I had a 9am appointment I showed up ten minutes early and I went inside to see if I could wait or if I needed to get a Uber home. The waiting area was pretty big and had ten chairs to sit and wait and a small tv closer to the service window. The staff is super nice especially the service lady. She right away lets you know the cost and how much you owe and your payment is needed at that moment. She was very professional and super nice. The two guys in the shop doing the service to the windshield were very nice and clean. They kept me informed of what's happening and what they were doing. They were able to get me an oem windshield for my Volkswagen. They were going to do the service at my house but I needed to get the recalibration done since it has all this new technology. When I booked my appointment it was super easy and they worked with me on times and days. They try to sell there wipers but it not the fault of the person who offers them, it the company that pushes them too and they demand so many it's just like any other shop making the techs and service people to sell you filters and flushes. So I understand and for the people who complain about them offering wipers it's just part of there job because dam if they do and dam if they don't. read more

I Made an appointment to have my Mustang's front windshield replaced through Safelite. They are an Allstate preferred provider. I got a ride and dropped off my vehicle. An hour later I was told that they couldn't get my windshield and to pick-up my vehicle. Safelite said there was an "error" in their system. No help on finding another vendor or shop. Wasted several hours of my day. Very unprofessional and did not care about my future business! If they couldn't get the correct windshield, they should help find a vendor who could! I had my windshield replaced at home, with an appointment scheduled for 12-5 PM on August 16, 2024. Expecting service anytime within a five-hour window is unreasonable, especially when you're left waiting without a clear update. When I called before the appointment to get an estimated arrival time, I was met with an automated message confirming the 12-5 PM window. At 3:14 PM, my technician Garry called to say he'd arrive at 4:30 PM. When I called him at 4:40 PM for an update, he said he should be there by 5 PM. However, there was no follow-up call to inform me of further delays, and Garry didn't arrive until 5:35 PM, with no apology for being late. Most services, like cable or electric companies, provide a two-hour window for appointments. Expecting customers to wait for five hours and only offering automated responses is poor service. Safelite should shorten their waiting times, provide direct communication with a representative, and train their employees better in customer service. Due to this experience, I will look to another company for future service needs. read more

Was originally scheduled for 12/28 when the technician showed up he said he couldn't do it because it was too cold, thought they did it in rain or mild snow no issue? Rescheduled for today 1/11 just for them to tell me the back glass they got in was defective, gave me an automatic new date for 1/13 when I called the assistant was extremely rude an ignorant to the subject and refused to help me reschedule, the next guy helped me to reschedule after I had to call back 10 times. I already spent nearly $500 for my back glass I shouldn't have to wait a whole month to finally get my car window replaced, at this point I should've went to the junk yard and replaced it myself. read more

Safelite Elgin, Mclean Blvd just put a new windshield in my Toyota 4Runner. My service tech was Ubaldo, a very knowledgeable and polite young man. Donna did a very good job at the front desk and on the phone. Nice clean waiting room with clean bathroom. it took about an hour and a half. It looks great and seems fine. One thing I learned is that I will seek a touchless car wash in future because I noticed that my wipers, which were removed for window install and reattached are now down seated where they should be. Obviously the car wash roller wash pushing them up. So I'm happy, as long as the window holds up ok. It seems to be the exact same window I had before with the built in shading around the mirror location. Good place to know about. I set up my appointment online with no trouble. I had a not so good experience with Naperville Safelite location. Basically was given 4 hour window only for that window to come and go. I had to reach out to the company alot of calling and waiting for a call back. Only for the manager to call and say that nobody was coming. My windshield was cracked during route and nobody let me know. Unprofessional right. BUT they rescheduled another service a week later. Let me tell you my tech Jose was AMAZING! He was in time, friendly and did not mind me watching. After a not too experience the first round Jose made it all better! I definitely recommend Safelite Elgin location! Yet another horrible experience from Safelite in Elgin. We are a national account who does a huge amount of business with Safelite. Had an appointment scheduled to have a couple stone chips repaired in two of our vehicles. Luis the tech arrived and right off the bat tries to upsell a new windshield versus repair of the existing one. HE HAD NOT EVEN LOOKED AT THE WINDSHIELDS IN QUESTION BEFORE MAKING THAT ASSESSMENT! I know better and told him that I just wanted the stone chips repaired. He then claimed he needed to get his supervisor on the phone, all while he was sitting out in his truck eating his Dunkin Donuts. At that point, I had enough and told him I would have to call corporate to discuss why we couldn't get the services we ordered. He then drove off, which was probably the best part of the whole experience. Calling corporate, we got rescheduled with the Lake in the Hills location which has always sent out absolutely stellar 5-star technicians to do our windshields. Nothing wrong with Safelite, but if you need service, STAY AWAY from the Elgin location at all costs. Nothing but trouble and not worth your time or the associated hassles. read more

