I'm always on the lookout for reliable, competent, honest service providers and try to support local businesses when possible. Unfortunately, my experience with GR Plumbing was disappointing. My tenants contacted GR Plumbing to address a clogged drain, but contacted me to share that the garbage disposal was also broken and needed to be replaced. I spoke with the repair technician and authorized the replacement, very specifically requesting an Insinkerator unit that was equivalent or better than the Insinkerator unit being replaced. He quoted $150 for installation labor and cost of disposal unit that he'd pick up at the local Home Depot. It was almost 8pm and he said he would pick up the new disposal unit and be back to complete the job that night. I was skeptical about this promise, and sure enough he never showed. My tenants have two children so I wondered if the work would be completed without being too disruptive, never mind having a contractor in the house late at night. The tenants contacted him around 10pm to ask if he was still coming back, he claimed to have locked himself out of his van at the parking lot at Home Depot and would need to reschedule for the following say. We expected some kind of excuse but even if it was true that he locked himself out the professional and courteous act would be to contact the customers with an update. Installation was apparently scheduled for the following evening, I received a call close to 7:20pm to confirm that the new garbage disposal was installed. Despite my specific request to purchase an Insinkerator unit, the repairman bought/installed a Moen unit. There wasn't much to be done since it was already installed, but now I have a disposal brand I didn't even want. The repair guy claimed it was the only model/brand in stock, but a quick online inventory search disproved that statement as several Insinkerator models were in stock. I requested a receipt for reimbursement and warranty purposes and he claimed to have lost the receipt as well. He initially tried to suggest the Moen disposal was a $200-250 model with superior sound installation, but the picture of the unit/model# that my tenant sent confirmed it was the basic and loud $129 model. Is it unreasonable to expect a repairman to let customers know when they're not going to show up? Or if they arbitrarily decide to buy a different product from what was explicitly requested? That explanations/excuses provided are fact based? Overall, a costly lesson for a vendor I would definitely not recommend or use again. read more

As hoa board its very hard to find plumber that works with hoa but i was lucky to find GR PLUMBING i gave them a call and they came and saw the problem in our pipes and answered all our questions and addressed our concerns plus they was the best quote that we got. we had many jobs done at once like pipe work and descaling and sump-water pump replacement and some cement work they did the job very fast and I'm glad that I worked with them very professional plumbing company. Not only that, they gave me a quote on the spot and it was about half of what another company said I would need to pay to fix the problem. They came out the day after to get started on the job and they immediately found not only the problem itself, but the cause of the problem. They saved me thousands and thousands of dollars and the whole team was so lovely and nice to work with. (Adrian said I had to say he was the one who did the entire job, and I agreed, so this is all Adrian's work). But seriously, the whole company was fantastic. Shocking experience with Steven. He came out to replace a leaking valve/faucet in a bathtub. After replacing it, the bathtub faucet stuck out well beyond the valve. It turned out he had installed the wrong handle and that it had been switched in the box he'd purchased. Came out the next day and replaced that. Charged $600 and the leak continued. It was a struggle to get him back as he wouldn't respond to texts. Eventually, after catching him on a phone call, he agreed to come and look at it. Came by next day and said he fixed the leak. Left. And the leak not only continued, but intensified. Again, he agreed to come back, did so and said it was fixed. And the leak continued and again intensified. At this point he no longer answered any of my calls or texts. I had to pay another plumber to completely remove the valve and reinstall it correctly. That cost me $420. So total spend $1020 and the valve replacement took approx. two weeks. And leaked continually for those two weeks. Please do yourself a favor and stay as far away from these guys as possible... Once he was paid he lost interest in fixing the issue. They simply do not care about their work. Or the customer. read more

Art confidently said he was coming "between 9-11am" the next day. He never showed up. If you dig into the reviews (not using the default Yelp sort) you'll discover this is a pattern with him. About 15-20% of reviewers have pointed this out. I don't think anyone has ever explained to this guy that other people's time is valuable too. (Yes, I get that things happen, but it's 2018. Don't manage your calendar by text. Use your phone if you're late or need to cancel. Don't accept business that you cannot handle. This is what adults do.) Anyways, if you're willing to gamble with a morning of your time, give the guy a call. I cannot speak to his competence as a plumber. One other thing I will point out. A large number of the Google reviews for GR Plumbing are created by users who have only ever written one review. Again, with Google Reviews, don't rely on the default sort. A good way to understand this is by Googling a popular restaurant - say "Silver Lake Ramen" - and you will see what a bunch of legit reviews look like. There are virtually no reviewers who've only ever written one review. I also could not find an Angie's List profile for this company. read more

