In March 2026 I initiated the process of windshield replacement with Safelite through my insurance company. What followed was months of difficulty, made more challenging because of the dishonesty, gaslighting, and misdirection of Concord employee "Dario." He failed to show up at appointments he made with me, and forged my consent. Safelite charged both me and my insurance company twice, the first charge well before work had been completed, yet they promised no charges would be made until completion. (They reversed the second charge to me, but that the correction needed to be made shows sloppy recordkeeping at the least.) One big roadblock was that Safelite kept ordering the incorrect glass for my vehicle, no matter what evidence I provided (photos, user manuals, etc) and Dario insisted there was no way to change it in "their system." He kept saying I had the wrong VIN. Meanwhile, other entities including the DMV recognize the VIN as matching my car. The mistake was clearly Safelite's. Once the proper glass arrived, Dario blamed "the system" on a difficulty with recalibrating the windshield and told me I would have to take the vehicle elsewhere, but he did not provide the release to my insurance company. Instead, Safelite charged my insurance company for the unsuccessful recalibration and reported the job completed, closing my claim. It took until July 2026 to finally have a working vehicle again. In May (updated in June) I posted a review here on Yelp and other social media channels highlighting the struggles with the not-yet-completed job. My review became the "featured" one here on Yelp for this business. Shortly thereafter, Safelite approached me with a Release Agreement and proposal for a settlement payment to avoid litigation and in exchange for my lifetime silence. I removed my online reviews and signed the Release Agreement. Safelite sent a check, but then they issued a STOP payment. They have refused to send a replacement check, claiming that the money was intended to pay a third party that had worked on my vehicle, despite the Release Agreement saying nothing about payment to a third-party or that such payment was earmarked for repairs to the car. As such, they breached contract, and I no longer have to be silent. Ultimately, my vehicle was fixed. But the ordeal was long and I witnessed falsification of records and other concerns that made me doubt Safelite's integrity. read more

My insurance sent me to Safelite for a cracked driver's side window on my car. The idea is solid: schedule online, they come to your house, done. The problem is everything that happened between scheduling and the actual appointment. I booked online and gave them all my car details. Got confirmation emails and texts, one saying Tuesday, then Wednesday. Someone called from what felt like a personal cell to confirm the time. Fine. Then that same afternoon, a text arrived saying they needed to push the appointment back a week. I called back to find out why, and was told they never had the glass and needed to order it. That information should have been caught when I entered my car details during booking, or at the latest, during that morning call. I cancelled on the spot, called my dealer, and had it fixed two days later. My barber told me almost the exact same story, different customer, same outcome. The person I spoke with was professional and genuinely nice. This is not a people problem. Safelite's scheduling and parts verification process is broken. Terrible - I was given a quote and gave them all of the information that they requested including the VIN # for the vehicle. When the technician arrived, he indicated that he did not bring the proper windshield because the dispatch and logistics team did not spec the proper part. Shocking that the new part cost $350 more than what I was quoted even though all of the information to price it properly was in the hands of Safelite for two weeks prior. Was in a difficult spot with the car being picked up for a cross-country delivery the following day so I had to pay it. In short, extremely disappointed. The Safelite technician Olivia, arrived at the stated time and did a great job replacing the windshield! She also reconnected all of the electronics that are attached to these modern windshields to working order, who knew? Getting an appointment with Safelite for the mobile service (at no additional charge) was a plus, as was the extra $30 for first slot in the schedule! However, the AI system that initially handles Customer Contact has no provisions for either! After several tries to speak to a PERSON and a few transfers, I was able to speak to a scheduling/service manager at the Concord Shop! Safelite, if you are reading this, PLEASE get rid of your current system for scheduling service! It reflects poorly on Safelite! read more

