I don't know why this company has so many negative reviews. I just had my windshield replaced by them and the whole experience, soup to nuts, was excellent! I called around to check prices with a few local shops, by the quotes were all a bit high. I checked Yelp reviews and I was going to skip over Safelite, but I figured at least I could get a quote. The quote was at least $100 less than the next lowest price. On top of that, I found coupons online for $80 off, which worked. The company does charge an extra $40 recycling fee for the old glass and tax. I went all the way and booked an appointment for a few days out. I received text and email confirmations. The tech called to let me know when he was on the way to my location. He arrived within the appointment time and he performed all of the work to replace a cracked windshield within about an hour and a half, which included rust touchup. The windshield came with a new rubber boarder, which I am grateful, since the old one was worn and frayed. Chris, the tech, was polite, knowledgeable, and skilled. He did everything right! Cleaned up, tightened up everything, checked his work, and cleaned up everything! The service was performed at my location, not in the shop. There are very few companies that go through the great level of service as this fella did. My windshield is shiny and new. I am very pleased! They guarantee everything. read more

I did the wiper blade replacement during the chip repair. They gave me the wrong size wiper blades so there's a huge gap when using them which obstructs driver vision. I had to take my personal time to go to a location to replace the blades. They wouldn't discount anything even though I had to take my time to rectify their mistake. Time = money people! read more

Run, run away as fast as you can from the Hackettstown location. My experience was poor from start to finish. I went in for a small chip repair and left with a giant headache. I do not trust this shop to rectify the situation. I DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP. Another company has agreed to fix their mess, and I have filed complaints with the Chamber of Commerce and the NJ Consumer Protection Agency and with my insurance company Progressive. Today I had an appointment to fix my windshield. It was very easy to schedule the appointment and even easier to reschedule. I really like that I can do things online and via text. The text updates are probably my favorite feature because the client is always informed. Jason, my technician, was VERY helpful and super quick! I thought I would be spending my whole Saturday morning there but he did everything in an hour. He even gave me new tape for my ezpass which I thought was sooo nice!! This small gesture of kindness and customer service really impressed me. Even if I had to stay at the place for a few hours they proceed drinks, coffee and snacks. I went in July of 2023 to have my windshield replaced. Since then I have had to go back eight times because they replaced my windshield with one that was scratched. They broke the cover for the windshield camera and just tried propping it up in place instead of replacing it correctly. And the rain sensor has not worked correctly since the initial job. It is now October and I have had eight visits to their location and they still haven't repaired it correctly. I reached out to Safelight who set me up with a different location. Hopefully the Hasbrook Heights location will give me better results. Because the Hackettstown location just cannot get the job done correctly. I'm still waiting for someone from the corporate office to call me. No one has so far. read more

My car's front windshield was cracked by a falling branch during a thunderstorm. My insurance carrier instructed me to contact Safelite. Four days later a tech arrived at my home to repair the glass. After 15 minutes, and a surly attitude, the tech advised me that he forgot all the parts needed to affect the repair. So after taking off, I had to reschedule and take my vehicle to the Safelite shop. I waited for the vehicle and listened to the manager complain about how busy he was and how the phone would not stop ringing. A very unplesant experience. read more