Safelite in Elgin, IL replaced my damaged windshield but the technician, Sheikhaseeb, did not install a portion of the cowling that deflects rainwater. After repeated requests to complete the work Safelite is completely unresponsive. My insurer recommended Safelite so I will suggest they do not do this in the future, and also suggest that people who need this work look elsewhere. read more

We've used them anytime we've had a chipped or cracked windshield for the past decade. Always very courteous with reasonable rates. When you make an appointment you get an initial 4-hour appointment window & then they text when the tech is on his way to your location along with a photo of the tech who will be coming for the service. Nice! The text also has a link to their tracking page so you can see exactly where the tech is on his way to your location. We've never had bad service from them with chip repairs & windshield replacement & when they do a simple chip fill you can't even tell where it was when they are done. read more

Needed a rear windshield on F150. Made appt through national call center. Day of appt local store called saying they couldn't do the install on site and that the glass that had arrived had a defect in it, and I'd have to come in for the repair. We rescheduled for several days of rain later and I had to sit in the office for 3.5 hours while they "worked" on the vehicle. There was a window into the shop and I was the only vehicle in there with at least 2 employees back there. I rarely saw them on or in the truck and have No Idea what took them so long. They never came out with an update. When I went out to inspect the repair I noticed that they didn't bother to sweep the glass out of the back of the truck, and they 'did the best they could' to vacuum the inside (I'm still finding glass). Upon handing me the keys, the guy said something to make me wonder if they knew what they were doing and I asked, "Well, it won't leak will it?" To which he responded "No, it shouldn't, and if it does just bring it back in." Surprise! It leaked like there was no window in place at all. Buckets of water poured in for days until we could get it rescheduled at another location to be fixed properly. I've had a poor experience with what I consider to be a mainstream vehicle, but I'm posting this not just as a warning to others but as a message to the shop owner / business: your customer service is far from what is advertised and I am skeptical of your shop skills. If you like your windshield wipers make sure you take them off your vehicle before going here because they replace them even when you tell them not to. It wouldn't be a big deal, but the new wipers don't work nearly as well as the ones they took. Staff was nice though. read more

The work was fine and completed as promised but I have issues with how they do their on line quotes. If you go through the Yelp website the quote will be at least $50 dollars cheaper than if you access the site via Google or some other method. This is nice for members of the Yelp community but obviously not so nice for everyone else. Also I recommend getting a quote from Gerber Collision and Glass. The quote I got from Gerber was at least $50 cheaper than the quote I got going through Yelp for Safelight. read more

After the installation I noticed a large amount of adhesive and dirt on the interior of the vehicle and the dashboard which has been very difficult to remove. Today I noticed that the seal on the passenger side of the vehicle is not installed the same as the drivers side. read more

