I decided to give Safeway another try and place an online order last week... I arrived to pick up my order , bonus points the person who helped me was super friendly. When I get home I realize almost half the groceries are gone and I called them to let them know. The manager did not get on the phone or do anything that resembles an apology for me having a come back a second time for my food. I arrive that evening to pick up the second half of my groceries. Mind you there's still a couple items missing. I did order multiples of specific box products and check the receipt. I was charge for more than I received. my avocados are bruised only one out of the entire bag was good the chips on the order were smashed and open. It was a variety bag so thankfully a few of the bags remained OK. I called to let them know what happened the first person I talk to a super rude the second person transfer me and said nothing to the third person who actually picked up the phone. The third person left me on hold so long I decided to give up. My time is way more valuable than a $99 trip to the grocery store that went all bad. read more

I enjoy and love coming to this store! The young gentleman whose name was Chase was so polite and very outgoing. He has amazing customer service and all the other staff that work here are very amazing and are very helpful! They finally seem to have the fruit flies and moths under control. It's about time, that was gross. Today I went to the deli to order a sandwich and the older African American lady who was working was very rude to me right off the bat. I tried to continue but her attitude was too much. I told her nevermind. She was rude about that too. Hire some teenagers, they can do way better than this grumpy old hag. I'm not one to go complain but I did today. I shop here constantly and expect more. The manager said he would talk to her but they really need to hire someone else to deal with people. I hate Starbucks but sometimes I get it cuz it's here. Worst delivery service ever from Del Paso Rd. Safeway. I only received 4 of my 15 items (even though items showed as in stock, several were not available) but was charged for 9 items. Tried to call store manager and was disconnected twice, then was transferred to delivery department who never answered. Called manager back at 5:20 pm and was told "oh, sorry, they must be gone for the day". No way to contact driver. Finally received refund for items never received. Absolutely do not recommend!! Busiest gas station in Natomas! Ugh! I'm not from around here but my family lives here in Natomas. When I don't have enough gas for a round trip visit from Roseville to here I stop by this Safeway location because it is the cheapest deal around. I can't seem to catch a good time when its not busy no matter what time of day. Too, it is conveniently located off highway exits. I have a small enough car where I could get gas that will pump gas from either side of the tank but people who line up will wait in the middle blocking both entries to the pumps. Did that make sense at all? No etiquette. Poor design on this location. They should just take out the that piece of cement that blocks the entry to the lines and replant those flowers and plants somewhere else, right? The same as every single other Safeway, except this one has a gas station ... which is a plus. Other then that it looks like every other one and the lack of workers fits suit. I've never had great service at any Safeway and this one is the same. During one our visits we realized when we got to the checkout stand that we grabbed powdered sugar instead of cane sugar. So the employee at the checkout stand asked a passing employee to please switch it out for us. She grabbed the box, grabbed the correct box and threw it onto the counter causing it to slam and partially break open. The guy that was helping at the counter didn't even flinch nor did he offer for us to switch out the box. He scanned it and threw it in the bag with the rest of our groceries. Needless to say we never returned since. Oh, and another time they forgot to pack something I paid for ... yea, I'm done with Safeways. Haven't the foggiest in which pocket or purse it's hiding....and so, no access to Costco gas when I'm making some treks on freeways, which doth empty the tank quickleeeee. When staying in local hotels in Natomas, i love to come to this safeway for easy hotel food (to prepare) or ready to eat food! They have a HUGE selection of deli food (hot and cold) The last time I went I got the best egg salad sandwich I've ever had - you'd think this is an easy sandwich to make/get right but not so -- and theirs is JUST RIGHT. We also got some hot food (chicken strips/jojo style potatoes) and drinks. We also got hot coffee (that for store coffee was quite respectable!) Thanks for the good eats! read more

