This was my first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken in Greensboro, and I was really impressed! The aesthetic vibe inside is super cool and modern, and the staff was friendly from the moment I walked in. My food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor -- I really can't complain about anything on the menu. Parking is a little tight since it's in a busy area, and getting there was a bit confusing at first, but it's clearly a popular spot. Because it stays packed, I wouldn't recommend it for a larger group (probably not ideal for parties over five), but for a quick meal or a small hangout, it's perfect. I'll definitely be coming back!
The abundance of fried chicken joints that have opened particularly in Greensboro and High Point lately is, in a word, insane. The hype for the opening of these places is even more crazy to me. Y'all act like you've never seen fried chicken before. Well, in fact, there has been plenty of wonderful fried chicken around here for a long long time. Whether you want that on the bone, off the bone, on a sandwich, handheld tendies, wings, whatever. It is here. The local people know fried chicken. So when Dave's Hot Chicken moved in along with a host of other "premium fast casual" chicken brands, I just decided I was going to wait for the lines and crowds to die down and get a more typical experience. So here I am, a little later to the party than most. Parking here is exceptionally limited, and some places will tow you. Know that before going. The inside of Dave's is colorful befitting their style, but otherwise, pretty basic. Tables are spaced way out, and there is a front patio with more. There is a clear bend toward take-out. Not for me, i want to eat mine fresh and hot. The menu is also not complex at all. Tenders, sliders, varying amounts. Combo meals. Some loaded fries, etc. They got chicken and taters, choose how you want your chicken and taters served up. I went for Dave's combo 3, that's a slider and a tender served with fries, some sauce, and pickles. I was warned in advance they do not play around with heat here, so I went medium. Glad I didn't go higher. It took way longer than I would expect to get my food given there were not many people waiting around, but it was acceptable and I got hot food, the most important thing. As to the chicken itself, it will BURN YOU OUT. That spice lingers in your mouth, almost coating it like cinnamon would. I gotta say, Glad I had some sauce kicking around because good lord. Both the tender and the cut in the slider were thick, juicy, HOT. Fries were golden and ok, but a little skimpy on portion. I'd say the same thing for all the accoutrements... barely any slaw at all on my slider and i would say it definitely needed it. All the spice on there does leave a dry mouth feel. Drinks... don't expect real tea here. It's that Gold Peak nonsense, which would be better off used as coolant. Not having real southern tea with friend chicken is a letdown around here. That is my second biggest point of improvement, other than more generous portions on slaw, fries, etc. I still prefer other local places that have been here much longer to Dave's, but I will say, if you are seeking the HOTTEST chicken around while still remaining juicy and don't mind the price premium, you won't be disappointed here.

Walk up and order and pick up food at the counter. Cute place. They have heat choices ranging from No spice to Reaper with 5 levels in between. I'm the first to like spice. Love jalapeños, Franks, Tabasco. I thought hot would be good. Level 5 of 7. Uhm, WAY too hot. Couldn't taste food. Too overpowering for my taste. Chicken, slaw and pickles were good. If you think you like hot, still beware! My tween daughter also loves hot. She was not able to eat it. Order on the side of too mild! Restaurant feedback - have some sort of "level" gauge of the heat for consumers.
My kids love the chicken here and I tried it for the first time and wasn't disappointed. The chicken sliders were feast. The meat was tender, juicy and fresh making it really flavorful. The service was quick and easy and I understand the hype around the place. Good food, service and ambiance. Highly recommended.
Tried the 2 slider meal - and those sandwiches were no joke - crispy, juicy chicken with that signature spice kick, cooled down perfectly with the slaw and sauce. The sliders are big enough to feel like a full meal and the fries were hot and well-seasoned. Service was quick and friendly, even with a steady crowd. And the vibe is modern and fun. Ample seating inside and out. If you like your chicken spicy and crave-worthy, this spot delivers!
