I made a reservation for four on at noon on a Sunday. We had family in from out of town, and wanted to go somewhere for brunch that served goetta. I ordered a bloody Mary that I didn't care for. It seems to have muddled parsley leaves in it, making it hard to drink with a straw. It was also pretty small for the price. Service was slow, but friendly. They were very busy. When the food came, it made up for the wait! I had the goetta breakfast with scrambled eggs. It was so delicious! The eggs were soft scrambled - maybe the best I've had at a restaurant. The goetta was a generous portion and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The hashbrowns are kind of like little cubes of shredded potatoes, fried up to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were delicious. My boyfriend ordered the omelet, which I tried and thought was very good - creamy and with a nice tang from the goat cheese. We will definitely be returning! read more

They really elevate what seems like "basic" fare. Their wedge salad is really not a wedge, but it's evocative of it and it's WONDERFUL. The best chicken nuggets in the world -- which is what they should call them -- paired with homemade ranch, spicy mustard, and a wonderfully complex barbecue sauce, surprising because it's made with only four ingredients. Where else are you gonna find Chinese broccoli? It's great btw. My Mr. put in reservations for 7:00 pm on a Saturday. We got there and were seated right away. Our server was attentive and very helpful with explaining the items on the menu (we had a couple of questions). I liked that it was simple and not overwhelming. You can even have breakfast for dinner. Items are a la carte so you are able to get side items and share. The pricing is reasonable. Decided to start off with a glass of red wine and my Mr. got an IPA. Great drink selection! My friend highly recommend me get the Covington iced tea (loved the coffee flavor-very refreshing) so I got that after dinner. We ordered: -Single Hamburger -2 orders of Fries -Chicken Crispers -Chinese Broccoli We got our order right away. The service is super quick! They were all good. I've dined here a few times. Their breakfast items are fine, but I wanted a burger for lunch. The burger is $19 and doesn't come with fries ($7 extra). I got a $15 cheeseburger and fries special and it was pretty mediocre. Not bad, but not very good either. The pricing is way too high for the quality of food. Every time I come here, full of disappointment. The menu is trying to hard to be different that nothing really taste good. Even before covid the service was lacking but now it's worse. I came here for a friend's birthday dinner around 7pm on a Saturday night. We did have a reservation and were seated shortly after arriving. The vibe is pretty cool. They were playing lots 70s bangers. Everyone was decked out in FC Cincinnati stuff for the game, which they were showing on a tv at the bar. Our server Gabriel was really nice and answered all of our questions about everything on the menu. He recommended the Covington Iced Tea which was vodka, lemonade, San pellegrino, and cold brew. It sounded so weird so I had to try it. I was NOT disappointed. Definitely would get again. I didn't order any food but everyone else's looked good. They were good portion sizes too. My only hang-up was that the combination of the music and the open kitchen makes it realllyyyy loud in there. It was hard to hear people even across the table. Stopped in for a late-night dinner on the way home from the airport, they close in the early morning so that was great. The vibe inside is really cool and modern, you can tell they just opened. The service was great, open kitchen, seat yourself. They have a bar, tables, booths (which are super comfy), and the walls are windows so you can people-watch while you eat. The prices were steeper than I was expecting. We tried the vegan goetta and the breakfast plate. The goetta is made with beets and grains and reminded me less of goetta and more of the veggie burger at Northstar Cafe. The breakfast comes with wet scrambled eggs and DELICIOUS lemon ricotta pancakes, amongst other things. Both meals came with homemade dipping sauces; I enjoyed the kimchi ketchup, I did not enjoy the maple sauce for the goetta. Would return. read more

The burgers here are the reason I would go back! Easy, simple and delicious is a good way to market and that's what they do. You can add a fried egg and/or pork belly to fancy it up, but it's a good burger on its own. We tried to lobster fries appetizer and I was very underwhelmed, sure it tastes a little like lobster but it was basically and lobster broth. Well this was a high point in this year's food tour of Cincinnati. My aunt is a Cincinnati native and has been pretty much everywhere in the city, but we were walking down the street trying to decide where to go for lunch and her face absolutely lit up when we came up on this place. She hadn't tried it yet, so it was a new experience for both of us! Our server was really attentive and REALLY excited to be at work. I love when people appear to love where they work. The cocktails were amazing. And the food was fantastic. We shared the HOUSEMADE pork rinds, steak tartare, marinated cucumbers and the watermelon feta salad. The watermelon feta salad was out of this world. Like.... seriously fantastic. You know what a sign of a great lunch is? When you go home and make it for the rest of your family for dinner. Went to Sacred Beast over the weekend for book club. My girlfriend had already looked over the menu previously and was excited at their offerings. We ended up splitting a few items since we wanted to try a lot. My mom has always made deviled eggs and delicious ones at that, but their version is tops! They are able to make a perfectly balanced doneness for their eggs, then top it with the deviled part. Beet salad with pistachios and goat cheese - yum! Marinated cucumbers. For the main meal, I ordered a single burger with egg and cheese on top, but the real genius is instead of a bun they substituted a well-cooked hash brown pattie! That had never entered my imagination before and was amazing! Service staff was helpful and friendly, too. We will definitely go back again and try more of their fantastic food! read more