Boooo! Safeway's switched to the same "paying by credit card is more expensive than cash/debit" system now. However, their higher credit card prices are still cheaper than AM/PM, AND I don't have to pay them a transaction fee for the "privilege" of buying their gas. Plus, with the continued 2x or 3x rewards points for being a Safeway Rewards Club member, I like that I get even cheaper gas just for buying groceries...it's kind of like a bonus! I hate going to this Safeway. Parking is always a disaster with lots of turns before you can actually park. People crossing the aisles which makes it difficult to maneuver. I try my best to avoid the Starbucks located inside Safeway but I always find myself standing in the line thinking about that nonfat Mocha I'm going to order. Never again will I buy bread here! My dad and I stopped here to stock up on groceries after returning home from the thanksgiving holiday on November 26. We both like the sourdough bread selection they have, so we bought a loaf, that we just opened today November 29, only to discover that it is MOLDY!! We store our bread loaves where there is no moisture anywhere near them, so unless it somehow molded in the 20 minute drive from there to our house, it arrived at the store moldy. I don't like writing negative reviews for the grocery stores I shop at, but this needs attention. My advice is to buy your bread elsewhere and not even stop at this locations bread shelves. read more

THIS REVIEW IS ONLY FOR THE SANDWICH/DELI DEPARTMENT!! Arrived here this morning around 8:10. There was only one person in front of us. Cool! Short wait right? Wrong! The woman making the sandwiches was moving ridiculously slow. The station was not fully prepped so every time she had to get an ingredient that wasn't already at the station (which should have already been), she had to go out and get it and bring it back to the station. That happened about three times with the person in front of us. And the machine that prints the receipt stickers was literally on the other side of the deli! So she had to walk all the away to the other side and then back! Why not just move the machine closer?! So many back and forth trips that could've been avoided if they were fully prepped. I ordered a large Italian sandwich. It comes with mozzarella, Salame, prosciutto, peppercini, and aioli sauce. There wasn't any mozzarella or at the station so she had to go out and get some. There wasn't any prosciutto either. She had to go out and open a new package, open it up, slice it on the other side of the deli, and then bring it all the way back to the station.. Overall, it took us about 20 minutes to get my one sandwich.. Ridiculous. And keep in mind that this Safeway is open 5AM! That's THREE hours for you to have the station fully prepped and it wasn't. By the time I got my sandwich, there were about 5 people behind me.. if you're in a hurry in the morning, save yourself the wait and grab something from the "grab and go" section. read more

I love to use the app and the driveup & go service. The problem is, though, that this Safeway has chosen to have the spots for driveup & go the spots nearest to the door. This means this almost 100% of the time they are occupied by in store shoppers who ignore the signs so they don't have to walk an extra 10 or 20 feet. Please move the driveup and go spots to an area not as impacted. read more

They cancelled my cake order the day of the event. Why accept orders if you can't fulfill them. Thank you for the inconvenience of me having to run around the last minute to find a replacement. They didn't even have the courtesy to email or call to inform me of the cancellation. I understand the need for unions, but I despise it when employees of a store chain give bad service because "it wasn't negotiated that I was supposed to give you good service." This is an aspect of American culture I've never been too proud of: acting dumb to comply with semantics. At this Safeway, there are a few people who work here who give serious attitude. It's nothing specific so they can't be fired, but it's more subtle things like deliberately taking 2 hours to put a plastic bottle of Sprite in a bag or something like that. It's frustrating because I honestly prefer the "check out yourself" machines so I don't have to look at long faces or annoyed employees who come to work and have a huge chip on their shoulders. I wonder if the unions deliberately negotiated that Safeway should not have automatic checkout counters. The morning coffee line takes too long so I am forced, when I am in Sacto, to get there at 7am where I get attitude from the store clerk who is apparently not a morning person. I'm not either. But the store clerk got to the coffee first so why didn't that person take a quick shot of espresso before opening the cash register? Out of convenience, I am forced to come here. But, Bellair market may be where I end up at. Someone mentioned mice earlier. Yes, that is true, especially on rainy days. The mice are all over the parking lots. This area used to be agricultural farmland, specifically, rice fields. As a result, the construction has placed all these healthy fertile field mice in an ecological clash with a young, never subdivided and developed area. One positive is that if you spend over a certain amount on one purchase, you can save 10 cents per gallon when you purchase gasoline. For those of you who like celebrity sightings, this Safeway is very close to the Arco Arena. Every now and then, you'll find a Sacramento King shopping. They're easy to spot. Just look at the ceiling and you'll see a 6 foot 9 inch tall kid walking about. read more

