I rented a car while visiting Juneau for the day, and I was really wanting a cold soda. Duck Creek Market was the first place I saw, so I stopped. Tucked away amongst the trees, this place felt like it was a true representation of an Alaskan convenience store. The dudes working in there had huge beards and were burly, they looked exactly like what you'd think Alaskan mountain men would look like, which was pretty cool. They were friendly but a little intimidating! The inside of this store is old and rundown, with inventory boxes lying about and stuff crammed everywhere! Flyers about local events, fundraisers, and hunting and fishing restrictions were plastered all over the front windows. The prices, as you'd expect due to the remote location, are very high. I can't remember what I paid for a soda, but it was a lot. It was cold and didn't have an expired "use by" date, so I consider that a win. The place felt a little sketchy, and I would avoid it at nighttime or maybe if you are a female traveling alone. I didn't feel unsafe, but it made me a little uneasy shopping here based on the clientele hanging around outside. I know that sounds snobby, but I'm just trying to be honest. Duck Creek Market isn't fancy, but it's sort of a place I'd recommend if you want to soak up some truly local culture. Stopping is is an adventure in itself! read more

Great service but way to many drug drug deals in the parking lot

Really bad customer service. Female employee was extremely rude and challenging. I was even accepting the wrong selection because it was clear that she was going to snap when i tried to correct her. That didn't matter though cuz she was clearly on a power trip and ended up snapping anyways. Refused to serve me because I asked if the credit card machine normally took so long. I've shopped there for years and they even ordered my brand for me but I will never spend another dollar there. A couple months ago my partner and I went to get chippys here little did we know mice bit a big ole hole in the bottom of the bag. Giving the bag to the cashier I gave the benefit of the doubt and tried for another bag. That was also bit into by the critters. Hopefully they can get to the bottom of this. Grew up right across the street from there. My momma used to give us kids her EBT card to get goodies and soft drinks all that good stuff. Wonderful childhood memories there. Moved over 40 times in 10 states. Don't understand the negative reviews about clientele. Service always appreciated and efficient. Prices more reasonable than grocery store and $5+ cheaper than liquor store less than 2 miles away...hello. Bought spices $3.09 cheaper per item also!! Thanks guys. I think you rock and appreciate your close convenient availability when I visit every year fir s month. This place is great! Enormous selection of wine, liquor, and beer, as well as all the fixings of a fully stocked market. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I always stop here on my way home to pick up a bottle of wine and some snacks. Great location too, right off the main road. read more

I've been there many times - never been robbed at gunpoint - never heard of ANYONE being robbed at gunpoint - never had my car vandalized and as for drug transactions - there may be one or 2 in the parking lot - but that's true for most parking lots - Super Bear parking lot has a much higher rate of drug transactions. And most people involved in a drug transaction certainly don't want to interact with random shoppers. You sound like a disgruntled person - what are the crime statistics in KENT, WA?? read more