Was a pleasant surprise to see a Dave's when driving around one day. Didn't go on this particular day because the line was all the way outside wrapped around the building. Patience is a virtue lol so I decided to try to wait on a day that hopefully the line wasn't that long. Went on a rainy Tuesday and it was perfect for me to be able to get in and not have to wait long. I was super hungry on this day that I went, so I got the combo that comes with the two sliders. I'm not a fan of slaw (aka coleslaw) at all, so I got them without it. The chicken was cooked to perfection. It was seasoned very well. On this day, I got the heat level at medium. It definitely has a kick to it. I like to feel the spice if you will when I want something hot and these are great. I sometimes will get mild as well if I want to tone it down a notch, depending on my flavor profile for the day. The bun was soft and fluffy. The service here was top-notch and very nice. I've been to some locations and other states where the service hasn't been the best, so it was great that that isn't the case here where I live. I definitely plan on coming back soon and on a pretty consistent basis to get this excellent meal and food from here.
THIS. THING. IS. MASSIVE! I'll get to that, but first... ...I rate fast food joints on a few basic things: customer service, cleanliness and is the food fresh and quick. This DHC location is solid in every category. To be perfectly transparent, this the only DHC location I've tried, so I don't have any comparisons (yet). We've been to this one a few times, and each and every time it did not disappoint. The lady who took our order was super friendly and had a big smile on her face. Can't say that for many fast food joints. The place was very clean as well. We noticed this even during the busy rush when the place just opened. Parking today was a breeze, especially since the crazy hectic first few months has died down. If you were there during these months, come back and try it again...open seating, no insane line, and parking is much easier. The picture speaks a thousand words: one of my sliders was HUGE! I think I needed 4 buns to house that puppy. Perfectly cooked, juicy and tender on the inside with great tasting breading and spices on the outside. Fries were hot and crispy, and the kale slaw side was freshly made. The price: I can see some people complaining about the higher price relevant to other fast food joints. My 2 slider combo with a side (no drink) was $15. Yep, pricy. But compare this to some other chicken joints that give you only 1 sandwich, a side and a drink for roughly $9-12...ok cheaper (for less food). For me, getting 2 gigantic sliders and a side that came out fresh, superb on taste, and in a clean establishment was worth it. And if you call these massive sandwiches "sliders" just like DHC does, don't kid yourself, you'll walk out of there stuffed. For some who don't have a ravenous appetite like myself, you could easily split a 2 slider combo with someone and be satisfied. $7.50 each doesn't sound half bad right? Want a smile upon walking in? A clean eatery? Hot, fresh and tasty food? Come to this specific DHC location and try it out.
This franchise is relatively new to the city, but it's been packed ever since it opened. They have compact menu that doesn't overwhelm of quick chicken based meals at different levels of spice which you can choose to your liking. The staff works promptly and there are TWO order placing lines (which a lot more places should have) to keep things moving and your order is prepared rather quickly. The food is good, nothing too extravagant, which makes it perfect for an enjoyable lunch or a quick dinner stop. Only thing to worry about is the parking as it is in a rather compact location which can deter a visit during busy dining times. It's also got nice seating and speakers for outside dining when weather permits!
This is my first time experiencing Dave's. The man assisting me was very helpful and kind. I let him know this was my first time and he told me about the spice levels. I got a #4 medium (sandwich and fries) and I think I could go up two more spice levels. The chicken portion is huge- I had leftovers and it reheated well. I will definitely be back. I think a good price for the portion size.
I came in on Saturday afternoon with my son to get a lunch. The parking and the inside were pretty crowded and this is counter service. We both ordered the slider and chicken strip (hot) with fries and a drink. The strip and the sandwich are good size so be hungry and I guess I should have gotten mild because....wow....I was puckering. The reason for the four stars is the fries were completely oversalted and seasoned to the point I could only eat a couple. Other than that, good stuff.
I'm a big fan of their app. The restaurant tends to be busy and always have a line...the app allows you to skip the line and works well. The chicken is consistent and unlike any I've had before. I was anticipating a "wet" chicken with a sauce and was intrigued by the fact that all the flavor is in the breading. The chicken has a great flavor and I find the medium heat to be easy to eat and full of flavor. The hot was good as well and is about as hot as I enjoy eating. I find that drizzling a bit of honey on the chicken gives a nice combo of sweet and spicy. Also, this visit I tried the coleslaw and found it to be a nice alternative to the fries...a mild flavor but a nice way to cut the heat and heaviness of the chicken.