I was scheduled to be there at 7 AM last Saturday. I got two phone calls Friday to remind me that I needed to be there at 7 AM. I was there at 6:50. When the technician arrived, he told me it would take 2 1/2 hours to have the job done. I got a text at 8:40 to tell me that the car was "starting to get started to be worked on". I called to ask about this. They assured me that it was not accurate. They said they would have the technician call me. I got no call. I called back to ask what was the situation with the car and was told it would take two and a half hours and a half to complete. I was told that people hadn't come into work. They said they've "had a busy morning". I explained that I missed my ride to go up to get the car. I asked if they would cover the Uber ride and just now today Tuesday Dario, the assistant manager called to tell me they would not. Stefanie Dario Jacob are all dissemblers they care about nothing. I had a small damage on my windshield from a pebble or something on the freeway back in Dec 2024. It was way up on high, behind the rearview mirror and not in my field of vision so it didn't bother me at all. I filed a claim with my insurance and booked an appointment with Safelite. Turns out that it takes between 3-4 hours to get the windshield replaced for my car and it has to be done onsite. I wanted to get it done but we also had a long road trip coming up, so I decided to keep the damaged windshield in case there were going to be more damages on the windshield on the road trip. So I pushed out the Safelite appointment out one month. Due to life getting busy and my cracked windshield not bothering me, here we are in June and I still have a cracked windshield. Then... I washed my car at home and the crack got bigger - likely due to washing the car with cold water on a hot day! So in June, I kept my appointment with Safelite. I had the 8am appointment but got there late. Yes, I know I sound very reliable. Haha. Michael W was my technician and he was great. I apologize for being late but he was polite about it. There is a texting notification system and that worked great. The waiting area is nice with vending machine, coffee station, chairs and WiFi. I walked over to Costco to kill some time. Shopped for the non-perishables, left the cart in an aisle and went back to pick up the car. My car was done at noon - 3.5 hours which is great! Part of me wonders if it would have been completed under 3.5 hours if I dropped off the car on time at 8am. So pleased with the process! It's been only 2 days but the windshield is great so far. Had a small chip in my windshield, insurance got them to do a repair, they ended up cracking my entire windshield then telling me, sorry, now you have to pay us to install a new windshield. Window kicked in by a vandal. Repair person came to the house. He took the door apart but couldn't figure out what to do to install new window so he called for help. Even with coaching on the phone he could not do it. Another repair person came. Appeared to fix it but then we discovered window would not roll down. Third person came. It appeared to be fixed and yes it worked. Discovered after that the door would not lock anymore. At this point we took the car to the dealer, where service said repair person(s?) had broken, bent, and damaged inside of door under the cover and the lock. I had an appointment at 10am Friday and they called me asking if I wanted to come in earlier, great that's awesome. They had the car done in about 2.5 hours with all the sensors calibrated. The windshield stand blocked most of the sidewalk, to the point where a wheelchair likely couldn't get through and I had to walk on the road instead to get by. I called the toyota dealer in Walnut Creek where I bought the car in 2020 yesterday morning (08/12/2024). They quoted me $1255-$1755, which seemed very expensive. My dad recommended Safelite AutoGlass. Their estimate was cheaper so I scheduled a next day appointment (08/13/2024). My appointment was initially scheduled at 3 pm today but they called this morning asking if I wanted to come earlier. I came a little before 10:30 am and I was helped quickly. Though I was told it would take 1.5 hours to replace the windshield, they actually told me the car was ready an hour later! I ended up paying $731, which was much cheaper than their previous quotes ($1018 and $937) AND the Toyota dealer! The technician and receptionist were friendly. I appreciated and enjoyed the coffee in the waiting room. Although I hope I don't have another crack in the window, I would definitely come back should the need arise as it's a little less than 10 mins from home. We made an appointment for first the time slot today. The windshield replacement was supposed to take three hours and my partner had to be at work afterward. When we got there the glass was not there - they had to have it brought in from Oakland. We Ubered back home and at the 3 hour mark were not able to call to find out the progress of anything. They just have a generic number with a recording. Two Uber rides and five hours later we have an after-market windshield and a $500 co-pay for indifferent service. Another agent checked in with me, informing me it would be 1-2 hours. I asked him 1-2 hours from what time? I reminded him that my appt time was 11am. He informed me that he would get a technician to help me immediately. He took my car around 11:20am and confirmed that I return in 1-1.5 hours. I came back around 1:20pm. He didn't know, he mentioned that he checked it in with a technician. That technician came out telling me that he went to lunch. I told him that my appt time was 11am, came back 2 hours later, did not receive any updates and now I'm finding out it's another 2 hours to work on my car. I let them know that I had an event that evening and asked what is the point of sending text messages for an 11am appt if they will not work on my car at that time? Work on my car started at 2:20pm and was ready close to closing, 5pm. At 2:20pm is the only time I received an update call from a Safelite technician. He mentioned that it would take him longer than usual and he may not get it finished in an hour. The technician also did not clean up all of the glass in the car. Center console still had shares of glass all throughout. Had to pry a compartment door to open and close bc shards of glass was stuck in the track. There were many other people in the waiting room who have