Oh wow, cannot believe I still have not written how cool this place is! Best Au Cheval-like burger in Cincinnati with one of the best patios! Pre-COVID-19 this was one of few places in OTR that offered a shaded spacious and fenced patio. I am a great fan of eating outdoor and, coming from Europe, never understood why so few places offered outside dining in the hip OTR. For this reason, the Sacred Beast is always a top choice for a warm evening feast! Now, with the pandemic, the Sacred beast added extra tables to the street between their place and Pepp&Dolores. They did a great job installing an open tent, cute strings if lights, plants, carpets. It is a very cozy patio and fantastic for people watching. Like many of us, I was on a fence on whether to dine out or take away, but needed the sense of normality and in the end opted to book a table last weekend. All staff wear masks and they sanitize the tables and door knobs often. The tables are spread out safely and the patio is fenced, so the foot traffic is controlled and contained. I loved the small cute sanitizer spray bottles on each table, which I used several times throughout the meal. Silverware was wrapped in napkins and swapped with every course. The menus are single use, nice double sided print-outs, very hygienic. The only thing I would suggest extra is a little latch on restrooms doors to be able to open with a foot, but that is something few places have so far. The ordering went pretty great. My husband and I wore masks and it is actually really easy to talk through them, no problem at all with communicating. We each got a cocktail as an aperitif while deciding on our courses, they came quick and were nice on a summer night, but they do make them on a sweet side. Sacred Beast has always had a very trimmed simple (yet not simplistic) menu. A lean one pager with just a few courses, but they always manage to execute perfectly. If you had never been here before, you should try the burger, top burger in town. It is inspired by famous Au Cheval in Chicago, so it comes with thin patties, two (single) or three (double). They now offer several styles, a filling heavier one with a sauce or a lighter take. It does not come with fries, so if you get a side, I suggest their version of hashbrowns, a fried crunchy veggie mix shaped in cubes. I really like their salads beautifully plated and always good, especially the cobb one that comes with a goat cheese dressing. This last time I tried their home made gnocchi with mushrooms, it was soft and delicious and came with a thin light sauce that felt appropriate for the summer. It's hard to offer Italian classic when you are right opposite Pepp&Dolores, but their version was very good and really different than elsewhere. I was happy I could dine out and remind myself that despite the pandemic, we will eventually be back. I felt like the Sacred Beast does a good job with all the precautions to stop the spread and I felt safe while dining out. I hope to be back soon! read more

