DO NOT get your windshield replaced here. In my experience, they'll break your rearview mirror and then be unable to give you an answer on when you're going to get your new one after 2 months of calling back. Manager is only available for 1 hour of the day, which he may not even be in the store to take calls for. If he does answer the phone, he'll probably say he's going to call you back by 5pm that day and three days later you won't have received any calls. Two months and many many many phone calls later I still don't know when I'm getting my mirror fixed or if I even am. Expressed to the manager that I needed this ASAP because my inspection was up at the end of the month and he assured me he'd have the problem fixed by then. Obviously, this was a lie. Transferred 2 more times, got to a sup to get this figured out and schedule - an hour and 40- minutes later, I was warm transferred from sup to a scheduling girl who said she need all my info again, since the sup never gave her any of my info. I had my windshield replaced in Baltimore, MD, but the molding didn't fit correctly. I got home to Norfolk, VA and took my Honda to the Safelite shop on Virginia Beach Blvd so they could replace it with the correct molding. The tech was very nice and it was finished very quickly. The molding also CAME OFF as soon as I got on the highway. Attached by only one corner, it started slapping the roof of the car. It could easily have cracked my sunroof and definitely impacted the top of the car. I can't rebook online. I'm certainly not going back to that location. The receptionist was very busy looking at paperwork when I arrived for my appointment this morning, and didn't even greet me. I was standing a foot away from her. I've spent more than a total of 2 hours on hold, throughout the day, because apparently the store has to respond and apparently they can't be bothered to pick up the phone. I could not be unhappy with Safelite and will do anything not to interact with this company. I went online to schedule an appointment and was estimated (Quoted?) a price of approx $475.00 which I thought was a fair price but at that time did not commit. The next day I received an email indicating that if scheduled a service Safelite would discount the estimate $100.00. I immediately schedule and awaited the day of install. After a few texts confirming the time and date (which I appreciate) I received a phone call asking how I was to pay for the service and the representative indicated there would be a $799.00 charge to be applied to my credit card which I was shocked to hear. After discussion I indicated that I had a hard quote of ~ $375.00 and did not understand why the now, elevated price. The difference was due to calibration of the safety equipment in the windshield and was told that I should have known that this was to occur and therefore the upcharge. The end result was that I cancelled the service as I feel that the estimate should represent the price (unless there are unforeseen circumstances) and that safelite abused their commitment. Fun fact- did you know your windshield can crack on the INSIDE from "extreme temperature changes"? Well now I do. That was an expensive piece of information to learn. When I noticed the crack I went through my insurance company. They kept recommending Safelite, but I wanted to go with someone more local. So I called up a local shop and left a message. After not hearing from them I then sent an inquiry through their website... nothing. So I went back to my insurance company and just went with Safelite to get this off of my todo list. I was able to make the appointment online and there were tons of time options to choose from including a drop & go option every day. I think they also offer services where they will come to you, but my car is more like a spaceship with all the safety features so I had to go to the shop fo they could perform all the recalibration stuff required to make sure the features will continue to function correctly. Check in was easy and I opted to wait in the lobby while they replaced my windshield and recalibrated the safety features. My car was ready to go before I knew it! They had a TV in the lobby as well as complimentary beverages. The technician I worked with was extremely friendly and gave me clear instructions for the do's and don'ts for the first 2-3 days with my new windshield. A bonus was getting to overhear a conversation happening from another technician who has been with Safelite for over 7 years. He was talking about the company culture was treating each employee like a professional vs just a glass slinger. It felt good to hear that even under a national brand the employees at this location feel valued. No one wants to have to deal with an unexpected auto repair situation of any kind- but I'm glad that places like this Safelite location exist to make the process easy. read more

I used the company to replace my windshield on Lexus rx350. Booking and replacement process were really smooth and clear. It took less time than I expected. But there were 2 issues: 1. During the installation they broke my dashcam. I have an integrated one and probably they didn't even know there is a camera and obviously broke it during the old windshield removal process. 2. Unfortunately I chose an aftermarket windshield and I was not properly informed about the difference. There is an information on their website that aftermarket glass just the same like OEM but not. It is not tinted at all and it's obviously less sound protected. Now it is much louder in the vehicle. So if you are going to replace the windshield please take off all equipment prior and use only OEM glass. read more

