Personnel are friendly, caring, and responsive. I would be remiss not to directly mention Kimara. Her recommendations for salad paired meat combinations are Outstanding! I can't go wrong. And, the salads are terrific! I give her a Special Shout Out, not only for her recommendations, but also because she uplifts you with her energy and spirit. She cares about customers....Very customer-focused! And, she slices turkey breast meat perfectly for sandwiches! She is a delight to work with! I also want to give Shout-outs to David, Ellen, and Mario. They are also effective & efficient! They know how to slice, too! Very customer-oriented! Also, I heard Mario is a Manager! Kudos to him! A stop at The Summit plaza Safeway to pick up some yellow corn. Their corn has been very tasty and sweet. Best of all, it's on sale this week so hurry over if you're a corn lover. Cleaning the corn ears can be a mess with the silk flying all over. I went outside to do this with a garbage bag close by and all was well. I cooked some of the corn and boy were they delicious. Worst customer service ever encountered. Nobody in the store knew where to find Pepsi Prebiotic soda. Asked 3 associates and they all just kept directing me to the 12 pack Soda Aisle or asking me to inquire to the next person who had zero interest to help. Why do you offer promotions and then not train employees to know where the items are. Customer service counter is always unmanned and someone might show up by a miracle if one is lucky. After five fails : the deli folks frequently display their "you're bothering me attitude " when asked politely to slice deli meat to your desired quantity and thickness. They also have used the old slight of hand trick by slicing one piece and showing it to you for your approval only to get the meat home and have it resemble nothing close to the thickness (much thicker) they showed you in the store. When I spend almost $20 for sliced deli meat, I'd like it cut the way I like, it. Highly likely I'll start driving slightly further to another supermarket ........starting next week. read more

This Safeway location has been a lifesaver for our family. During the CV lockdown we ordered all our food online for Safeway pickup. It was very easy to create an account and order. They had virtual coupons that were easy to apply. While we were in quarantine we did one delivery order and that went smoothly as well. We had some minor issues on a few of the orders but called and it was fixed pretty easily. After you order you get an email confirming your order the pick up time and date. When Safeway is done picking your order they send you a text message for pick up. There's 2 parking spots you can park and call the store. They bring out your groceries in masks and load them into your car. So easy !! Would highly recommend. The online grocery manager is friendly and responsible!! read more

This Safeway is in good location with ample parking. Everything you expect from a grocery store is met here. Last summer, I remember the fire department was here trying to relocate a rattle snake that took refuge behind a planter. Unknowingly I walked right pass it and nobody told me about is until I was in the clearing. Most shoppers here seem to be in retirement because most of the time I'm here mid-day when everyone should be at work. customer service manager "Yung" checked us out. well, that's what was on her name tag, but the receipt shows FENELLA. she is perhaps one of the rudest and slowest women I have ever met. We had two gift cards, and she seemed very irritated by that and kept slamming them around onto the counter. I had the worst shopping experience at the Safeway in far north Scottsdale (almost Carefree). First off, you cannot use their app in store, unless you are up front. This being said, there is no way to check or add any digital coupons while shopping. Next, the deli counter is only open from 10-2... really? When I did go to check out, I chose a lane with an open light on...but was kicked out and told to go to another one (after waiting) because the cashier wanted to close... mind you no one was behind me. When I asked the "new" cashier to scan my barcode she told me her scanner was broken and I would need to input my phone number. Well, like many folks, I didn't know which number I have associated with that card... so the bagger looked at my account and told the cashier the wrong number. I told the cashier that it was the wrong number but she said she already entered it and that I would need to go to customer service....yes, another line to wait in. Customer service tried going through my app and matching each coupon item to the receipt (the Ben & Jerry's started melting...get my point) .. many coupon items were missed as well as being told I could not receive my fuel points.... to top off I even had a 4x fuel point coupon downloaded! I love the Safeway by my house but this location was terrible. None of the digital coupons work. I was there in my work uniform and it seemed like all of the employees were following me around thinking I was trying to steal something. Red roses? We have shopped at this Safeway for the five years we have lived in this area. I would usually rate it quite well, but had a terrible experience on Monday. My husband bought me red roses there on 2/6 for my 2/7 birthday. Three days later they wilted, never opened and discolored. I asked him twice where he b ought them. Safeway was the answer both times. I left them in the water because I wanted to return them. No, he didn't give me the receipt. They were a gift. When I returned them the woman gave me the third degree. "Don't have a receipt"? Hmmm. "We don't sell these flowers." Red roses? "That's not our rubber band." I finally gave up in desperation and told her to throw them away and I left. Did she think I make a habit of returning old flowers? Suggestion: If you want to buy flowers, don't buy roses at Safeway, keep the receipt, or buy candy instead. read more

