Saffron Bakery just opened up about a month ago, and I was excited to try a new bakery! It's a small bakery with a simple and clean interior. I was greeted right away by staff and they were very friendly. I noticed that several of the pastry options weren't yet placed in the case ~7:45am, which was a slight bummer because I would have loved to try the Coconut pastry and would have gotten cheesecake for later. I ordered several pastries. My favorites were the strawberries and cream pastry and the guava cheese danish. The pastries were flaky, the cream cheese filling was well balanced, and both the guava filling and the fresh Strawberries were delicious. The cinnamon roll had a nice buttery, cinnamon flavor with caramelized edges, but the roll itself was actually a bit sunken and dense inside (maybe something went wrong with the proofing of the dough?). The almond croissant had a yummy almond filling but was fairly dark on the top and somewhat dry, so it seemed a bit overbaked. The chocolate croissant had a good amount of chocolate filling, but there was a really big air gap in the middle and wasn't as flaky as I would have liked. I didn't actually try the Peach Danish because I gave that to someone else, but it looked tasty. Overall I think there could be some adjustments on some of the bakes but I did enjoy the flavors! read more

Are times trying new places is torture as what you expect is not what you find but every now and then something makes you pause and demands your attention in the best possible of ways. Saffron is in a strip mall that really does not have much to it with the starbucks closed down and would be easy to bypass altogether with the Alison Viejo plaza just a few blocks further away. But on a casual Sunday afternoon decided to give them a shot as was looking for some comfort food and comfort is what I found. The service is great and ambience has a family owned vibe The avocado toast with smoked salmon was clean, fresh, and satisfying. The almond pastry is on par with perhaps the best have ever come across. But the breakfast burrito with the fluffy eggs, delightful avocado, and salsa are all standard fare - the pastrami meat was a curveball and made for an extremely savory meal. And it was not heavy or greasy or overpowering as it all made for layers of flavor that were unexpected. Yes this place may be a little pricier than the norm but the quality is there so my belly thanks you for the wonderful surprise and look forward to the next visit. read more

We used Saffron in AV for our business client meeting via delivery. The sandwiches were tasty (the baguette bread was super fresh)- the caprese sandwich was VERY good as were all the others (ham, turkey, chicken)! The salad side dish (had a wonderful dressing) and the fruit combo was served in a nice dish. We will definitely be using them for our next client meeting. read more

I'm not a morning person, which is a bummer when you love bakeries. We stopped to check out Saffron after a late lunch in the same shopping center. They were out of a lot of items so late in afternoon, but I was surprised by how much they still had available - likely because they're actually open until evening. The first thing I noticed was the amazing lamination on all their pastries. I grabbed a butter croissant which is arguably one of the more "boring" options, but dang was it delicious. My boyfriend got the last strawberry danish and after letting me try a bite, I tried to steal the rest like some sort of crazed seagull. Guess I'm gonna have to get up just a liiiittle earlier next time. The person who helped us behind the counter was also super friendly. I just moved to Aliso Viejo three days ago, and I've already been to Saffron Bakery every single day! Their French pastries are out of this world--truly as good as the ones you'd find in Paris. The sourdough baguettes are fantastic; my wife and I are completely obsessed. I love walking here each morning with my daughter--it's become our new daily tradition. The staff is absolutely amazing, and Darius, the owner, is incredibly kind and welcoming. Huge shout out to Dora for always being so friendly and helpful--she makes every visit even better. I have not had fresh baked bread this good in a long time. All of the bread is delicious! I would come back for more. All of the pastries are delicious, especially the danishes and anything with fruit in it. I appreciate that they all taste fresh and nothing is overly sweet. You can tell they put their heart into this bakery. I also really enjoyed their Caesar salad. The dressing must've been homemade because I've never had dressing that flavorful before.