And yet another fast, casual chicken spot, and this one is a hot spot for sure. This is a chain that got its start in Hollywood in 2017 when three childhood friends of Armenian descent raised $900 to get the operation started. They setup a street food stand in a parking lot with a table, a few folding chairs, and a portable fryer. Their business slowly grew as the word got out that they were making some damn fine hot chicken. They moved into a regular restaurant in 2019, and the growth has been mercurial, totaling now over 300 franchise restaurants, including a number outside the USA. 70% of the company was recently purchased by Roark Capital Management for about 1 billion $! Roark also has investments in Arby's, Sonic, Buffalo Wild Wings, Culver's, Carl's Jr, Hardee's, and much more! The menu at Dave's is simple - 4 choices: hot chicken tenders, chicken sliders, or both, with available sides of fries, cheese fries, Mac & cheese, and "kale slaw". The chicken tenders are served on white bread with pickles and sauce, the sliders are served on a bun with pickles, "kale slaw", and Dave's Sauce (a chipotle mayo mixture). 7 spice levels are offered - no spice, light mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and reaper. If you order the reaper you must sign a waiver. The chicken tenders served here are large, probably the largest in the fast food business, but it is also pricey - 1tender is $4.99, 1 slider goes for $6.99! They offer combos but they do not include a drink option. The chicken is halal and is hand breaded and it renders a nice exterior with some crunch. I tried a #3 ( 1 tender, 1 slider with fries, spice level of hot) and I was please with these items. I'm glad I tried this place, but I don't see being a regular - too pricey, too busy, too many other options.

The food tastes great but if you order food to go you need to check that it's correct before leaving. We've ordered to go twice and both times our orders are not all the way correct. First time the spice levels were not matching what we ordered and second time we payed extra for cheese fries and cheese on our sliders and did not get any cheese. Other than that the food tastes great, the fries are crispy but soft on the inside and chicken has always been juicy and a nice large piece for the sliders. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken just opened on Battleground Ave in Greensboro, and wow This place is delicious. I ordered the #2 sliders, one Hot and one X-Hot... lol holy smokes the extra heat will light you up. I honestly can't even imagine trying the Reaper level. I also got a large chocolate milkshake and it was amazing -- super creamy and a perfect balance to the spice. The fries were awesome, perfectly seasoned, and surprisingly not too salty at all (which I really appreciated). Service was a little slow, but honestly? That's because everything is made fresh. I'll gladly wait a few extra minutes for hot, fresh food instead of something that's been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. Overall, 9/10. Great food, bold flavors, and totally worth the visit. I recently checked out the new Dave's Hot Chicken spot in Greensboro and overall, it was a great experience. The chicken itself was excellent, crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of flavor. I went with the medium heat level, and while it had a nice flavor, it wasn't particularly spicy something to keep in mind if you're looking for a real kick. The slider really stood out. It was massive definitely the biggest "slider" I've ever seen and packed with flavor. Fries were just okay; pretty standard and nothing to write home about, but they did the job. There was a bit of a wait, but considering it's a new location and it was pretty crowded, that was understandable. The staff was friendly and kept things moving smoothly, which made the experience even better.I'll definitely be back to try a hotter spice level next time! read more
Great spot w/ exceptional service & excellent food. The cashier was very helpful & after we told her it was our 1st visit she didn't rush us & made great suggestions. A little pricey but so is the world right now. It was $75 for 5 of us. They do have reasonable items like the 4 minis & fries for $10.49 which were Delicious!! Highly recommend Only drawbacks - 1 don't park at Outback - you will get towed. 2 - being in the Carolinas and not offering Ranch w/ spicy chicken is crazy! We went around 345PM on a Friday afternoon. We caught it at the right time...short line however , at 4PM the line was out the door! We ordered a #2 and had enough to split with 2 people. The chicken was cooked to order - and it hit the spot!! The ambiance was comfortable yet still packed. I would definitely return for another visit. read more