I had this local Safelite shop come to my house and repair my windshield (small chip) on my 2021 Yukon on January 18th 2023 going thru my insurance company. The technician called and said it might crack during repair but that could be expected. After the repair was done the technician called me back and said it cracked more than expected but it would not spread. The next day the crack spread more than 50% of the windshield from side to side, much more then what I was told might happen. I reached out to Safelite online and a representative called me back a few days later. She apologized and said that someone would reach out to me to discuss this. No one ever reached out or called. On February 16th I called 1-888-238-4527 to follow up and ask why no one has called. I was told a the local shop manager would call on February 17th. No one called me back. On February 23rd I called 1-888-238-4527 and spoke to representative. He told me as the customer I'm responsible for the full amount of a new windshield regardless of how the work was done, even though it spread more then explained. The cost of a new windshield is $945. I told the representative I disagree and that we could come to some resolution where I pay half and safelite pays the other half. He said no, That's not Safelite it's policy. I told him I would take my business elsewhere. I reached out to Roxbury Auto wreckers, the quote for the exact same windshield is $525. I have used them in the past (many times for windshields) and they are exceptional. The only drawback is they do them on site on Thursdays only. Complete waste of time! I scheduled my windshield repair online for a 7:30am to 10:30am time slot and got a quote of $469. A week later I dropped off the car at 7:30am. Then I was told the tech might get to it around 12pm. That was the first red flag. The clueless front desk worker walked out to my car to make sure the windshield they ordered was correct since the car is a 2018. He verified they had the correct window and took the keys. Later that day I get a call at 1pm saying the wrong window was ordered and the correct window will cost well over $1000!!! The appointment was scheduled for over a week and they couldn't get their information correct before I dropped the car off. In fact, they finally figured out what was needed hours after the repair window I signed up for. No type of compensation or resolution was offered for the inconvenience they caused. They definitely need better customer service and technical training for their staff. Also, the website should not allow a current year car to get quoted unless the prices are correct. I shattered the back window as a result of moving a lawn mower, bad idea. I went to Safelite because I used them years ago. I think they might have cost more than someone closer, but they answered the phone while 3 others did not. (Friday, midday) so I didn't have time to play around. They had an opening the next day, Saturday, and I dropped it off. They said it would take maybe an hour and 1/2. As I was pondering how to kill time they said they offered a free uber ride (maybe due to the covid stuff, I dont know) but I took it. That was great, and both trips there and back had to cost them 40 or 50 bucks. The job they did was perfect. There was a lot involved on a back window, which I was glad to have a professional handle. Don't use Safelite The first appointment was a few days after I called. They cancelled that last minute because they were understaffed. The next appointment was smooth week later. They were supposed to cantata my insurance company and get back to me on coverage. They didn't and just told me a week later when they arrived that I could pay 100% of the cost of wait for another appointment. The company is unprofessional & poorly run. I needed my windshield replaced and my car has a pretty expensive one in it as it has the sensor for braking and my auto windshields etc. As soon as I left the parking lot, I wanted to test the recalibration, especially the braking sensor. It did not work. I was almost touching the car in front of me and my car did not break. Funny thing was I got a certificate that stated the recalibration was done and successful. I called the Hackettstown store where I went and unknowingly I got an operator in Ohio, who had to make a warranty appt. for me. I told her I just literally pulled out of lot but could not return. She stated that the recalibration sometimes stops working after done. I questioned that as the braking sensor is one of the safety features and I was told they would take it for a ride and make sure it was working. Then she tells me that there is only a 1 year warranty on the recalibration. I told her that is ridiculous because they are messing with the safety features of the car that made me buy the car and now she is telling me it can stop working at any time and they are only responsible for 1 year. Unbelievable. Now I have to take it back to them next week. Never again will I use them. read more

