Visited Saffron with a group of friends and was pleasantly surprised by the outcome. At this time they're offering a buffet for a little under $20. With the buffet comes unlimited self serve mimosas. The food on the bar stayed replenished and kept hot. Carrying vegetarian and meat options, everyone was able to feed their tummies. They have these delicious onion blossoms that are a blend of sweet and savory that you should not miss. They also offer bottomless mimosas on sundays, which is a rare treat in greensboro. The owner came by to talk to us and to ensure we had everything we needed. He and the other servers were very attentive and kind. Even though they were very busy, all of our needs were met, including any additional questions my parents asked about vegan options. When we arrived at the designated time they explained that other orders had come in after ours. Well, of course they did. Rather than setting a reasonable time for the subsequent customers, they simply didn't prepare our order. I do understand the unexpected occurs or there may have been a misunderstanding of their flyer but we weren't informed neither way. Since their buffet was my sole reason for visiting, it was disappointing. Nonetheless, we continued to order our dishes. I ordered the mild chicken curry over rice, with a side of Naan bread; my partner ordered the medium spicy curry goat. Unfortunately they were out of lamb that night. It was oh so yummy! We were served piping hot food which is a plus for me. You receive a great portion of protein and the naan bread was huge. I did enjoy the flavors from both of our dishes. During the next visit I would order my curry with medium spice. Have cultural expectations regarding the staff, and be patient; they were great and attentive. The food here was good however, just mellow and a bit watered down for the bland American palate. I prefer my Indian food strongly spiced as they would do in India with no fear of Americans crying about it lol. You either like it or you don't. I have loved going to Saffron for years. The décor inside is very attractive and the staff is as nice as they could be. Nothing can touch their lunch buffet. It is a great way to get introduced into Indian food as you can try lots of things to see what you like. They have lots of meat and vegetarian options available. Food is always fresh and hot. Love sitting down to a big full buffet plate filled with beautiful colors and wonderful smells. My favorites are the chicken tiki masala, goat, saffron rice, tandoori chicken, and I always like their special vegetable. I usually try everything and I almost always glad I did. The best of bests is their naan, oh, man- SO soft. It is great on its own or to sop up all the delicious sauce from the other Indian dishes. To top it off, the buffet includes unlimited self-serve mimosas with buffet purchase. You will be full for the rest of the day and a nap will be necessary. For those wary of Indian cuisine, the buffet was the perfect way to dip your toes into the pool of deliciousness. Sadly I believe the buffet is a thing of the past. However, they still make incredible food, and the portions are large enough to have leftovers. I recently visited again for the first time in 2 years to celebrate a friend's birthday. It was so nice to be back! My favorite waiter took the very best care of our large, boisterous group. He had great suggestions and answered any questions we had. He also provided extra rice for our table when we packed up our leftovers. Truly above and beyond service!! To begin, the table shared an order of vegetable samosas, an assorted vegetarian appetizer, and an order of garlic naan. The accompanying sauces with the fried appetizers were both so delicious! I was partial to the green sauce (or is it a chutney?) which was nice and fresh. The tamarind sauce was a little sweet for me, but it was a nice balance for the saltiness of the apps. The naan was perfectly fluffy and delicious with a yummy yogurt sauce. For my main dish I ordered the goat rogan josh. The dish was perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of kick (I got a 3 out of 5 on the spice scale). The goat literally slid right off the bone and was so tender. My vegan friend also let me have a few bites of his bhindi masala, which was also incredible! I would highly recommend Saffron to anyone with a hankering for some awesome Indian food! read more
