My property management company uses this abysmal service, who do things like tape open your building's outer doors so they (and anyone else who happens to walk by) can enter and leave as they please, prop the garage door open so you can't actually use it to drive your car into your garage, turn your water off without warning, etc. They left their ladders and garbage sitting in my assigned parking space while working, and when I got out to move it, their illustrious company representative decided to address me as "HEY STUPID!" in order to get my attention. Then he shouted at me for a few minutes about how stupid I am, and then ran off to tattle to the property manager about it. He personally showed me his name tag and DARED me to post a review, but Yelp won't let me add his name. When I left a review to this effect at the time, the company contacted me personally to try to coerce me into removing it! When that didn't work, they tattled to yelp about it and had them take it down. These scam artists can ABSOLUTELY NOT be trusted with access to your home! read more

The following is based on my personal experience of being a Home Owner that pays HOA dues that paid for SGS services. This is not the smell good plumber or the good deed plumber. The 2.5 stars on Yelp should have told us something, but I had absolutely nothing to do with hiring SGS. A woman who lives in the building was so incredibly stupid she was flushing massive amounts of Wet Wipes down the toilet. As Ron White states, "Can't Fix Stupid." Sewage back flowed due to the clog, I was told over 15 plumbers were called and the only one available on a Sunday afternoon was SGS, That alone should tell you something. The job dragged on for over month as a section of our sewer line from the building to the city sewer line had to be replaced. Our toilets, sinks, showers and dish washers were all shut down for a month. A friend who owns several apartment buildings in Santa Monica saw no reason the job shouldn't have been completed in less than two week. I worked for a contractor the summer after I graduated High School. One of the hard fast rules he made sure everyone knew their first day was: "Never, Ever Use a Customers Tools for any reason." This is not a rule SGS follows. The first two days they were on site, they used our hoses and brooms. The hoses were neatly stored on a hose stand. Once SGS employees were done with them, they did not clean them up or put them away properly, the hoses were just dropped on the ground by the hose stand in a big pile. Then to make things worse SGS left a hose completely covered with God Knows What? SGS was working on a sewer line, the hose had to be thrown out, I was not going to attempt to clean up the hose it was disgusting. They left mud in the laundry room, behind the building, dirt in my garage as well as the mess left behind in the alley. SGS installed a water heater in the laundry room, it is a tight fit, but previous plumbers have made it work. My water heater is connected with copper pipe that come straight out of the wall perpendicular at 90 degrees, No flex tubing. I clearly have labeled in three locations on the water heater, DO NOT MOVE. As well as I spoke to both SGS plumbers and politely told them my water heater was connected with copper pipes and please do not move my water heater, they agreed. They were not truthful. The copper pipes that connect my water heater are now BENT to one side, The spot on the floor that I marked with a Sharpie was no longer at the base of the water heater as well as all the dust was removed from the water heater where they man handled the water heater to move it, Keep in mind, this a 55 gallon water heater full of water. They had absolutely no care for my water heater as long as they completed their job by any means possible. Personally, I would go to school and become a certified plumber before I would hire this contractor again. HAVE QUESTIONS? SEE PHOTOGRAPHS. read more

Knowing that it would take 3-4 days to replace the faulty gas line, SGS promptly brought over an electric water heater so that we could at least have some hot water (we have two infants in the house, so that was much appreciated). They never showed up, so I called and they flippantly said the guy called in sick and that I would need to wait another week. Beware of this SGS Plumbing & Retrofitting. Their contracts are written in violation of Business and Professions Code Section 7071.17. I hired them in May of 2020 to replace my gas line and they failed to reconnect my gas line my furnace. In additional, they were to install only 1" piping but used instead 3/4" pipe underneath the property, extending out then connecting to 1" pipe on the exterior stucco wall. Once the breach was discovered, Fabian Padilla, Sr. claimed no responsibility because he never agreed to connect the heater to the main gas line in the original contract. I had not discovered the bait and switch in sizes of the gas line pipes yet. After filing a claim with the Contractors State License Board, his answer for not reconnect the heater was the Change of Work order superseded the original contract. The State Licensing Board found SGS's contracts in violation of the above mentioned Business and Professions Code. SGS would not settled the case. I have a claim now pending with their Bonding Company, American Contractors Indemnity Company, for damages. I filed a Small Claims Case against SGS which is on calendar for May 4, 2021. I paid another company to install a gas line to reconnect my heater to the main gas line. That's when I discovered the second breach to the contract. SGS dishonestly installed 3/4" gas pipe underneath my property when we have a written contract for 60 - 100 feet of 1" gas line to be installed. Like many of the other reviewers, the customer service was unacceptable. SGS seldom returned calls and the one time I spoke with Fabian Sr., he was yelling at me. Not professional. read more

I live in Mar Vista and asked to gas. co to turn on a furnace pilot light. They found a leak and turned my gas off (no heat, no hot water, no cooking/baking) until the leak was found and fixed. Fabian and David Molina stepped in and worked hard, very hard, for a few days in a row, digging trenches and laying new gas pipe after finding two large leaks. If it weren't for the team at Safe Gas, I would have lived with "unsafe gas" especially the large gas volatile hole under my house. I appreciate the hustle to get my gas back on before the holiday. I had to follow up several times and was eventually able to talk to someone else who promised to get back to me with a quote. Unfortunately, it never happened. I called Fabian at 6:30pm for a gas leak to the water heater at a condo in Marina del Rey. The gas company found the leak and shut off the gas. No hot water for the tenants in our building. He sent a guy out there within an hour to fix the pipe. Based on experience, I feel that other companies may have tried to take advantage of the situation and charge more by saying we needed to replace the pipe altogether but Fabian assured us it could be repaired. Honest, great work ethic, quick response time, and very reasonable price. I will most definitely use Fabian's company again in the future, especially when I'm in a pinch. We contacted them to install an earthquake valve on our gas line, they came and did a great job, the person who came by was very kind and explained how to use it. I asked if a permit was needed and he said no. A week after they installed it, I find out that a permit WAS needed in our city so I emailed them to ask about why they didn't tell me this and to help with the permitting after the fact. It was very hard to get anyone to respond, it took weeks, and I told them I was pregnant and about to give birth on x date, then they come back to me asking to fill out paperwork the DAY I give birth! I fill it out and send back to them that day, then weeks go by without news. I ask them 3 weeks later if there is an update and they asked me to resend the paperwork!!!!! What?! I hustled the day I was being induced to get the paperwork to them and they misplaced it? They said they would submit for permitting, but that due to covid there are delays...that's understandable, but it had already been 2 months since they installed it. Now 3 months later, a total of 5 months has gone by and still no permit and IMPOSSIBLE to get a reply from them via email. I've sent multiple emails to their generic email and to Anne...but not response. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL to not know whether permits are required in certain cities, and very UNPROFESSIONAL to not respond to my emails and let so much time go by! I'm very disappointed, I should've used a different provider. read more