Called to check on costs for Hydro jetting - the person on the other end of the phone repeated it back to me as HydroGenics. I asked again if they have their own trucks and variable pressure for hydro jetting - again she didn't know what it was. I then told her that the word hydro jetting is written on their front page of their website. I asked her if she knew what it was and she said she did not. I would never allow anyone in pipes with a powerful hydrojet that didn't know what the services is called or what it does....yikes! read more

With GR Plumbing you are sure to get top quality work at a very competitive price. They were so friendly and hard working that I was actually sad when the job was completed and they had to leave for their next job . I named them the A Team because their work was so awesome and very professional. The team, led by Gonsalo, included master plumber George along with David and Julio. They worked very hard and very fast. The work they did consisted of putting in a new trenchless main sewer line, replacing all the ancient cast iron pipes under the house and replacing all the other pipes and sewer lines that they determined were in need of replacement. They had to dig a hole 11 feet deep in order to connect the new sewer line to the city sewer line. This was a lot of work but they accomplished this task with ease. When GR Plumbing completes all the work that is in need of repair, you can be assured that all your plumbing problems will be ancient history. When all the work was completed, everything was cleaned up and all the old pipes were hauled away.The job even came with a 25 year warranty on the new sewer line. Can you give a plumber 6 stars? I would if I could. Art Aragon and the guys at GR Plumbing get my nomination for Plumbers of the Century. This is an epic tale -- but one that needs to be told. I was in escrow, selling my 90 year old craftsman house in Mid City. The challenge -- get my sewer line fixed or lose my buyers and start from scratch. The problem -- the buyer's inspector had claimed the repairs would cost over $20,000, and that was a number I simply could not afford. Enter Art and the guys at GR. Art came out to make a bid for the work, along with a number of other sewer contractors. What impressed me about Art was that he took pains to outline the potential problems with the work, never sugar coating things or simplifying them. He refused to smooth talk to get the job -- which was potentially a very big job. Art's bid came in at far less than HALF the estimate that the buyers' plumber had given. When I looked him up and found that GR had an A plus rating with the Better Business Bureau, the deal was locked. Art and his guys commenced the project in a timely fashion, completing a complete sewer line replacement, including about 75 feet of trenchless pipe replacement work, which is a pretty incredible thing to behold. GR Plumbing saved my escrow and let me sell my house without giving away everything in my wallet. The work they did included small jobs around the house as well and everything was done right from top to bottom. I can't recommend these guys more highly and I will sing their praises ever-more. But don't get a big head or anything, Art. I don't want to catch you driving around in an escalade like those scammers that charge 200% mark-ups. :) read more

