This is like an oasis in the middle of the desert! All the other shops or restaurants in this area seemed run down and I was skeptical about how this store is going to be. However, I was pleasantly surprised! Store is huge and their produce was fresh! We were able to find each and every item from our long list of grocery and one of the helpers really went out of his way to find one particular item from our list. Staff is super helpful. The alcohol section is separate, almost like a shop of its own, and the cashier there was super patient and helpful too. I am very thankful for this store. read more

A few months back i commented on this store not keeping up with the extra flow of people. I needed to say they have improved greatly, their store is all updated and the veggie section is absolutely beautiful! I did not realize when I wrote my last review (I was pretty harsh) that there was a national shortage on many things, that had nothing to do with the store. Now when I see shelves that are empty I know that it isn't lack of keeping up, but rather dealing with a crazy shortage on our food items we never experienced before. horrible employee in the liquor department. went with my husband to purchase a box of beer. when asked for an id I informed the employee that my physical id was in my car but I have a digital one on my phone. instead of the employee listening he stood there with a dumb look on his face and replied that they could not accept a photo of the id to which I again said it's not a picture it is a digital copy of it. this employee was a white male with long hair and had a hat on his head. do better hiring employees that dont have their heads in their asses and are willing to service and listen to their employees. dont be dumb read more

Seems like they're always out of something I'm looking for every single time I go in. Employees don't want to go in the back up look either. Frustrating bc there are no other options in North Pole. Pricey too. Fried chicken and donuts are good though! read more

They have a Starbucks. I got a chai latte at Santa Claus house but it didn't do it for me. Starbucks has decent chai. They get four stars for having a Starbucks. They have almost everything you will need out here. We got chicken, salad, water and dumplings for our dinner tonight. We put the items on the belt for the cashier. The customer in front of us had a case of beer which fell on our dumplings and cracked it completely open. The cashier didn't flinch or say anything. It was like oh well, who cares. We purchased a recycle bag for our groceries. The cashier started putting our groceries in a plastic bag instead of the recycle bag we were buying. Anyway I'm glad they were there and in a great location. read more

You can keep putting lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig. No matter how many times you try to "renovate" the store, it is still the most unappealing Safeway in the north star borough. (And yes, I do know who owns the building and the reasons why it cannot have a proper remodel) Let's not forget to mention how the store cannot keep up it's inventory compared to the other stores in our area. I think the district manager needs to take a very close look at the management. To say the very least, it is very poorly managed. read more

I've been a loyal NP Safeway customer, nice staff but they are being replaced by self check out. Lines are longer than they should be because they don't have but a few checkers. I refuse to do self serve unless I'm getting only 1 or 2 items. Their produce often leaves a lot to be desired but their floral and meat departments are great! read more

I go here often and I've never had a bad experience. All of the employees always greet me with a smile and provide fast service.

I give this store a 10 on a scale of 1 thru 10 .Just recently we got a new manager named Charles he is easy to talk to and trying to make the store a much better, cleaner, more stocked place for us that live here in North pole! It's fine for groceries but I'm dinging it on the deli food from behind the counter. The fried chicken & fish patties were just OK and the mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese were subpar. read more

This store doesn't look like much on the outside but the inside has a lot of great food options and fresh meals to go.

Obviously Safeway is grocery store, and it is very close to my house- so I go there several times in any given week. (I myself am a manager at different grocery store) A few months ago- I discovered that they sell chocolate covered ginger in their bulk section. DELICIOUS- developed somewhat of an addiction....long story short, that bin has been empty (and dirty) for nearly a month- I have mentioned it to every cashier (one gave me a comment card) I talked to several other employees, even the man who said he was in charge of ordering it....nothing. Clean and fairly upscale but expensive. The employees are helpful and friendly, and the deli has some really good side dishes. I like the store-brand organic line, and the package store right next door is very convenient. If you watch the sales, you can get some good deli items for a bargain. It's the only grocery store in NP, but it's a good one. read more

God bless my family and friends and North Pole Safeway I thought my family was Shelton, WA Safeway but my favorite Safeway store is definitely this one now. I purchased my first Seattle Seahawks jacket on a sale rack at this Safeway while living in my dry cabin in North Pole, I was soooo excited to finally own my home town football team jacket and root them on. I paid attention and learned from my beautiful wise auntie Barb a little about shopping, I noticed a stain on the already marked down Seahawk jacket and this Safeway manager was so AWESOME....when I asked if I could get another discount because it had a stain she so kindly and graciously marked on the tag another 5% off (I was so pumped....way cool!....I was so excited) After getting home I noticed the young man who rang up my items made what seemed like an honest mistake and missed the extra 5% off and it was probably my fault too I was so excited I may have for got to bring it to his attention. Later after moving back to Delta Junction to my folks my zipper busted on my Seahawk jacket, I was so bummed and so far from NP Safeway (2 hours away with no vehicle). I was a little upset so when I'm upset I walk it off, I threw it in the woods along the Alaska Hwy near my folks place thinking, I'll come back and get it God when I get unticked off for the zipper breakin after a way cool deal, no one will bother it God we are way the heck out here. Boy I searched the woods three times to find that jacket and finally found it so next time Dad brought me to NP Safeway just before leaving Alaska I talked with a way AWESOME Supervisor behind the customer service desk who I made a deal with....I found the last women's small pink Seahawk tee-shirt on the sale rack and explained situation about my broken zipper (but was still searching in the woods for the jacket at the time, hadn't found it yet) and asked if I could bring the jacket a trade it back in for the last small tee shirt on sale rack. She didn't hesitate said she would hold it for me but I couldn't get back to North Pole soon enough by the time I did the Safeway employee at customer service couldn't find my pink Sea-hawk tee so I found a 3X jersey on the sale rack next time I came to NP Safeway while Dad waited for me (we both thought I was gettin me my pink Sea-hawk tee that was bein saved for me.... but I was too late.) Instead I got my dad that jersey because he shared with me he didn't want to ever go to a Sea-hawk game again because he waited in line to go to the restroom and got gun shy after waitin in line for a very long time and had to go back to the end of the line to wait again there were so many people. So when I heard his story I prayed he would sometime attend our Seattle Sea-hawk games again and not let nane sayers and people steal his joy and for God's favor upon my Dad. God bless my dad and mom today it's their 49th Anniversary, wow! I'm thanking Jesus for God's testimony of such faithfulness to one another-that's love! Mom desires to be with dad this day but she rests at the present time, please pray they would have a blessed day! Anyhoo.....I love this s-t-o-r-e......lalalala......!!!!!!!
