Good and quick service. They had to reschedule my original appointment and they communicated well.

On July 14, 2026, two employees came to my home to provide an estimate for a full-wall gym mirror…read more I expected them to simply take measurements, but they initiated extensive discussions about mirror placement, edge finishes, outlet cutouts, equipment placement, installation requirements, and pricing. That was ok. The appointment began cordially. The employees discussed various mirror options and measured the gym wall. During the visit, the older employee identified gym equipment that might affect installation. He measured one piece of equipment, determined it would not be a problem, and said it could remain where it was. However, when the discussion turned to my leg press, the interaction became increasingly confusing. The employee stated that the leg press would need to be removed from the room. I explained that this was not possible because the machine physically will not fit through the doorway. I suggested moving it to a far corner of the gym and asked if he could measure to determine whether there would be sufficient clearance for installation. Despite having already measured other equipment, he refused to measure the leg press or evaluate the proposed location. Instead, he repeatedly stated that it needed to be removed from the room, even after being told that doing so was physically impossible. What concerned me most was his statement that if installers later arrived and could not maneuver the mirrors around the equipment, they might simply leave the mirrors on my gym floor for me to install myself. I found that response astonishing and completely inconsistent with what I would expect from a professional installation company. At that point, I concluded the project was not going to be a good fit and ended the appointment. The younger employee appeared genuinely surprised, remained courteous throughout the interaction, and even asked if I was sure I wanted to cancel. I explained that I could not justify moving forward when a simple measurement was being refused and when I was being told there was a possibility the mirrors would be left for me to install myself. I later called the Bangor office and spoke with the manager. To his credit, he was professional, apologetic, and seemed genuinely surprised by what I described. He specifically told me that Portland Glass would not normally leave mirrors uninstalled in a customer's home, making the employee's earlier statement even more puzzling. More than a week later, I received the quote. It was roughly double what I found to be the average cost for similar mirror installations in Maine. The quote also stated that all gym equipment must be removed from the room prior to installation, despite the fact that one of the machines cannot physically be removed from the room. Overall, the entire experience was bizarre. The issue was never that measurements were taken or that installation requirements were discussed. The issue was that one employee was willing to measure and evaluate some conditions, while inexplicably refusing to measure others, then presenting impossible requirements as though they were the only option, on top of describing contractual terms to me that directly oppose company policy. The professionalism and problem-solving approach I previously experienced from the Portland office was night and day compared to my experience with the Bangor office.

Do NOT Trust Bernache Autobody…read more I honestly don't even know where to start with how bad my experience was with Bernache Autobody. It's been almost six months since I took my truck there for repairs after hitting a deer, and I'm still finding issues that they caused. In fact, they've caused more damage to my truck than the deer did! Here's the situation: I hit a deer while driving at 40 mph. The only damage was a dented front bumper and some broken plastic in the grill. I continued driving my truck for weeks after, and then went through my insurance to get it repaired at Bernache. After about three weeks, I finally got my truck back--and it was an absolute disaster. The bumper was crooked, they used zip ties to fasten the wheel wells, the headlight wiring was just hanging underneath the truck, the fog lights were crooked and nonfunctional, and there were missing bolts and nuts throughout the front of the truck. This was not professional work; it looked like a child had put it together. Naturally, I sent the truck back. After another week, I got it back, and the problems only got worse. The headlights were now full of water (they claimed it was because the insurance provided cheap ones) and the daytime running lights were flickering. To top it off, my truck threw an engine code related to the radiator louver--a part they had touched. So, back to the shop it went. ....My truck is relatively new and had been in immaculate condition before the collision. After the third time I got it back, I realized they had replaced several front grill pieces with cheap aftermarket parts, which weren't even damaged in the collision. It felt like they were just trying to cut corners at every turn. Frankly, I feel like they're scamming people. The work they did is subpar at best, and I can't imagine how many other customers have left that shop thinking their vehicles were repaired by professionals, only to find out they were hastily thrown together with zip ties and inferior parts. I would not trust Bernache Autobody with any vehicle. If you care about your car or truck, go somewhere else.

I had to get my car repaired and they kept me in the loop from the start to the finish. They…read moreanswered any questions I had and even helped to return the rental car for me. They were able to put my car into the shop within 24 hours.
