My first time in. There is a roped off line and also kiosks to the side. I wasn't sure if I needed to order at the kiosk - if that could expedite my wait but I decided to wait for the cashier. I ordered the #2 to go (two sandwiches with fries) spice level hot- it was hot! But a good amount for me. There were 2 or 3 more levels after hot. I waited maybe 7 minutes for my food to come out. There is a tv that has the orders (ready and in progress) divided by delivery methods. It's busy but everything is organized. The abundance of fried chicken joints that have opened particularly in Greensboro and High Point lately is, in a word, insane. The hype for the opening of these places is even more crazy to me. Y'all act like you've never seen fried chicken before. Well, in fact, there has been plenty of wonderful fried chicken around here for a long long time. Whether you want that on the bone, off the bone, on a sandwich, handheld tendies, wings, whatever. It is here. The local people know fried chicken. So when Dave's Hot Chicken moved in along with a host of other "premium fast casual" chicken brands, I just decided I was going to wait for the lines and crowds to die down and get a more typical experience. So here I am, a little later to the party than most. Parking here is exceptionally limited, and some places will tow you. Know that before going. The inside of Dave's is colorful befitting their style, but otherwise, pretty basic. Tables are spaced way out, and there is a front patio with more. There is a clear bend toward take-out. Not for me, i want to eat mine fresh and hot. The menu is also not complex at all. Tenders, sliders, varying amounts. Combo meals. Some loaded fries, etc. They got chicken and taters, choose how you want your chicken and taters served up. I went for Dave's combo 3, that's a slider and a tender served with fries, some sauce, and pickles. I was warned in advance they do not play around with heat here, so I went medium. Glad I didn't go higher. It took way longer than I would expect to get my food given there were not many people waiting around, but it was acceptable and I got hot food, the most important thing. As to the chicken itself, it will BURN YOU OUT. That spice lingers in your mouth, almost coating it like cinnamon would. I gotta say, Glad I had some sauce kicking around because good lord. Both the tender and the cut in the slider were thick, juicy, HOT. Fries were golden and ok, but a little skimpy on portion. I'd say the same thing for all the accoutrements... barely any slaw at all on my slider and i would say it definitely needed it. All the spice on there does leave a dry mouth feel. Drinks... don't expect real tea here. It's that Gold Peak nonsense, which would be better off used as coolant. Not having real southern tea with friend chicken is a letdown around here. Was a pleasant surprise to see a Dave's when driving around one day. Didn't go on this particular day because the line was all the way outside wrapped around the building. Patience is a virtue lol so I decided to try to wait on a day that hopefully the line wasn't that long. Went on a rainy Tuesday and it was perfect for me to be able to get in and not have to wait long. I was super hungry on this day that I went, so I got the combo that comes with the two sliders. I'm not a fan of slaw (aka coleslaw) at all, so I got them without it. The chicken was cooked to perfection. It was seasoned very well. On this day, I got the heat level at medium. It definitely has a kick to it. I like to feel the spice if you will when I want something hot and these are great. I sometimes will get mild as well if I want to tone it down a notch, depending on my flavor profile for the day. The bun was soft and fluffy. The service here was top-notch and very nice. I've been to some locations and other states where the service hasn't been the best, so it was great that that isn't the case here where I live. If you were there during these months, come back and try it again...open seating, no insane line, and parking is much easier. The picture speaks a thousand words: one of my sliders was HUGE! I think I needed 4 buns to house that puppy. Perfectly cooked, juicy and tender on the inside with great tasting breading and spices on the outside. Fries were hot and crispy, and the kale slaw side was freshly made. The price: I can see some people complaining about the higher price relevant to other fast food joints. My 2 slider combo with a side (no drink) was $15. Yep, pricy. But compare this to some other chicken joints that give you only 1 sandwich, a side and a drink for roughly $9-12...ok cheaper (for less food). For me, getting 2 gigantic sliders and a side that came out fresh, superb on taste, and in a clean establishment was worth it. And if you call these massive sandwiches "sliders" just like DHC does, don't kid yourself, you'll walk out of there stuffed. Roark also has investments in Arby's, Sonic, Buffalo Wild Wings, Culver's, Carl's Jr, Hardee's, and much more! The menu at Dave's is simple - 4 choices: hot chicken tenders, chicken sliders, or both, with available sides of fries, cheese fries, Mac & cheese, and "kale slaw". The chicken tenders are served on white bread with pickles and sauce, the sliders are served on a bun with pickles, "kale slaw", and Dave's Sauce (a chipotle mayo mixture). 7 spice levels are offered - no spice, light mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and reaper. If you order the reaper you must sign a waiver. The chicken tenders served here are large, probably the largest in the fast food business, but it is also pricey - 1tender is $4.99, 1 slider goes for $6.99! They offer combos but they do not include a drink option. The chicken is halal and is hand breaded and it renders a nice exterior with some crunch. I tried a #3 ( 1 tender, 1 slider with fries, spice level of hot) and I was please with these items. I was VERY impressed with the staff at Dave's hot chicken. I visited the second weekend they were open and the line was out the door, but the staff absolutely kept their composure and worked like a well-oiled machine. The fries were crispy and the chicken was amazing. The tenders and the sliders. The Mac and cheese is also a winner. If you're thinking about trying this place please go. The ambiance was bright and colorful. The inside was a bit noisy but that's to be expected (the place just opened). The kitchen staff were working really hard and the employees at the register were extremely nice and helpful. The employees that were walking around keeping the area were very nice and friendly too. Great place! Warming: the level "hot" is very hot! I love hot and I was thinking hot (like buffalo wings). Think 10x's that heat. And my fiancé ordered the extra hot. The hype was very played, unfortunately the food was very disappointing. (To each their own) the breading on the tenders made the experience even worse. The breading felt under done and mushy. If I peeled all the breading and over seasoning off I am left with a plain Jane tender which is way better. The Dave sauce was very sweet and taste like something you can get off of Pinterest, very very disappointed. The loaded fries...could have better excuted. We grabbed lunch today at Dave's and it was really good. It was pretty busy so we did have to wait but not very long. There is limited seating also so we did have to wait for a table to open up as well. The staff were friendly and all had a great attitude. I got the #3 and it came with a chicken tender and slider. I like that you can get both and have variety. The chicken had a nice seasoning but had a bit too much on it. The slider was my favorite as it had a nice balance of flavors with the slaw, sauce, and pickles. The fries were fresh and had a nice seasoning on them as well. read more

This place is busy! Parking is a bit tight. The cashier was super friendly. The dining area was pretty clean. It took a while for us to get our food, but it was expected because there were a lot of people in there. I ordered the two sliders and fries, but the sliders are like normal size chicken sandwiches. In the future, I'll just get one. My son loved his chicken tenders. He said the fries needed more seasoning, but he was so thrilled about his meal. He can't wait to come back. I went to the location is Charlotte and Raleigh and was super excited when I found out Greensboro was getting one too! This is one of my favorite fried chicken places ever and definitely my favorite in Greensboro. The chicken is so perfectly cooked and seasoned, the fries are cooked to the perfect level of crispiness, and the sauce really brings everything together. The service is always immaculate too.