Ok, so I had to see what all the hype was about, people seem to LOVE this place. Here's my two cents. I am not a fan and this will be a one and done for me. Not a fan of the dry rub (I got the tender and slider meal-medium). The portion sizes are great, the customer service was great. I commend the team for getting what appeared to be a line 70-80 people down with a commendable speed . Having limited options helps, I'm sure---it avoids the can I get a uhhhhhhhh kind of moments. The wait time for our food was not long. The interior is nice, clean, colorful and plenty of seating if you choose to dine in. There is additional seating on the exterior as well. Lastly, the rumor mill has it that Drake is an investor (sorry Kendrick, I didn't know before taking that first bite)...give this place a try. Check it off of your local foodie bucket list. It smells hotter than what it was. So I was nervous that I had the wrong order because it smells SPICY and I can't take too much spice these days. So I ordered one mild tender and one medium tender. I kept double checking my receipts as I nervously took my first bite. I was pleasantly surprised! The heat was perfect but the tenderness of the inside and the crunch of the outside is unmatched! The vibe in there was crazy and super fun! The loud music, the rush from college school goers took me back to my school days. I got the fiery and repaer sandwich and they did not dissipate. My first DHC experience and I've waited for this moment for years (don't judge). It did not disappoint! This new location is beautiful and clean (only a week old so yes makes sense but still inviting). Lots of seating options, both inside and out. We arrived really early (for us) and the line was already starting, but we passed by later in the day and it remained about the same. They get you through that line impressively fast. The staff were all extremely friendly and efficient! Tim was killing it getting those orders out to patrons and wasn't stingy with the sauce, love that! Best of all..they have Coke products - huge win for me! Alright now the food. *ahhhhh* (Heavens opening and angels singing). I ordered the Tender + Slider combo. Some are complaining about the price, but I'm surprised about that because it's a lot of food. The drink is extra, so yes a little more than your average "fast food" chain, but not by much. The chicken is crunchy, fresh, well seasoned (as are the crinkle cut fries) and the perfect amount of heat for me. I'm sort of a wimp, so if you aren't I'd go hot or above for the heat index. I settled on medium and it just had a very slight kick. Some might even say is the spice in the room with us? But again, perfect for me! Now, listen closely. You're going to want to get some honey and of course the Dave's sauce. Perfect bite=chicken + honey + pickle + sauce. Divoooon! Mini sliders were a hit, as well. One thing I want to mention just for the restaurant's knowledge is the Sprite in the soda machine was not fizzy. It may just have needed to be changed. That was the only critique we had. Last thing, parking. Tow trucks are out and about heavily in the Outback parking lot, word on the street says. The DHC lot isn't huge, but most everyone parked next door at the old jewelry store without issue. Just keep this in mind. Now go forth and conquer that chicken, friends! Ya'll know I am stingy with my 5s but for an official launch day opening things were so smooth! I was highly impressed. This is a chicken tender joint. I heard several folks waiting in line compare it to a place where canes are raised. I've been there too. This is not that. Although both have a proprietary sauce. Dave's hot chicken gives you four options. Drinks are not included. I had a to go order. However there were a couple of larger dine orders ahead of me and my wait wasn't very long. The cashiers knew their stuff! The expediters checked the orders before calling your number and made sure you had any additional condiments you may need. The ambiance? A mini vibe. Their Bose speakers were pumping out the tunes. The AC was cranked. Tables clean and orderly. The food? I ordered a 2 sliders with fries and a side of Mac and cheese. (Aye! Leave my big back out of this.) One hot. One medium. First off, these aren't some wimpy chicken tenders. Plump. Well seasoned. Crispy. Almost like having two chicken sandwiches. I do enjoy spicy. Hot? Borderline too hot for me. A added extra Dave's sauce. That tamed the heat. My mouth still tingles just a little as I write this. For perspective, I can drink a shot of Texas Pete with no issues. If you love heat then Hot is your light work. Medium. Okay. See for me it isn't spicy enough to be a medium. There is a tiny touch of passive heat that pops in the back of your throat like a cayenne kick. It's sweeter than Hot. No front end heat. For my non spicy folks who want to step up from mild; medium is for you. My heat seekers please skip this one. Crinkle fries. The g.o.a.t! Well seasoned. Not to salty. They were still crispy when I got back home. I had a side of cheese