Super impressed with Safelite and their customer service. Had to fight my insurance company a little bit and pay out-of-pocket for my windshield, but working with Safelite was super helpful. I arrived 30 minutes early to my appointment, they were able to get it started pretty instantly and were done in less than an hour. That was wonderful because I was able to pick it up before they closed. When I got in my car, I could tell that the person who drove it took care of it and respected it. Who doesn't love a great jingle? "Safelite repair, Safelite replace". Genius I tell ya, because that's exactly what they do repair, or replace auto windshields. They will even do it at your home or office. This is my first experience with Safelite auto glass. I elected to file a claim with my auto carrier who contacted Safelite and in turn they contacted me to set up the appointment. Within 12 hours of calling my carrier Safelite contacted me to set up an appointment the next day. The woman on the phone was friendly to deal with and gathered information in less than 10 minutes. She also took my credit card information which is optional to do over the phone, or you can do after the service is complete. They will also attempt to sell you wiper blades that are their own brand and supposedly comparable to Bosh. Who wouldn't get new blades with a glass replacement, not me. Good wiper blades are not inexpensive, so don't think they're trying to take advantage of you. I gave the woman my credit card information and completed the transaction. A few emails came across from Safelite confirming the appointment and providing information about their services. I needed to call them regarding the appointment I had set up the previous day because my appointment was very tight to make it. When calling the automated service it recognized my phone number and I was transferred to the local office who was pleasant to deal with. On the day of the glass replacement I was running 20 minutes later than the appointment time. I apologized and the master tech who took care of my car said it wasn't a problem at all and confirmed my windshield was in stock. He informed me he should have my car back in around an hour. My car was quickly taken in the garage to complete the windshield replacement. The lobby presented nicely with plenty of chairs, a kids area, a office table and complementary snacks and drinks. There is also a TV that was on HGTV and played a lot of Safelite commercials. One of the managers came out to talk with me and we chatted for probably 20 minutes. He discussed the business of glass replacement etc. and their expansion into Williamsburg by the end of the year. I was impressed. My car was delivered back to me in around an hour and a half and everything looked great! Due to a malfunction with my credit card information a manager that I had yet to meet needed me to go in his office to finalize the paperwork. He apologized for the card information not going through. He was extremely professional and I enjoyed some small talk with him. I would absolutely recommend Safelite to anyone that needs repair or replacement of an automobile windshield. A suggestion is that they have all staff look presentable in their red shirts. Like many other reviews, there seems to be a consistent theme. Unreliable and nobody should be using them. I have been trying to get my windshield replaced on my 2024 BMW M4 for the last three weeks. I originally had a home appointment, but they called me the day of my appointment time stating that they could not replace it at the house. I rescheduled at there shop off of Tulip and dropped the car off two weeks later. I dropped the car off, spent money on an UBER to get to and from the shop. Two hours later they called and stated they ordered the wrong windshield and I would have to come back at a later date. When I went to pick up the car they actually removed the old windshield and my small 12" crack went to all over the windshield because they had to put the old one back in. See attached picture. Now it is very hard to drive safely. I rescheduled again, four days later when they stated they would have the correct windshield in. Well, I just picked up my car again, and they simply stated they ordered the wrong windshield again, and the staff stated, I don't know why this happened. Sorry. Please don't waste your time using this vendor as they really don't care about customer service, let alone actually get anything done. Very disappointed in Safelite. Safelight Auto Glass attempted to repair my windshield that had a small chip (smaller than a penny) very fixable this am. The "repair medic" took a spring loaded window punch to open the glass up so they can install the resin in the crack. When he hit the metal spring loaded punch against the window it spidered the chip beyond repair now it needs to be replaced. The employee gave me a handout (as he was leaving) with the fine print "if the chip or crack becomes larger we are not responsible for such damage" I am now out $500 dollars for a new windshield. Do some research before having Safelite "fix" your glass. Other repair shops use a small tool that looks like a dremel with a small bit and a dental pick to open. It is not manual and aggressive. read more

Just terrible customer service! I had an appointment for today from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. They do not call you to tell you they cannot make it. When the appointment was made I received a text. But the day of the appointment, no text and no telephone call. When I called at 12 to see when the technician would arrive. I was told by the lady answering the phone she would have to check and see where is the technician. She called back 50 minutes later to say the technician did not work that day and they would need to reschedule. What type of business does not know their technicians are not working. Had a 1/4 cm chip in my glass. Came out to my house for repair and they made it worse. I understand that can happen but the crack then grew to cover the entire windshield in a C like crack. Insurance set up an appointment for replacement after my $500 deductible. Dropped it off for my 11:00 appointment. Was told it would take 3 hrs. At 4 pm I called to check on it and was told no one was answering then shop phone and they'd leave a message. Response and communication are good, but overall quality of work is below standards. Since having windshield replaced it is not the same as before, every bump or movement will cause a creaking or knocking sound. Addressed issue with shop and was consistently told everything is fine. I did not drive my car until the next day, so I did not notice they left my passenger window down and it rained. I also had black marks all over the outside of my white car and a dirty dash board. We then contacted the Virginia Beach location, and after waiting for 3 additional months, we were informed that they didn't have the right part either. After they looked at the VIN of the car, and had all the information for the right parts, they still failed to do their job. I would drive around without a windshield before coming back here. Brought our 2021 Toyota RAV4 for a crack. Came to pick up, and the driver-side headliner was missing 2" of material, and plastic underneath was shattered. No one there remembered working on the car, and they were going to let us drive away. $3200 of damage for the new headliner, and they offered a $50 inconvenience check, but wouldn't cover the cost of the "repair". Had to fight for 30 days with their customer service to get our reimbursement for the replacement (overnight check was always "coming tomorrow"). Do not bring your vehicle here. We also witnessed them whipping a Maserati into their parking lot and scraping the bottom out. Complete joke - go to Chesapeake. read more
