Nicest Safeway within miles! Eight self check kiosks ensures that you wait (if there is one) is minimal! They have all the thing a regular Safeway would have but the store is big, clean, and the meat department has steak, better than chuck, which is all they seem to have at the Safeway by my house. I really don't like to write bad reviews, but the Safeway Pharmacy here is abysmal. My daughter needed antibiotics for an ear infection. The doctor sent her prescription here. I called to find out when it would be available for pickup. They told me that the medication was out of stock and that it would be in the following day and ready after 4pm. I asked if it was possible to find out if another pharmacy had it available and I was told that I'd have to go to that pharmacy and have them call to have it transferred. I went to CVS and asked the pharmacist there if that was possible. He said it was and that he'd be happy to find out what the medication was and if they had it have it transferred over. I was glad to hear this, because my poor daughter was miserable, and I really wanted to get her started on the medication so that we could get her relief quicker. The next morning, I called CVS to see if they were able to find out if they had the medication and if they were able to get the prescription. The pharmacist said that he did find out the medication and did have it in stock, but that he had been waiting for Safeway to finally send it over. He asked me if I could call them and ask them to transfer it again. I did, but for an hour today, I called multiple times, and no one answered the phone (during posted open hours). Finally, I gave up and called the doctor and asked them to send the prescription to CVS. I'm so annoyed, because if Safeway had transferred the prescription yesterday, we could have started the medication sooner. read more

Extremely rude whoever I spoke to today about filling my pets medication raised her voice at me multiple times and cut me off then asked me to repeat myself when if she had she just listened in the first place to my questions she would've heard what I was asking. Conveniently their system went down right as I was trying to fill my medication not sure if they're actually having a system problem or if the woman was tired of assisting me. So disappointed in the cake we ordered from Safeway. We been getting cakes here for years and this is by far the worst. We ask them to be creative with a baby theme for a boy. I guess this was all they had in them. They must have been short and let an associate in to cover bakery. The cake itself was still good but the presentation not so good. Went to get my COVID booster and there was no sign for the line, so I stof in line for pick up. 15 minutes later the lady finally comes back into the window and tells me to get out of the way so she can help another customer, I asked where to stand and she said "just stand over there". So rude. Meanwhile the drop off window (which is not labeled vaccine registration line) took 4 people ahead of me. The worst customer service ever! I usually don't shop here anymore but yesterday confirmed why I need to stay away. I went to the deli and when we approached the deli we were not acknowledged for quite some time. The deli employee did see us when we walked up. When she finally came over to us she asked us what we needed. This lady had no personality. No smile or friendly tone in her voice. She looked as if she hated her job. I asked for a 1/4 of Genoa salami. She looked for a while for the salami and then finally began slicing. Then asked me if I wanted a 1/2 pound. I said no I want a 1/4. When she was done she handed me the meat. I looked at it and said this isn't Genoa salami. She then said she didn't have any. Isn't that something you should tell the customer before you slice the meat? I work in customer service and this is not someone I would have working for me. The first time I picked up my perception of course it wasn't ready when the fax came from the Doctors office. Got home sick with my antibiotics to get a call saying they for got to out my inhaler in my bag. I had no energy to go back out so I went the next day. This time around I gave them 2 hours to get it right and again they told me they just received my perception which I know wasn't true because the Doctor told me they sent out my perception before I left the office. If I could give this pharmacy 0 stars, I would be so happy. I've got a massive tooth infection so my dentist tried to call in a prescription for me. She was forced to leave a message; I then called back 3 hours later to ensure it was in stock (because this pharmacy almost never has anything in stock you actually need and has to order it for next day, but antibiotics are usually safe). I was hung up on not once, not twice, not thrice, but FIVE times. Then I was told my prescription wasn't there, and that they'd definitely had checked their messages. I then called my dentist's office where the poor receptionist spent over 20 minutes trying to talk to someone but she was also repeatedly hung up on. She then tried the store manager who promised her she would actually talk to someone in the pharmacy, but she was transferred to voicemail! So go here if you want rude customer service, to be hung up on, and to not have your prescriptions being filled that are called/faxed in lost -- I highly recommend anywhere else but here! I've emailed corporate customer service because I'm so horrified. read more

