Produce goes bad in 24 hours (I take stuff back now) Bags with no handles (to save money) when I paid in cash today the change wasn't counted back, my few items were shoved at me and the checkers complain to the customers how bad it is to work there. I've lived in Issaquah Highlands for over 12 years, and I've always dreaded coming into this Safeway store. There is an older lady with white hair and pink stripes at the self-checkout desk always gives me an air of unwelcomeness and resentment. Maybe she has personal issues at home, but at least have some basic manners of customer service when you are at work. There was a time I passed by her and wanted to show some friendliness by saying hi, she looked startled as if approached by a ghost, and immediately looked away, pretended she heard nothing. I was embarrassed on the spot by the silent treatment. For over 6 or 7 years since this Safeway was opened, I've always drove to QFC on Gilman or the other Safeway on Gilman just to avoid being looked at with stinky eyes. I've put off writing this review for a long time. I eventually decided to provide a proper review. I hope management will look into this with an appropriate degree of seriousness. I have been a Safeway member for the past 2 decades, from when I was a student at UW to when I moved to work in Redmond and Bellevue, Safeway has always been a go to place for me. The experience at this particular store, and the fact that it is the closet store right in my neighborhood, is unfortunate and ironic. read more

I went to the deli and they had a baked chicken, jo jo potatoes and cole slaw set for $6.99. The jo jos were good and plentiful and the chicken breast was good but the chicken wing was broken in two pieces, burnt and almost no meat on it all-only bone. Major disappointment. The cole slaw was not great either. Flavor seemed to be lacking and knife cuts were uneven-some large pieces and small. I think the cole slaw was missing some of the regular ingredients. I love this Safeway! Its new and clean and well stocked and great prices with the club card. Just bring your own bags - its in Issaquah. Plus I thought everyone was really nice and helpful - especially the deli section ladies and the bakery! My car is huge and I thought the parking was fine. This review is strictly on the deli section. I just got a rice bowl with the kung pow chicken and its honestly the worst thing I've ever had. The rice tastes like its been soaking in water for hours and the kung pow chicken has zero flavor. You can't be charging people money for something that was made so poorly. I really do not see why this Safeway is rated only 2 1/2 stars. We travel all over our motorhome and this Safeway is exactly what you would expect a Safeway anywhere to be. The produce is very fresh, including numerous organic options. They have a large selection of non perishable items as well as frozen. Just disregard the low ratings (maybe people don't provide so many good ratings on chain stores because they know what to expect) and move on with your shopping! read more

Always terrible. EVERY TIME. Two check out lanes open. Half of the self service lanes were down. Line stretched back into the freezer section at 3 pm in the afternoon. Strongly suggest you drive an extra 5 minutes and save 30 minutes of your life. read more

This store is always busy yet only ever see 2 checkout lines going except the "do it yourself lanes". The attendants servicing those lanes are slow and rude. I absolutely do not recommend shopping at this store. I'd rather drive to Klahanie to add hop at QFC. read more

The review is only for pharmacy - here is the fraud: be aware!!! I took flu medicine and with insurance, it costs me $100 and the cash price being $167... came home and saw that my wife got the same medicine for my in laws with zero insurance for $102 in Walgreens.., my son, wife and myself are being loyal customers since they open. After today's experience, we are all switching to Walgreens and will let my friends also know. BE AWARE!!!! read more

This is your typical grocery store. They have everything you will need but you I tend to find prices here a little bit higher than other stores. Obviously if you shop here you will want to get your Safeway club card or you will pay double for most things. The Safeway deli is by far the best deli/hot case you will come across in any grocery store - but this store always has a problem being short staffed in this department. It's never a quick trip in and out, usually have to wait in a line of 1 to 3 people. If you're looking for lunch they also have a sandwich making deli where they will make you a deli sandwich, Chinese food, pretty decent sushi, and of course - they gorgeous and very delicious chicken strips! They also have a salad bar with quite a few ingredients and fresh stuff all the time. The service at the checkout stands is good - always friendly. It's clean for the most part, never carts hanging around in the parking lot ready to smack your car. Easily convenient for people that live in the highlands or a little bit out of town. They should see if they can get a Redox there since their movie department is very limited. They also have a Starbucks in there too which is nice and a little seating area to enjoy deli food and a coffee with a fireplace. read more