been waiting 3+ hours after their appt time. First, it was easy to make an appointment online. You can enter your insurance in advance and have that all sorted before you get there. Now, this is where it went all downhill. This review is based on service I received. I arrive at 8am, they take my keys. Nothing is explained to me. I ask what's happening. They said it could take up to two hours, maybe three. I ask if my windshield is OEM and he explains their windshields are not OEM but better. Then hour 2.5 comes around I come outside to check on my car. They said my car windshield is done but the recalibration technician has to drive my car for 30 minutes up to 70 MPH which requires the freeway. My mind is blown that someone took my car on the freeway for 30 minutes up to 70 MPH, using gas, adding miles. That is ridiculous and unacceptable. Then my car finally is parked. I wait for a while again then someone says - oh they didn't tell you your car is ready. It's been ready. There's hand prints all over the car. Sure my car is dusty but hand prints and just dirty when I got it back. Then I get my car and the windshield was OEM. The quote was $3,780. Of course it should be OEM. I was recently on the freeway when a large, round object flew at the windshield of the SUV I bought new last year, and left a giant gash in the glass, which immediately began to crack and spread in long, irreparable lines. It was unlike anything that's ever happened to me and pretty scary. That terrible experience was followed by a much nicer one though. I reported the claim to Geico and was able to schedule service on a date and time of my choice with SafeLite through my insurance app. On the day of the appointment, the technician called to tell me what time he'd be there and I actually told him I was on my way as well, but running a few minutes behind. I needed to meet at a friend's home since my condo doesn't allow auto repairs on the property. He was very understanding and said he'd give me extra time and I received a text when he was 10 minutes away. I'm sure on the inside it was frustrating since we had a window blocked for the appointment, but he didn't let that show if that was the case, and I appreciated his patience. Before beginning he explained that he'd need two hours at the very most and after installation he'd test drive the vehicle in order to recalibrate the windshield features (moisture detection/automatic wipers, visual stuff, etc.) - he alerted me when everything was complete and he took photos of the car after wiping down each of my windows. It was all incredibly fast and so convenient to not have to leave a location of my choice or wait at a shop somewhere. The service guy was super nice, very friendly, and did a wonderful job. He told me not to wash the car for a couple of days and said everything was ready to begin driving her again. I was very impressed with the service I received and the work done. Excellent value - especially since it seems windshield replacement deductibles have gone down in price on my policy. Here are the facts: May, 2024, Safelite replaces my windshield after errant golf ball shatters it. May, 2025, rear-view mirror falls off. Check my invoice and warranty. Mirror is covered. Call Safelite. Robo agent says my mobile phone number (which I have had for 20+ years and used with Safelite account) not in system. No human agent accessible. "Have a nice day. Bye." Wash, rinse, repeat with same result. Go online to Safelite warranty center. No record of my account. Text and vm Safelite tech who replaced windshield. No response. Go to Concord Safelite store. No record of my phone, but after seeing my paper invoice they are able to access my account. Agent confirms windshield and mirror are under warranty. Tech says mirror can't be reattached so new windshield required. Set up appointment for next day between 1-5 p.m. at my apartment. On day of tech calls saying he can't get past security gate. Why? Forgot his driver's license. Must reschedule. On day of reschedule, tech calls saying we have to reschedule again due to "a mishap" with parts. Reschedule. Third appointment canceled by Safelite via email. No reason given. Fourth appointment scheduled. Tech calls saying she is on the way and has her driver's license. Happy, happy, joy, joy. Tech shows up and replaces windshield and rear-view mirror. I say, "Maybe the best man for the job is a woman." Conclusion: Safelite please spend less on happy talk TV commercials with spritely jingles and more on fixing your broken automated-response system and customer-service team. Have a nice day. I had a great experience with these folks. They came out to replace a front passenger window on my car. It didn't seem right so they ordered different glass and came back to install. They figured out that the regulator wasn't working right so ordered that for me. Finally they came back and installed the new regulator and new glass. They kept at it till it was right. Refreshing! Had my windshield replaced on my Jeep wrangler. I have a light bar and pods so I stopped by the center to ask what to do about that. They told me they recommend I take it off. Decided to have them come to my house to replace glass so that I could put the light bar and pods back on right away. We had David come and do the service. He called about an hour before coming and completed the service in under 30 minutes. Well worth the extra money to have them come to your house. They reason why I stopped by to ask about my light bar is because they don't have a phone operator. So any questions you have you'll have to use the online chat or go in person.