Our kitchen sink backed up and we chose GR Plumbing b/c they quoted the best price and were available to come out within the hour. They quoted between $85-$150, the job ended up being $150 with a $10 discount = $140 (to clear a backed up kitchen sink/laundry sink combo pipe) They couldn't clear the pipe out completely b/c there was remnants from a dead bird in our pipe. poor bird, but.. *yuck I understand that it's not everyday a plumber finds a dead bird stuck in the water pipes of a home so I didn't subtract a star for the job being on the expensive end.. they attempted to clear the pipe multiple times but that bird didn't want to come out fully.. I asked the technician to wear booties if he came into the house, he said ok.. but instead of going to get them, he proceeded to tippy-toe towards the sink and continue his job.. WTF?! (minus one star.. especially considering I just swiffered and vacuumed yesterday). My shoes aren't as dirty as plumber's shoes (for the most part) and I don't wear my shoes in the house.. would've been nice if he respected that tradition of ours (and most other Asians). I just bought a new washer/dryer set and needed to have a drain line installed for the washer along with a vent for the dryer. I scheduled an appointment with Art for the estimate. He called me the day of to let me know he was running a little late which I appreciated. Art earned my business because his quote came in the lowest at $500 (One company called The Best Plumber I Ever Had quoted $2700!!! LOL!) and he seemed the least flakey out of everyone I talked to. If he didn't pick up his phone, he would promptly return voicemails. On the day that the job was scheduled, Art and his brother showed up on time, but they unfortunately realized neither of them could fit into my crawlspace to get underneath my house. No problem! They called up one of their pint-sized homies to come help and he was there within minutes! They finished the job in 3 hours. I wasn't even late to work! They put in a cleanout for the drain which I didn't ask for, but was not charged extra for. They also noticed that the kitchen sink pipe was leaking and fixed that as well for no additional charge. I got a very good vibe from these guys. They were all very polite, friendly and straightforward. They thoroughly explained what they were going to do and answered the many questions I had with confidence. They stood by their initial quote and never mislead or confused me in any way. Here goes: The Good: They were on time within the time frame they stated they would be at the residence. They were not only friendly but seemed knowledgeable. The Bad: The quote was outrageous! The quote was $900+ and said that a wall would have to be broken down in the process to get access to the pipes to get an accurate picture. Wow! But wait it here it comes... If you need a plumber, definitely use these guys. Their work is incredible, neat, very conscientious and FAST. We had the unfortunate need to replace a sewer pipe from the house to the street. I started calling to get bids on replacing it. These guys not only quoted us a few grand less, they were able to complete the work WITHOUT a messy yard trench, in ONE DAY versus the week I was told by the other companies. You can't even tell they were here. I've since called them for a couple of small fixes. They fix it in the blink of an eye. They are so nice and cool and you don't hesitate to call them with emergencies or small jobs. I have their card pinned to the fridge and have Gonzalo on my speed dial. I hope to never need a plumber again, but if there's a need for it, I will hire them and no one else. I can recommend them with NO HESITATION. Definitely call them for great work. read more

I called yesterday to request a quote and set up an appointment for my broken toilet (I don't know what goes on back there but something was loose or needed to be replaced. Nothing serious though like overflowing) So I called and thankfully Gonzalo said he could be there the next morning! He came 10 minutes early, assessed the problem within 2 seconds of looking at it and it was fixed and he was out the door in 10 minutes. Not sure if all experiences are like this but I think whatever was wrong with my toilet was pretty common. He was there no more than 10 minutes and billed me for $110 - I think the part might have been expensive as some have mentioned below? It seemed a bit steep to me but I suppose I paid him for his expertise to fix it quickly so I'm fine with the steep price as long as he is in and out - which he was. I had a pretty bad leak coming from my bathtub faucet. I called GR early in the morning and they said they'd have a plumber call be back shortly. I received a call from Art who was able to come out the next day (my calendar, not his). He was on time and friendly, and knew his stuff. I needed to replace the entire faucet system and valves and he called back with a quote later that day. The quote was much higher that I expected ($310), but I needed the problem solved quickly. The high price was due to their mark up on the fixture. My suggestion would be to buy your own fixtures if they need replacing. That would save you a bundle. $310 for a job that really took about 20 minutes was a little over the top. That being said, I would call them again because of their strong customer service. read more

Art did a good job on a routine but fairly large job; he installed a new garbage disposal, replaced 20' of pipe under the house, added a drip valve to the tankless hot water heater and descaled it. They wrapped up all their work in three hours, they were courteous and they took time to explain plumbing issues. It did take my persistence to get them here, but that seems par for the course. I couldn't get one highly-rated plumber to return my call and another wanted to charge $285 for an assessment. Really? Overall, I'd recommend Art to anyone. read more

This company totally overcharged me. I called GR on a rec when my sewer line got clogged. They kept saying they needed to dig more and then they ended up digging up about half my driveway to clear tree roots from the pipes. I feel like they dug too many holes because they did not really know where the clog was. I'm not sure how three days of labor with 2 to 3 max guys working ended up at $27,000. They kept saying that it was because they needed some special equipment (that I never saw). Most of the labor was manual (breaking concrete and digging the holes) and it was done by day laborers. I have a feeling I was ripped off. read more

We have had two great experiences with Art Aragon of GR Plumbing & Rooter. The first plumber our landlord consulted gave him some BS story about sewage smell inside the home being due to the extreme heat this summer and that nothing could be done about it. Art came to the house and was able to explain exactly what the problem was in detail to me and my landlord. (It was in fact, a very big problem!) He was courteous, thorough, and very honest. He did not rush the process, and he even offered to come have a look afterwards if the landlord decided to have the other plumber make the repairs. My landlord decided to hire Art to do the job, and he came back the next day and it was all done in three hours. Art is very knowledgable and straight forward.