Jason Duchemin, Lead Technician, is to be avoided. He obviously thinks he is king of his Safelite AutoGlass kingdom. Customer service doesn't apply here. His smug, condescending, disrespectful , and self righteous way about him is the stuff of customer service legend. If my review sounds like I'm probably "that guy" who always has conflict in customer service situations please note that this if my first negative review ever. I believe sometimes we all just have a bad day. This experience was not that. It was a test of patience and tongue biting that still has me shaking my head. I was attempting to "calmly" explain USAA, my bank of 20 years as a military veteran, already created a claim (something they do in five minutes if you have windshield damage.) His response was "it's not in the system." And then he laughed. Yes. Read that again. He laughed because my claim was not showing in his system. A five minute call to USAA (which he never once offered to do even though they partner with Safelite) confirmed it WAS in the system. The USAA rep offered to call the Safelite location in Hackettstown. My wife, who kindly drove to the location so we could have breakfast, recommended I take it to another location since I would have Duchemin nightmares every time a pebble bounces off the windshield. This master of glass hated me two minutes after I approached his "No Windshield for You" reception area that made reminded me of soup on a Seinfeld episode. I made an appointment at a different Safelite. Before I left, I walked into the bay and had a brief conversation with a glass technician to ask for the managers name. This tech had caught the tail end of my Duchemin verbal beat down. This tech was knowledgeable, helpful, and offered to do the repair there. Back to the window of pain in the Duchemin kingdom of glass repair. Duchemin still could not locate my claim. Ok, maybe it's not showing but how about making a call to USAA? Nope. My claim wasn't at HIS location, and he says, "Have a great day at Newton!" My request to speak to his manager was his puffed up declaration "I AM THE MANAGER." I replied that he must work for someone. He said, "call Corporate." That I will definitely do. There is poor customer service and then there are those who just get pleasure having power over others even if it's just the inconvenience of a windshield replacement or repair. Got my windshield replaced at this shop through insurance fully covered by Metlife. Sadly they only offered aftermarket part instead of OEM. I double confirmed with the customer service lady from Safelite that all the specs and functions will be the same as Lexus OEM, only the "Lexus" logo will be missing. However that's absolutely not true. Now with the aftermarket windshield, I can clearly see a distortion near the bottom part of the glass where the windshield is connected to the hood and dash, while when I had the original windshield on such distortion did not exist at all. I wonder how Safelite can say to its customer that aftermarket is exactly the same as OEM only without the logo? Apart from the windshield itself, this Safelite shop in Hacketsttown did good installing it for me. read more

Booked an appointment through my insurance after a rock hit my windshield. I was told a technician would show up on Monday somewhere between 12 and 5 and that the windshield would be repaired as long as the crack was smaller than a dollar bill (which it was). Receive a confirmation moments after booking with insurance. Great. Fast forward to today, Monday, at 1:30pm. I receive a call from Safelite and am told that there is only one technician working, and that my appointment will have to be moved to Tuesday. I am annoyed at this point due to the fact that they took this long to call to reschedule. We set a time frame for Tuesday and hang up. Minutes later I get a confirmation email - however, it is not for Tuesday, but for the same appointment I had today which I was told had to be canceled when I was on the phone with the technician. What? This should have been my cue to cancel the appointment all together. Yet I call back again and try to sort things out with the technician. He tells me that if I show up by 3:30 today I will be able to have my car repaired. I drive all the way out there, show the technician the crack, show him that it is "smaller than a dollar." I am then told I will have to come back at the end of the week because my windshield actually has to be replaced and they don't have it in stock. And, get this- Safelite charges about $40 more than your local auto glass shop would. I have used this company in the past but this was enough for me to never want to bring my business here again. I had a wonderful experience with Satelite, the technician John could not have been nicer, which in the horrible heat we have been having was impressive, lol. My windshield looks great, they cleaned up the glass inside the car and my inspection sticker looks better now than it did from the inspection station! Insurance company, Geico, recommended and arranged new windshield. I was apprehensive as to a Safelite windshield vs. Mercedes factory product. I called Mercedes and they said Safelite is fine as long as the windshield matches the actual auto Vin. When I called Safelite they had the approved purchase order from Geico and had verified the proper part for my car with Mercedes. They were ready at the appointment time and had the car done in under two hours...could not have been easier. Thanks for wasting a day I had to take off from work. I had a window between 8am and 12pm. I get a call from the technician at around 10am telling me that my window is now during the afternoon. I call into the toll free number to see what the issue is. After waiting on hold for 12 minutes, I hung up and called back. It turns out they don't even have the part yet and it won't arrive until mid this afternoon. Yeah, that doesn't work as I've now used a day off from work and I am not available this afternoon. I wound up cancelling any further service from them. Based on other reviews, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. This is clearly not the place to call if you enjoy reliability and good service. Needed a windshield replacement. I called and made an appointment they said it would take less than an hour, when I got here they said it would take 1-1.5 hours. At completion I had been in the shop for two hours. While watching through the overlook window, I saw that it had taken 50 minutes before they even began to remove my windshield from my car. This really annoyed me, I had made an appointment a week in advance and had other things scheduled for that day. The employees were nice and professional, and the shop was clean and comfortable. I wish they would have been upfront with me about the time. I have a small baby and had to have childcare scheduled during this time, which then was prolonged without my knowing beforehand. read more