Very disappointed in this company. The windshield on my Toyota Prius had cracked. I shopped for the best price but my wife insisted I go to Safelite since they are to be the best. 35 days after having the windshield replaced (had it installed at their location since I figured that would be the best) the rear wiper was on, constantly. It would not turn off, even though the switch was in the off location. Took the car to Toyota for service. 2 hours and $222 later, I was informed the replacement windshield was leaking, causing the wiper circuit to short out and stay on. When I contacted Safelite, they said to bring in the car for inspection. Once they removed the windshield, they said it was not their fault (SURPRISE!). The tech/manager says you would see water marks if there was a leak. I explained that Toyota had to dry that area to resolve the wiper issue. Safelite refused to pay for the wiper repair, even though it was their replacement causing the leak. Until this, there was never a problem! Isn't it amazing how a company that guarantees no leaks or problems has leaks and issues!!! As a sidenote, after they returned the vehicle to me and I drove away, I noticed there were two long strips of tape at the top of the windshield on the left and the right sides. I had to return to Safelite and ask what they were for.The manager said that the technician should have told me to remove those after two hours has passed. Once again, how can you trust a place like this if they cannot get their act together. read more

This company is despicable and unprofessional! When calling them after an accident needing an immediate repair to my back window they assured me they would be out TWO DAYS LATER. They told me they couldn't give an exact time but a window and to just wait for the tech to call. They then repeatedly emailed me my confirmation over and over to where I have a total of 7 emails for them. Finally the day of service comes and a tech calls to say OH, I'm so sorry we don't have your glass. We have to order it, are you available next Thursday or Friday? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! Not only did I just call there leading competitor but they will be out immediately and guess what... I'm saving almost $200. Please beware of this company. They extra charges for everything, they will even offer you a priority time slot for a small fee. There mobile service is an additional fee as well. In fact even after I foolishly agreed to there price, and fees, they still disappoint! Do not use this company. Don't trust them! At 4:35 called about appointment wondering where they are and finally at 4:50 spoke to someone and was told it wasn't even the Elgin office. asking where are they, got sorry, need to re schedule. First was told they never received the work order and was told they got the work order late. nothing but lies. wasted 5 hours of my time waiting for nothing. I will never use Safelite again. The first time they replaced my windshield it was not put in correctly, so they came out again to fix their mistake. After they were finished and left there were two small chips in the windshield. The next morning I called and I had a nice lady on the phone and she told me she was going to schedule and appointment and put me on hold. When the line was answered again a man came on asking me what was going on, did not say his name or who he was. I asked him if he was the one who worked on my windshield yesterday since I didn't know who I was talking to and didn't know I was being transfered, he said no and asked me what Happened. I explained what happened and he went and said well we didn't do it, I asked how did two chips get in the windshield if we didn't drive the car anywhere and they weren't there before . He did not answer my question and said a manager would call me between 11-11:30. ( I did not ask to speak to a manager, they just did not want to explain to me anything.) I ask for them to call my cell and provided it to them. 2 pm rolls around and a family member of mine spoke to them due to the manager calling the wrong number. The manager told them the same thing they told me. When asked if we could bring it In to look at it they said " no it was not done by us so we are not going to deal with it." To who ever is reading this go somewhere else do not bother with these people, they pass you around because they don't want to explain anything to you. Eduardo came to replace my husbands windshield it had a chip that spread so needed replacing. He came in one of hottest days and replaced the Kia windshield . He was honest said there was a scratch on windshield that wasn't told about said wanted to come out next Thursday to replace the glass wasn't done to his satisfaction which I appreciate more than anything honesty is lost on people these days. Do not use Safelite. The safelite repairman broke a sensor on my wind shield and then didn't tell me. He removed the broken part and put it in his tool bag and left. I found out it was broken/missing when I tried to use my wipers in a rain storm several days later. Almost 1 month later and 5 days off of work trying to remedy the situation my sensor has not been replaced. The manager Hugo Sandoval acts like he's forgotten about my request to have it repaired when I call. He also tells me he will call me back but never does. Awful experience. read more

