I have tried using the app to order food twice during Covid. The first time was in April. I placed an order for delivery and received an email confirmation -- but the food never showed up. I was never notified that the food was not going to show up, it just never showed up. Then, about 8 months later, I placed an order for pick up at 4 pm. At about 3:55, I received a message stating that they were running behind (though it did not state how far behind). At 5:00, I reached out to customer support and was told they were running one hour behind. I told them that it has already been an hour, and my order is still not ready. The representative then called the store and said they were now running an additional two hours behind. At that point, I realized that not only was the 5 pm dinner for my daughter not going to happen, but also her bedtime would have to be delayed significantly in order to pick up the food. The store says they will give me a minor credit on the order -- but it does not at all make up for the incredible chaos in our home tonight which they caused. I am not impressed with their service -- and I will not try ordering a third time. I recommend you find somewhere else to get food delivery or pick up during Covid. read more

I bought my wife a $50 starbucks gift card from safeway for valentines day, the following day when she tried to use it, it had no balance. I went back to safeway to customer service & they had me call 877 safeway.. i called & they said safeway had to take care of the problem. Back to safeway again. This time customer service called them & we fax copies of the gift card & the reciept but no reply since two weeks.. do i have to sue safeway to get my freaking $50 back ????? The store itself is excellent. However, there are never enough cashiers at this place. It is ridiculous that this place is so constantly understaffed. To just get a small thing you end up waiting for like over 30 minutes. read more

Chris was awesome! I usually do my grocery shopping after work at 10 pm. Whenever he is helping me and the other as a cashier, he greets all of his customer with a genuine manner and courteous. He deserves a good promotion. The store manager is nice and helpful too. read more

So, last week I went to buy Outshine popsicles, they were on sale for $3 each, but Safeway was out of stock. I asked for a Raincheck so that I could buy them on sale next time and the kindly Caucasian woman in the customer service window wrote out a rain check for 20 boxes, knowing that I'm a regular who buys these particular popsicles in large quantities. Today, I went to buy them and fortunately hey we're in stock, but not on sale, so I gave the raincheck. To "Latino," who took the coupon to her assistant manager, a tiny, full figured Hispanic woman. Despite a long line behind me, I was humiliated as it took them ten minutes o figure out the simple arithmetic of subtracting $2 per box. After all that, the assistant manager proceeds to chastise me in front of everyone, claiming that the quantity, 20, exceeded their store policy on rain checks of only allowing ten. I advised her that I hadn't even specified a quantity when I'd obtained the rain check, and suggested that in the interest of the beleaguered customers waiting behind me in line, that she end her tirade. She stated she didn't care about the growing line, and then asked me why I wasn't buying he quantity (20), listed on the raincheck. I explained that in the past they had never required me to fulfill the entire quantity listed on the raincheck in one trip, and that I could only purchase as many as were in stock (5 boxes). She then told me she would "make an exception, this one time," as Myself and the other bewildered customers looked on, utterly mystified, I was horrified as this simple transaction, in the "Quick Line,"for customers with 15 items or less, took 12 minutes to complete. This assistant manager, who normally patrols the self checkout stands, is totally miscast in her managerial role, and I suggest to the powers that be that she be limited to bagging groceries, and/or wraangling carts. She's an officious slob who gives Safeway employees, generally a decent group, a bad name. read more

The service is good however everyone literally moves like molasses. After work the last place anyone wants to be is at a grocery store. If you put some urgency in bagging the groceries and helping the customers get out quickly that would be awesome. Also when you see more than 5 people in the 2 lanes you have open...OPEN another register. Just saying. Tired after work and stuck in grocery line traffic. read more

I cannot understand why this Safeway does not have more than three lanes open at a time when there are huge lines of people at each open register waiting to be checked out plus more people waiting for the self-checkout. Every time I've gone there it's been at least 10 minutes. They need to hire more cashiers. They have at least seven other Lane's that could be used but there's no cashier. This WAS my go to store until yesterday, I have been a loyal customer for many years. me and my small family went to go buy groceries we needed as I payed and waited on my husband to try to purchase some banana chips but he did not want them after all and left them there I admit it was his mistake for not letting her know to cancel the transaction and I apologize, that gave her no right to scream from self checkout accusing us of stealing when I had payed for our groceries .I am not sure what made her feel like she had the right I mean was it because we where young parents, or Hispanic, or maybe because my husband has tattoos but none of those are excuses. She needs to be taken back 1st day of training and pay close attention to the customer service part! I have worked in retail business and I would never never just acuse someone of stealing because we are taught that in training plus if you are wrong and the person is not stealing you look like a total ASS. We where raised right we have manners, morals. I would not go to jail for $4.99 if I don't have the money I would leave it. I just found it disrespectful and embarrassing for us since all the other customers stared at us while being falsely accused. Their lucky I do not call Corporate. read more

I work for a local non-profit. We have had a very successful relationship with this Safeway for a number of years. ALL of the employees at this location have been very courteous, including the bakery and customer service desk.(Maria is very friendly and helpful and seems to go out of her way to help everyone!) In all of my experiences at this location, the employees have gone out of their way to please me as a customer. Today I was in need of the SPECTACULAR white cake with fresh strawberries that Safeway makes. I tried three of the stores nearer my home as I wanted to purchase this particular kind of cake TODAY on the way to work for an employee leaving due to a family emergency. None of them could help on short notice :( THIS SAFEWAY went out of their way to make the cake on a moments notice, decorate it exactly as I asked and it was ready for me when I arrived- handed to me by a very friendly young lady named Jerina. She made certain that the sentiment on the cake was exactly as I wanted it and she did a beautiful job decorating the cake exactly as I requested - even though she didn't have advance notice on what I was asking for! I spoke with the manager to compliment him on the excellent AND QUICK service that I received and he was very friendly as well. It showed that he cares about all of his customers experiences. The cashier that I checked out with in a very short line was friendly and helpful. The entire experience was very pleasant and I was in and out of the store in no time at all! This store is very civic-minded as well and truly cares about the community. I give this store an A+. read more
