There's a massive parking lot with plenty of spots, a full-service pharmacy, and an on-site fuel center too. Since this chain is owned by the same one that runs Kroger and Smith's I was excited that I could earn rewards points with my purchase! The store has a big deli and bakery with fresh items, and has all sorts of local and national brands. The prices are on the high side (this is Alaska, after all), but they carry just about everything you could ever need or want. There's even a small section that sells generic Alaska souvenirs if you need to pick up something for the folks back home.

When I asked for help scanning the barcode for my loyalty discount on the app, she didn't seem to know how to find it. Instead of trying to figure it out or asking another employee for assistance, she appeared stressed, nervous, and ultimately didn't make an effort to resolve the issue. She also seemed distracted and wasn't fully listening to my questions, which was quite disappointing. A little more attentiveness and willingness to help would have made a huge difference in the overall experience. Sign Up for Membership. Tucked away amongst the trees, this place felt like it was a true representation of an Alaskan convenience store. The dudes working in there had huge beards and were burly, they looked exactly like what you'd think Alaskan mountain men would look like, which was pretty cool. They were friendly but a little intimidating! The inside of this store is old and rundown, with inventory boxes lying about and stuff crammed everywhere! Flyers about local events, fundraisers, and hunting and fishing restrictions were plastered all over the front windows. The prices, as you'd expect due to the remote location, are very high. I can't remember what I paid for a soda, but it was a lot. It was cold and didn't have an expired "use by" date, so I consider that a win. The place felt a little sketchy, and I would avoid it at nighttime or maybe if you are a female traveling alone. I didn't feel unsafe, but it made me a little uneasy shopping here based on the clientele hanging around outside. I know that sounds snobby, but I'm just trying to be honest. Duck Creek Market isn't fancy, but it's sort of a place I'd recommend if you want to soak up some truly local culture. Stopping is is an adventure in itself!

In March…read more2023, however, I had the absolute worst customer service of my life with the clerk behind the counter who, I noticed was already agitated and talking loudly as I entered the store, proceeded to complete lift-off when I went to the counter. 34.5 years in healthcare and I never had a patient interaction like that, much less a customer service interaction. I tried diffusing the situation without result. I should have left the fancy booze on the counter and just walked out, but I was so taken aback I simply made the purchase on auto pilot and got out of there. Moving forward, I will give all of my business to Breeze-In (their Lemon Creek location has a superior selection of liquor, wine, and beer anyway) or, if I need something beyond what they offer, I will lug it up from Seattle. From now on, very best view of this establishment will be from my rear view mirror.