sauce for dipping. Cheese fries are available but I didn't wanna risk soggy cheese fries. Mac and cheese. Nope. I didn't save the best for last. It's decent enough to not affect these 5 stars. Kids will love it. If you're on the fence, get a side of cheese sauce. If you enjoy the cheese sauce then you'll enjoy perfectly al dente elbow noodles mixed in it. Mr. Dave if you're reading this know that I am not bashing it. I make a mean baked Mac & cheese. Hard to love most Mac's that aren't oven baked and encrusted in cheese. Once again, shout out to the staff. I was born in the 1900s and could easily be the parent of the team working today. I was VERY impressed with the staff at Dave's hot chicken. I visited the second weekend they were open and the line was out the door, but the staff absolutely kept their composure and worked like a well-oiled machine. They were friendly, made sure to clean up to the best of their ability despite how crazy busy they were. The staff was quick and knowledgeable! I cannot rave about them enough. The interior is very cool with graffiti art everywhere and fun music blasting so that waiting for your food is a whole vibe. The food itself is good. Fresh and hot, I especially enjoyed the kale slaw. Would I wait outside in the line again? No, but if I am craving a fast food chicken experience more elevated than zaxbys or chick fil a then I will definitely be back. In less than 10 years daves hot chicken has more than 270 locations and I can see why. It was fun and delicious 10/10 read more

My first time at DHC and it didn't disappoint. When I went the line was wrapped around the corner but the wait didn't even feel long, service was extremely quick despite the building being packed with people. My order was a Dave's #3 slider and tender and it was somewhat impressive. I got them hot but it didn't have any real kick to it then, but the sauce with it was perfection. The portions felt huge and the slider & tender both had strong impressive tastes on their own. This is the one time I actually had seasoned fries that were actually good and I feel that's hard to come by. The price was about $13 not including a drink but I think the portions made it worth it. Definitely worth it if you haven't gone. Also Parking isn't the best so be careful when looking for a spot. read more

Everything was amazing!! Today was a soft opening and the lines were super long but they were moving really quickly. I may have waited 30 minutes total and it was worth it! The food is amazing! The fries were crispy and the chicken was amazing. The tenders and the sliders. The Mac and cheese is also a winner. If you're thinking about trying this place please go. The ambiance was bright and colorful. The inside was a bit noisy but that's to be expected (the place just opened). The kitchen staff were working really hard and the employees at the register were extremely nice and helpful. The employees that were walking around keeping the area were very nice and friendly too. Great place! Warming: the level "hot" is very hot! I love hot and I was thinking hot (like buffalo wings). Think 10x's that heat. And my fiancé ordered the extra hot. The hype was very played, unfortunately the food was very disappointing. (To each their own) the breading on the tenders made the experience even worse. The breading felt under done and mushy. If I peeled all the breading and over seasoning off I am left with a plain Jane tender which is way better. The Dave sauce was very sweet and taste like something you can get off of Pinterest, very very disappointed. The loaded fries...could have better excuted. The staff was the only uplift of the restaurant, the rock and roll vibe of the restaurant was very nice. Unfortunately Dave's hot chicken is a no for me. read more

We grabbed lunch today at Dave's and it was really good. It was pretty busy so we did have to wait but not very long. There is limited seating also so we did have to wait for a table to open up as well. The staff were friendly and all had a great attitude. I got the #3 and it came with a chicken tender and slider. I like that you can get both and have variety. The chicken had a nice seasoning but had a bit too much on it. The slider was my favorite as it had a nice balance of flavors with the slaw, sauce, and pickles. The fries were fresh and had a nice seasoning on them as well. read more

First time here. As soon as we walked in, solid experience. The service was top notch. Mari was behind the register-upbeat (actually everyone was happy), friendly and ran through the menu for our benefit. Total customer service. The food was great. Fries were fresh, not greasy and with good seasoning. We got mini-sliders, a regular slider and an extra tender. Chicken was fresh and not over crispy. My heat level was medium and next time will turn it up as medium was too light for me (but I'm Indian so ). Absolutely coming here again. read more