I liked the airiness of the restaurant and the vibe was nice as well. There seemed to be a lot of hipsters working and hanging out before and after work. That was fine, I consider myself pretty hip as well. There were sum really tasty items on the menu. The wedge salad had lot more flavor than the average and a bit of spice. I loved the brininess of the cucumbers as well as their take on hash browns in the neck bone gravy. The pork belly was dried out (I thought maybe from being reheated too long on the flat top). Had a wonderful company outing to Sacred Beast. They treated us great and our reservation was perfect. We had a large crowd and everyone got plenty to eat and drink without issue. The menu is quite resourceful, offering a variety for every taste. Great beer and mixed drinks up front, along with apps (go with the covered fries!), and entrees galore. This place had a great vibe. The music is from a reel to reel tape and piped through the restaurant with tight acoustics. It's nice to be in a full restaurant in OTR where you don't have to shout. As for food, we started with the Matzah Ball soup. We knew if they have Matzah Ball soup, it had better be good... and it didn't disappoint. Very well seasoned broth and a generous Matzah ball (could have used a tiny bit more salt). We then went for the classic burger and fries. Again, excellent. The fries came out hot with a mornay sauce that was perfect. The burger was seasoned to perfection and had some sort of pickle/sauce topper that was outstanding. With generous seating capacity and a nice outdoor seating area sacred and delicious beast is another great OTR addition. ***just had their chicken schnitzel! Been here twice in a couple weeks, and first time we started scarfing the food right away before I remembered to take some pictures. So this time, I held my fork and got a few shot before digging in. The menu is a classic "keep it simple and do it perfectly". Ricotta pancakes are a must, and you can get them alone or with the diner breakfast. No matter what, get 'em! A coworker and I stopped by on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch to try the newest restaurant in the neighborhood. We sat outside on the side patio as it was a nice day, but a bit windy, my menu almost flew away a few times. Our waiter was friendly, gave us time to review the menu, answered questions we had, coworker went with the omelette and I went with the steak tartare and frites. Our food arrived quickly as the restaurant wasn't that busy. The omelette was huge, my coworker had plenty left over and my dish was okay, the steak tartare was cut up in little pieces, but I've had better. Their motto is Simple Food. Taken Seriously. Yes it is simple, but was okay, nothing special, and for a diner would have liked more options, how about a club or a wrap, sometimes you need a good sandwich with fries. My overall experience at Sacred Beast was not great. I had high expectations going in, but the high prices, food, and service kind of let me down. Sacred Beast is an "upscale diner" that's open late, which was definitely needed in OTR because the neighborhood surprisingly doesn't have that many late night options. I came here for brunch on Sunday around 12:30pm and had no trouble finding a table for two (that might be because this place is still so new that it hasn't been discovered yet). The inside is modern industrial, with concrete floors, exposed ductwork, and warm leather couches. It's also much larger than a usual OTR restaurant, and they have a small outdoor patio as well. We were starving, so we ended up ordering what I thought would be a lot of food for two people (spoiler alert: it wasn't). We got the chilaquiles ($13, these are vegetarian FYI, I had to ask because it wasn't clear on the menu), salt roasted beets ($10), french fries ($4), and the maple glazed pork belly ($6.50). Service was slow. It took a while for our server to even acknowledge us once we were sat down, then another few minutes to get our first drink, then almost 30 minutes to get our food. The table next to us that sat down after us got their food before us (and left before us). The highlight of the food was the pork belly which was delicious. The fat was beautifully rendered, and it melted in your mouth. The beets were ok, but they were simple (beets, pistachios, goat cheese sauce, tarragon...I felt like I could have made this myself) and a very small portion for $10. I don't know if this was meant to be an appetizer, but that wasn't clear from the menu or the price. The chilaquiles were very large and the sauces were great, but they were cool when they were served to us. Once you sauce tortilla chips you have to serve them immediately or they become rubbery. The fries were under seasoned, and I didn't even finish them. You guys, I left fries on my plate. I am pretty sure I have never done that...ever. We didn't finish the chilaquiles either. Drinks were expensive. Rhinegeist Truth on tap was $7, Miller High Life on tap, $4. Overall prices were about 20% more than I thought they should have been, and the overall experience didn't seem worth it to me. I also find the menu unnecessarily confusing, and I wouldn't call Sacred Beast a "diner". I think the restaurant has a lot of potential though, so I hope maybe my experience was just because they're only a few weeks old. read more

Hip, delicious, and trendy. This place opened a month ago and is a great addition to OTR. Inspired by Au Cheval in Chicago which reigns as the best burger in the nation, Sacred Beast does a good job living up to their inspiration. The vibe is cool, the drinks are creative and tasty, and the food ranges from edgy flavor combos, like shrimp fries, to juicy burgers with a pork belly and egg on top. Overall this is a cool spot to check out. The best part of my meal was the Convington Iced Tea - they add a hint of cold brew which was a wonderful surprise when I took a sip. The coffee note was a great burst of flavor but not overwhelming. I loved it! Definitely worth checking out! Don't be fooled, even though they have the word "Diner" in their name and are open late, this isn't your typical diner. We both got the burger (we were hungry ok...) and did not make a mistake on our decision! Even thought it was dinner, I got the Bloody Mary to try it out, and it was AWESOME! Perfect combination of spicy and flavor - not to mention, their 'well' liquor is Absolute... so you could say it was pretty good. I don't think I would have noticed it at first until someone pointed it out to me, but after I read that I could definitely feel it! The menu is interesting, to put it best. I would ask your waiter or consult Yelp before selecting an item. Can be difficult if you are vegetarian/vegan, but they do have a few options. My friend got the Korean fried chicken and I got the shrimp fries - both we're great! They are known for their cocktails, as well. Our waiter was SUPER friendly and sat us down quickly (but, since this is located in OTR, it can get busy quickly). I would recommend banking wait time.