I order groceries a day in advance. Delivery slot available was 5:00 pm to 6:00pm. The groceries arrived at 8:00pm only because I called customer service and was on the phone for 20 mins. The groceries had not been collected much less in a delivery be vehicle. Boo on them, never again! Customer service promised someone would get in touch with me but that did not occur. While there is an ordinance in Maricopa county as well as the city of Scottsdale to wear a mask, the managers of this store and I'm sure many other Safeways do not enforce the ordinance. I am tired of seeing people walk around the store without a mask on or wearing it on their chin. We have a worldwide health crisis going on and the management needs to quit playing Mr. nice guy. My husband went to Safeway today and tried to get meat and cheese at the deli. He was third in line. When it was finally his turn, he was told that the deli was closing and was not helped. Apparently they close the deli at 2pm on a Tuesday?! This is not the first time this has happened to him in the middle of the week. When he went to check out, the cashier was extremely rude to him. He always checks the receipts because we often find charges to be wrong. The cashier told him to move along and he was holding up the line. I don't care if they are short staffed or whatever else, BE NICE to your customers. She never said thank you or anything that wasn't rude to him. Stop by Safeway on July 6, 2022 had to stand in line for approximately 30 minutes because the manager or helpdesk would not get other cashiers nor baggers to assist the existing one cashier. Customer service at the Safeway is pretty much nonexistent always have to bag my own groceries or have one of the elderly ladies that is a checker bag them for me or assist me in doing it. Very disappointed with my trip to Safeway. I don't live but started going to this store because they had a pick up option. Today my bill seemed high so I checked when I got home and sure enough was charged for 22 Green Bell Peppers instead of 2. Contacted the store and asked them to pull up my receipt. I have been shopping at this Safeway location for the past couple of years as it is the most local store for me and the member discounts. There has of late been routine shortages which required me to make an additional trip to another store to find creme (half n half). The stock was completely gone last Wednesday and I had the same experience on my two previous shopping trips over a period of several weeks. I am very impressed with this store! It's consistently clean and the staff have always been helpful and kind to me. In each department, I am impressed by the selection of products they have to offer. The produce department has always been well stocked for my trips, with only the exception of one occasion (due to a national lime shortage). I appreciate that there is a bank location and a Starbucks location within the store as well, not to mention a gas station with reduced fuel prices for Safeway Card holders. For the most part, the entire store is well lit and the products are almost always well stocked. Overall, I think this store deserves five stars because of the quality it consistently offers it's customers. It's no AJ's, but it's also more reasonable in price! read more

This place is fine, until they rip you off. Read all of the other 1 star ratings for some of the crap they try to pull. My problem was in the seafood dept. I wanted the halibut that was on sale, called and was told that it was $5 Friday only, checked the ad, runs for the full week. Went to the store, showed them the ad, same guy says that's for frozen halibut. In the FF case halibut is $19.99. Check the ad again and it says 5.99 previously frozen, NOT frozen. Ask to see manager, guy re-marks to lower price, supposed to be 5 oz. portions, weighed when I got home, 2 pc. less than 8 Oz. Stores should not be allowed to sell by portion, most states this is illegal (ex. Pa. & MD), it's an invitation to rip people off. read more