We have used Safelight several times over the years and have always been pleased. This time, after installation, the passenger seat air bag sensor was damaged. Two mechanics asked if the installers removed/replaced windshield from the inside; the installers must have leaned heavily on the passenger seat. We had a 4:00 appointment- the last one of the day......The repair of the passenger seat air bag sensor will take several weeks and up to $500 for just the part that has to be specially ordered. A tree branch fell on the windshield , shattering it and making the car unsafe to drive and the first appointment I could get was the next day, a Saturday, at 4:00 at the facility. COVID restrictions prevented me from waiting at the facility where I would have observed the repair. The two mechanics ( one from the Dealer) came to the same conclusion without knowing that the windshield had just been replaced and told me it is very hard to damage the sensor in the seat from sitting on it. Although hard to prove, I will always make sure to observe the repair in the future. read more

Earlier this year, I had a rear windshield that was shattered during a windstorm by a tree branch that had fallen on it. Geico referred the repair to Safelite. Safelite Autoglass of Hackettstown showed up in a timely fashion on the day of the appointment (having been initially postponed for the first appointment by them, and having the 2nd appointment pushed back) but they had ordered the wrong rear windshield (despite having access to the VIN# of record), so they had to reorder the part to comply with the VIN #, and come back at a future date when it came in. It ultimately took 2 weeks from the date of the first call to them to achieve the repair. The first installer was friendly and seemed conscientious. They came back 6 days later with the right part, but the second technician (Jason) seemed kind of dismissive and as such did not give me full confidence in his professionalism and work ethic. I requested that he let me know when he was finished (it was supposed to take about an hour), so I could review it. He had already been prepaid by credit card. Anyway, I went back out about 30 minutes later, and he was already gone. The windshield seemed to be installed well, but the glass was also supposed to have been vacuumed thoroughly, and yet there were still visible shards - both large and small everywhere over the seats, the seat backs, the floor on both sides and the parcel shelf (or package tray) below the windshield. Instead I had to go to a gas station and spend nearly an hour of my time vacuuming what I could get. There are still shards remaining that are visible and that require a special tool or vacuum tip to be able to reach into the parcel shelf (speaker shelf), and yet would have been easily reachable at the time had it been vacuumed properly before the glass was inserted and sealed. So, if you want to hire someone for what turns out to be an expensive do-it-yourself glass replacement and yet pay them for what is supposed to be included in the price, and considered part of the job, hire Safelight Autoglass of Hackettstown for workmanship that you will never forget. And neither will anyone who uses your backseat to sit in. If you have children - young or old - I would think more than twice about ever hiring Safelight to repair broken glass, because your children may be the next victim of their incompetence. read more

Horrible experience. I had a very small nick in my windshield and they did a faulty repair job. My windshield cracked all the way through right after the repair. It was their fault the repair was not done correctly, yet, they did not warranty the repair, rather they tried to scam my insurance out of a full windshield cost. Bottom line, my insurance did not pay because it was safelites fault and then safelite sent me to collections without my knowledge for the full windshield amount when they were originally paid by my insurance already for the repair work. Windshield repair - never use this thieving company to repair your windshield. There is still a visible chip in my windshield. They don't tell you that there might still be a mark until they have finished their process and hand you the bill. It's in the fine print. I got a call this morning and Mykhaylo said he would be able to come much earlier - sounds good to me! He got here at 9:30 and was done by 10:30.