I started out trying to use Safelite, which is right around the corner from my house. I walked in and the man at the desk said "You need a new windshield." He did not even move an inch from his desk. He says "I can see it from here." Then he quotes me a price of $369 before tax and disposal. I said "I was quoted a different price on the price." I was then told I had to booked through the national company, if I want a lower price. So I book through the national company and set an appointment. I show up for the appointment, there is NO ONE THERE, except the customers in the waiting room. I am told by the customers "There is one technician in there working on cars, but the other guys went to lunch." I asked at the car dealership (St. Charles Toyota) about getting my windshield replaced. The service representative said "Try Advantage Auto Glass. They do all of our windshield replacements." To make a long story short: Safelite was going to charge me $336.00 for a new windshield, if I booked the appointment online and $390.00, if I booked the appointment in the store. Advantage Auto glass charged me $264.00. So in the end of the day, I saved $72.00. In fairness, I saved over $100 and my patience. Though Safelite was right around the corner from my house, it was worth it to drive a half an hour for better, quicker service and I paid way less! read more

This review is a bit late, I had a service call back on June 4th, 2015. I had a small chip in my windshield from a small rock. My Ins. recommended Safelite, and I know why...wonderful service. Made the initial calls and they had me set up for the next day. Just like the commercial, I received an e-mail with and approximate e.t.a along with the technician's picture. Kennith K. was awesome, very knowledgeable. After a quick fix, he went on to clean all of my windows. I have recommended them to others already. A+++ all around. read more

Unfortunately for me I had to get my windshield fixed 2x over the past month, but both times I had great experiences (Omar was one of the guys that was so great-can't remember other person's name). The gentlemen that helped me were very informative and took care in even washing my windows! The only negative experience was scheduling my appt. I had talked to Shawn when I had called trying to get same day appt, and he said to call back with my insurance work order# and they would try to accomodate. I called back less than 5 min later, and whoever the female was who answered was really quick in saying "Oh, no. We cannot take you today. We're too busy" and was short on the phone. I called about windshield replacement price. Was given a price of $175 product and installation. I told the gentleman that I wanted to check prices in the area (to make sure I was getting a fair deal..(you know like what a good consumer does?). I called back within 10 or 15 minutes to make an appointment and Jessica told me that the previous gentleman did not record my call AND she gave me a price of $349.99!!!!! TOTAL RIPOFF. I believe this business is unfair and dishonest to consumers who price check!!!! Bad business practice, if you use them BEWARE, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, they might rip you off! Got my windshield done by an in-town competitor for less and was not treated poorly by them. As an aside, I called corporate Safelite customer service and that experience wasn't much better. I was told there was no record of my first quote phone call (there is a recording prior to speaking with a person that all calls are recorded!!!!). I chose this location based upon the proximity to my house. Safelite was recommended via my insurance carrier, Allstate to replace a cracked windshield on my GMC 2012 Acadia. I requested OEM (GM) glass but was denied. Allstate only covered aftermarket glass. My deductible was $50. If I wanted the OEM (GM logo) glass, my out of pocket would have been ~ $350. Glass: The aftermarket glass is manufactured by FUYAO. This is a Chinese company with manufacturing facilities in the Midwest employing US workers. They appear to be a supplier to all the major US auto manufacturers. As an employee of a European company doing business in the US, I had to give them an opportunity. The glass appeared to be the same as the original windshield with the same tint and interior black shade bands that go along the interior perimeter of the windshield. Beside the difference in the logo at the bottom right of the windshield (FUYAO instead of GM), the glass was not beveled along the outside edges to the same degree as the original glass. This leaves sharper corners/edges along the outside of the glass that have a higher chance for allowing cracks to begin. These edges are not typically felt as the glass rests in a shallow recess of the vehicle. Time will tell if this affects the resistance of the glass to crack from rocks, etc. hitting the windshield. Service: Employees were very friendly and appeared happy doing their jobs. Waiting area has good WiFi and a small Keurig was a nice benefit. The new windshield was installed in approximately 1-1/2 hours as originally promised and workmanship appeared very good. Upon leaving the store and driving the vehicle for a couple days, road and wind noise from the passenger side was louder as if a window was slightly open. I contacted the store and they were happy to have me return to look over the vehicle. An appointment was scheduled the next day. They did discover a small gap on the passenger side, didn't make any excuses, and redid the work. After a couple days, road/wind noise appears to be the same as with the original windshield. Overall, very happy with this location and the staff. Would use them again if needed. read more