Not only is he friendly and funny, but he opened my eggs and made sure none were broken. He didn't just take a quick glance, he really inspected all the eggs. Come on, who does that? And my meat he wrapped separately in plastic bags. I've never had anyone do those things before. That's really great customer service and shows he truly cares for the customers. I like the produce dept, the new wine dept is much bigger. I wish they carried my Del Monte Manderin Oranges in the large can and plain yogurt in the small size. Parking is a pain most of the time. This review is strictly for flu shots. I had a male Asian pharmacist (who seemed very nervous) give me my shot. It hurt SO bad!!! I have been getting flu shots for as long as I can remember and usually you don't feel anything, or at worst a small prick. It felt like he stabbed me in the arm. I have taken ibuprofen since I returned home, but the site of the injection still hurts/burns. I would recommend going to a doctor or nurse for your flu shot, because it is more than obvious that this guy is not trained to be doing what he is doing. read more

1st I go on Friday to drop off my scripts. 1st the drop off window is closed I was there to drop off am on crutches and in pain. The pharmacist just points at me and acts ignorant like am just a bother when I always get told to use the drop off so the day I do I get this jerk response really rude. Then I get back in line and they say there are in a jam they really busy here comes the manager and tells them that the drop off has to be open at all times. Then I look at the jerk pharmacist. I tell the clerk at the counter why he acting like a fucken jerk when all I am doing is following the rules. Okay 1 script can be filled until Monday okay cool I have to wait the other can be filled on Friday here is sat Sunday and now I call Monday and nothing they can't find my script. Now waiting on a call back. So I been in pain since Friday and been having a harder month trying to be more active and that causes me more pain for a life long injury. read more

My prescription was filled once then deactivated by someone at safeway pharmacy I never spoke to, supposedly on my authorization. The pharmacy that safeway claims my drugs were transferred to have no record of the transaction. Now I have a prescription bottle with 6 refills on it from safeway and they won't fill it without my doctors approval, all because someone took it upon themselves to deactivate my prescription without my authorization. It is good that my does not depend not his drug. You know, if I didn't spend so much time at safeway I would dump this pharmacy. They all seem incompetent, every one that I have talked to seems to be utterly lost by the process of transferring of filling a new prescription. I had trouble getting the prescription transferred in the first place, it should have been my first clue that this was a bad idea. okay, here's the deal. This pharmacy USED to be great until they cut hours and hired a new Pharmacy manager. The only time I feel that things will get done is when Pete is there. Pete has been there for at least 20 years and knows what he is doing and does it fast and friendly. When I'm waiting in line, people walking by always say 'hey Pete! How are you?' And Pete always has a smile! Even under the stress that he is working around. I can see it in everyone else's faces but never Pete. I haven't seen him in about 3 weeks and I've noticed how much business has declined. I feel bad for the tech's who have to work there. I was just told their hours have been cut AGAIN! No wonder people are having such bad experiences. I get all my RX's there, but will be moving them elsewhere. Can anyone recommend a pharmacy that has people who care about their employees? CVS? Finally! More cashier's on the weekend. What used to be a 45 minute wait, is now 10 minutes or less. This Safeway is the best one left, clean, friendly and we'll stocked. Great customer service with exception of the food and deli department. There's never enough staff and there's always an attitude stressed out over worked employee serving you. Would like more to choose from on the hot food. San Ramon has Pizza and their Sushi department will make your Sushi fish & vegetables just for you. Castro Valley Safeway will look at you crazy and if you can get them to speck to you, they'll tell you only what's there is for you, unless your Asian. The rest of the store especially the meat department is fantastic. read more