This Safeway is an absolute joke. Perhaps it's just the lacking staff support or just poor wages, but the IDGAF attitude exudes within this store. I have always utilized this store as a last resort, but because of my work schedule, I utilized thier home delivery for the first time. What a mistake and what a joke. I spent roughly $400 on groceries as I was having a dinner party tonight and didn't have time to shop. Ultimately, my mistake. I had a 3-4pm delivery scheduled and by 5:30....nobody. Guests come at 7pm. I called and was told by the first "associate" that "the person in charge of deliveries went home for the day" and then hung up. I called right back and asked for a manager. I got that idiot on the line and he said he couldn't help because "they're two separate companies?" WTF? You can take my money and confirm a time for delivery but other than that, basically forget customer service? Safeway, you are a JOKE. I tried calling again and am on hold for exceptionally long wait times. 6:16 and I'm typing this review from Raley's as I'm getting what I need for groceries. Today I was in the store....sign says mask required. A woman, not masked, is at the US Bank Spending more than 20 minutes on a transaction and bragging about not wearing masks. I asked for the store manager... no one wanted to take responsibility for talking to the woman. They passed the buck...the manager did nothing....absolutely nothing. Typically, I like shopping at Safeway. Either through online shopping for pick up or delivery or in-store shopping. But yesterday I had a bad experience. Due to my busy schedule, I needed to order my groceries online and have them delivered. Unfortunately the only delivery time available was between 4pm-8pm. I received a text notification close to 5pm stating that someone was currently collecting items for my grocery order. At 6pm I was notified via text that my grocery items were ready and on schedule for delivery. Then at less than 20 min before 8pm I received an email stating my order was "running behind schedule" but I would get notified when it was on the way. Around 9pm, I inquired about my order but all they could tell me is that it was delayed and should be delivered soon. At 10pm I tried to inquire about my order but the chat was no longer available... then at 6am I get a notification that my grocery order was on its way. I had to be at work at 5:30am. Safeway did not inquire as to when a good time would for my groceries to be delivered. I had ordered items that needed to be kept frozen and refrigerated. So that left me scrambling to ensure that my grocery items could be received and put away so that they did not get stolen or go bad. I did "chat" with an online representative and I got my delivery fee refunded. $4.95. read more

I love this safeway, and I am from the snooty town of Davis! I feel like the bread here is just a little bit better (I like the french breads, even though I prefer savemart freshly baked breads to safeway ones) the frozen section has a better, wider variety of foods from the indian foods to the pizzas to the ice creams and meat pies, they just seem to have more. The one thing that they don't do as well as davis, is their fresh produce. Every time I go here, they're out of something: Fresh basil, or green onion, or jalapenos... etc. Also, it gets really busy here, so at times you'll have to wait long for your check out, and things can get messy and disorderly, but overall, I'm pretty happy with this Safeway. read more

Ummm.... A-W-E-S-O-M-E. That man brought all those dozens of cases and gallons of water into my house and didn't just dump it. He stacked it neatly. If I had a business of my own, I would steal him from you. He was that good. Lee needs a raise, an assistant, and a promotion ASAP. Earlier today, I had a similar experience with the drive-up service. I forgot to get his name but hello, there was an ice cream substitution and he gave me a bump up if you know what I mean. This is one of the scarier Safeway locations I've been to. My first visit here was at night and it was a little horrifying as I contemplated not going in because this erratic woman was screaming from inside the Safeway and the security guard didn't do anything. Then she comes outside, continues screaming, and nothing was done. Ever since then, I've been coming during the daytime but it still isn't the safest and it's SAFEway (get it? get it?). Inside, the layout is kind of messy compared to other Safeways. It's very crammed and disorganized. My biggest disappointment with inside is their selection of prepared food. You can only select from sandwiches, fried chicken, or salads. Where's the Chinese section that every other supermarket chain carries? I wouldn't be so bothered by this if the food offered was good. The fried chicken here is either overcooked and super greasy or extremely salty. Like other Safeways, the lines are typically long with few open registers. This Safeway has a gas station that I've never tried before due to two factors: the long lines and the fact that it doesn't carry the good quality gas that Chevron and Costco has. read more

This was the first ever Safeway I've been to and it is probably also the most neatly organized one. It used to be our regular grocery store few years back when we lived nearby. Good place for reasonably priced organic produce. The vegetables and fruits are also fresher than the other safeways I've been to. They do have self checkout option if it gets busy. The Safeway gas station offers lesser expensive gas, so it is always crowded. read more

