I've shopped at this Safeway and used its pharmacy since it opened years ago, and it was always well-managed and efficiently run. Overall the store and staff is still excellent, and its employees are courteous and pleasant, but its pharmacy since the remodel was finished late last fall is an absolute disaster. Its NEWER STAFF (not the regular staff that's been there for years and some of which remains) does not know what its doing, nor does it handle problems or correct repeated difficulties in filling autofill prescriptions. The new pharmacy computer program has either poor data input and management tech systems or poorly trained staff for proper operation. I have made the same repeated complaints about autofill prescriptions and the lack of calls indicating they are ready so often since last December that I have spoken to the pharmacists more in five months than I have in over ten years. When I do go in to pick up a prescription, I now ask if any other prescriptions are due to be filled in the next day or two. The answer is always "no;" but when I insist that they check, invariably there is always one or more still to be filled which should have been filled already. Failing to check usually results in two or more visits during the week to pick up prescriptions that should have been ready at the same time. For 3 months, the auto-calls went to some other number instead of the one they've been calling for years. It took numerous visits to correct this. As soon as the last of the current round of my prescriptions are filled, this Safeway pharmacy is off my list for good. read more

The service is really bad. It is even more shocking when a grocery manager, Kevin, threw the apples while he was ringing them. We bought the apples today to celebrate a religion holiday for Roshana. . When we came home, we saw the apples split. This damage was done by a grocery manager! He was rude!!!! read more

Did not receive my grocery delivery at all. Called three times to ask where it was and promised someone would call me back. They never did. Terrible way to do business. Three hours later still waiting to find out what happened. read more

I had placed an order for my sister which was supposed to be delivered by a given time. I paid for this delivery and my sister was expecting the food. The food didn't arrive, I've called and been on hold for 30 minutes. NEVER use this service. This was going to be a christmas gift. read more

This is usually my go to Safeway. I cannot say it is closest to my house because I have 3 Safeways the same distance from my home, 5.6 miles. However, I think I like this one because it is easy to find parking and I already know the layout by heart and can get in and out in 20 minutes. read more

Very solid Safeway location at the Summit. Parking is a breeze, of course the Summit shopping center seems empty compared to everything closer to the 101. There is a Safeway gas station, located right off N. Scottsdale Rd. With Safeway gas rewards, you can save up to $1/gallon. The rewards points start over each month, so plan gas trips accordingly. read more

Food selection was pretty good though seemed to be out of a bunch of standard items on our list. Store was clean and well lit. We purchased roughly $500 worth of groceries and here's why they don't get a higher rating. When I unloaded the mass amount of groceries onto the belt, and was still doing so while they were ringing, the two bag boys just looked at me impatiently to bring to cart down to them, even though it was still full of groceries that hasn't been rung up yet. I suggested that I would need an additional cart anyways and if they could grab one, that would be great. I got kind of a ...seriously...look. Finally one of the boys grabbed another cart. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know you don't put heavy items in with bread, chips, or bananas...however, when I went to take everything out of its bags....I was shocked. I ended up having to throw two containers of raspberries away as they were put in the bottom of a bag containing two heavy pork loins. They were smooched, opened, and now just jam. A loaf of bread had been bagged between two boxes of crackers....and you can guess it...smooched. Bananas at the bottom of the ice cream, chips in bags with salsa and cans of baked beans. In the end I lost even more money on the food that will not be eaten because of the way it was bagged. Had I not been so tired from driving from Colorado I probably would have gone back with the smooched goods. But instead, next time, I'll drive to a different store. read more

Very satisfied with this safeway. Always very friendly, helpful staff and I can always find what I am looking for. They also have a gas station out front and since I shop at safeway quite a bit I end up saving 10 cents per gallon when I fill up using the safeway card. I recommend shopping at this one, it's also right by Pei Wei so I enjoy grabbing a chicken bowl during the same visit :) read more

Stopped by the Safeway will visiting from California and they must say it was very organized huge with everything I needed and it was clean nice to look at and the food looked fresh. The parking lot was neat clean and easy. There was a Starbucks inside and the bathrooms were clean. Thank you for making my experience worthwhile. read more

This store is beautiful and we live only 2 minutes away. But, we don't want to go in during COVID, so we use their pickup option. Unfortunately, they are SO BAD at getting orders correct that almost each and every time (8 of the last 10 order) we need to deal with customer service. And when you are dealing with their customer service by phone, it's a nightmare. The biggest cause of customer service complaints are the "Just for U" digital coupons, which you must do something with before you place your order. Unlike Fry's, which has an easy-to-understand app that works 99.9% of the time, the Safeway app is a pain to use and is generally going to give you a pricing error. This store also has problems with sale items. Several times, with $5 beer on Friday specials, or with .74 cent blow out specials, I get in there on the first day of the sale and the items are not provided on Pickup and there's no substitute. Last night, we called in and let the guy know we are on the lot for him to bring out the groceries. 20 minutes later, we called back "Oh, my bad. I forgot about you." read more

Slow checkout lines and inadequate staffing for checkout. They're also very slow to call for extra checkout help. Really, the line shouldn't be that long before someone is called to help. They get away with this it seems because there are so few grocery store choices in this area. Location, location, location is as true as ever. read more

