combined, use to be separate. The track officials are far and few, people smoking weed around kids, that was why I decided to write this review. This track makes money, not the greatest money, but cmon, $2 for a 16oz water?? And people buy them out. The spectator side has been all but abandoned, bleachers thrown to back of lot! It's a far cry from its hayday. I write this in hopes they will make it awesome again. It really needs better management! I'll add some photos. 2 to show how the track as a bunch of morons who won't listen, standing all around active races. Went here to watch my son run his car. It was fun watching and the street tacos were really good and the parking staff were handy at directing us where to park. The only problems I had was the grand stands were dangerous. If I was the type that was seeking a law suit because I fell out of the stands this would be the place I would go. Loose/unattached/rotted boards. I guess because they are closing down the road maintenance is not required. Also I thought it odd that there were no fire/safety crews on the track as the kids were racing. read more

It's a good local place to race and keep it legal, off the streets. The staff seem to be pretty low key and that's how they run the place. They are kid friendly, just be sure to bring ear protection for them. There are nicer drag strips but they are far away, this one will do just fine for most of your drag racing needs. read more

Sacramento racer here. Been 3 times in the past few months. Poor Test and tune organization. Poor lane maintenance. Biased "buddy system" during staging lane phase. I had to wait in the staging lane for nearly an hour while the same racers got multiple runs every few minutes. I'd love to go here because it's so close. Unfortunately until they fix the unfair treatment of their customers I will be making the drive to Sonoma. read more

Pricey for weekend test runs but the track prep is ON POINT. Nice staff, good concessions and it doesn't get crowded.

I race often at sacto raceway,I feel it is a well run track that caters to racers from top tier pros to the first timer bringing out mom's station wagon on a wed night. The staff are good people but pros at what they do.You can avoid most scolding from them by reading the NHRA rulebook ( the sanctioning body for most car events there) before you come. Good way to know what's going on & what's expected of you. You don't need a full tilt face car to win or have fun there. I race in a VW class there for early air-cooled Volkswagens ( National Auto Sports Association) and can often be found there on weds. before our weekend events in my street legal white '66 bug. At 20.00 seconds it is likely the slowest car there,but consistent runs with a quick light cut at the start, gets you a win light. Weds. I'm out there to practice on the "christmas tree"( the starting lights) but I'm beating faster cars all the time. Tho' it's under the gun from outside forces, (development,etc) i hope it can survive. Drag racing can be a BLAST. read more