I bought these pastas on the 16th. I open them on the 17th, and as you can see completely moldy. Absolutely Disgusting. I emailed customer support. They responded within 48 hours wanting photos and barcodes. I sent the photos over they tell me that they cannot refund me because the pasta is not a Safeway brand and that I need to take the pasta back to the store to attempt to get a refund. That is absolutely absurd. They expect you to hold on to moldy pastas for days waiting on them to respond then go out of your way to go back to Safeway to try to return it. Ridiculous! I will never again shop at Safeway as this is ridiculous, disgusting and disappointing! You spend 4.99 each to take home something that is not even good but the best to eat by date says 6/26/19! It looks like from the yelp reviews that they have an issue with their foods often. I have contacted my attorney and department of health. I will also be leaving a review on BBB! This place is going to sell someone something and they'll be come very ill or even death. Not to mention they also sold me a salad with 7 pieces of lettuce in it that was their brand but they offered me $5 credit on my club card. Idiots ! I walked in here Friday night just to grab 2 items. I could've went to the location downtown but it gets incredibly dangerous there so late at night and I'm a young female. So granted, it was 11:56 when I walked in and they let me know immediately that they were closing in 4 minutes. Okay. Got it. I work at a grocery store myself and believe me when I say I hate to be that person. However, there were two men working there that were so incredibly rude I was in tears when I left. One of them literally started FOLLOWING me and yelled at me as I was walking in the store telling me I NEED to check out and leave as soon as the clock turned 12 when I was clearly trying to hurry. The other guy at checkout was so condescending and rude. As if I didn't hear them the first time, he felt the need to reiterate that they close AT 12. Regardless of the time, I'm still a paying customer and the store I work at would never belittle a person as much as they did to me. I will never ever give my money to Safeway again as long as they're employing people like that. It was 12:04 by the time I had left. I'm sorry but tell me that's not ridiculous. Review for the deli department. I was graced with Ms.Usam as my sandwich artist. One customer was already being serviced at the counter and as I waited she greeted me and let me know she would be right with me. The wait wasn't long and her positive attitude was just as delightful as watching her make my lunch. Although she was wearing a mask I could tell she was smiling and that made me smile. I was having a pretty rough morning and the simple transaction between her and I completely turned my morning woes into a thing of the past. This was my local grocery store, but today was the last straw. Today after doing my shopping I observed a Safeway employee using a regular grocery cart to empty the garbage from the trash bins in front of the store. This cart was not marked with any distinguishing signs that might prevent it from being placed back into the carts used by customers for their shopping. The worst part is that I have brought this to their attention before, when I saw them emptying the trash from the bathrooms. After complaining to corporate multiple times, Dave the old manager finally assigned a specific cart, (when they got the new black ones, like what was being used by the employee), from the old stock of tan baskets and clearly labled it "for trash". This was in order to ensure that it did not get mixed back into the carts used by customers for their shopping. The new manager's name is Nick but you never see him on the floor interacting with customers, so there is not really anyone there to take care of this or observe it for themselves. Maybe they will stop this practice when someone get sick from using a soiled cart, but I'm not taking the risk. This Safeway has fallen apart since the new manager started. read more

This review is strictly regarding the Pharmacy Department. Came on a Saturday around 2pm and I see there is a sign that states, "out to lunch, be back at 2:30pm." Umm, they have only one person working on a Saturday? Even if there was just one person, they should have set lunch hours that is consistent on the weekdays or weekends... ESPECIALLY on the weekend and people are busy and have schedules. I know it's not consistent because I called on Monday and no one was answering the line and it was 1pm. I called customer service and she stated she just saw the Pharmacist come back from lunch and it was around 3pm when I called them. REALLY? Now I can relate if they are understaffed, but they need to get their "lunch schedule" straight as customers don't have time to guess when they should come and pick up their prescriptions during normal business hours. read more

I used to come to Safeway frequently to buy chicken breast because I thought they were pretty inexpensive per pound (~$1.69 per pound). Recently the price per pound has increased substantially. Now I must pay $3.69 for each chicken breast pound. Did they change supplier or something? Now I just go to Raley's since I would pay the same price. read more