Disappointed in this new Safeway. Built in an up and coming neighborhood, I expected a "wow" factor, but inside it looks like an old, antiquated Safeway.....even has those old Safeway linoleum floors(ugh). Parking is cramped and employees know nothing. I have gone to the "customer service" desk on two different occasions, asking for the phone number for the regional office and have been told both times, "I don't know." They do not even try and get it for you. They could call their manager and get it. Very unhelpful group working at this location. I have been there three times and will not go back. Horrible customer service. Cashier rang wrong items. Didn't check receipt until I got home. Had to go back and get refund, but the customer service lady was questioning whether or not items were truly rang up incorrectly because the item number that was supposed to be rung up didn't match. It took 15 minutes to figure out. The refund was only $10. I should have just counted it as a loss, but it was the principle. The fact that she was questioning me over $10 was ridiculous. I only live a block away, but because of this experience I will be going to the Safeway that's farther. read more

Love it here. Conveniently located and the staff remembers us only after a couple visits which is surprising with the amount of customers. The older gentleman that works checkout is normally there when I go and is always putting a smile on ppl face. The store is always clean and never had an issue. read more

The pharmacy is terrible at this Safeway. The Safeway itself is great overall. But prescriptions sent to this pharmacy by my doctor enter a black hole where they NEVER get filled. Days later, nothing. The only way to get a prescription filled is to call every few hours. Their computer system seems to be completely broken too: I never get the automated call when a prescription (finally) is ready and once when I called and a staff member said my 3 scripts were ready, he called me back in 2 min to say that one of them wasn't filled after all and they didn't have what they needed to fill it. I asked him why he told me it was "ready to pick up" just 2 minutes ago and he said that "the system showed that it was processed" but when he went to grab it, it wasn't ready. Hmmm. So either he was lying about it being ready, or someone wrongly marked it complete in the system, or the system is broken. Regardless, I can't rely on this pharmacy. At the moment, I've had another prescription languishing unfilled there for almost 48 hours. My doctor is not happy that I'm having a 48 hour+ delay in starting my meds. I'm frustrated because I live right across the street from this Safeway so it's very convenient for me. I can't find any other pharmacies in the highlands so looks like I'm going to have to drive a long way. Grrrr. I have many prescriptions so it's going to be a real pain to go elsewhere. I wish that this Safeway pharmacy in the highlands would get their act together! Note: Safeway gives you $75 in gift cards if you transfer your prescriptions to them and fill 5 prescriptions. Now I know why: their pharmacy is so inept they have to bribe you to use it! read more

As far as Safeways go, this one is pretty nice (aesthetically). The staff is also very friendly and helpful. That said, most everything they sell (non perishable) is cheaper on Amazon, and their organic selection is very limited. The noncompetitive prices are made up for by how convenient this Safeway is if you live in the Highlands, so overall I'd give them 3 stars. read more

I moved here almost a year ago from back East. I originally wanted my ashes scattered in a Wegmans store because they are so awesome. I must admit, though, I am very impressed with the Safeways in Issaquah, both the one in the Highlands and the one in Issaquah. Pharmacy - Just moved to the area, tried to transfer my prescriptions from previous Safeway Pharmacy, the pharmacist lady there at IH told me that my old pharmacy had to do the transfer. Called previous pharmacist and they tell me, "no the new location has to make that request". Call IH again, talked to a gentleman who said I was given the wrong information from their staff. Since then, I have been in there 3 times to pick up prescriptions, the ladies ignore you, somewhat rude and make you feel like you are impeding on their time. Hmmm, might have to make a change not impressed at all. read more

This Safeway is in a very convenient location, but I'm disappointed they don't stock some basic non-grocery items. In the pet section, they have no puppy pads. In the hardware/lightbulb section, no screwdrivers. I'm not sure if this is typical of Safeway stores. read more

Gas station is horrible,even though it is cheap and the prices are great will think twice about going back there, the guy working there today, only rang up my drinks not my gas so when i went outside to pump I realized this and went back in, he fought this fact with me for about 20 minutes, even though I had the receipt,said I was just trying to steal gas,when all I wanted to do was pay for my gas and leave, He was rude and degrading to me in front of the other customers. For some reason this Safeway appears to have cut their staff significantly, starting this year. The checkout lines are consistently long in the evenings. This evening, the day before Memorial Weekend, there was not a single regular checkout station open! Only 5 self checkout stations were open (one was broken). The customer lines reached halfway down the aisle, 12 people deep. An adjacent aisle had its own line. Other than long wait lines to check out, I like this Safeway. But if I'm in a hurry I think I will go out of my way to look for a QFC until Safeway fixes this problem. read more