I really like this Safeway. It's huge. Very organized. New and clean. The bakery selection is huge with lots of options. But my favorite thing about this store is their meat section. It's organized very well. It's always fresh meat. When ever I cook with it my meals taste really good when I buy the meat from this store. Plus the people that work at the meat section are very helpful with ideas when I want to try to make a new recipe. read more

This store is not one I shop at frequently for several reasons, the primary one being the removal of self-service checkouts and the so-called (terribly misnamed) Express checkout line they replaced them with. Yes, there's nothing like hold a pound package of ham and waiting behind 4 or 5 people with full baskets. However, what happened on Friday, August 4, 2017, put me off the store permanently. Let me say I was having a really good morning. I swam, I went to the doctor, and I picked up fresh veggies at Sprouts. On my way home I decided to stop at Safeway and pick up chicken breasts and soup. I got the soup and went to the meat counter. The service person behind the meat counter (and that term, "service," is a sarcastic reference, not an accurately descriptive one) was just finishing with another customer, who took his purchase and then left. The "service" man said nothing to me, and all I did was smile and say a very pleasant "Good morning" - JUST TO BE NICE. He said nothing for a moment but gave me the stink-eye, then he said, "I know you're there - I can see you." He wasn't joking. I was taken aback and apologized and started walking off. I turned and said something like "What's wrong with you?" He chuckled - CHUCKLED! He didn't say please ma'am, come back - what can I get you? or anything remotely pleasant or PROFESSIONAL. He had a smirk on his face and looked at me like I was a stupid piece of garbage. I took my three cans of soup to the (so-called) express checkout: shocker - no one was there, so I went to the service desk and had them ring it up. Usually, when I encounter crappy service, I just blow it off and walk away. This time I did not. I had them call the manager, and met Brittney (sic): she was lovely, and kind, and horrified at my story. She took me into her office and I told her the details, and she apologized profusely and offered to get my two chicken breasts at no cost. I declined twice; she persisted, and I accepted her generous offer. She asked if I would be willing to write down what happened, and I said of course. I wrote a page of the story and details, gave her my name and telephone number, and then left the store. In my letter I made it clear that I would NEVER order anything from the meat department again if that man was working there at the time. This type of attitude and service is better reserved for, well, nothing: it is unwarranted in any situation, and certainly should not be imposed on a paying customer who did nothing wrong. The experience ruined my day, a day I was enjoying. At this point I can't envision why I would want to go back when there are grocery stores that don't treat their customers like crap. I have been shopping here since they opened. I have made several complaints to management. Their box boys don't have a clue how to bag groceries. Canned goods on top of bananas, wine in a single bag (theirs are the thinnest ever) etc. They are always under staffed and they constantly change their product assortments. This was the worse service I have ever gotten from any safeway. Normally I have fantastic service. But not here. I wanted a sandwich so I was standing at the deli and no one was there but one employee who clearly did not work the deli area. This lady walks out and started talking to the guy about some other employees problems. First off I didn't need to hear about it but I guess I did. Zoyie, (or how ever you spell her name) took her sweet time talking and making his sandwich... I stood there thinking of just grabbing some sushi and leaving, but I wanted a sandwich. I was standing there 7 minutes. Yes I was looking at the clock. Then this other lady Alizabeth walks over says can I help next person. I said yes, and that chick blew me off smiled at someone else and started talking to them. Then after about 10 minutes standing there Zoyie says can I help next person. I said again "YES!!! I was next in line." Told her what I wanted. Took forever to make my sandwich. Then I told her I wanted artichoke hearts also please. Her comment was "ooh you do know they are extra," and she said it with an attitude. I said "I know they are extra. It is not a normal item for a sandwich." I should have just grab some sushi and left. I will never go back to this safeway again for anything. AJ is a mile away and I don't care about that extra dollar I will spend on a sandwich. This store is horrible since Ben took over managing duties!! Deli is filthy! I've complained several times only to be told by Ben that he just inspected it and is was fine! Lots of expired food on shelves! Also takes 20-25 minutes for checkout. No self checkout and I have to bag my groceries 90% of the time. Ordered fried chicken-breasts only got home to a bag full of thighs. Do NOT shop here! Horrible!!! read more

This Safeway is fine, but I think traffic is light, so watch the sellby dates since it appears that the people at Safeway don't. One nice part of this Safeway is the Chicken Wings bar, and while I do like Chicken Wings, these are about the worst I've ever had. They use some type of sticky sauce on most of them, so the "hot wings" instead of being hot, are this sticky mess. Not very appetizing. Just Google "Buffalo wings" and follow that recipe because if you believe this sticky mess is desirable, you are wrong. read more

Be careful with these crooks. They had a Sign that read Managers Special $1.49 lb Turkeys. I wanted a bird over 20 lbs and all these were a little over 20lbs! Great. Thanks After I checked out I looked at the receipt and it rang up as $1.99 lb. I brought it back to the clerk and she asked me to bring her the sign. In very small print it said for birds 16-20 lbs. I couldn't find a bird less than 20lbs! This is the kind of trickery I've seen here before. BEWARE! Go To a more honest grocery. read more
