Well they are the only glass place around....that I know of. Customer service is out sourced and they order based on the VIN. This led to corporate ordering the wrong piece of glass! Probably only reason for 3 stars. Value is good and yes they will come to you. It is a National brand and they have a ton of commercials and a catchy jingle. read more

Service took a little over an hour, which was great. The techs were all friendly and the work was great. They remove all of the items stuck to your glass (dashcam, registration/inspection stickers, rear-view mirror) and put it all on your new window. I honestly do not see what the negative commenters see that is so world ending in this business. I had a tree go through my windshield on the night of Thanksgiving and I was able to schedule an appointment for the morning after. I dropped my car off at 11 and it was done by 4. Absolutely beautiful new windshield with all of the glass vacuumed and cleaned up as well. They were extremely nice and very approachable. Also did not try to sell me on any add-ons or try to rip me off, which I always consider a plus. My apologies to those who have said that they didn't have a good experience with Safelite, because I only have nice things to say. My wife and I were driving back to Bangor, when the rearview mirror became detached. Realizing that Safelite, when repairing windshields, had to reattach the rearview mirror, they were my first stop. With no guarantee, they were courteous, pleasant and professional. The rearview mirror is attached, and I am a happy customer. read more

Horrible. Rude. We called to make a correction on our mistake, told them the wrong side on the vehicle. Forwarded around to different reps, and then they hung up. Did not answer questions. I took a rock hit that cracked my windshield and of course the crack spread into the driver's field of view, requiring a replacement. I was disappointed to learn that my auto insurance (Liberty Mutual) doesn't cover glass replacement, but Safelite's cost (~$330) seemed fairly reasonable. I made an appointment, which was later canceled by Tom due to family health issues. These things happen. I rescheduled with Tom for a few days later. My appointment went perfectly. Tom was ready to service our car, did so within the time specified, and we had a nice waiting room for as long as it took. In addition, Tom had coffee and snacks for us, and was unfailingly professional, thoughtful, and courteous. Who is used to THAT kind of treatment among auto repair shops?! I will definitely go back to Safelite in Bangor, ME for any future need, at least as long as Tom is there! read more

As happens so often in Maine, my windshield fell victim to a rock kicked up by another vehicle. Called Safelite and arranged for a technician to come to my home on Saturday to see if it could be repaired. My mom also needed a chip in her windshield repaired. The Safelite office in Bangor coordinated with the technician, Adam, for him to come out and take care of both of us. Communication between Adam and my mom and I was very good. We were originally scheduled for the afternoon, but Adam called us to see if he could come first thing in the morning and we were more than happy to be able to do that. Adam arrived right when he said he would. He explained the process after inspecting our vehicles and then he got right to work. He was polite, knowledgeable, and efficient. I was supposed to get my windshield fixed the 25th of September but they called me in the morning stating that the windshield they received was damaged. That's fine accidents happen but I wasn't going to accept a scratched windshield so we rescheduled for the following Friday. On Friday I get another call saying that they ordered the wrong windshield and that I had had many options of windshields to choose from and they chose wrong. That's not an acceptable excuse. I called another glass repair shop who will be fixing my windshield and they informed me that with my Vin number there is only one windshield for my vehicle not multiple. Safelite also never informed me in order to recalibrate the windshield the vehicle needs to be almost empty of items and the gas tank filled to a certain amount. I'm sure I would have ended up with more problems than just the wrong windshield had I stuck with Safelite. Can definitely say I won't be using them in the future. read more

I requested service to replace my windshield on July 3, 2017 with a service date of July 8. They call me the 8th to say they need to reschedule because my windshield hasn't come in yet. I rescheduled to today, July 11. They show up and tell me they ordered the wrong windshield!!! Really????? I gave ALL vehicle information including the VIN number!!!! Get your act together! I have used Safelite for years on many vehicles, mosty windshields but there was also a couple side windows as well. They do good work, price is a drawback though. I needed a windshield in my Subaru in December 2014, I called to get a price "out the door" with all items added in. Was quoted $277.00, told them it was too high and I'd be calling other installers in the area. The guy told me to hang on a second, then came back on the line and said he could do $246.00. I told him to schedule it. When my wife came home with the receipt it was for $277. I called Safelite and they said they would review the recorded call and get back to me. Hasn't happened and its been a couple weeks. GUESS WHAT, I will never be back to Safelite ever. It isn't the money necessarily BUT the principle. I was quoted $246 and charged $30 more. I'll do business locally, I'd rather support local than send my $$ out of state. read more

Had three appointments that kept getting canceled because of rain. Totally understandable. A guy even showed up at the end of one day but it started misting and he could not do it. He wished he brought a canopy! Everyone already went home so he could not get one. ? Then they scheduled me a in shop appt when I said I could not come to Bangor a 2 hour round trip drive as I was working. On day 10,a nice sunny day I called at 7am to ask that they please come do my window today as my son had a drivers test in my car the next day. They said their schedule was full. I said I should be on the top of the list after getting bumped so many times but no I guess you go to the bottom of the wait list! I begged them to come even called my insurance company and they called them but no they did not care.My son could not take his drivers test .Uncaring customer service! My insurance had set up this service as this is their prefered vendor but I made a local appt like I should have in the first place! Local was cheaper too! read more

I recently had a windshield shatter from the cold after a rock hit it. They quickly replaced the windshield, and it looks great. They vacuumed the car floor after too, which was great. I wish they had wiped down the dash and console first, though, because they were covered with shards of tiny black stuff. read more