I work near this safeway, so I decided to try the chinese food at this location. I got the express supreme, with all chow mein, sweet and sour pork as well as sweet and sour chicken.....First of all, it was basically slimy green onions and a few small pieces of pork. The sweet and sour chicken was just as bad.....It gets better - I bought this on Thursday for lunch - Ended up sick on my day off on Friday all day. NEVER AGAIN.....DISGUSTING!!!! read more

I wasn't sure if I even wanted to leave this review since it will likely be ignored by management, just like my initial complaint in store, but here goes. I went into the store and noticed, also in the store, was a woman and her German Shepard. This dog has been aggressive to me, my toddler, and my dog, to the point that we have called the cops on her. I'm shocked that she's in the grocery store with her aggressive dog, when dogs aren't allowed in stores unless they're service dogs, which to my knowledge this dog isn't. I immediately let a member of staff know, as I don't feel comfortable being in the store with them. The staff member is concerned, and let's the manager know. The manager completely brushes it off. Doesn't believe me when I tell him my experience with the dog and his owner. Basically makes me feel like I'm lying to him and says they've never had a problem with her or her dog. Says he's not gonna do anything about it. I have a few problems with this. First, again, dogs aren't allowed in the store and this dog doesn't have a service vest on, so why isn't she held to this rule? Secondly, that's incredibly poor customer service. Third, I've just told you I've had personal experience with this dogs aggression and the manager doesn't care that an aggressive dog is in his store? Yikes. We immediately switched our prescriptions over to Fred Meyer and will no longer spend our rather large food budget at their Safeway. I also encourage any other family with small children to no longer shop here - the manager clearly doesn't care about the safety of their customers. I have also let all of my neighbors know. I prefer to shop where my safety and wellbeing is valued, not dismissed. read more

I have been shopping at Eastside Safeways for many years and have always found them to be a good grocer. The reason for this review is the Pharmacy. Over the last 2 years I have dealt with many pharmacies in an effort to find a good one. I had right sided kidney failure and was having procedure after procedure over an 18 month period. This also meant a lot of prescriptions for me. This is the best pharmacy I've ever been too! EVERY TIME I COME IN THE STAFF GO OUT OF THEIR WAY TO ASSIST ME. They know me by name and always greet me with a smile. Today I was in getting an antibiotic filled and the Pharmacist patiently looked up which kind of medicine would be cheaper for me. She took her time in getting me the best deal and the best part about this is that she does this every time I come in! She always kindly answers all my questions about medicines and prices. Out of the umpteen pharmacies I have been to in hopes of finding one that had timely, and courteous service this has been the only one I think fits the bill!! This is my home pharmacy and I am very happy with them! Thank you guys for being the best pharmacy on the Eastside!! read more

It's clean and stocks most things. I wish we got the fancier store that the builder promised with the oven fired pizza but alas we have PCC for that. It has taken a while for this place to become a well oiled machine and it is getting there. Everyone is friendly. I just recommend that you check your receipt before leaving the store. While the grocery store is mostly what I expect from a Safeway... Well stocked, organized, etc, the Starbucks within this location is very Sub-Par. The staff is rude, not informed on the Starbucks line, and don't know how to prepare a drink the way a customer asks. When I asked for something specific, they told me it couldn't be done and argued with me. Do yourself a favor a walk across the street and buy from the stand-alone store..... Or better yet, support your locally-owned, non-commercial coffee bar. read more

People here aren't friendly, and they tell you to move even when they know you shopped here before and tell you to purchase something or they will call the cops. Also, the loitering sign is outside not inside and they say it applies to inside the store. read more

Every time I visit this store it seems they are bent on making life difficult. Night and day difference from the other 2 Safeway in the vicinity. At those stores they bend over backward for you, not here. So tired of dealing with the BS and can't do attitude of the clerks here. Today I had a $25 off $50 coupon. Before scanning the coupon the self checkout clerk went out of her way to wade thru the fine print of the coupon with a fine tooth comb, almost as if she was looking for a reason to deny the coupon. After failing to find a reason, she grudgingly scanned the coupon. Gee, thanks. Well, not so fast, I had another coupon. The clerk refused to scan any more coupons, citing the terms of the $25 off coupon stated "one discount per purchase". Really? Give me a break. 5 of the items I had purchased were on sale, didn't that count for more than one discount per purchase? read more
